Ok guys, I've just acquired the GS Dictionary and yes, it's confirmed...

THE GS3 BGM HAS BEEN DS-FIED.

I'll be posting a few songs later, they sound really awesome so far! Gant

Oooooh? What's the extent of the soundtracks? Select classics? Or is it the whole she-bang plus?

Songs will be forthcoming.... I'm actually really surprised to say the least considering GS3 is my 2nd favorite concerning the BGM. Eh?

Well.... I was REALLY looking forward to hearing the GS3 music in DS format. Capcom did an excellent job converting GS1 and 2 music and even improved upon the songs. However, I guess with the development of GS4, they basically had zero to no time to spruce up the GS3 music, so it's obvious they didn't put as much effort into it..

Nope, they're not GBA rips, they sound like that on the GS dictionary. Dr. Grey

Examination Moderate barely sounds touched up from it's GBA counterpart, the instrument change is more apparent in Allegro.

I listened to most of the songs and they sound all sound similar. Capcom just basically replaced the instruments with much higher ones. To be honest, you're really not missing much by not hearing the other songs. I may post a few more songs up if anyone wants them. Sadshoe

Hearing it from my DS Lite almost sounds like the GBA version.

I have to hook it up to my speakers to notice the small difference.

Now that I can record in good quality, I'm gonna make a full album rip.

Although all you really need to do is take the GBA soundtrack and change the pitch of the instruments.

This can't be the music they'd use for GS3 DS. It barely sounds different :(

I hope it's different in the final release, but seeing how capcom was more dedicated to GS4, this may be what we're stuck with. Sadshoe

Somehow, I doubt that this is the actual, final version of the music, just because the volume levels are so disparate...the high frequencies are a million times louder than the low frequencies. This is either a bad initial recording of them, or definitely NOT the final version - that's what I think.

I really hope that's the case and we get improved music by the actual release.

Plus, I've decided not to do the full album rip anymore, I'm still getting some volume problems which sound really apparent. I may upload a few more songs and will do some requests.

Lemme know if there are some specific tunes you guys want to hear, although I'll only take a few requests. If any of you can do a much better rip, pm me and I'll *ahem* provide the resources... Hobohodo

If you do upload some other tracks, do you think you can do Elise Tenryuusai's theme? I'm kinda nervous to see how that one turns out, though I guess the bass is a pretty small part of the piece.

This sounds dreadful to me, I'm sorry to say. So tinny. This is really easy to fix (depending on the program, a single click/drag will take care of it), so I hope they take the time to EQ this stuff before the actual port happens.

Regardless if it's a direct dump from the GBA. They need to use the DS's Instrument Software, there'll be some changes regardless.

Hm, these sound better on the actual hardware than in the samples posted. The GBA soundtrack still sounds fuller at this point, but there's quite a ways before it gets released, so you never know what will happen.

Edit: OH GOD HAZAKURAIN *dies of misery* Whoever looped that flute sample needs to be shot.

Edit again: Elise's theme sounds very nice, though.

I want the courtroom music. By far the best courtroom music in the whole series, and it's bound to sound touched up and overall very nice on the DS.

If they use what's on the encyclopedia in TaT, someone will die. There's no way; it's just the GBA music and it sounds bad because it hasn't been adapted to the DS sound chip. They have plenty of time to rearrange it for TaT, hopefully.

I've decided not to record anymore music from the encyclopedia because I'm starting to believe Capcom just dragged and dropped the GS3 GBA music from their dev kits into their DS dev kits.

You're really NOT missing much. I do hope it's properly remastered for TaT.

No no no, this stuff is from Gyakuten Saiban Dictionary, a database cartridge that came in the Limited Edition of GS4.

Try comparing the DS music from JFA with the so-claimed 'DS music' from the GS2 portion of the encyclopedia. It's GBA quality.

I had the same thought you had, but decided to refrain from doing anything as it was obviously not DS music.

The music comes from the Encyclopedia thing included with the Pre-order packs of GS4. They didn't bother to spruce up the music for GS3, like they had already done with the last two.

You're actually wrong. They did spruce up the music, they just didn't have time to do so with the Encyclopedia. The actual in game music will be good.

They will have. They had 5 five months till release, and they were probably working on it long before it was announced. It'd be extremely retarded to ship a DS game with GBA music. I know this coz I'm a Capcom insider.

Even if the tracks in JFA were remixed, though, you can't really tell. The music in AA definitely sounded like it was remixed; JFA, not so much.

Hopefully the T&T music'll be better.

PW:AA was the first title, and had to be somewhat redone a little to at least hook the innocent vic...consumer and get them hooked on the franchise at the start. The priority there would obviously have been to make an attempt at making it sound a little more DS'd so that people would kinda look past the fact that the first 4 cases could <And, obviously, were> be done on a GBA.

The sequal, I guess, is where the need to impress died - a straight up musical port was probably cheaper and easier for a game that was, lets face it, lower up in the priority chain for them.

I'm of half mind about the chances of remixed Music for the third.
As much as I want to see it happen, Capcom aren't always 100% with the little things...especially if there are bigger projects to get behind. As such, why spend extra revitalising a soundtrack on a game that most of their usual 'targeted' crowd don't buy/support/know of.

Eh, If it happens, great...but I can't see it somehow.
and it's not like GS3's soundtrack was terrible anyway to begin with...I can make do with it, no problem.

{ But that's just the one person, and not the majority...=P }
