Soooo.... as the title says, I made this topic for people who are either Megaman/Rockman fans or just people who want to share their opinion on anything cencerning the blue bomber. I'll start by asking which of the now 7 series(Classic,X,Legends,Zero,ZX,BN,Starforce) are your favorites! And a little description why it is your favorites could be useful too :phoenix: . I didn't saw a topic in the last 6 pages so feel free to correct me if there's any other topic about this already posted.

Anyway, on my side,as a HUGE Megaman fan, X is my definite favorite. Even if the gameplay is just a upgraded version of the Classic one, It's like... I know it's pretty weird but I can Identify myself with X himself. Story-wise, yeah, it's full of plot-hole but it's that that makes it so fun to see all the theories going around! So well... I know I could say more but I don't want to make a too big post to start so...

Any People out there wanting to share their opinions?

I've played countless games from the franchise (classic and X) and got sick of the rehashing. Things changed when I gave the Mega Man Zero series a try, I got hooked. Easily one of my favourite series of all-time.

Oh, and I also played Megman Powered up. Everything in it was awesome except the fact everyone's head was bigger than there body.

@Rev: Mega man Zero, eh? I might give that a shot.

The only megaman games I enjoyed were the first three classics. The second one is one of the best games I've ever played.
Don't mind me, just passing through.

I own the Mega Man Anniversary Collection for the CameGube (typo'd on purpose :yogi: ) and I own X & X2 for my SNES. I've played X3 - which is hands-down the best in the series - but it was my friend's so I haven't played it in a while. I need to buy X Collection for the PS2 once I actually get around to buying one; gotta budget my funds because college is going to suck my wallet dry.

I played BN3 but I got lazy and didn't bother to finish it.

I like the original, X, Zero and I can't stand Battle Network, Star Force, whatever the hell it's called now.

Lessee here, I've played...

All the originals sans the spinoffs and Powered Up, X1-3, Zero 1, BN1-5 (most of which were on emulators), MMSF (M3), and ZX. I never got to play Legends, which is :grey:.

Dunno what my favorite is. Plenty of great memories from MM7 and MMX3, though. :jake:

BN sort of died off after 3 (the only one I bought, actually...) and MMSF wasn't quite different enough to warrant a purchase.

Plus there's the factor that I'd be a 15-year-old buying a game marketed for 10-11-year-olds. :yuusaku:

Megaman 3 is easily my most favourite game ever.

So I vote for the Classics... but I love pretty much all megaman games.

I love the classic ones. I have the Anniversary Collection...I love the arcade games too, they're fun with multiplayer and to make random inside jokes with :gant:

I've played a little bit of Battle Network...it was okay...but none of the other series interest me much, save for Legends, but I haven't played that (yet :gumshoe:).

I mainly love the robot masters, you see. They're quirky and though some sort of have the same power, they're all still unique and appealing.

The music's really awesome too.

*facepalm*

Being older should not keep you from buying games designed for everyone :igarashi:

I've played just about every Megaman game ever made, not beaten, but atleast played (never did play the PSP remakes or japanese only games :grey: )

MM1-8
MMX1-8
MMBN1-6
MM:NT (for the gamecube)
MM:CC (for the gba)
MML1-2
MMZ1-4
MMZX
MM+B
MMSF
MM arcade games (name escapes me)
MM Battle and Chase

FUZAH

Personally the highlights are MM1-3 + 7, MMX1-4, MMBN 2 & 3, MMZX, MML series, and the arcade games.

The low points were MM5-6, MMX6-7, MM:Chip Challenge, MMBN 4, and MM B&C. The rest of the games are decent, not always amazing (or worth owning) but fun.

I will admit I was never a fan of the MMZ series, I only beat the first one and the other were either to frustrating or boring, giving you a rank based upon how you play though the stages is lame, and it punishes you for using the games method of upgrades!!! To get an S rank thought the whole game you basically have be perfect at dodging all the enemies attacks.

