EchoGarrote... well, if you think you can do Gunther justice (he's slightly intimidating to start writing for, but then it starts to FLOW and is fun) then by all means, be my guest. He's very, very fun to write for, and I'd like to see what you have planned.

Cloud Riven... love the sig, by the way. Thanks for the praise, Gunther, again, was lots of fun to write for :)

mog... thanks! High praise indeed... though I know that certain writers who are writing even as we speak (musouka/Raelle) are going to write much better A/F than me. I was first, they'll be best :P Thanks for your comment though!

blackadder... haha, all the way from LL. Thanks for reading and enjoying!

Yet more art from Zarla who continues to be wonderful. These are some of Gunther's "court animations" were he in the game...

I wish I could make sprites :(

I love both FWIP ones, and I ADORE the bushy ponytail for his !!! animation. Am I alone on that one? >.>

Nope. I love 'em, too (both the FWIP and !!! animation). Edgy Thinks It (the bushy pony-tail for his !!! animation) fits Gunther to a "T", not to mention that it very funny as well. :)

Wow.

Just finished reading this.

CFTF, you certainly know how to craft a story. I'm completely blown away by your characterizations of Fran and Adrian. That's why I started reading it in the first place; I'm not a huge fan of KirioMei, but I do like both of the characters, and the way you've handled them here is phenomenal. The love story is one of the best I've ever seen - you're not relying on OOC archetypes to make it happen, and the fact that the romance between the two of them is dependent upon their real personalities is what makes this story so good. Frankly, I don't think it could have been better executed.

Bravo!

P.S.- ADORED Gunther. But really, who didn't? Larry

CantFakeTheFunk will recognize these from a week ago, but I'll post these in the thread anyway. They aren't up to the standard of the awesome Zarla, but I still think they're cool.

While I'm more of a Phoenix/Adrian supporter, (Once I finish brotherly turnabout I'll be working on one of those) this is a beautiful story. Great writing, great descriptions, great story....

Am I bumping? I hope not. Eh?

I’ll admit it. This is one of the reasons I signed up here (the others being because I’ve been lurking for a little while and you guys are awesome… and Zizzo joined).

I absolutely love this fanfic… so much. I’ve read the entire thing at least seven times (mostly on my Wii when my sister stole the laptop) and my favourite parts/chapters way more than that. I know this fic has a huge following and you’ve received loads of praise for it, but it’s possibly my favourite fanfic ever, and I need to give some kind of commentary on it.

First off, the characterisation for Adrian and Fran were just amazing. The fic was so long and yet I can’t think of one scene where either of them slipped and did anything or acted in a way I can’t imagine them doing according to their in-game personas. The care you have for them shines through so much in your writing… they’re developed and you make the reader care about them both so much. My personal favourite bits were Fran’s “talk” with Manfred and Adrian talking about her relationships with Celeste, Matt and Juan.

The pacing was excellent; the entire thing flowed beautifully and it never moved too fast or slowly; I’m a bad, impatient reader and often end up skipping a boring paragraph of description or something and then needing to go back because I missed something important but here it just wasn’t the case. Everything was interesting and relevant, but you didn’t miss out on any important character development because of it (can you teach people how to do that? If so I’d love to know).

One of the things that I love about it so much is simply that it’s so darned cute. There were so many little sentences and phrases that made me practically melt… especially the talk the two of them have in chapter four, the dream sequence and the mega-emotionally-charged atmosphere afterwards in chapter seven, and, naturally, the dance scene in the final chapter.

And it was all done so tastefully. A fic with lesbians… and no sex. It’s unheard of, but I just loved it. Even the dream sequence was done with so much subtlety that even though it did have, as you put it “dream-maybe-sex”, not once did you move from the emotional side of their relation into the purely physical. Little things like Franziska’s reaction to Adrian’s dress in the shop or the rings the two of them wore in the dream were more sweet and romantic than any sex scene.

Another thing I was hugely grateful for was that there wasn’t any “Omg, I’m a woman and she’s a woman!”-type angsting. Aside from the talk at the restaurant, the word “lesbian” doesn’t even feature. It’s not a woman in love with a woman – it’s Adrian in love with Franziska. The genders of the characters are irrelevant; it’s their personalities and the spark between them that matters.

The epilogue was awesome, too. I especially loved it finishing with a phone call from Franziska to Adrian, mirroring the beginning… it was just so d’aww.

And I loved Gunther. I don’t think it’s possible to read this fic and NOT totally love him, but I felt I should say so anyway. He’s the best OC I think I’ve ever seen… he slots into the PWiverse perfectly and he’s brilliant and hilarious and you manage not to overuse him. Awesome stuff.

God, I could ramble on for days about how much I love this, I really could, but I’d probably bore you to tears, so I’ll try and offer some constructive criticism.

During chapter four, when they’re on their way to the restaurant, Adrian says “You mentioned Miles earlier… who did you mean? Who’s this ‘Miles’ that picked out such a cute outfit, because he’s got very nice taste.”. It’s no big deal at all, but Franziska mentions Miles a number of times previously, (“Miles… he has Wright to trust to do the right job”, “You would have never had to face Miles on the stand…”, “I-isn’t this the phone number I left with Miles to give to you?” and so on) and Franziska isn’t an informal person who calls anyone she isn’t close to on a first-name basis. Adrian’s an intelligent, perceptive girl and it just struck me as odd that she didn’t pick it up before then. She might have, and chosen not to ask, but the reaction of surprise from her was a little off, I felt.

The only other thing that I can nitpick at all (and, trust me, I’m grasping at straws to find anything negative to say here) is the irregularity of typing numbers. Again, in chapter four, Adrian says “Aren’t you eighteen, though?” and a couple of sentences later Franziska says “My sister went to university when I was 5”. It’s a simple, tiny thing, but it slightly disrupts the flow of writing when you flick between figures and typed-out numbers.

And I should probably end here. This is the longest review I’ve ever written (longer than some of my fics, actually), but I love Follow the Fool so much I needed to. When I have a spare huge-amount-of-time I’ll properly review One of These Things Does Not Belong (and Scar Tissue) and then wait on tenterhooks for anything else Adrian/Fran-ish from you. Because, my God, I liked this pairing before… I spotted and totally loved the vibe between them the first time I played JFA, but after reading this I’m in love with the pairing like you wouldn’t believe.

So thank you for that. So much. Adrian

Jebus.

I... feel really awful that I can't respond to that in a proper manner. Really, that deserves like a response essay in and of itself. I'm a freaking writer and I'm speechless. Thank you SO much for reading, for liking it like you did, and for writing that... I'm stunned, at a loss for words, blown away, and all of those. And I didn't even CATCH the Miles/Adrian thing. Good eye. >.> I'll have to fix that if I ever get around to editing/rewriting this :P

Seriously, I can't find the words to thank you enough for that. Hope you don't mind. >.<

Just finished reading this and- WOW.
Unfortunately, I'm far too lazy to do a spiffy essay-esque review like Dannichu (eww rhyme XD) so let me keep this simple.
The writing style was so fluent and vivd, and the characterization was wonderful, and omg I think I have been inspired to draw lots of Frannie Andy arts wtf. :D
Also, Gunther = instant win.
Seriously, you are a genius.<3

Ooh, I just noticed something else (because I'm retarded/obsessed (delete where applicable);

“So, he would have found Otto Ostvald guilty. And then what would have happened…?” It was more rhetorical than not, but Franziska was past the point where she cared anymore.

“It’s on a case by case basis, but… it was murder. He would have probably been given the death penalty. He would have been innocent, but my father would have gotten him the death penalty… and maintained that perfect record of his.”

Germany doesn't have the death penalty :D
I don't think anywhere in Europe does, actually.
Still, the effort and research put in to making the setting feel like Germany totally paid off; from the obviously German names (which lots of people wouldn't have bothered with at all) to smaller things like the descriptions of locations that seemed (to me, at least) distinctly European, to just have one cultural flaw is pretty amazing.

I read this fic a long time ago, but it just now suddenly occurred to me that I don't think I've ever written an in-depth comment on it o.o Or one at all, even o.o

And now, I don't even know where to START, so I'll start with the characterization. Both of them were spot-on. I adored Franziska's strong, independant, whatever-I-want-I-get character and how her confidence crumbled when she was thrown into the situation of true, romantic love, also with how she opened up more and more and her past and emotions came out beautifully. I loved how eager-to-please Adrian was, how she was the emotionally mature one and how she, too, opened up. The dynamic between them just SIZZLED. The dialogue and the way you captured their feelings was gorgeous and natural, from their meeting up through the kiss at the dance up to their parting and the phone call at the end. The style and quality of your writing just kept me absolutely captivated to the point of having to read the entire thing in one sitting. I already liked Franzy, Adrian, and FranzyxAdrian before reading your story, but Follow the Fool was what really cemented my love for the two of them. I honestly don't think it would be POSSIBLE for anybody reading your fic not to end up loving these two. I wish I had more to say about this but I really cannot find the words to describe how much I love this fic except that it's easily my favorite romance fic, ever, even among published fiction.

...and Gunther was LOVE Gant I also liked Hans =)

Oh my goodness. There are so many wonderful things I could say about this fic. When I first read this, I hadn't even heard of Friska/Adrian, (Not surprising though, considering I was fairly new to the fandom) but this story did a very good job of making me a fan. Keep writing! I'm glad to hear that the story made more fans out of this wonderful couple. :D

If you liked it, you should go read anything and everything Raelle/Lerayl and Musouka write, because they're roughly 10x better than this story :D I especially recommend Lerayl's "Realization of Perfection" if you liked this one, as it's Franny-focused and is probably the best character-introspective fic I've ever read (with plenty of VK Sibling ADORABLE). That, and Musouka's work-in-progress epic, "Struggling Against Gravity." It's being written....very slowly... but is amazing. Even if you don't like Phoenix/Edgeworth, you should give it a try, because it's that damn good.

Funk! Hisashiburida ne?

I finally found you! Well, sorta. I wasn't really trying until I saw your name crop up here. Just got into the fandom (blame one of the people I introduced to the game), and noticed you'd written a few. Awesome job! I've always thought that Frans/Adrian had a lot of depth, and the most potential of any ship (well, besides maybe Gumshoe/Maggie) because... well... so many pairings are just shooting fish in a barrel. =P

I, too, love Gunter. He's like a bastard Von Karma, abandoned at birth to be adopted by Ema Skye.

Wow. Just...wow, CFTF. I really love your writing style - it's given me a better idea of how good (or not so) I am, and how much better I could be. And even then, I'm not sure I could include the little subtleties like you did...anyone who's read my latest work can testify that I'm about as subtle as Moe is funny. XD;; (Though I guess it's not as important in a comedy?)

I'm sorry to ask (again) in here, but just in case you missed my PM, I was wondering about a possible Gunther cameo in my "Turnabout in Wonderland"? I just love his character, and I have an idea for a scene already...I promise, if you say yes, I'll try my best to do him justice!
