I guess I'll throw out some of my thoughts here! :D I haven't really gotten into reading fics or looking at art or anything yet, but I guess I'll have to eventually; I love these characters so much! :P Honestly, I don't think there's a single pairing I DON'T like. There are loads that totally boggle me... but in some cases, that just makes me love them more!

Favorites! :D No order, really.

/ - Definitely one of my favorites, I've just liked it from the beginning. You know, just recently I hated slash and now I'm starting to like it more and more... xD Anyway, I think it's totally adorable, even with the onesidedness, and it was the first pairing in the game that really hit me, so yeah. :3

/ - Ahaha, now I love this one. I think it's funny, but I really do like it! They're two of my favorite characters and I could totally see them together.

/ - The real one, I mean. I love this pairing. SO MUCH. I can't explain it, I really can't... I just looove it but I haven't really seen anyone else who does. It makes no sense and I can't think of any reason for them to be together at all but I wish I could and I just -love- it. ;_;

/ - I know, I know, but I loved this pairing from the moment Viola was introduced and... yeah. O:

The following essay spoils lots of the first two games. You have been warned. And I haven't really edited it much since when I typed it. >>;'
Key:
RFTA - Rise From The Ashes
FMT - Farewell, My Turnabout

Allow me to preface this essay by admitting that, yes, the entire reason this pairing even exists in my head is because I basically picked two characters and went ‘Can I write porn with this?’ Of course said porn got backstory and out of hand, but I digress. Of course, when someone leaves me to actually think about things, I end up finding some (inane) way for it to work, and if I don’t, I’ll find something that does and it snowballs. But, again, I’m rambling.

The Mindfuck:
This aspect merely looks at one (of the more angst and drama filled) options of a dynamic of any potential relationship. I'll talk about circumstance later.

Gant is the master of the mindfuck and control. The stare and the intimidation tactics are enough to make even the most confident person crumble (unless you're Von Karma, but hey, that's not the point of it.) He gets the information he wants and uses it to control the people around him as he sees fit. That combined with his position of power makes him damn near untouchable... well, pre-RFTA anyway.

Celeste suffered Matt. Whether you believe she knew of his sociopathy or not pre-break-up, that's a pretty big mindfuck to endure. Though asking me about whether she killed herself purely because of the relationships with Matt and Juan opens up a whole other kettle of fish (one that is very long and ranty), so we'll skim over that. Needless to say the break-up would have some major effects on her.
Now, we come to the Juan era.

When she's with Juan, canon implies that Juan didn't have a clue about her and Matt (again, another kettle of fish, let's not touch it until it boils) and I seriously doubt she'd want him to know with the rivalry between the two. This is a major source of blackmail for anyone who got their hands on it- though I doubt Matt really made any effort to use it, as he was waiting to reveal it anyway for his own amusement- and if Gant got his hands on it, and found use for it, you know well that he would exploit it, just like he did with Lana's fears in RFTA.

The Challenge:
Personally, I adore pairing anyone with anyone Gant with people. I adore the mindfuck that comes with Gant/Lana and Gant/Edgeworth. But, if I had to say which type of pairing I think Gant would get the most long-term out of, it would be a challenging type of relationship. Such as Gant/Von Karma, or Gant/Defiant!Edgeworth- but I digress.
This love of the challenge in a Gant pairing is what this section of the dynamic would mainly focus on.

Okay, so Celeste, for all the drama and mindfucking and break-ups and suicide is obviously a good manager. We see Adrian imitating her behaviour at the beginning of FMT. Dismissive, cool and collected. It would be hard to be a manager, especially one who deals with both Corrida and Engarde, without having a good set of balls on you.
I will admit to there being some bias on assumptions of her character due to my love of dominatrix!Celeste (it's something about the profile picture in FMT, but I'm rambling). But, I don't think it particularly detracts from what I'm talking about.
Obviously, having balls and being a manager, she'd be well used to having to deal with people who are stubborn and refuse to do as she says. I imagine most managers have a control freak part of themselves that pops around in all aspects of their life- though I can't speak totally on this because I'm not a manager (and hopefully, because who would trust me with something like that? I never will be.)

Gant's just used to having people see things his way through previously said mindfuckery and intimidation. Really, I can't see challenge working so well if he did blackmail her, but that's alright because challenge is more consensual than blackmail anyway. Though Gant would, of course, be largely dominant in the relationship, I can't imagine that Celeste would sit back and take it without a fight, and aside from that interesting me a lot more, Gant would find amusement in her defiance and it would make for some very interesting chemistry. (And the tie-pull animation.)

The Circumstance:
Fictionally, I tried to look at the idea of how they would meet and be involved in Chaos Theory (yes, I do like to plug it)- mainly because writing a PWP with this pairing would leave so many people going WTF- but I suppose I can write a little more about it.

Now, as any of you should know if you're reading this, all the canon information we have on Celeste basically consists of the following:
- Adrian Andrews' mentor (whether this is personally or by proxy is up in the air though.)
- Manager at Global Studios
- Dated Matt Engarde, her client
- Matt dumps her
- Is 'called away' by Worldwide Studios
- Falls in love and gets engaged to Juan Corrida, again her client
- Matt reveals to Juan that he had a relationship with Celeste
- Juan calls the marriage off
- Celeste kills herself.
Again, what we should know is that Juan and Matt loathe each other's guts and were always getting into contests somehow. More than likely fighting- a lot. This probably got Worldwide and Global in more legal trouble than they'd care to admit to. And who will be left taking care of it? The manager.
Although it's unlikely that Gant himself would be involved in these cases, as he worked in Homicide and then became Chief, it could be conceivable that they bumped into each other at times. I don't know how much recognition Celeste would have gotten (it's been some years from present day, and not to mention that she was dating her clients), but again, it is possible that she could be recognised as Engarde/Corrida's manager/girlfriend.

Honestly, this is the section you have fun with!

The Deceit:
Not strictly related to Gant/Celeste, but an interesting thing that's always bothered me.

So, Juan apparently never knew that Matt and Celeste ever dated, regardless of the fact that they loathed each other and spied and fought and all the rest of it. Yeah, okay, I can almost believe that.

To add to this, just for timeline purposes, the following (paraphrased) quote:
"Those two competed with each other over everything. They even debuted around the same time."
Implication being that they were competing before they debuted, meaning that their rivalry probably spanned back way before acting. How or why is for fanfiction writers to tell us.

I can't believe that it was accidental that Celeste, after being hurt and betrayed by Matt, winds up at Worldwide Studios, managing Matt's biggest rival. And then winds up engaged to him.
Sure. That's just co-incidence, right?

And there's the two stories. One, that she was 'called away', and two that 'in all her kindness, decided to move to Worldwide Studios'. Both of these could probably be correct- if she is brilliant as implied, it makes sense that a lot of places would want her. But it was probably pure calculated malice that led her to Worldwide, especially if she knew in advance that she'd be managing Corrida.

Again, this isn't really relevant and just my thoughts, but yes.

I know this isn't a debate thread, but I do feel compelled to comment on this:



I don't really think that was the case at all. Matt and Juan hated each other, sure--but outright physical fighting? That I can't really see. We don't know all that much about Juan, but one thing stressed above everything else is that Matt values his image as being cool, collected, and generally a nice guy. Even if he was to fight with Juan physically, you can bet it wouldn't be anywhere that someone would notice. That would be the death of either of them, career wise.

And even if you assumed it did happen, and the studio was able to cover it up from the media, why would they ever call the police? A police record means the possibility of the press finding out. Unless the two of them were spilling blood, I doubt any police involvement would be required.

We're talking about children's show actors, here. If their fighting was THAT violent, or that often, they probably would have just gotten fired.

I think Gant/Celeste could possibly be an interesting pairing (though there really isn't any space for it in the timeline...), but I don't think you need to stretch to make them meet in a professional capacity. They could always just run into each other.

I...uh....can't exactly explain WHY at the moment, but their kind, professional personalities just sort of mesh for me, and they apparently got along while they were working on the police force together. I can see Lana being a work-a-holic and Angel trying to get her out of the office for a fun dinner once in a while, but respecting her need for getting things done at the same time. They can match each other in ambition and wit, I think. And then Post-SL-9, there's PLENTY of lovely angst opportunities. Also, it would just hot :P