I've played and loved the original ones on the NES, and i played and loved X & X2 even more. Then the love for the series went a bit quiet till i got X8 for the PS2. All of them are very good i think. Ive played some of those .exe games bit i prefer the whole "pick 1 of the 8 bosses to face" gaming experience. *Still remembers failing to beat the final boss of Megaman 7 hundreds of times*

I also agree with the music being awsome ^_^
I guess I prefer the X series over all. The classics were tougher but in the X games you also had the task of finding the energy tanks and hearts and powerups and such.

The arcade names you're thinking of are Power Battles and Power Fighters. My list is mostly the same, there were the original 5 game boy games too though that I played (Maybe you just forgot them or something, you can correct me if I'm wrong). As for the ridiculous difficulty level of MMZ the first, yeah, I found myslef cursing at the game a lot of time because of the ranks and the limited health bar... At least they changed that as the serie advanced. But It never was my favorite because it focused on Zero... Dammit! Doesn't he already have all the spotlight in the X series? Which is, for me, is weird to see that the main character have less backstory develepoment than the second character... Yeah I know I'll get mauled by Zero fans but give back the spotlight to X! It counts for Axl too!

Anyways, for those interested in the story, does anyone have some plotholes filling theories to share? Just to compare, because on my side, the whole "Zero killed everyone!!!!!" thing doesn't sound right.

I like the Megaman series. It's got its ups and downs, like any other long-running franchise, but when it does something right it's usually fantastic.

I believe I own every game that's come out for home consoles and handhelds in the U.S. up to MMZ4, including Megaman Soccer. Some of them don't work right anymore, though the ones on Nintendo consoles in particular have held up well (expecially X1, X2 and X3). I haven't gotten around to getting ZX and StarForce, but I doesn't seem to be missing much, and I'm not going to bother with Powered Up.

BassForever: Yeah, that's it. you ignored Mega Man 4.

It's the same thing everywhere! 2 and 3 and occationally 5 are put forward as being good, but not even when the bad ones are listed 4 shows up! My favorite MM game is completely -utterly - ignored!

Even in music remixes Mega Man get's the least remixes (even though Capcom remixed everything themselves), and the MM4 characters makes the least appearences in comics.

Why?!

Why is this madness occuring?! Who dare ignore the great storyline that MM4 has?!

Heh, I guess everyone's into the old MegaMans. MegaMan is one of my favourite franchises, but I personally have only played the X, Zero, and ZX series (but not the entire X series, just X1 and X8). Although, I have read the entire Bob & George comics, which sum up the classics pretty well (I think). I like the MegaMan Zero series the best because the storyline is good. The thing I don't like is the fact that you don't NEED to read the storyline to play the games. You can just skip through all the text and know exactly what to do...

I also agree that Zero stole the spotlight from X in the X series. Pardon my French, but X pretty much sucks in comparison to Zero. I like Zero better than X, but when I look at both sides of the issue, I have to agree.

Speaking of X, I came close to buying Mega Man X Collection today at GameStop. Sadly, they didn't have it. They had the case but not the disc. When I asked why, the manager said that the owner always said he was going to take the cases without games off the shelves but never got around to it. Stupid owner.

But, otherwise I wouldn't have got Persona 3; which I haven't played yet, but the part that my total purchase would have costed more than $100 if I had bought X Collection and Persona 3 - along with three other games - is what counts here.

Oh well! Maybe next time.

Yeah, it pretty much sucks that the Classic and X series is really bad in the story departement. In classics, you know that whoever seems to be the bad guy, it will always come back to Dr.Wily. Same goes for X with Sigma. One point I like about the Zero series if the fact that they actually ENDED the serie properly...

The Megaman games I like are the original and the X Series. (I have never...never, never, never played one Megaman Zero or the Battle Network games...)

And also Megaman appearing in some other Capcom games:

Marvel Vs. Capcom: He was a good fighter! Roll, Tron Bonne and Servbot also appeared in this!

Namco X Capcom: I have this game...he's really good for shooting attacks! Also Roll (partnered with Rockman), Rockman Juno, Tron Bonne and Servbot appear in this one too.

