Let me tell you something, mister. Viola is awesome. She therefore deserves to not-be in jail. YEAH. TAKE THAT LOGIC!
But seriously, I don't see how it's much worse than what Iris did. It's pretty much the exact same thing. Well, Viola does have the whole mobster criminal thing going but that's unrelated to the actual coverup of the murder (and apparently impossible to prosecute).

Yes, Viola helped Tigre cover up the crime. Even though Phoenix implicated her, that was during MAGGEY'S trial. You wouldn't be able to convict Viola for anything unless she admitted to it or if there was proof, which there was none.

But that's a pretty good point actually, since Iris was actually on trial, and she fully admitted to her part in the crime (and there was enough supporting evidence). Viola may not be pure evil, but she certainly isn't enough of an angel to turn herself in.
