SAILOR V ANYONE? *gets kicked in the crotch*
And with that marks a new era for the SMako project. Indeed, a reinvention. It's about time we picked up the pace again on this thing, and with a new name and fresh perspectives on all the GS4 characters we can really get cracking! Everyone pick up your DSes and get playing! I want ideas! I want information! I want characterization! I want story arcs, long and short and everything in between!
In other news, my good pal Ethed has offered some webspace for a REAL website to be put up. Lord knows I have some free time for web-dev.
And now some serious points to consider, also me just making bad decisions late at night.
- Shannon on the chopping block: After repeated attempts to insert her into the story as a dichotomous foil for Kristoph/Sadistress, she continues to be a very prominent satellite character. Indeed, Sadistress seems to stand on her own well enough without her. What say you?
- Venom-charged Villains: The rogue's gallery gets upgraded by the same Venom that poisons Makoto/Vera for a while - but are actually under the control of the protagonist-turned-main villain for this arc! It is after each one is defeated in turn that our heroine is faced down herself by her former comrades, and is returned to normal by her Badass Normal boyfriend(?) Wocky.
- Wocky Kitaki: Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! XD

- Firstly, after reading through this thread, I'm inclined to agree with your proposal the whole Shannon situation. The whole thing between her and Kiri seems sort of.....forced... And I do think that Sadi is interesting eno- BOOBS. >_>;

I'm honestly not surprised about this. If a character went under as many revisions as she did and sure she even went under a few that I missed, I think it would be time to cut the character. While it's a shame to lost a character, it would be better for the story consider it's been to squeeze her in. Plus, you already have a large cast of characters, missing one minor character isn't too big of a loss.

Question: Is the Vemon-charged Verisons going to the same as the original verison of the villian (viva Mind-Control-ish power) or even-more powerful? I'm asking because it's would be a little awkard to power-up the villian team for a short time and then weaken them again where as the Heros get stronger and remain at that strength. Also, the Idea for Vemon Power Sadistress both scares and mental scars me.

Remember that the current version of "Venom" is that it's a manifestation of Manfred von Karma's Power Perfect, which allows him to influence and to an extent reshape everything around him. The Black Polish that Makoto uses is derived from this, so yes, I was planning on the Venomized Villains to be "mind controlled" to an extent, perhaps trading in some part of themselves to Makoto in exchange for a portion of her power - but she ends up just taking them over. Maybe she actually hops from villain to villain, kind of like a parasite, just for kicks. Kind of like how Dark Samus corrupts her targets.
Crap, this looks more and more like Metroid Prime's Phazon the further I develop it. XD HEEAALLP?
Here, have some Redd. (Unlike other Venom-powered villains, Redd is actually directly under Manfred's influence, and resides in the outer dimension that is Manfred's dark empire - where everything is touched by Venom!)

Being the magical girl tard that I am, and forgive me if this idea has been thought up before for SMako (I haven't read through the whole topic), I was thinking that she could use different colors of nail polish to transform into to different forms depending on the situations? Kind of like Shadow Lady meets Corrector Yui.
Maybe not the most original idea, but I wanted an excuse to say that I'm all for doing costume designs. :D

Okay, I'm getting kinda sick of this Makoto/Vera business. Does anyone have any suggestions what we do about her name? I think we'll be keeping Masaka Sakai's Japanese name - Olga Orly doesn't have the same charm (at least, the Orly part doesn't).
And what about Housuke Odoroki/Apollo Justice? Apollo Justice is currently his superhero name, and what of his normal day-to-day self? Unofficially we used his Japanese name for his civilian identity, but something's not quite right...

I think Vera is a nice, civilian name, but really it's been too long with "Super Makoto" and too much almost-SailorMoon to make her "Super Vera". Sounds like Aloe Vera or some sort of...lubricant...
Trumpcard Trucy is better than Magical Minuki in my opinion. I mean, it's a given that she's magic. Trumpcard Trucy means SHE WILL TRUMP YOU and also gives a hint about her power. 'Cause that's what superhero names tend to do.
I believe our current version of MinAlita has her be a "pregame" entity, when Wockita and Verakoto (looks like VenoMako?) are getting aquainted? Granted, that's not following game canon, but we were having a bit of trouble fitting her in.
I'm actually not very versed in 4-2 to add much about the villans of the case. The idea of a nurse with a gigantic needle is neat, though. Eventually everything needs a sexy nurse with painful procedures.
I will have to remake The Chief Plushie. Hm hm

I've discussed the issue with a number of folks and it looks like Shannon's officially been cut. Next on the chopping block: Chief and Silver plushies. They don't have much development behind them anyways, though Chief could probably just use a major redesign and overhaul. Silver is the real extraneous one.
Next issue: Venomized Heroes? In addition to each villain getting a turn at the Venom stint, it's possible even the superheroes get added to the Monster Of The Week lineup. Is this cool? Y/N

Hmm, pick and choose, pick and choose. The thing is, she's the one initiating these transformations, so they wouldn't exactly hurt her, per se, until she gets back to normal. And who would her close friends be, aside from Takita/Wocky?

Well, I can't really help you on the whole 'pick and choose' thang, I'm still fuzzy about most of the SMako universe and such. But the whole 'GNRAR IMMA VENOMIZE THE PEOPLE THAT WERE CLOSEST TO ME' is a total must. The bad guys ALWAYS go for the people that were important to their other half/past life/you know what I mean.

Honestly, I have grown to know her as Makoto which really leads me into saying to keep the name same. Also, Super Makoto is just more fitting then Super/Sailor Vera. Vera really doesn’t seem to fit her after all of the work we put on her character.

I hope you, if you guys changed the name to Olga Orly, I would never take her serious ever again. So, if we want to keep here as they character that has been worked out so far, stick to the Japanese name. Also, I have a hard time picturing Sakai, the Dread Pirate going “O rly?” unless she somehow gets an Owl for a pirate’s parrot.

I would say to use Magical Minuki for her superhero name, so that unlike Apollo, we can still called her by her real name for her everyday self. However, a lot of she weapons/tricks I remember involve using cards which does make it a tough choice. But, I still stick by Magicial Minuki.

Perhaps I’m overstepping the line here but didn’t the idea of transforming heros already get shot down for Makoto (with the exception of the very awesome Vemon Makoto.) I believe that readers already have enough to track around with the Vemon Villians and Vemon Makoto herself. If you do Vemon Heros, people are likely to start getting annoyed and possibly confused which I’m sure is likely to backfire on you somehow. So, I don’t think that would be too good of an idea.
Unless, you want to start going using the parallel universe/alternate universe trope card…

It will make the whole idea seem like a cheap cop-out for lack of concrete plot in regards to Power Perfect and why the venom would target anybody in the first place.

El Mariachi Machi - MoronSonOfBoron - A new character concept. Who would have thought Machi could dual-wield giant long-barreled semiautomatic handguns? And BLIND?
Mas Machi - MoronSonOfBoron - More of Machi, this time using one of his conceptual outfits from the art books. For a little teenage boy, he sure means business. (lol gangsta style) And yes, I know "mariachi" wouldn't actually wear this outfit, or play the piano. It's a reference to the Robert Rodriguez movies... though to be honest, do we have too many gunslinger heroes?
And that's just a small bundle of sketches.
Thoughts for the day:
- Takita or Wocky? Since we're holding on to Makoto...
- Makoto is still herself when she goes Venom, it's not like she's being mind-controlled or split-personalitied. But I would like to call her Vera, just for the V alliteration. |>
- Whatever happened to the Arumajiki/Gramarye? They were so involved with Makoto in-game, what do we do with them now?

Takita just seems to fit better since we are keeping Makoto's Japanese name, so it we keep his name the same too if they're going to end up together. Plus, it just sounds better in my opinion.

I would say that with all of the Heros we have now, we really don't need too many more heros. Is it possible to make them Neutrals or even possibly turn one of them into a Villian? I haven't completed 4-4 just yet so I really can't say much yet.

The part about VenoMakoto being conscious of what she is doing when she turns people always boggled me a bit. Mostly because I forgot about the other heroes and would be like "So who saves them/the day?
" but I'm still iffy on this issue - even if Takita (I prefer to call him this over "Wocky" unless it's a nickname given to him) dismisses it, wouldn't someone notice? "Hey man, how come Makoto ain't beating this suspiciously dark and scary version of [defeated villain here]? With her color powers it would be a snap...oh dang we have to do it ourselves bah"But I'm not entirely sure if the whole turning heroes thing will fly well. It'll be like a horror movie. ONE BY ONE THE SURVIVORS VANISH AND THEN THE ONE FINAL BADASS NORMAL COMES AND SAVES THE DAY nookie optional
I'm for the Toothbrushman and Lotta as the (obviously incompetant) reporters. THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE WAS DESTROYED TODAY BY A RAMPAGING BIG-BOSOMED WOMAN FIGHTING A TEAM OF OUR FAVORITE SUPERHEROES. IN OTHER NEWS, LOOK AT THESE CUTE KITTENS!
I'd like the Arumajiki/Gramarye/Batshit Magician Troupe to be neutrals at best (leaning for the most part toward the side of good). Perhaps they feel an obligation to help their pupil/daughter/relation/whatever Minuki/Trucy, but they are sometimes offered better opportunities by the "bad guys"?
I'm pretty sure that Drew/Doburoku dies...somewhere along the line. But he's critical for littleMakoto to grow up. I don't think it's mentioned but I'm not sure what he can offer as a character.

The idea behind her being fully conscious and independent in her actions is to highlight the "moral" of the whole thing. If she wasn't aware of what she was doing and wasn't behind them more-or-less completely, at the end of the Venom arc we would just have a Broken Aesop. This isn't just a gimmicky Monster of the Week (like the extended Venomized characters were), this is actually character development for Makoto herself, because she has to come to grips with the fact that her imagination has a much larger span than simply puppies, sunshine, and rainbows. At first she gives into this dark side thoughtlessly, accepting it as a part of her creative spirit, and eventually realizes the error of her ways.

Now I'm no Bee, and I don't have much to contribute (yeah, not even anything to say about the venom, hum hum) but I am an artist of mediocre caliber, so I promised to draw one picture every day he was gone! He'll be back on the 23rd if I'm not mistaken, and when that day comes around we'll be able to work and stuff and new thread and site and it'll be a fresh start!
My first picture is, obviously, is Super Makoto, in Yuu's "Bunny Ears" supersuit.
Done in openCanvas, to get used to the interface/digital art and also as an experiment in no-lines/white lines drawing...no facial expressions either blah blah so it's very experimental
I'm going to try and draw all the characters in this fashion. Woot yay
Don't know who I'll do tomorrow, maybe I'll just pick some random guy and bang

MA will be going under a slight revamp as you can see; She will now sport winglets in her hair [Damn you RO] and her outfit will undergo some slight changes. Color sceme will remain the same but I want her to look -slightly- different than Trucy. XD;
