We also have a family shi-tzu. She's really sweet. She's a companion to me, but not my equal. We give her love, free food, shelter, and health, and we request her obedience in return.

I don't know if that was directed at me or something... but seriously, my pets are my LIFE. I have severe depression, they are so much more than just "pets" to me, they are my reason for being. How many people do you know who willingly shell out $350 dollars for a feeder rat who's tail was degloved by a pet store employee (while you were standing right there)? Yes, I have.. bought that damn rat and brought him to the 24/7 emergency vet here, and had his tailbone amputated off (Named him Mel, and he was one of the sweetest rats, but it took a while to calm him down and get him to trust humans). Or $1000 for a ferret who was dumped off at your doorstep, extremely thin, and needed to go after only being with you for a week for some mysterious illness? He wound up having esophagitis but it took a LOT of tests, x-rays, bloodwork, having to syringe feed him and give him saline solutions, until finally they just put him down to put a microscope down his throat and figure out what was going on with him.

They all see vets, and I have different vets for different pets, as each one specializes in different animals, plus one who's a walk-in vet I go see if I know what's wrong with the pet and just need to pick up medicine (sometimes rats get myco flareups, which luckily I havent' had in a few years, but they need baytril or doxy and you can only get that through a vet.. the last rat who had problems with constant myco flareups was a female spayed lab rat I got through a rescue. She always had problems with it all her life, though), and another vet which is an emergency vet who's open ALL the time throughout the year, and I don't care who you are, you should ALWAYS know where your e-vet is located.. you never know when you'll need to go there.

I suppose that saying "I pay XX amount on my pets" ISN'T the same as saying that they're your world, your everything, that they're not there for entertainment value, but for companionship and love... but I've been called crazy many times for even taking my rats to a vet (and it's VERY hard to find exotic vets who even know how to care properly for rats, usually I give them a few vet books on rodents during a wellness visit so they at least know a bit on what meds to use, how to operate, etc.. because it is NOT the same as a cat or a dog, at all). I'm sorry, but the whole quote, "If you can't afford the vet, you can't afford the pet" thing is what I firmly believe in.

Also, my cat, rats, and rabbits are the best of friends.. they seriously play with each other
Spoiler:

She enjoys biting my little brother on a regular basis, and not play biting either. She goes for blood. I have no idea what he has done to her, but she just seems to have something against him.

Wow... your little brother lost his virginity to the family cat.

How old is he, if you don't mind me asking?

15. I don't get him though. As much as she tries to murder him, he still claims to love her very much. I see him in a very abusive relationship in the future.

I have a greyhound called Jodie who is 6 years old and I love her. I also have a hamster called Coco and a budgie named Peach. Coco tends to bite but loves to explore and Peach is noisy and active. I love dogs, I want a kitten, but my mum always says the road near us is too dangerous...

I know this is an old thread, but I'd rather bump than start another.

This is the Catbeast who ate part of my Miles wig and forced me to cut it short, who wears bowties on a regular basis, and has very odd, backwards-curling ears.

Lucifur is a big boy--last I checked, he weighed near on 15 pounds, but he's not very fat at all. He's super-furry, though, so he looks bigger than he is. Most intelligent cat I've ever seen/owned. Also very playful and a fab bug-hunter. "Talks" an awful lot, and enjoys being carted about over my shoulder like a baby.

Yey. <3

Okay, so I got my cockatiel Chester a month ago. A little about that... the breeder warned me multiple times that I'd be getting a wild, bitey, untameable bird because he (as well as the guy's other cockatiels) was parent-raised, supposedly not socialized with humans, and was being raised for breeding (which often does make birds aggressive towards humans). Look how true that turned out to be. XD

I have 5 cats, and 2 dogs.

One of my cats weigh 18 pounds, and she's been on a vet-approved diet for a REALLY LONG time and she's lost 2 pounds so far.

I don't have a picture of any of my pets right now, but I'll post some. Eventually.

Pictures to come later--aka whenever I can get the cord I need to transfer them from my cellphone to my laptop...

Two birds: Samson and Delilah, both cockatiels. Technically family pets, but Samson's rather close to me.
Two dogs: Cinnamon (Jack Russell Terrier) -Total freak to her breed. Most Jack Russells are hyperactive holy terrors. Cinnamon's the laziest dog I've ever seen.
Sassy (Teacup Poodle) - Holy terror covered in fuzz. Living alarm clock. Coffee-lover. [My grandpa was the one to get her started on coffee. She begged him.]
Two betta fish: Soiree Meira - Named for Soiree from KOF MI. He's got dark blue fins.
Klaiver Gavin - Named for Klavi-kins...erm...Klavier. He has silver-blue fins.
Two kittens: Romeo - Runt of the litter. He's so adorable. I didn't name him. My aunt did before he was old enough to be given to me.
Trucy - She's grey and striped with two brown spots on her back. I'd decided to name her Trucy before I even knew her--just so long as she was female. If she'd have been male, she would have been Shen. ...But as we know, she's a she. But some AJ spoilers would give a hint to one of her big talents. Not going to discuss said spoilers.

I has a bootiful kitty. 8D He's my Dissy. I've posted some pictures before, but I can't seem to find them at the moment D: I'll upload later.

He's old :C He's like 12 now, but he's still my little baby. I seriously go around the house looking for him all the time so's I can snuggle with him XD Lately I've been upset because I know his time's coming...and I don't know what I'd do without him D:

He's so sweet. He sleeps right up against me. When I'm sitting down on the floor, he curls up against my butt or one of my legs. He follows me around the kitchen and ALWAYS follows me to the bathroom. He lets me sleep right up against him too, if I'm sleepy X3333 He naps in my laundry and on my mother's bed, and he's an awfully nosy little thing.

He rubs against everything, and when I have sleepovers, he jumps up onto the bed with me and my friends and curls up with us.

No matter what I may say differently, he is my TRUE best friend. D:
