I was looking at a Online Petition to make DDR a National Sport. I signed it, because I thought it was a good idea.

Anyways, do you think DDR should be a National Sport?

A national sport? No. An accepted, credited exercise/workout machine? Definately.

I guess the definition of a sport get's construed many different ways nevertheless, there is room for competitive physical activity with DDR. I guess the fact that it's a game rules out becoming a national sport or let alone a "sport". My stance would be "why not" because if it does become a national sport then it wouldn't be as bad compared to Golf.

Dunno if it is figurative or not, but isn't Starcraft considered to be S. Korea's national E-sport?

I third this quote because I don't see treadmills becoming a national sport because you run with them. But then you have to consider the fact that a sport is when you compete to win. And in DDR you kinda do that but its not on tv showing people face off against each other because video games would've been a national sport years ago.

Um... I'll fourth Orca's statement. I think its good as a workout machine and nothing more. Of course if I ever saw this thing becoming a sport, I'll probably laugh. Maybe even more if it became an olympic sport. (Imagines Team Russia vs. Team China competing for the gold while dancing to "Butterfly")

...Walking could be a national sport if people really wanted it to. The same goes for DDR. What it really comes down to is how popular this "activity" is.
If they did make DDR a sport, then they'd have to have Guitar hero added to that list too. Not to mention all those singing games. :sadshoe: Also, the Wii would have to be thrown in that category too. The list is endless.

No, not a joke topic. I could give you the URL to the petition, but I really don't want to get in trouble with the admins.

As for the rest of you, I understand where all of you are going. It's a fun game, but it's not a type to be a competitive sport.

It depends who you are actually. My aunt's ex boyfriend did DDR as a competetive sport. They even bet on it, too. That's why my aunt broke up with him. :(

If that was established, KONAMI will be making tons of money.

Since I play DDR a lot, I would like to go to my school gym and play it everyday. XD

No way, as much as I love DDR (very much), this is a terrible idea.

Actually, Race Walking is apart of the Olympic program (the 50km race walk is often considered the toughest event in the Olympics, actually. It can take up to a week for your legs to recover from that kind of events, apparently...).

If DDR would become a competitive sport, I would see it more as an E-Sport that a sport proper. I mean, it IS a video game, after all.

I think this is a good idea to make DDR a sport. Many people would like to play it then because it's fun and you're getting loads of exercise! If more people knew about it, then more people wouldn't really become obese. And I am a massive DDR fan, love the game! It's awesome! :phoenix:

Where is the petition? I'd like to sign it, lol.

No, 'cause a perfect score is too easy. Too many overtimes. Oh, and I probably mentioned before that it isn't close to the best dancing game, so there are better choices anyway.

You know, I could have sworn someone mentioning already being a sport in Norway...

In any case, it probably shouldn't be a sport. I love it to death and all, but it wouldn't feel right making it a sport game. E-sport maybe, but that's about it.
