I had always assumed that Phoenix Wright took place
in Japan.
My friend argues that it takes place in the United States,
but if so, I'm wondering why there are channeling temples
and channeling training places in mountains and stuff like
that, and bento boxes, etc.
So I ended up convincing her that PW takes place in
Japan, but there's one little issue with that.
When playing case 5, I noticed that it was Febraury, and
snowing. That's the steriotypical weather in the U.S.
Wouldn't it be like, spring in Japan (in February)?
I'm going to feel like an idiot if the location of PW is
confirmed as the U.S. or something. =D;;

In the US version, it's set in the US.
In the Japan version, it's set in Japan.

Honestly though, yeah, it's in the United States. Redd White makes a comment about "Americans" in the second case of the first game, leading Phoenix to think "um, dude? You're an american too.".

Mountainous regions of California do indeed have snow. This would explain Hazakura Temple.
Gourd Lake Park, though, you've got me there. It can get quite cold in CA, I wouldn't be surprised if there may have been a light dusting.
