I got to thinking and I realized how amazingly damaging Garyuu's actions were. I mean we're talking on the scale of Lana confessing that her office forged evidence. Think about it, all of Phoenix's cases would now be suspect. Every person Phoenix put away could apply for an appeal, and what with the four best prosecutor's gone leaving only Payne and a rookie, people like Redd or Matt could hire new lawyers. (Or possibly even Garyuu himself, but I don't think Nick would have gotten near him if he was the one who put any one of those people back on the street. Still...what better way to make a name for yourself than by erasing the work of a legend.) Also, all of the people Nick set free would also be damaged as people would again doubt their innocence. To compound that all of the prosecutor's names would be ruined as well. (Save Payne, but we know he doesn't count.) As they lost to a crooked lawyer and couldn't do their jobs properly. The Police would suffer ANOTHER reputation hit, as Nick was a close ally and Gumshoe's (I predict) VERY vocal protests would NOT help. Larry, the Feys, and Gumshoe would stay by him, and possibly his clients. As for the rest of the world, he would be all but finished. I think this puts Garyuu right up there next to Von Karma, Gant and Chinami in the evil list.

And you got to remember that some of them confessed, and even Matt couldnt escape from De Killers wrath...

I don't think it would go that far. Most of the guilty confessed and/or were tricked by Phoenix into falling for his tricks to catch them. It's pretty clear they were guilty, and despite Phoenix getting disbarred, there's too much going against the guilty that it would be useless for them to get an appeal after their conviction.

Also, the only one I could see trying to appeal is Acro... can't see Bat if he's dead, after all.

Not all the villains from Phoenix's arc would be still alive as I"m sure the ones who got the death penalty have been executed by the start of GS4....
