I have to say that I haven't been following all this activity as closely as I should, but I do have a good excuse. The first song I wrote for this show finally got the decent recording treatment! Enjoy "A Guy You Can Trust" the way it was meant to be.

Special thanks to my dad for providing the walking bass on the keyboard.

I had way too much fun recording Gumshoe's crazy lines and making the intro melodramatic with the keyboard's choir and organ. For the lyrics, I mostly used Shink's changes with one or two exceptions. And my sister-in-law showed up randomly, so I had her record Maya's lines at the last second...heh.

Shink, take a shot at it!

Triforce: As expected, awesome to the extreme. I can't wait to try this out!!!

I'm too tired tonight, though, pal. Sometime over the next few days, I promise <3

Everyone else: I'm loving the new songs! I'm working on a little something else that will hopefully help to get this project organized a bit for when Ethed makes her triumphant return ... I'll post more on it when I've got it ready :)

Maybe you should update them in your signature. That way people can pull them from any of your posts when they need them. :D

Edit: Also, awesome remakes as usual. :P Though....something bothers me about the synthesized cymbal in "Samurai"... Sounds...I guess, out of place. And the drums and cymbal kinda overwhelm. I can see the reason you put them in, but I think there's just too much crashing; the sounds of the drums and cymbals are very sharp in comparison. A more muted drumbeat and cymbals used less consistently (and more at just the important phrase endings or climax notes) I think might fit in better. :payne: But then again, that's just me. No one else has said anything about it, and it is your song, so you get the final say, really. You write awesome stuff no matter if it's full of crashing or not. :redd:

OK, I know I already posted this once... but when I listened to it again, I thought I could do better. So, I took a 2nd crack at it. I like this recording better.

I've got some feedback on the VonKarma song that it may be a little repetetive and I need to change up the ending at least... ... I'll work on it!

Triforcebun: I love all the different instruments you added in there-especially the trumpet! I think everyone else already commented about how awesome it is. ^_^ Thanks for the the work you've been putting in!

YAY, FF3GIRL! <333

I DO like that version better. The transitions between the lower notes and the higher notes were a lot smoother (the whole thing was smoother, really), and I liked the quality of your voice a lot better. :D *gives a cookie*

Wow, A lot of stuff to comment on...

Minuki - You Sounded Very Disney! And you'd probably Make a Good Maya(your voice sounds a BIT to young for Mia =/
FF3Girl - WOW! Great Second take of Justice for All, and I take back what I said about the Latin, These Choruses made it Work!
Triforcebun - YAY Another one! I really like the Saxophone when He sings about Missle, Whoever was doing Phoenix Sounded Really Quiet =P
I can't seem to remember if theres anything else to Comment on, and if there isn't then I probably didn't have anything to say anyways.

The Mailman didn't even come today >_>, We Put Mail in to go out this morning, and at 10:00pm the flag was still up, Lazy Bastard.
Its bad enough he doesn't even come until Like, 6:00pm the Earliest, I have a feeling that my Mic wont arrive until Monday or something.

Heheh yeah, that was me doing Phoenix as well, and I was too far from the mic in the beginning. I really should've fixed it, but it had slipped my mind until I already uploaded it...

No biggie, though, there will be better Gumshoes and Phoenixes hopefully recording that.

FF3girl, really nicely done. Clearer, more precise, and more emotional than the first take (and your first take was already good).

Alright, firstly, I meant more of a "brass" waltz. And not "High tempo trumpets". I mean the "constant pauses after Tuba/Baritone bursts, with maybe Cello's in the back playing long riffs" type. You know, the dark style... One example is... hmm... If anyone has this song, you know what I mean:

In the Super Smash Bros. Orchestra CD, the Depth of Brinstar song, the moment RIGHT after the "Missile" jingle, right until the upbeat point.

Lemme see... I'll first try to type at least HALF of a possible script for "Fight, Fight, Samurai!" (because TB typed LOADS of it already, XD) and I'll post it... however... I am unable to sing the lines easily, nor can I play any instruments, so if I may ask, TB, could you try to maybe perform it as best as possible? I do have some ideas for it, but one thing I noticed: Yer able to get singers easily (whereas if I asked my family, they'd probably kick me arse!).

I'll update progress in a bit, but one thing ATM I have conformed: TB's part will have to be all together, preferably at the start of the song, and sung at a semi-fast tempo by someone with either a DEEP, or STRONG voice. (I hate myself, because I read this post and think "It looks like I'm criticizing him! Darn it! I suck at wording!)

As stated prior, my post will be up later on. Ciao for now, eh?

Do you want Will Powers to sing it, or Jack Hammer, or just a general "narrator" type guy? I thought it'd be a nice song for Maya to sing, as it's going to be fast, dramatic, and something really fitting for her character (and we only have one Maya song up so far).

But yeah, upload the rest of it and the music to go with it and I'll see what I can do.

Haha... when I read TB, all I can think is Tuberculosis... I had to get a TB test before I could do my student teaching... :-P Anyway, TriforceBun, thanks for the compliment. I really like the idea of Maya singing part of a Steel Samurai song, too! Maybe she could sing it together with the narrator? Fangirls always sing along with theme songs. Edit: I have an awesome image in my head of her doing a bunch of choreographed "samurai moves" along with the narrator ..

Sorry, I'm not very familiar with Super Smash Brothers. Truth be told, there are only a few video games I actually play. Maybe you could find a video on youtube of something similar?

ff3: YES! That is indeed the song. :larry2:

TB: YES! That is indeed the part of the song! Just around 1:54-ish, is the start of it. Powerful, sudden, bursts of brass instruments. You want something that sounds like it's constant, repetitive, impact, when you want to show Manfred... also, we need something moderately simple... and for some reason, I can imagine him speaking about the perfection of his own song at one point. lol.

I'm working on a new song. For it, I need to know, how do you pronounce "Vasquez"?

And no, the song doesn't really involve her or have to do with her. It may or may not center around a certain prosecutor coming to a certain realization at the end of a certain act.

...This is definitely the most difficult thing I've done so far on this project...

Vasquez is a Spanish name--lucky me, I know Spanish! ^_^

z's in Spanish are pronounced the same as s. So her name would sound like:

vahs-kehs

Are you writing Edgeworth's song next?? I would be so relieved if you are, because I must have worked for about three hours to try to come up with something before I got frustrated and stopped. I'll edit this post with my lyrics in a bit to see if any of the ideas strike you. I'm sure you already have your own splendiferous ideas, but two heads are better than one, etc, etc.

Spoiler: my lyrics I've been working with
Verse
I always had been perfect in this war
I’d never lost one battle before
To discontinue evil deeds
I did whatever justice needs
I wonder now, what has it all been for?

Why is it when I’ve gained a victory
The people never have rejoiced with me?
Though I always gave my all
To see every guilty fall
Why do I hear no triumphant call?

Chorus
The only way to stop the ones
Who strike fear into our hearts
Is to find all clients guilty
I have to play this part

So what if some are innocent, I do what must be done.
I do it for the better good, I’m not the only one.

Verse
No woman, man or child should have to be
Placed in the horrid sights that I have seen
If I don’t put them away
They might kill another day
To not stop those I can would be obscene

My father made it clear to me that day
Though this is something he never would say
One man who wants righteousness
Cannot make a difference
I thought, until Wright got in my way

Chorus:
The meek inherit all the Earth
Was father’s shield and sword
He protected them with all his worth,
And what was his reward?

I know that some were innocent. My God, what have I done?
Forgive this lack of glee for me, that Phoenix Wright has come.

Wrestlemania--have you listened to my VonKarma song, yet? I actually think I use a pretty similar idea to the pulsing brass, except I use pulsing organs (and as my sister pointed out to me, he does have background organ music in the game).

Holy cow, nice lyrics.

I'm actually stuck on the lyrics, but I have most of the music. The way I have it right now, however, is mainly...

