After several minutes of watching the scenery outside the cab window flash by, Iris turned her attention back to Phoenix. He'd been unusually quiet ever since getting in the car, and he had a bit of a strange smile on his face. She was starting to wonder if something was wro- oh, that's right. He had a tendency to get motion sickness, didn't he? She squeezed his shoulder closest to her gently. "Try focusing on something in the car," she suggested.

Phoenix jumped slightly when she touched him. He hadn't been expecting any contact. But he relaxed when he looked over at her.
"I think maybe I'll just try and sleep the rest of the way." He told her, settled down in his seat, and closed his eyes.

Emi was perched on the statue's shoulder as her hand moved the pencil along the paper. Two weeks had passed since she was taken back to the college, yet she wouldn't have noticed had it not been for that morning. Since her return something had felt odd. Out of place. She'd been going about her life exactly as she had before, only now it didn't feel familiar to her. That morning she'd done something she'd never done before. She'd passed a discarded sketch pad of hers and picked it up. It was the one from the day she'd met that man and his band. It occurred to her that in the past two weeks she hadn't drawn anything really alive. So there she sat, keeping up with the bustling students who didn't notice the small brown girl inches away from them above their heads.
She finished with this book. With a flick of her wrist it spiraled to the ground and she fetched another.

"Mm..." Maybe he didn't just feel ill after all... Well, in any case, he didn't seem to want to talk about it now. Iris made a mental note to ask later and followed his lead for the rest of the ride.

About twenty minutes passed before the taxi reached its destination; not that either of its passengers were conscious enough to keep track of the time, but Iris at least knew how long it took to get from Hazakura to Ivy U. She awoke from her light nap at the sound of the cabbie's request for payment, gave him what he wanted, and looked over at the man sleeping next to her. She almost shook him, but remembering his previous reaction, she opted to just try whispering to him first. "Nicky, we're here..."

"What an evil evil man you are." Laughed a voice in the black. Suddenly the darkness around Phoenix erupted in flames. The fire stretched out in every endless direction and from the fire stepped the twisted face of Dahlia Hawthorne. "Are you satisfied now?" She asked as she stood in front of him. Phoenix couldn't tear his eyes away from hers.
"What are you talking about?" He hadn't meant there to be such a feral growl to his tone.
"You're the one that demanded I die." She told him simply.
"You started this fire!" Phoenix barked. "You're trying to burn me alive!"
"There's no room for revenge in death, Feenie." Dahlia hissed. "These flames are yours. Your endless wrath engulfing me again and again in the pits of hell." The fire curled around her body. "And all because I only did as you commanded. What a spiteful master you are."
"YOU DID THIS TO YOURSELF!"
"It's because of your words that I died. You demanded it of me. You manipulated me. All for a girl you barely even loved. What a pitiful excuse." Dahlia let loose a spiteful laugh. "What would my sister think if she knew that the man who seduced her was really a devil?"
"Nicky, we're here..." The sweet voice filtered through the flames.

"Ngh." Phoenix curled the side of his mouth up when he grunted. His eyes peeled open and stared blankly at Iris as his mind processed what he was seeing. "There already?" He asked with a strained smile. It became more genuine as the memory of his dream faded into reality. "Did we pay the cabbie?" He asked once he got out.

"Y-yes, I took care of it..." Iris told herself to smile; she only hoped her face felt like being more obedient than she imagined. She bit her lip for a moment, wondering if she should say something. It was probably nothing, but she couldn't get that pained look he had out of her mind... "Is something wrong? You've been a little...different..." Not exactly the way she wanted to phrase it, but she couldn't think of a better way to finish that thought.

"Huh?" Phoenix hadn't thought he was being that obvious. Then again, maybe Iris was just more observant than he gave her credit for. "I'm just stressed out. Classes are going to be really tough." He didn't lie exactly. He wasn't looking forward to having to make up two weeks worth of work, and how exactly was he supposed to explain that he was getting all upset over a dream he didn't even remember. "Sorry if I was making you worry. I just didn't think you wanted to hear me complain." He gave her an apologetic smile. "Come on, if we're late for lunch Chris and Megan might think we fell off a cliff on the way over here."

Seated by a window, Gregor had more or less fallen back into his usual routine--solitude broken by the occasional shared laugh with Miles at the professors' expense. What a farce his role had been in that whole hostage situation. Had he contributed anything of real value to the effort? If so, what on Earth could it have been? Peace of mind for the rest of them? Discipline? He supposed that was possible, but it seemed that for the most part, everyone had quite forgotten about him. Not that this was anything new. He'd grown used to it by now. It seemed to be his destiny to move among "friends" as a leaf moves among the winds--to be picked up, blown around, and discarded. Sometimes he wondered if he was living life or merely watching it, not unlike the mute artist he'd seen perched on the statue's shoulder. Our lots are similar, yours and mine. Heh...this may be a crazy notion, but who knows? Could it be that we are destined to each be the center of the other's universe, so that neither of us has to ever be so utterly alone anymore? Looking up from his book, he peered out the window to see a cab come to a stop and deposit a familiar young man and woman at the curb. Ha! Speak of the Devil...Phoenix and--what was her name? Iris! That's right! They seem to have much the same bond. An amused grin played across his face. Could this be a sign?

Iris blanched momentarily at the phrase "fell off a cliff." She shook her head after recovering and shoved Phoenix playfully. "Hey, don't joke about that!" she laughed. She hooked her arm in his and leaned against him as the couple made their way to the cafeteria. "I want to be there for you, Nicky. You can talk to me if something's bothering you..." At the same time, her own unpleasant memories had begun to resurface. He didn't mean it, of course, but that last comment sent Iris' mind on a trip back to that day...

