Does the LA convention cost anything? I heard they have a playable demo of SSBB, I'm also hoping to play Contra.
Don't mind me, just passing through.

It does cost something, yes.

I am having trouble finding out details, like how to order tickets, or buy them when we get there. *le sigh* Any information you all can dig up would be great.

According to E For All's web site, going there without a prepaid pass would run you $90 for a 4-day pass. When you arrive, there should a set of on-site registration booths where you can buy these.

You'll probably have to pay for your own lodging and transport, of course.

Calm down. You waited six years for a new Smash Bros. game, waiting another couple months for them to further debug and polish up the game up isn't going to kill you.

Still pissed, why promise "We can Brawl in 06" then push it back like it's not a big F*$*ing deal.
Feels like Nintendo just spit in my eye and kicked me the balls with a steel toe boot.

February 10th. . . .unbelievable.

Great! Thanks! Soon as I get my hours at work organized, I'll take there and buy me a 4-day pass. Anything in particular any of you want me to look up? (I do this news update thing lots of times, went to both BlizzCons.)

MAJOR EDIT!

Erk. Managed to figure it all out, and got my ticket. For some reason, I get the feeling that this is a much more 'professional' expo, not just for fans. Man, am I going to feel out of place; even though, being a gamer, I'm the most essencial part of the gaming world.

Alls I need to do now is make sure I can get the days off. If I can't... well, what's a good disease to fake? Typhoid? Leporsy? Chicken pox? Brawl-Withdrawl?

If you want to register online, you can still do that, otherwise you'll have to buy it "on-site" as in actually be there the day it begins and go to the registration booth there to buy your pass.

That's the way it was run at GDC, at least. :P

Today we had two updates: further confirmation of the delayed release date and E for All, and the Snapshot feature. Nothing too out of the ordinary, though the snapshot area features a secret option still in development and which may not even make it to the final game.

Some extra stuff from hands-on reports/videos:

- Little Mac is an AT. He punches people.

- Peach's FS is strange. She creates images of herself on either side of the stage that blow kisses, and suddenly it starts raining rabid peaches (the fruit, that is).

Three big questions.

One, where are you finding these movies? IGN?

Two, whacha all think that Snapshot extra feature mode is? Invert? Snapshot + Sticker (I hope so!)?

Three... you pulled a Dave Barry there with the peaches, Ocra. *claps*

The info about Little Mac and Peach's FS came from a hands-on preview on either GoNintendo or 1UP. I think you can see part of it with Kirby in today's update.

I personally think the option might me some sort of mode to change the angle/distance/lighting of the picture to your liking, as if in a match. That's the only thing I cand think of that is important enough to blur out but may be a hastle to get into the final game.

And, uh, thanks?

EDIT: Here's something to look into. I've heard that in one of the GameSpot videos, it seems Pit does his FS twice in the same match. The videos don't work for me, so I was wondering if anyone can verify it.

Dave Barry, in case you don't know him (and I'm guessing you don't), is one of the most hilarious writers alive today; he's bloody brilliant. One of his trademark gags is to give a sentence misleading pronouns, then correct with punctuation marks. Like:

"Frogs are the most dangerous creatures to man and house. If one breaks into your home, lead the kids out of the room and hit them (the frogs) with hot pokers."

NEAT! Mo' movies!! YAY!

Little mac not playable is easily the most disappointing news ever even more then the delay. I wish sakurai would explain his reasoning since he is more deserving then half the characters already in the game. Oh well I'll just be sonic and beat up kirby when the game comes out to get my frustration out.

Ooohh, burn.

But yeah, I saw this delay coming from miles away. And, to be honest, I've go plenty of crap to do before Christmas (college applications, work, school, etc.) so that the delay actually works out really well for me. Plus, any delay just means that the title will be more solid and polished when it sees release.

tl;dr: delay is not a bad thing.

Goddamnit, can you stop whining? I mean, you got Little Mac in the game, what the hell more can you freakin' ask for? As for playability, that's not gonna happen. Why? Because Punch-Out is pretty obscure anyway. I mean, it's not as popular in Japan and it's not as popular in the US.

And we've pretty much heard enough of your lil' shitrants about Little Mac.

Liking retro games doesn't make you cool or special. It's so obvious he wasn't going to be in it. All he does in the game is punch. So how would they made four special attacks, combo's and not to mention Final Smash?

I can hardly believe that such a thing would make someone "frustrated" when playing the game, you spoiled loser.

Punch-Out is as much a "retro icon" as Pit and Ice Climbers. They got in before him. It happens.

You're right liking retro games doesn't make me cool I have to like import games like mother three to be awesome! Also how could I think little mac was bigger then the ice climbers and pit? they both only have one game and little mac has four! If you really think the ice climbers and Pit are as big as little mac then you obviously are no older then thirteen. Oh and if you really want a move set I'll give you one.

B: Rapid punches - To face/body, and can be done in repetition (like how Fox/Falco can shoot repeatedly) w/ little lag (unlike the A button combo)
B>: "Star combo" - Mac does a combo similar to Marths (but with Punches), where a barrage of punches hit the opponent. If completed a star will blink above the opponents head (just like in Punch Out for the NES)
Bv: "Cross Counter" little mac raises his arms up high and if someone hits him he still takes the damage but punches down towards them with the advantage of going down and using their force he will do three times more damage.
B^: Star Punch ( http://cache.deadspin.com/sports/miketysonspunchout.jpg ). The classic "charge" noise is intact, signifying a coming Star Punch.

A: Jab
AA: (combo) Jab, Jab
AAA: (combo) Jab, Jab, straight
A>: Hook
A>>: (smash) Haymaker
Av: A chopping left (weak, but fast)
Avv: (smash) Low swinging uppercut
A^: Right swing upward
A^^: (smash) Standing Uppercut
Running A: Pulls his right fist back then punches forward(sorta like a Falcon Punch without the flames and not that much power)

Air A: Jab
Air A>: Right hook to the opponent
Air A<: Left hook
Air Av: Haymaker (maybe downward motion)
Air A^: Strong uppercut

Grabs(Clinch in Boxing, which is more of a light hold)
A: Gut punches the opponent (body blows)
^: Uppercuts the opponent into the air
\/: Pushes the opponent away from him. There is a little bit of dizziness from this, which leaves them open.
<: Delivers a powerful right "cross".
>: Quickly switches places w/ the opponent and gives them a straight punch sending them flying

Shield- As we know SSB uses a shield for every character. Mac will would have this(unless its taken out), so he should as well having the shield raise his hands in defense("Cover-Up")

Roll/Dodge- Common move in SSB. Either way this wont matter to me but Boxers don't roll. So I say for this Mac can "bob & weave" his way around and opponent. If implemented right it'll be basically the same, just looks different.

Final Smash ("Smash Ball"): "Punch OUT" - Part of a boxing ring appears behind the opponent. Mac rapid punches the opponent in the face/stomach, a star pops up over the opponents head for less than a second (like in the NES PO) and Mac delivers a "Star Punch" to the opponent.

Taunt: The Champ - Mac looks at the screen then raises his hands/arms in celebration (http://freenet-homepage.de/tomspunchout/mac-champ.JPG)

Entrance: 1 of the following 2. A corner of a boxing ring appears, Mac gets up off a stool with Doc Louis cheering him on. Or, a small boxing ring appears with Mac standing in the center and walks out ready to Brawl just like at the beginning of a round in the NES PO.

Victories:
A: The Champ (described above, his taunt)
B: Shuffles from side to side (http://sydlexia.com/imagesandstuff/supe ... tlemac.png)
C: The Champ & referee Mario comes out and says TKO (just like when you win a a match in the NES PO)

Colors: Green(default, classic color in NES PO), Blue(2nd, fought Tyson with this color), Red(3rd), White(4th). Just like the NES game he wears a black tank top, green gloves-shorts-bottom of boot-stripe up the back of boot-inside of laces (the rest of the boot is black).

Alt. Costume: If included. He could have the first 3 color variations above and instead of White he'd have the "Pink jogging suit".

Stage: Boxing ring. With a crowd in the back ground. The ropes can block you from flying off the stage, and knock you back in the ring. If enough force is used to hit the opponent they will fly through the ropes. Light-medium attack will slingshot them back in the ring.

*sigh*

Like said before, move sets can be made for anyone. I also never said he was worse than Ice Climbers or Pit, just that he didn't get in.
Also, he was only in two games, since he wasn't in the arcade version, and only if you count his horrible freakness of the Gamecube game he has four.
I think they didn't go for him because he's a pretty generic boxer - both Ice Climber and Pit are somewhat special, in that sense.

Also, there's such a thing as being too much of a fanboy.

OK, Seriously, Stop. :zenny: Be glad that he is in the freakin' game at all. Heck, The fact he is an AT should make you happy since many other characters are just gonna end up as regular trophies that's do nothing but get playing with in a side mode and collect dust. Every fan has someone that they want to see in the game but not every character gonna make into the game. It is simply impossible for them to make every character that anyone wants to be in Brawl to be playable or even make a simple apperance. If they did, Brawl would never get release as they would have keep adding new characters just to make the fans happy. Take what you got and enjoy it.

Also, Ice Climbers and Pit both got in since they can be unique fighters in Brawl. Ice Climbers is two characters in one which is a twist on they even reused with the Pokemon Trainer. And Pit is one of the first characters to take advantage of the new flying and gliding system add for Brawl. Little Mac maybe be famous but is nothing more then a generic boxer in the big. The creators and most of the fans know that Brawl would sell better if they add a unique fighter then if they add a generic character. The fact that they add him as a AT shows that they still care for the fans wants but still all cover the bases they need to cover for good game development and good sales.

Now, Please reframe from degrading this thread for everyone else who wants to come and post.

And there, in the bolded areas lies the problem in your moveset; you gave him nearly 23 punches and punch combinations, which is far too repetitive for a good character. Not only that, but he still doesn't fit with the roster, no matter how much you want him to.

Honestly, be glad he's an assist at best. If you don't like it, just don't buy the game and go back to your crying and moping over one character.

Still pissed, why promise "We can Brawl in 06" then push it back like it's not a big F*$*ing deal.
Feels like Nintendo just spit in my eye and kicked me the balls with a steel toe boot.

What has been going on while I've been gone? Lil' Mac is lucky to be in it, because just like that bike racer assist trophy, he's pretty generic.
On another note, I'm going to look into the gamespot videos.

So much wrong with this post. Ok, let's begin:

1. Punches and punch combinations can be different. His fists are his weapons, and I don't see anyone saying Marth and Roy were awful characters for using just their swords. Hell, his fists are way more open to unique attacks than swords were, especially with what the Punch-Out boxers can do. I mean, if basically all of Ness's moves can be stolen straight from someone else in his game, why not Little Mac?

2. He fits in with the roster perfectly. He's Little Mac, the tiny 17-year old kid from the Bronx who was pretty much the eternal underdog in every boxing match ever, but still made his way to the top. Against all these stars and powerhouse characters, he's more in place than ever. Not to mention, he's the star in one of Nintendo's best retro series around.

3. People can be pissed over a disappointment. And him being an assist isn't much better, that's basically saying they remembered him, but decided characters like Ice Climbers, Pit, Sonic, Diddy, and Fox were better than him. Seriously, if that's not adding insult to injury, nothing is.