You can get the Powers and Fighters games in mini form on the Neo Geo Pocket Color (Japan only), I have it in my collection.

As for the series itself I liked the original X (found X2 and X3 to be really, really hard even for me) and the first series 2 and 3.

Hmhm, I see what you mean for X2 and X3. But when you get to learn the mavericks pattern, it's becoming more and more easy to dodge attacks and counter effectively. At my start though, I never got to beat X when I was young because I didn't even know about the charge shot function.... Yeah, I didn't know about it in the original too back in the days so I went through them without the charge. The time I learned I could charge was in X2, I accidentally let my thumb longer on the fire button just to see that the shot was bigger... i feel pretty lame now when I think about it. X2 is also unforgiving if you don't get all of Zero's part, he's a pain in the a** to fight and then you have to fight the 2 forms of Sigma... talk about giving you no break! I still like both of these though.

Of the X series, I really like X6 and X8. Don't ask me why. I like X6 because it was challanging as hell, for once, and it had so awesome music. This is also the reason I like X8. I also like X8 for the shortnessness it has. It's a pick-up-and-play game that is really close to the original mega man games in terms of length. This is the only game ever I've speedrun. Usually I never got more than, say, a B score in the X games, but in X8, I have achieved the highest in almost all the levels.

Hey, not my fault if you pick me as your girlfriend! :edgy: I like Zero 'cause he got some style...and i don't quite like shooter characters. Sword's rock! XD

I like all the X series....except the shit named MMX7. I love Axl but the game is so baaad! I mostly love MMX and MMX8.

I didn't really like the old megaman because it's pretty much hard for me. I love MMBN series and the ZX series too. The zero series was quite cool too. but megaman legend....i really hate that.

I like the BN, Starforce, MMZ1-4, ZX and the classic Megaman. They all have interesting aspects including the darkest of all 6 of the BN had to be MMBN5. Starforce isn't as good as BN because of how I have to search out the enemies whereas BN, you could use a program to help you out. MMZ is awesome. I'm more or less addicted to the Sabre and Gun. And with ZX, I can basically be Omega Zero! And you don't mess with the classics.
Re: The Megaman seriesTopic%20Title

I like X, Legends, ZX and Zero the best. I could never seem to get into the original series.

I was always a huge Mega-Man fan since I was a child, I still have Mega-Man 1-5 on NES. Mega-Man 3 is my fav out of all the series, I beat the hell outta that game.

Legend series came around and that was ok, the game's controls was just frustrating.

Was kinda pissed when Mega-Man X came around and there was no Rush, it was depressing not to have my Dog around to help in those tough fights.Stopped playing after X6 and came back around Zero series, then .EXE crap came around and I stopped caring.

IMO, I don't count ZX as or Starforce as a Mega-Man game or anything. Mega-Man was a Robot, period!

That's just it, though. MegaMan WAS a robot. Then he died. Then X and Zero came along, who were reploids. Then they died, respectively. And now Vent/Aile/whoever is in ZXA came along, and they're kinda cyborg-type things. I'd still count cyborgs as robots, don't you think?
Also, I don't really like the EXE/Starforce series. They don't seem... genuine to me. It's just weird. I stopped at EXE 4, and didn't play the first one. I'm not even considering playing the Starforce games; they just don't appeal to me. And that's my 2 cents.

While I'm not so interested in the series anymore, the Megaman franchise will always have a place in my heart :3 I think Megaman 3 was the first video game I ever played.

I've played 1-7, Powered Up, X1-X6 & Command Mission, BN1& 2& 5, Zero 2, The Misadventures of Tron Bonne and Power Fighters. I really really want to play both Legends games and the rest of the Zero games but I can't find a single copy of the games here. And I might take a look at ZX once I find a copy of it (Somehow, finding Megaman games is hard here >___>)

As for favorite.... the X series. If I had the chance to play more Zero games I'd probably name the Zero series too since I LOVED the difficulty in Zero 2. And Zero just kicks ass.

And favorite game is probably X4. Iris... *goes into a corner and cries*
