Re: Assassin's CreedTopic%20Title

I think I'd even be willing to take Hellgate over this... this is the single most overhyped game of the year, never mind BioShock and Halo 3, at least those were actually solid games. This game is the smegma on Satan's glans, the combat is sub-par, the AI is laughable, and the story is ridiculous. It seems to be selling on graphics, and graphics alone.

He just doesn't like anything that's overhyped. Everyone who's been here for a while should know that.

Wasn't looking forward to the game at all. I didn't follow anything online about the story or anything, I just knew there was some rumor flying around about there being from future aspect of the game.

So I picked it up since I could take some money from my reserves that I never picked up to lower the price, I'm so glad I picked this game up. I love the hitman series so this is right up my alley.

When in doubt...

BLEND MODE!

"Yeees...pay no attention to me...I just stabbed a man right in front of you...I haven't even moved from this spot...yeeees, keep your head down...yeeees, look around and totally ignore me as if I'm not even there...now STAB!

Except for that one bone-headed problem with the AI, great game.

Do you honestly want to compare this with Hellgate? Really? Think hard now, are you sure you'd call that a solid game?

I want to pick this game up, but the reviews have been pretty mixed, and it also seems kinda short so I might rent it.

If I ever get this, it'll be as a Christmas present. Don't wanna shell out $60+ just yet. Or, maybe after X-mas.

Also, saw a few reviews. Looks wicked cool. Can't wait to play it.

Another game that's too popular for your tastes? :o
Image
Re: Assassin's CreedTopic%20Title

If my opinion of games was based entirely on popularity then I wouldn't be so eager to play Galaxy, the highest rated game of all time, would I?

I only dislike popular games when they don't deserve to be popular, or are far more popular than they should be.

Assassin's Creed is textbook example of the former, it's been one of the most hyped games of the year, yet it's a steaming lump of mediocrity. The only thing that really stands out is the visuals, everything else is simply... average.

Gears, You find alot of things overated. Hell, You said the only good films were Ichi the Killer, Begotten, City of the Lost Children or Eraserhead. What about George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead. It was Gory, It was a bit overrated, but it was fun. The Exorcist was also Overrated, but back when it came out it just wasn't It was practically the most scariest film back then. There was nothing to compare on which was better in terms of scariness, because when it came out, there was no person to say Freddy, Michael Myers, Pinhead or Jason is more scary, because they weren't there yet. So at the time it wasn't overrated but nowadays, It is SO overrated.

It does have Great graphics, but that is more than THAT that makes the game. The combat IS fun at parts. The AI does have a bit of a lagging feel but still isn't laughable, ((If you think those are laughable, check out Hour of Victory. Worst AI's ever)) and.....Yes, the story IS rediculous, but is it more rediculous than a fat plumber traveling to outerspace without any Astronaut suit to collect a bunch of stars and defeat a giant TURTLE!!!!!!!! who kidnapped his girlfreind? ((Plus, don't forget Luigi meets HIMSELF when you play the game as Luigi.

I played all versions of it, and overall the PS3 one is my favorite.

It's got that white-washed look that some multi-platform PS3 games get though. Not a big deal, but the lack of contrast makes everything meld together a little too much.

Also, have you experienced any of the reported (and playable) glitches?

So far, on Gametrailers, there's the Altair flight glitch (he actually FLAPS his arms and his clothes all move realistically!), the dislocated horse legs glitch (the horse, with its rear legs twisted 90 degrees to the side. Still kicks them and runs around as normal) and my personal favourite: Altair clone. It has its own AI (it fights you!) and you can switch back and forth between them!

The last one seems it might have been a leftover game element, considering you can switch and the switching even has its own sound effect. Can't imagine what context it would've been used in though.

@Byakko: Yeah, It really DOES have a lot of glitches (Mainly the windows one). But it's not like Glitches make a game ALL too bad (Remember the pause trick?)

@HH: I wouldn't say that, Holy Hell. He just needs to give more things a chance before he disses it.

One difference - the Mario games aren't supposed to be deadly serious games, they're light-hearted family games, where the only thing that matters is fun. Assassin's Creed is supposed to be a more 'mature' adventure, you shouldn't have to compare its plot to a Mario game to make it seem half-decent...

Oh, and Koopas aren't lizards. >:/

...How could anyone mistake a turtle for a lizard? They look nothing alike!

Anyway, yes Mario games are more family oriented and fun but for someone who's looking for a game with more complexity they would obviously choose something like Assassin's Creed or what-have-you over Super Mario Galaxy.

I actually meant to say turtle, I was just not thinking. Well......I'll just say it makes about as much sense as Halo. Does that work?

Wasn't one of the primary goals of this game is to create intelligent A.I.?

I think that the developers spent way too much time on that aspect to screw it up.

But the game is solid and fun, I'll play it some more once I finish Galaxy.