-Edgeworth is feeling disgraced and initially blames Wright for it (who isn't there, but you know, he's singing to himself, it's a soliloquy)
-Pace picks up and Edgeworth decides he won't let Wright beat him again and he'll do what he can to win
-Back to mellower, minor key part, starting to doubt in his methods, 'if I send a good man to death, am I any better than those I persecute' type stuff
-Pace picks up again annnnd...not sure what to put here yet
-(SURPRISE MYSTERY PART, WHEE)
-Big finish

Your lyrics are very good, though, and you've got a lot more of 'em than I've got right now...hm...

Yea, your idea sounds rockin. Sounds like a better way to show Edgeworth's change of heart. You should stick with that.

I guess my lyrics are a little emo. I don't really include enough about his change in view except for the little bit of doubt in his questioning at the end. I think that showing his change of view on life would be more difficult, because between cases 3 and 4, the game doesn't really go into that very much. It sounds like you're stuck at that, too. :yuusaku:
Quote:

Edit: I wonder if this song could even be a transition into the scene where we see him holding the gun. The whole "Am I better than those I persecute?" idea might lead into it.

Meh. Just an idea.

Okay, TriforceBun, your little preview WAS pretty cool an' all ... but I really like ff3girl's song that she was working on. Her lyrics were all nice an' emo ... But your idea was pretty cool, too ... Having him switch back and forth between emotions like that ... Oh nos! I'm just like him!! XD ::ahem::

Okay, I told her she could work on your song if she promised not to give up on her own. This's her first time trying to write stuff like this and I think she's pretty good. I don't want her to give up yet. :phoenix:

Ah, well of course I didn't want to keep anyone from writing their own Edgeworth song. I think in this case, we had the misfortune of both working on a song for him at the same time.

I still really want to hear ff3girl's melody to go with that, because the lyrics sound fitting for Edgeworth. The part I've already written is mainly the determined and somewhat vengeful side of him, but I still need plenty more of his uncertainty and "emo-ness" in the other slower sections, hehe.

Who knows, we may even be able to squish both songs into one SUPER SONG.

But in the future, I think to avoid this, perhaps we should be more open about which parts of the play we might be working on at the time.

Honestly, guys, I wouldn't worry too much about writing more than one song for a character. No reason we can't use both, in different places, or hold one over until we start working on another PW musical, and adjust the lyrics to fit. :redd:

Well, the problem of course was that we were both writing a song for the same character at the same part- end of case 3.

Don't worry, Triforcebun, I was completely stuck on my song before I even knew you were writing one.

Not to nitpick too much, but I noticed y'all were talking about the pronounciation of Vasquez...While it's true that 'z' sounds similar to 's' in spanish, the name Vasquez would still sound more like Vahs-Kehz.

I think a more Americanized version of the name would sound like that. Most Americans do pronounce the 'z.' But if you pronounce it the Spanish way, there is no 'z' sound in Spanish as we know it in English. You're right, though, it's a nit-picky thing that most people wouldn't really care about or notice.

I'm very interested in where this is going, and all these songs are sounding great.

@ff3girl and TriforceBun: You both used the word "persecute" when talking about Edgeworth's song. I'm pretty sure you mean "prosecute" as those two words have very different conotations.

He's right, though, we should be more careful. Those words do mean different things.

But thanks for sticking up for my typos. :ayame:

Oh my goodness, my voice has been sigged!

I'm immortally engraved into the internet!

(I'm looking forward to taking a swing and the new Edgeworth material.)

Thanks, lalalei! I think? If you're talking about the recordings linked on ThePhanomOtaku's sig. If you're talking about Triforcebun's recordings, I would bet he's thankful for the compliment, too, if I had to guess.

Man, this thread has been so slow the last couple of days? Whatup, people?! :udgy:

Edit: Anyway, when I was listening to the instrumental of Triforcebun's "Justice for All", I couldn't help but think that this song is so perfect for a recurring theme throughout the musical! It makes wonderful happy victory music!
