“I am supposedly heir to the throne of Ice Country,” Yuki explained. “When I was 2 years old, 15 years ago, a mass murder occurred in the Palace. A snakelike beast murdered my parents and 16 older brothers. I’ve no idea how I survived… I think the trauma of the event caused me to suppress all my memories of my heritage. From then on, I was raised by my cousin’s parents. Or, at least, that’s what that woman told me…”

“Then I came here, and was taken into this family,” Yuki finished.

Heading towards Ryan and Yuki, Ryu the Kid was smiling.
"I knew you're the princess. So I leave it to you at times like that, knowing that you do have ice powers." Ryu said solemnly, looking at the snowy ground.

"I can't remember my past as well, and unfortunately for me that NO ONE ever told me the origin of my phantom powers. No, I rather say it as skills than powers." Ryu continued, this time pulling out a sapphire pendant out of Ryu's vest.

"This, is a royal emblem or something that has been with me since... ugh, I can't remember!" Ryu agonises when trying to recall the past. Evan seemed to know but The Mystical Amphy decided to leave everything to Time.... after all, tampering with humans' fate and/or destiny would cause paradoxical results in the long run~

((R_Bond, Gerk said that RPs must be AT LEAST 50 words....
by the way, I'll be free on Sunday so I excuse myself for now))

"Wait, how did you know about this, Ryu??" Ryan said, more confused and suspicious than ever. There was still something they weren't telling him; he could tell by the look on their faces. He took a few painful steps closer to the both of them. "What the hell is going on here!? What am I not being told??"

((Naruhodou, I know that, and I try my best to follow that rule. But it's kinda pointless if there's nothing else to add. The ultimate goal of these new rules is to add more depth to the RPs. It sorta defeats the purpose if the added fluff dilutes the initial intention of the post.))

((To be honest, I’m just pulling this out of a Naruto RP that I used to do, which is why it all seems out in left field. I didn’t make mention of the ice powers at first because I wanted to create a different character for a different universe, but it makes this more interesting that way.))

“I’m guessing that my cousin’s parents raised me as a normal child to protect me from that…creature from my past,” Yuki said, shuddering. “But I only learned of my past recently, a little while before I came to this city. Ryu… How did you know?” Yuki looked between Ryu the Kid and the sapphire pendant, and back again.

After getting up, Todog noticed the two glinting pendants, one crimson red, the other an azure blue. " Beautiful." He murmured as he stared, entranced. After a few seconds, he snapped back into reality, and then noticed something. " He-ey. That ruby lets you control ice, right? And that sapphire is.. phantom related things? I sense a connection!" he exclaimed, and then made a gesture signaling to bring the two gems together.

“I doubt they’re connected,” Yuki said to Todog, in response to his remark about her and Ryu’s pendants. “It was my mother’s idea to hold our powers in a gem—and by ‘our,’ I mean mine, hers, and my brothers’—and they’ve all been dead for 15 years. Plus, my home, Ice Country… Let’s just say it’s too far away for anyone to travel to. So, I don't think there'd be any connection. But that's just my opinion.”

Yuki shook her head. "I know what you're getting at, Ryan. Ryu is definitely not one of my brothers. I know all of their names, and they all had ice powers like mine. None were named Ryu, and none of them had phantom powers. And they're all...they're all dead. They died in the Ice Massacre 15 years ago. And none of them had a sapphire as their gem."

"Pffffff........" Out went some smoke from the mouth of a man standing outside of not only the building in question, but leaning on a black hatchback frame car that shined in the light. It had a rear spoiler that would quite easily resemble that of a racing car, although he went for the more "sleek and natural" look to make it look a bit better, among the modifications to the car, there was the front bumper which had headlights attached it for better light, side and rear spoilers just to make it a bit easier to turn, and tires that had black rims. Black, spiky hair was ruffled and then straightened as a swig of mouthwash was taken then spit out. Cigarette was then put out as suit was dusted off, then shoes shined. Steps were made to the house, and gentle motion to knock was made.
(GODDAMMIT! I forgot to read. Ahem. I will join the Family Tree game now. Disregard this post for now)

"By the way, the phantom is me it seems... not the pendant's powers. Does anyone remember that I lighted fire sometime ago in the other tunnel so that we could see in the dark?" Ryu the Kid spoke to eliminate the confusion that arises.

"Besides, I don't think Yuki's related to me as we're definitely from different clans.... different origins. And... the cold..... I can't stand the cold~" Ryu continues talking as the face began to turn pale faster than anyone else's... if it's not because of the sapphire pendant, Ryu might have been dead by now.

The pendant suddenly shines and surrounds Ryu the Kid with a glow of blue light, sheltering the cold from weakening Ryu even further.

"Now I remember... though nothing much is coming back to me as at this moment, I figured that this pendant must be the only personal belonging that keeps me alive up to this point..... no one else from my family survived the.... auggghh!" Ryu's head almost felt like bursting for recalling the past.

((Okay... actually I'm busy, so this time I better get back to my work. See you again on Sunday this week. I hope I can make it though!))

((@DokenMan: Right now everyone's in the Tunnel Under The Couch, so if you jump in right now you might get confused. Unless you want to be some thing that we see in the tunnel, you wouldn't see anybody if you came into the house [except maybe Violet, but I think she's taking a break from this RP considering she didn't want to come into the tunnel with us]. You might want to read a few pages back before posting.))

“Oh, Ryu, I’m sorry,” Yuki said considerately, in regard to his complaints about the cold. “I have a natural resistance to the cold, and I must have lowered the temperature more than I had realized.” She got up and brushed the sparkling snow off of her. “Well, this was a nice break. But we’d better get going. My little snow trick probably had no effect on the next room.”

((@Ryu: I have no idea what to write about Evan’s emerald…other than it maybe helps us out later? IDK… I’m trying to speed up the RP for now, but I also don’t want to end it too soon or this adventure might seem short…))

Yuki stretched a little bit, then led her companions down a shorter tunnel which led into a smaller, warmer room. At the end of the small room was a wrought iron door.

As Yuki approached the door she noticed that there were strange markings on it. “I think something’s written on the door in a different language,” she concluded, after studying it for a moment.

Just after she said this, a ghostly but almost childish giggle echoed throughout the room. The mine shaft began to shake.

“W-what’s happening?!”

Before Atlus went out to the light at the end of the tunnel, He heard a little child giggling, the cave-ish mine began to shake. "Ahhh!" Atlus tripped and noticed that the rocky ceiling was coming down. Atlus quickly got up, got Justice and ran as fast as he could. Atlus ran yelling when the ceiling broke apart into rocks. He rolled and out of the tunnel just in time. "Brrr-r-r-rrrr, whhh-y i-is it so-so-s-so co-l-l-ld?" Atlus shivered. He looked and saw that he was in a snowy field. (99 words)

((Well, basically, the whole family lives in one huge house. The plot for now is, I found a tunnel under a couch, and some of us are exploring it. I guess you could work off of that if you want to join right now, but I'm planning on ending this story arc soon anyway, so you could also wait if you want. It's just going slower than expected because most of us aren't posting as actively as I'd like, but it should be finished soon.))

The cave crumbling down around them, Ryan spun around to find his son Atlus standing there with a dog in his hands.

"Atlus, thank god!" Ryan said with relief as he rushed over to his son and grabbed him by the arm. "Come on! The place is caving in, and we need to get outta' here before we're trapped! Wait, where's Todog!?"

In a moment of desperation, Yuki pulled out her ruby necklace and thrust her hands out to the sides of her, freezing the walls, ceiling and falling parts of the cavern in place. A few airborne pieces kept falling, but otherwise, they were safe.

Yuki ran her finger along one of the ice walls she had just created. “Well, that was a bit frightening,” she said, seemingly in a different place. That reminds me so much of that one mine…with Roger and Ryuuji…

Yuki shook her head violently, shaking off the memory of two of her friends that she had left behind in moving to the city. “So, do we try to open the door, or do you guys want to go back?”

Then, the ground started to shake, Justice barked at a strange rock near the snowy mountain cliff, Justice bit Ryan's pants and was trying to lead him to the rock.

"OW!" Ryan sceamed. He knocked the dog off him and replied to Yuki, "It's up to you. I'm with you either way, but I also have to look after my kids. I'm sure Todog will be alright on his own for a while, but I'm worried about Atlus."

Ryan turned his attention to the dog and the rock it was barking nonstop at. He took a few steps toward the rock and stopped. He could hear a buzzing sound coming from the rock's general direction. "Any idea what this is, Yuki?" he asked her, pointing to the rock.

“Well, to answer Atlus’ question, even though he probably can’t hear the answer, what I did was, I froze the cavern in place to stop the tremor. Sorry I made the warm room into another icebox. Again.”

Set, who'd been lying against a wall in the cavern, catching some sleep, scowled. His hands was, quite literally, frozen. In the wall. He frowned. "Hm... minor burns or stuck in the wall?" he mused aloud. He decided for the burns. He used his free hands to make sure his veins were free, or he'd burn them instead. Once he was satisfied, he pumped oxygen to his hand. Then, a small fireball appeared in the hand. He made the fuel the only thing he had to hand - his skin. It quickly thawed, and he scowled at his hand. "Heel." he said. Nothing happened. "For fuck's sake... heal." The technology he'd implented in his hands got to work, slightly speeding up the healing process, but removing the ash and recoloured his hand.

He walked down the tunnel, checking to see what had caused the ice. He had a good idea of who it was... But why the hell was she HERE?

"I guess since you've been so kind as to share your secret with me," Ryan said to Yuki, "that it's only fair that I tell you my own secret. You see, I-"

There was a loud popping noise behind them. Startled, Ryan quickly turned around to see what the noise came from. "Is someone there? Todog, is that you??"

((Seems like everyone has superpowers of some sort, so I'll join the bandwagon. It was fun playing the "Kyon" part, but it's too hard to be normal in the family! :hobohodo:

"Caramell.... dansen..." Todog murmured randomly as he began to try and activate his blowtorch in an attempt to melt the enchanted ice and get out of the freezing space he was trapped in. " work, dammit... There!" Todog said at first exasperatedly and then triumphantly as the blowtorch finally began to breathe fire. "Now..." Todog began as he put on the welder's mask and put the blue flame up to the crystalline ice.

Justice looking up at Atlus, currently being carried by his father. Justice whining every second Atlus was unconcious. Atlus wakes up an hour later, "Ugh...Ngh, Oww." Atlus woke up hurting for some reason. Justice was now barking at Atlus saying "Hold it!"

(Flashback to 1 hour ago, for the sake of not getting confuzed.)
"Todog!" Ryan exclaimed, noticing his son trying to melt the ice wall that separated the two of them. Getting worried and impatient, he drops Atlus and rushes at the ice wall, ramming right into it. The wall broke with ease, since Todog had been melting it from the opposite side with his blowtorch.

"Todog, I'm glad to see you're okay!" Ryan said as he picked himself off the ground. He returned to the point where Yuki was still standing. "I guess now's not the best time to tell you my secret. I promise to tell you as soon as we get out of this mess." Recalling Yuki's question from several minutes ago, he replies, "I don't think we should continue exploring, though; the cave seems way too unstable. We can come back another time when we're better equipped."

He didn't show it, but Ryan was deep in thought, trying to sort out what he had learned several minutes prior and what it meant for him and his future.

The giggle from before sounded again. The ground began to shake a little, but it was still partially frozen and didn’t get any more dangerous than that. At the end of the minecart track, a wall moved, closing off that exit of the cave.

((Sorry for controlling everybody in the next part))

The group went to see where the sound had come from, and saw that the wall had closed off the exit.

“Well, I guess there’s no turning back now,” Yuki sighed. “We’ll have to go through that door whether we want to or not.” The group returned to the room with the door.

Ryan sighed. He longed to be back at the mansion, sitting on the couch watching TV with the heater cranked up. "Guess there's no other way," he said aloud to himself.

Ryan put those thoughts aside and focused on the task at hand. "Todog, can you look after Atlus while we explore whatever's on the other side of that door?" he asked his son. Ryan walked over to the gigantic wrought iron door. He grabbed the handle and tugged as hard as he could, but the door wouldn't budge.

Yuki examined the strange markings on the door. “There’s probably a spell or something required to get in,” she surmised. Holding her hands about 6 inches from the door, she said…

“Open Sesame.”

Nothing happened. Yuki shrugged. “Eh, it was worth a shot. Let’s give this a more serious try…hmm…”

“Jai guru deva om…”

OW had been following the group, staying mostly unseen. He saw Yuki say something, and the seal undid itself. "Hehe... Beatles, sweet..." he muttered, grinning. He did come out then. "Shalt we go through?" he asked a (probably surprised) group.

“Hey, the Beatles must have known what they were doing,” Yuki said, dumbstruck at the fact that an “Across the Universe” lyric had opened the door.

“How did you get here?” Yuki asked, surprised at OW’s sudden appearance. The childish giggle sounded again. Yuki shivered. “N-never mind. Let’s just go through the door…”

The group went through the door. As soon as they had entered the new room, the door slammed shut. “COME ON! Not again!” Yuki sighed.

The childish, ghostly giggle came again, louder now. The room grew very cold.

In the far back corner of the room, a small, ghostly little figure sat giggling…

The little girl giggled again. The room was windswept as a gush of air came whooshing through. After a moment, the wind stopped, and the child sat still.

Yuki approached the ghostly child. In a blur of white, the child flew to the other side of the room. Yuki tried approaching her again, only to experience the same result. The little girl giggled.

“My name is Abigail,” she said in the same childish, yet ghostly tone of her laugh.
