OMG!!! I love this movie! I first read the book in 10th grade and I just fell in love with the story in the characters. I gotta say that when I saw the movie, Gregory Peck did such a superb job as Atticus Finch. Some of the best acting imo and he was pretty much exactly the way I imagined Atticus would be.
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

That courtroom scene was, like, the only faithful - much less decent - adaptation from the book. Everything else was totally blown out of proportion. Jem never stomped on Ms. DuBois' posies or w/e they were, there were so many scenes in the book left out in the movie, and Boo Radley was butt-ugly. Not to mention it was produced in 1962.

One of the worst book-to-movie productions I've ever watched. Seriously, there were so many missing parts that I wanted to fall asleep.

So you totally missed the part where Harper Lee loved it and thought that Gregory Peck WAS her vision of Atticus?

Agreed. I always thought that it was a very faithful adaptation, and if not perfectly accurate in terms of details and scenes, it certainly captured the essence and spirit of the book. (If you want an unfaithful/glossy misinterpretation of a book, try watching 'Memoirs of a Geisha.') Still, you're certainly welcome to your opinion.

Ditto on Gregory Peck. The man really knew how to act well his part.

FINE! I give up trying to argue about book-to-movie adaptions not being faithful to the original! Hell, it's all a matter of opinion, right?[/sarcasm]

EDIT: I wasn't disagreeing with Gregory Peck's part as Atticus. I was disagreeing with the movie as a whole, save for him. Even then...ah screw it! Refer to my above statement to fill in the blank.

Well, dude. Just because it wasn't 100% faithful doesn't mean it wasn't a great movie that captured the SPIRIT of the book well. That's what's most important in book-to-movie conversions, IMO. Look at the Lord of the Rings movies. Are they perfectly accurate to the books? No. But do they kick ass and embody the spirit of the books? Hell yes.

Harper Lee LOVED the movie adaptation of her book, because even if it wasn't exactly faithful, it managed to capture the essential spirit of the book and portray it on the big screen. So yeah.

If what you say is true, then I suppose I did miss the spirit of the book captured by the movie.

Whatever, I still don't like it.

And you're free not to.

It's one of my favorite movies (and books) of all time, personally. And like I said, the author adored it :P

oh, zuddha. Always with the bluntness.

If we're talking about how faithful a book-to-movie adaptation is regarding the spirit of the original work, I think it's fairly relevant that the author thinks it strongly DOES.

So I don't give a shit that you don't care :D
