Actually, I wouldn't mind letting my sig do the announcing for me, but unfortunately I can't get the text and the spiffy sprite picture I cooked up to behave around each other. I want more than one line of text horizontally next to my picture - is that too much to ask?

Personally, I realize a lot of people are into slash, and I don't mind those people, but I resent the fact a little that it is by far the most prevalent pairing to be found. Even the amount of Phoenix/Maya and Phoenix/Iris, which are arguably the two pairings for Phoenix with the most evidence to support them, is dwarfed by the piles of

I don't want any of the discussed pairings to be canon, even though I find some the fanart and stuff of Phoenix x Mia, Phoenix x Maya and Phoenix x Iris (aaand Phoenix x Godot) to be absolutely lovely. Phoenix x Mia I *kinda* wanted to happen, but after playing 3-5 I got that impression that Mia still loved someone else and was mourning over that person until her death... so, being in a relationship with Phoenix would have sort of broken that seemingly "strong" bond between her and that someone...

In general? I don't know. But on LiveJournal, yes. For some reason, fandom has split distinctly on gender lines in that case -- someone polled the main PW community a few weeks ago, and it was overwhelmingly female. That's not to say they're all slash fangirls, or than men can't be slashers, but the demographics are very different there from here.
Also, the kink meme is mostly a small group of people writing for each other -- it's going to build on itself. (Though I'm a P/E sort of girl, everything I've written for it has been other pairings or none at all, and most of my requests weren't P/E either.) The best way to change it up would be to contribute, and then request, things that aren't slash. Watch out for rampant AJ spoilers, though, if you care.
