We know about the uprising of MechaBowser and Shaun, how they both began their projects, then Shaun went and got himself banned. MechaBowser continued for a while then dropped from the scene.

Well, as luck would have it, Shaun has decided that if he can gather enough interest and support, he might provide us with the case maker we have been hoping for, for so long!

However, there is a petition that needs to be signed without it, he won't know how many people are interested.

He should make it because he wants to make it, not because other people want him to make it... it's not a commercial project so if he wants to make it he should, but if he doesn't then he... shouldn't. It's entirely up to him whether he continues it or not, IMO, not other people.

I'm... not gonna sign. Mostly because of the reason stated above. I'm sure it'll get enough signatures without me anyway so... :phoenix:

Basically, this petition is to prove to him how many people actually care about the case maker, should he design it. I can understand how he feels, if he has alot of people sign this petition, he will feel its a project thats worth doing and then have fun doing it, whats the point in making a program you plan for people to use, if no one uses it?

What I'm thinking is, If MechaBowsers original case maker topic got a thousand replies, and mine (for MechaBowser) got a few more replies (well.... less than Mecha's original, but still a lot) then I think a Case Maker is well worth the programming. :phoenix:

Because you enjoy making it. And even if it wasn't as successful as you'd hoped, you learned from it.

Edit: Well this sounds really cheesy but yeh.

Wait a sec... that's not what it says on the petition. The petition just says

"I support the development of the Phoenix Wright case creation program, Phoenix Write, and I would like to see it in a complete form and try out the full version."

Nothing about joining a new community to monitor its growth. If that's meant to be part of the petition then I'll withdraw my signature - I'm not participating in that kind of point-scoring.

It was just a quite of what has been said during the course of consideration. The statement you see on the petition is what you are agreeing to when you sign it.

Hahaha.

You know when Shaun left, he originally said he wouldn't bother working on a case maker unless he could create a community for it that rivaled CR's in size. Well we're over 2000 members now. Good luck to him!

I have no intention of rivaling Court Record's community.

I can confirm that Phoenix Write's cases will be playable on Mac or Linux, with no kind of emulation needed. The Phoenix Write editor may also be supported. Hardware acceleration is definitely going to be supported for Windows, meaning super-fast cases, and mobile phone support (Java) has a slight possibility of happening.

Multimedia Fusion 2 will have Java runtime support by the end of this year, meaning I'll be able to compile Phoenix Write for any operating system that supports the Java Runtime Environment. That's why mobile phones may be a possibility too, though I am not entirely sure how I'll figure out the drastic resolution differences.

This might help you decide whether or not you want to sign the petition. He just confirms that it WILL INDEED work for Macs! :phoenix:

SIGNED!
Really, Objections/Presenting Evidence is all that needs to be had to make it super great, but profiles would be nice.

The other stuff is just nice to have. Well, OK, cross-examinations, but that's really a given.

Of course, I could hilariously wrong in every conceivable way, but I don't think so.

Oh look. I'm the fourteenth signature. Fourteen is my lucky number.
*Does the Donut Dance*

I am very happy that a case maker might be continued. Very happy indeed.

It's super great to have a case maker. I have a load of cases that I want to make...and stuff. Yes, indeed.

Try promoting the petition a bit more, then. In the LJ communities and whatnot. Just a thought.

I'd love to have a full-featured case maker...

I wish Shaun luck because I know there are a lot of people interested in making cases, but I honestly don't expect him to get very far.

Why should he invest time in making a program that he might get no recognition for?

I agree with you completely.

I think he should make it but I think his motives are all wrong. Doing things purely for glory is a sure-fire path to failure OR it'll just end up making it half-assed (so that it gets finished). The only time working for attention will work is if there's a lot of competition (which there apparently isn't right now, since Mecha stopped his).

I'm sure that you'd be disheartened too if no-one really posted in your topic because they were all busy looking at the oppositions. To be honest, the only reason Mech got his out was because he rushed it more. Shaun always planned to take his time and make it more user friendly and powerful. But because of that he had less to show for it, which means no-one really cared.

Trust me, what 'glory' would you get for making a casemaker? All you get is people happy, which is a good reason to do things surely? I've talked to Shaun many times, and I've been inspired by all the ideas he's come up with, and the effort he put into it while things were going bad for him in RL.But thats my thoughts anyway. I think we should give him a chance. Thats also why I signed :)

Thanks for the thoughtful post, Gerkuman. A couple of you have got the wrong end of the stick, though. I don't know why my actions have led you to believe this, but I promise you - I am not in it for glory.

Truthfully, I hate glory, but the reasons for that are completely irrelevant. You seem to think that writing such a program is a simple task. I'm putting my grades and my lifestyle on the line for this, but yet, I still want to do it.

And there is no better way to 'do it', than to have the users' support. I need bright, thoughtful users to give me feedback on the program, and in order to envisage that happening, I needed to find out how many members of this forum are interested, hence the petition.

Make blind assumptions if you must, but this time you are wrong. If you don't like it, make your own case maker. I understand where you're coming from, but the person you describe isn't me.

If...and this is an if...he can make one for a mac I will worship the earthworms that crawl in the ground that he walks upon.

But I gotta admit, theres ben a fair few of these projects started in the last few months, and none of them have been able to emulate the PW engine accurately. If shaun can really do it, then more power to him.

I'm gonna sign it, regardless. And check regularly for updates.

In the world of the internet, if there is a gap or something between two parts of a name, the chances are, the first part is a clan tag.

[Darkworld] DDRKhat . Sometimes this is obvious, other its not. it's not a good idea to always go with the first word of a name, or you'll sometimes end up addressing people under their clan tag rather than their name, Not stating that "DDR" is a clan, (Its a game, for those of you that know) But still.
