Well, I guess there comes a time for all good things to sort of "wrap up", but did anyone else watch that new trailer for Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney and feel a bit depressed????

I just feel like the Phoenix Wright era is going to slowely fade away and turn into something else....
it won't be long until everyone we've come to love in this series disappears.

and I guess thats alright... Maybe i'm just not a big fan of change...

I dunno, anyone with me?? :larry:

...Yup. I'm with you on that. Actually...I have a whole theory about how they're going to cut Phoenix out of GS5. :sadshoe: It's depressing, really. At least we're going to have Ema for a while.

I know what you mean. I welcome a new main character to the series, but Apollo has kind of bothered me since the beginning. He just looks so unprofessional, I guess. And watching the trailer, the absence of hair poking out from the back of his head (like :object: ) just bothers me, lol.

I haven't played GS4 yet of course, but Miyuki/Trucy just doesn't seem to have the same charm that Maya does. I can't imagine her making the sorts of comments Maya does. Of course I don't expect them to make new characters exactly the same as the old ones (I wouldn't want that, either) but I'm just afraid the game will feel like its missing something. The whats-his-name prosecutor didn't hit the same note Edgeworth did with me, either.

I'm deffinately looking forward to AA4, but I can't help but be skeptical either. :sadshoe:

I think that Phoenix has had his time in the spotlight...I dont mind a new attorney. However, if they could throw a flashback trial of Mia's into GS5 or 6 (how on earth they would get that to work I do not know :will: ) I would probably explode with nostalgia. And possibly cry.

It wouldn't normally sadden me, but this is Capcom. I just keep imagining them making 20 GS/AA games and abunch of spin-offs. I don't want the newer gamers to think the Phoenix Wright games were just another cash in for Capcom.

It's sadden me so much that i don't think i will get GS4, even if that makes me sound like a brat. If they did like 1 flashback case of Phoenix and Mia, then maybe i would reconsidor. I would have been happier if they just left it to end.

Hmm, I have the strangest feeling/fear that Phoenix will be killed in GS5, ala Mia Fey's situation. It gets him out of the picture for good and it seems to be the major plot twist AA games normally have. It would cause a riot in the fanbase though. I hope my fears don't come true. D:

well as for gs4 from what i have read the past overshadows the new attorney anyway but in the end if they are doing a new game based on a new lawyer they need to lose phoneix eventually i agree it will b depressing when he goe but i am also curious to c wat else they come up with

My thoughts exactly. I don't think the writers are bold enough to kill Phoenix off, and I REALLY don't think the Capcom heads would let them.

I'm glad they decided to move on for GS4 - 3 games for Phoenix was enough. We got to see a lot out of him, after all. He lost people close to him, he made new friends, he had to deal with the "what if my client is really guilty" dilemma of lawyers, dealt with love interests... And there are only so many times that Maya can get in trouble, after all. If I have to play another case with a Fey woman in peril, I might have to break something! :meekins:

I just hope that the team doesn't lose momentum and are able to bring out GS5 with a bang. If they don't step up their game, people are going to lose interest in Apollo pretty fast.

I for one welcome our new lawy--stabbed to death :darke:

After playing AA1 and 2 I felt apprehensive about another main character, but after playing 3, I just don't see any way that they could squeeze another interesting "episode" out of this cast.

Additionally, since Capcom will do whatever makes them the most money with the least amount of expense, in this case that is the guarantee of (at least) three top-selling DS games (including GS4, so two more). Whether the games are good or not doesn't concern the top at Capcom the least bit (although the staff working at the company does care, which is why the games are good in the first place).

And Phoenix Wright will only stick around as long as Capcom thinks he's an important selling point.

I really hope people will give Apollo a fair shake as a character, if nothing else. My issues with the game aside, I really love him a lot. Personally, I think he's darling and I desperately want to see him come into his own in this next game. If ole Hobo there has to get run over by a bus for it to happen, so be it.

(and I LOVE Phoenix!)

I'm looking forward to it because, like others have said, I think if they made another game with Phoenix as the protagonist I think it'd end up being a bit lacklustre. The game premise itself is still good for some more sequels, but I think it was time they shifted the focus away from that particular cast. Though I wouldn't object to seeing the odd cameo from them now and again, I'm looking forward to seeing what the team do with Odoroki and co.

After all, if I want to read more stuff with Phoenix and his merry band, I can just go to the fanfics. I'm sure once someone comes up with a decent casemaker there'll be plenty of fanwork cases to play too.

I'm really waiting for Apollo's first showdown. I think it would be boring, if Nick continued to be the main character. It would feel that they wouldn't try to get new ideas and such.

I'm sure Phoenix will be fine. Everyone loves Phoenix. Though the murder victim theory....innnnteresting.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT:
I actually like the name Apollo Justice (Don't kill me!), but if they really name Minuki "Trucy", I will cry, stab something, cry, punch something, shoot something, and eat ice cream.
In that order.

Apollo is adorable. He is kind of a mini-Phoenix in a lot of ways, but I love his enthusiasm and his attitude. I'm anxious to learn more about him.

Which reminds me, by GS5 he should get at least one new sprite (Phoenix got two new ones in GS2 and GS3...). I would love to see Teeny Apollo's portrayal of Emo. :sahwit:

Err........yes, it is.

Even though I haven't played GS3 to the end yet...I think that a change is just refreshing. No one would like that we would play with Phoenix-grandpa, right? You know, if he would be, like 40, it wouldn't be so fun. Anyways, I still miss Phoenix and Edgey...;_;

BUT, as Kyouya seems so cool and so does Klavier, Apollo seems funny and Trucy is just wonderful. I don't think that Capcom fails the GS4, because, if that had already happened, the forums and all the internet would be full of crying. : /

But, I...DO.NOT.WANT.THAT.TO.HAPPEN.IN.GS5. REALLY, no one wants that. Even though that would be the best way to end Phoenix's presence...:'(

Let's hope our best.

Yeah, I feel like GS3 did a good job of wrapping up most* of the main characters. Does GS4 have a new judge? They really need to replace that judge.

I do hope that the Phoenix Wright characters keep popping up in minor roles in the Apollo Justice games, as long as it doesn't become too contrived.

Spoiler: *One exception (GS3 spoiler)
The only character who I feel needs work is Franziska. She hasn't really grown much since she was introduced, so I think she needs a major role in one more game to wrap up her arc.
Actually, if Phoenix Wright ever gets murdered, I'd like Franziska to be the suspect (but not the real killer). I think that would fit.

Phoenix was great, and we had him for a good while.. This new thing could really be exciting!

Plus, I must admit, I am totally looking forward to what the Garyuu (Gavin) brothers will bring to the table.

thanks for putting my faith back in the future of the game, everyone!! :o)

For me, I dont think i can let go of these characters just yet. Having only discovered this game at the end of last year (after getting a DS) these games have given me hope in an otherwise uninteresting gaming market.

This could be a comic, manga, anime series, video game, or tv show and i'd still find it utterly charming. And I suppose in the same way it would be like leaving all of these characters behind after three seasons and deciding to get a new cast.

Of course, I've yet to play the third game. Dreading coming to the end of it all though. Tears will definately be flowing.

The change of characters was a pleasant surprise, but what struck me most was the extra effort they're putting into the concept art and the animation for GS4.

All good things come in threes I suppose. I think they really needed that complete revamp to help keep the gameplay fresh.

[For me though, I just wish they fix that map system of theirs LOL.]

I wouldn't mind the occasional cameo even if it was just in a couple sentences. Character redesigns [sprites or illustration form] of the previous cast would just make people want more.

I love the art and music of GS4...very high quality, compared to Phoenix's arc with his little GBAness.

Same here, I love Nuri's work. It says a lot that the GS4 artbook coming out is half the size of the GS1-3 one, even though it's 1 game instead of 3. I really want to see what's in there!

Though it is a shame that there isn't any more art in the game itself. There's no unlockable case art, and even some of the cases could have really benefitted from more of the black and white "this is how the crime went down!" photos. I almost wish they would have cut down on some of the movies and 3D for the sake of having a few more stills.

As much as I love a particular scene in 4-3... :keiko:
