Phoenix thought on this a moment. He knew what she wanted his answer to be, but his instincts told him this would be a lie. Should he lie to her? If only to make her feel better?

"I want them to be, but-" He said softly. "It'll be soon, I know." He smiled brightly and held her tight. "In fact, we could get started now if you want!" He said with as much happiness as he could muster. Luckily this was quite a lot since he really believed what he was saying. "Lets enjoy every moment we have together. I mean, the future has to come, but at least we can be smiling when it gets here!"

Iris had to admit, Phoenix's unbeatable optimism, even in the face of disaster, was terribly contagious. It was one of the many things about him that made her fall so in love with him, after all. "...you're right." She lifted her head, brushed her scarlet bangs from her eyes, and beamed at him adoringly. "You're so right... I think I'll be alright, if...if you're with me..." she added shyly before lowering her eyes again. "...thank you for always being so honest with me."

"I could never lie to you, Do...Iris." He caught himself in old habits already. Which was amusing since until a few minutes ago he wasn't even aware he had any. "Even if it was going to protect you." He sighed. "Besides, everyone else is going to be telling us it's all okay. Wouldn't want you getting sick of it and not believing it anymore." He chuckled lightly. "We should go eat." Phoenix wasn't hungry, but he knew Iris probably was.

"Y-yes..." It was probably a good thing Phoenix suggested dinner; even though she hadn't eaten since early that morning, Iris didn't really notice her hunger until then and may have starved staying at his side. "I'm sure the others are waiting for us, too..." She bit her lip in a momentary internal conflict before she gave in just a bit to desire and delivered a quick kiss to her Feenie, then rose to her feet and dusted some nothing from her kimono.

Phoenix walked into the dining hall with a big smile and his arm draped across Iris' shoulders. She was quite a bit shorter than him, so it was pretty easy to do this comfortably.
"AH! Mr. Lucky!" Bikini clapped.
"Actually, it's Phoenix Wright." He corrected her and led Iris to a seat before taking one of his own.
"Oh good! It sounds like you got that little problem fixed then! I can already tell. You've got more light in your eyes. That knock to the head must have blown them out, but my dear Iris has lit the fires of your heart again!" She practically beamed.
"Eheh, yeah." Phoenix coughed and looked away.
"Well I'm happy that she chose you." Bikini gave her approval. "Poor Iris needs a little more luck in her life."

"S-sister, please..." Iris knew something was on fire, but she had something else in mind: namely, her face. She tried to focus on her meal, but she was having trouble with that when she felt everyone else's focus on her. One thing she'd never gotten used to in her time at college was the way she seemed to be in the spotlight so often without ever doing anything special at all. After living practically alone for most of her life, being the center of attention always made her terribly uncomfortable, and this time was no exception.

While Gregor had gone into the Temple, Doug hung back and walked around the temple grounds for a bit. The atmosphere was cold, but he found it refreshing and he needed time to think. The whole thing made sense now. Dahlia had a twin who lived here, and the twin was the one who fell in love with Phoenix. Still, none of the revelations helped him; he knew for certain that the Dahlia he had been dating was the real one. The real one also happened to be the one who tried to kill everyone... he had the feeling in the pit of his stomach that he wasn't ever going to find anyone outside his model cars...

Then suddenly he smelt something.... FOOD! He briskly walked back to the temple, even breaking into a run as he got closer to it. He then quickly opened the door and peeked his head around the dining room door.
"Um, I'm an aquaintence of Greg and these guys... is there any food left?" he said hopefully

"AH! MORE FRIENDS!" Bikini jumped to her feet and pulled him in. "Of course!" She hobbled off to fix him a nice big bowl. When she returned with it she set him up a place at the table. "Why I think this is the most people I've had at the table since...well since I got the table! Hohoho!" She laughed.

This must have been his search party. It was rather large, and Phoenix didn't even recognize a few people there.
"The soup is good." He told Bikini even though he hadn't touched any of his. She practically beamed.
"It's the love!" She told him. "Then again, if I'd have let you and Iris make it it would have been super spicy!" She laughed again. Phoenix put on a rather embarrassed smile. The woman certainly was forward with her thoughts.

Iris choked on the spoonful of soup she was eating during Bikin's "super spicy" comment and spent the next quarter of a minute or so coughing it out of her windpipe. Once she'd finished with that enjoyable bit of business, she sank further into her seat. Her eyes darted around desperately for something she could use to change the subject and ironically fell on Phoenix's undisturbed bowl. "You're not feeling well?" she asked in a concerned tone.

"Ah, what?" She jerked him from his thought process, which had been pretty similar to hers in trying to find something else to talk about. "Oh, I ate already. No more than five minutes ago, actually." He told her with a smile. "I don't know why she made me a bowl."
"Because a man needs to eat hearty!" Bikini declared.
"And women too, apparently..." Phoenix muttered under his breath.
"What was that?!" Bikini looked at him crossly with one eye squinted.
"Nothing!" Phoenix jumped. Had he said that aloud?

"That's a wonderful idea!" Bikini clapped. Her eyes were practically sparkling. "And we can let Mr. Lucky pick his room here as well!"
"MY room?" Phoenix squeaked a little. Was she really suggesting what he thought she was?
"If you're going to be living here then I won't have you staying in the room with Iris!" Bikini huffed with her hands sternly on her hips. "I don't mind expressions of love! But people need to sleep around here!"
"W-what?!" Phoenix wasn't sure which part of that statement he should be more offended about. "Wait, who said I was going to live here?"
"You mean you don't want to be with Iris?" Bikini looked ready to cry.
"Of course I do, but-" Phoenix sputtered.
"You're going to just abandon her here in the cold!" Bikini accused. "Why, Mr. Lucky! I had no idea you were that sort of man!"
"Hey now! Wait a minute!" Phoenix wished he had a more abrupt word to yell in these situations. "I'm not abandoning anybody!"
"I have just the perfect room for you!" Bikini jumped out of her chair and scampered off. That's right. You heard me. Scampered.

Gregor tried to hail Chris over the din of the assembly, but after several failures, he decided the effort was futile and probably pointless besides. Chris must know Phoenix is here. All I'd have to offer is an explanation of the delay and if he wants to know about that, he'll ask. Having resigned himself to simply eating, he was halfway through his soup when a loud clap startled him so that his right arm jerked with such force that he almost threw his spoon across the room like a shuriken. "That's a wonderful idea!" What's a wonderful idea? "And we can let Mr. Lucky pick his room here as well!" Pick his room? What? ...Oh. Sleeping arrangements. ...Sleeping arrangements!? What time is it? He looked down at his watch. Well, I'll be spammed. I guess there's nothing to do but wait and see where they put me...if they even notice me. I suppose in the event that I'm left to my own devices, I could always sleep in the minivan...

"...She means well..." Iris offered Phoenix with a weak smile after finishing the remainder of her soup. She set her spoon in her bowl and got to her feet to make her quiet announcement, hands folded neatly in her front. "I'll be back to clear the dishes when everyone is done, but please don't feel the need to rush. And...um..." She paused to take in a deep breath and consider what she could possibly say, what she could do to express enough gratitude for everything these people she barely knew had done for her...and for him. Nothing appropriate came to mind.

"Thank you..."

She bowed slightly before hurrying off to help Bikini set up the extra beds.

"Iris..."

Iris opened her eyes and nearly collapsed in shock. For some reason, it was midday, and she was standing on Dusky Bridge. Why was she there? She didn't remember going back, and for that matter, the bridge shouldn't even be there.

"Iris."

There was that voice again. That familiar voice, a voice that was all both her own and very different, all at once. She looked down the bridge, and there, standing not more than twenty feet away, stood the owner. Her favorite pink, lacy ensemble was unmistakable.

"Y-you..." Iris stammered, her mind racing to keep up with these impossible sights. "But you're..."

"That's right, Iris." The young woman smiled sweetly and stepped forward. "I'm dead. But I shouldn't have to say that, should I? After all, you know that better than anyone seeing as it's your fault."

Iris reeled back as if she'd been stabbed in the chest. She steadied herself against the wire guards. "No...no, that's not true! I didn't-"

"I believed in you, Iris," the girl in pink mused, cutting Iris' explanation short. "You said you wanted to save me, didn't you? I trusted you..."

"But I did!" Iris cried in protest, tears filling her eyes. "I got the necklace for you!"

Iris' reflection nodded solemnly. "You did. And how did you get it? You told him about me. Creating a witness kind of defeats the purpose of getting that bottle back, doesn't it?"

"I..." Iris offered lamely. She bit her lip and dropped her eyes to the planks.

"You chose that man over me," the girl with the parasol said as she continued her approach, her voice slowly filling with venom. "You betrayed me, your sister, your own flesh and blood...for him."

Iris' head snapped back up. "N-no! I never..." she repeated desperately.

"Shut up!" the other woman snapped. "If you didn't choose him, why is he right behind you?" She thrust an accusing finger over Iris' shoulder.

Iris spun around. Sure enough, Phoenix stood a mere two paces away, wearing the same sweater she'd given him the previous day. His eyes suddenly widened in horror. "Dollie, watch out!" he yelled, pointing past Iris.

Iris turned back to her sister, who was now holding a lighter in one hand and a flaming rag in the other. "You chose poorly, little sister!" the woman screamed. Iris could swear she saw, just for a moment, tears in those hate-filled eyes. "I'll make you regret that decision!" With that, she threw the cloth to the bridge, which ignited instantly. Flames jumped around the three at an impossible rate. Iris ran to Phoenix instinctively, but the plank she stepped on snapped. As she plummetted from the bridge, leaving her boyfriend and sister to be consumed by the fire, she reached back for them futily, screaming their names...

Iris snapped up in her bed, drenched in a cold sweat. She immediately threw her covers aside, rushed out of her room and into the adjacent one...only to see Phoenix sleeping peacefully. She covered her mouth with her sleeve to silence her sobs and crept quietly to his side. She wanted to hold him, to be held by him, and reached for his arm to rouse him...

She stopped herself at the last moment. What was she doing? She ran to him, ready to wake him, over a bad dream? You're acting like a baby, Iris, she scolded herself. It was this kind of weakness that led to all the terrible things that had happened over the last couple days. She had to try to be stronger, to not just run whenever things got bad. She wanted to be there for him, too...

Iris leaned in to give Phoenix a single kiss on the cheek, then returned to her room before she could disturb him further and cried herself to sleep, knowing tomorrow would be a brighter day.

On that cold frigid night, there was only one other person who wasn't asleep. Doug was sitting on the veranda outside his room, so deep in thought he didn't even realise it was snowing. He could hear the crying in the room next door... how strange it was that one person could cause so much pain. And yet, somehow it brought everyone together too, and it looked like two people had found what they were looking for.

Doug sighed and looked out into the snow. It seemed to him that he was the only one who hadn't recieved anything back to replace the pain and hurt... He'd tried to avoid the truth for so long, but he couldn't lie to himself anymore. He did care for Dahlia. He shivered, and looked down at his clothes that were covered in fresh white snowflakes. 'Perhaps this day will be a new beginning for a new me too', he thought to himself as he walked back into the room, and shut the door tight. The moon was shining as bright as it could, as a new comet filled the sky and left it's trail in the night sky... Perhaps Dahlia would have been intrigued to know that they named it after her.

Stefan had never been good with directions. Despite the path, Stefan has strayed into another forest... and got lost, despite the small number of trees. Eventually, he stopped for a rest. Stupid ashtma.

He'd fallen asleep in the snow. During the night, he'd awoke, and eventually found the temple. After talking to Sister Bikini (sorry for godmod), he prepared a spare room himself, and was now meditating. The comet made him stare - it distracted him from the temple maiden's sobs.

Two weeks. Had it really been that long? Phoenix was having a hard time talking Sister Bikini into letting him go back to school. The woman had become a sort of mother to him in that short amount of time.
"Now remember! You protect yourself if you're going to commit acts of love!" She waved enthusiastically as he and Iris (I've just assumed she's coming too. This can easily be fixed if I'm wrong, so don't hesitate to point it out Fran.) walked to the snow mobile. ...A very strange mother...

Iris waved bashfully to her adoptive mother before turning forward and gleefully hooking her arm with Phoenix's. Although they'd both spent the last two weeks recuperating physically and emotionally, it felt more like a wonderful little private vacation to her. By now she'd dyed her hair back to its natural deep black hue and wore her temple robes, at least until she got off the chilly mountain and back to her room at Ivy University. She'd decided to sign up for classes and stay on campus after all.

She looked up to the face of the man she held dearly. He seemed to be fine, but she had to ask anyway. "Are you sure you're ready to go back, Nicky?"

Cat McGowan pushed the set of double doors in front of her open and stepped outside. It wasn't particularly cold to Cat, but the building she'd just left had been hot enough to boil a pot of macaroni and cheese-the new staple of Cat's diet.

Damn, did college suck.

She walked past groups of students whispering to each other, waving to random people she thought she knew. She was heading for "Cousin It"-ANTM reference, anyone?-the large oak tree in the middle of the campus. Sitting in the shade of its leafy branches, Cat pulled out a textbook-How to Ace Being a Political Science Major for Dummies-turned to the latest dog-eared page, and began reading.

"Well, I'm not really looking forward to making up all that missed work, but it's something I gotta do if I want my degree, right?" He laughed. "Um, actually, I've been thinking." He might as well bring it up now. "I want to change majors. I like art, but I just don't feel like it's my calling, you know?" Then again, standing in the snow probably wasn't the best venue for this conversation. "I'd probably have to start from the beginning again though. I mean, not entirely, but..." He took in a breath and let it out. "Maybe I should just stay where I am..."

"It might be tough catching up at this point, but if you're sure it's what you want, I think you should do what your heart tells you." She smiled warmly at Phoenix and patted the seat behind her. "What did you want to switch to?"

Chris quickly rushed out of his room. "I'm late, I'm late, oh god I'm late!" He had just finished getting dressed, and ran towards the lunchroom. "I promised Meghan I'd be there at 12, and it's 12:10 already!" He rushed through the hallway, not caring that everyone was staring after him as if he were mad. Iris fought the urge to melt in her Nicky's arms. "Yes...yes, I know just what you mean..." she sighed dreamily. She stopped herself and shook the marshmellows out of her head; they were going to be late if she just sat there in a daze. "You'll have to tell me what attracted you to law at lunch today when we have a little more time..." With that, she gave the snowmobile some gas and accelerated down the mountain to the train station.

Chris quickly took a seat beside her, putting his lunch down on the table. "Well, nothing much else has happened, to tell you the truth. I mean, after that incident, I think things have been going pretty well. Iris and Phoenix should be here today, I heard that they finally fully recuperated and Iris even decided to stay here and take classes. It's wonderful, isn't it?"

Phoenix kept his cheek pressed against Iris' back and held his eyes shut as the snowmobile rushed down the mountain. He was such a wimp with these sorts of things. It was silly, really, but then everyone has their irrational little fears. It had taken him years to be able to even sit in a car, and even then he still got a little sick.
The mobile stopped before he realized it so he and Iris sat there a moment with him clutching her waist.
"Oh, at the bottom already?" He laughed and let go. The taxi was waiting for them so he hopped onto shaky legs and walked to it. After opening the door for Iris and getting in on the other side he focused his attention out of the window. Why was he getting this foreboding feeling in the pit of his stomach? Was something bad going to happen? He'd had a rough few weeks, and going back to that school was probably just making him paranoid. He forced on a smile and fought the urge to grab Iris' hand. She'd know something was wrong if he did that. For his delicate flower to bloom again he'd have to be the strong earth for her roots...wow...he should have majored in cheese. He was a lot better at it than art.