It was lunch time, but Doug was too busy with his model car to notice that his stomach was growling and rumbling in protest. Somehow that incident at Dusky Bridge had made him re-think his chemistry career path; not that he was ever going to give up his beloved science of course, but he needed an idea on what job he was aiming for. The radio was on, and the announcing man had finished his inane but funny talk and got on with playing the music. It was an old song, but Doug couldn't stop humming along.

The toe bone's connected to the foot bone. The foot bone's connected to the leg bone... He suddenly sat up, with a gleam in his eye. He turned off the radio before picking up his phone and calling the front office.
"Excuse me Miss, but My names Doug Swallow and I'm taking the Chemistry and Biology course." He waited for a second for the lady to finish asking him what he needed. "Well, you see. I have to pick a subject to focus my studies towards, and I want to learn to be a pathologist." The lady acknowleged his request and informed him that that would mean he needed to spend another 3 years or so in college, but Doug affirmed that he'd be willing to do that, and she guided him through the process. After a few minutes, the call was finished and he was making his way towards the canteen; hoping that there'd actually be any food left.
(OOC: So yes, Doug's gonna be a pathologist! With Nick going in for the Lawyer Business, it makes sense XD)

Phoenix laughed.
"Sorry." He ruffled her hair with his free hand/ He's have kissed her right then, but they were in a public place and that always seemed to embarrass her.

Emi's hand noticed the eyes that had slipped onto her before she did. When she saw the man in her picture looking up at her she looked over at him as well, but by then his attention had already switched to something else. Phoenix and Iris. The situation had been explained to her for more the explainer's sake than hers. As if they had to recount the incident aloud before they could really understand it themselves. It was a clean and simple solution to their problems that the woman was dead, and yet it had left the two most importantly involved broken. Emi was familiar with artificial emotion, and she could see it in both of them. She understood the need for deception in times that were hard...no...not understood. She had the knowledge presented to her when she'd asked why people lie for the sake of the other, but never actually understood the reason. The truth always came out in the end, why prolong the inevitable?
The two laughed and smiled as they made their way to Chris and Megan's table, but on paper both looked unsure and frightened.

Watching Phoenix and Iris enter the building, Gregor felt an ethereal tickling sensation at the back of his head. Is someone looking at me? Slowly turning away from the window, he looked straight ahead but saw nothing unusual. Then it occurred to him to turn his gaze upward. Sure enough, someone was still perched on the statue. What's more, she was facing him, pencil in hand. Smile! You're on Candid Camera! Feeling a little sheepish even though her gaze looked unfocused at the moment--perhaps she was philosophizing about something--he offered a weak smile, a slight bow of the head, and a hand raised in salute, returning her gaze with uplifted eyes.

Once again her hand noticed the attention before Emi did. She offered a wave back but there was no smile with it. As was usual with greetings there was a chance he might come and try to talk to her. It would likely not last long, most people gave up after only a minute or so of conversation.
Her hand was getting tired, she would have to stop drawing when the pain settled in. How bothersome.

With Iris on his arm he gave a rather overdone wave to Chris and Megan when he spotted them. He'd put on the pink sweater Iris had made for him that morning, plus he was wearing his red scarf, so he was probably easy to spot.

Iris could tell there were definately eyes on them. What she wasn't sure of was whether it was because of the way she clung to him or the unusual robes she wore (they certainly couldn't be staring at the sweater she'd worked so hard on, right?), but in the end, she couldn't be bothered to care. Even the terribly unsettling feelings from mere minutes ago had all but evaporated as she held him. Suddenly, his free arm rose and motioned towards one of the tables. She traced the path of Phoenix's hail to a familiar pair and mimicked his wave, smiling brightly.

"I wish." Phoenix pulled out a chair for Iris before flopping into one himself. "That woman had me working like a dog doing repairs and yard work. I slept really good at night when I wasn't-" He stopped himself. He was going to say having nightmares, but the embarrassed look he flashed to Iris might have suggested he were going to say something a bit more dirty. "So what did you guys do?" He asked hastily and tacked a nervous laugh on the end for good measure.

"Thanks!" Phoenix said with his usual over exuberance and took the box. Iris made the best food. He broke apart the chopsticks inside and rolled them in his palms to get off any splinters. Just as he placed some food into his mouth his eyes traveled upward between and behind their lunch mates. At first he was so stunned that his chopsticks slipped from his fingers and clacked onto the table. Then he almost choked on the food he only half swallowed. Red hair, pink lace dress, matching umbrella, for a moment he'd thought Dahlia had passed the table.
He coughed and regained his bearings quickly enough to whip his head towards the woman, but he'd been utterly mistaken. Her hair was brown, she wasn't wearing a dress at all, and the umbrella was yellow with daisy's printed on it. His eyes flicked slightly to the right to see Iris' look of confusion and concern. He wanted to force on a smile for her, but the whole situation had his heart nearly beating out of his chest and he was fairly certain he was going to pass out in his chair. Phoenix looked much like the ghost he thought he'd seen as he quickly got to his feet. His chair was knocked to the floor with how forcefully he'd stood. He managed to conjure up that smile before he spoke. "Um...s-sorry. I need to go to the bathroom." He whipped up the best excuse he could think of to leave. Without giving anyone much of a chance to reply he ran towards the building.

Chris blinked as he watched the scene between the two, which eventually resulted in Phoenix acting surprised at a passing person and then running out of the room. "... He looked like he just saw a ghost... are you sure he's all right?" Chris then asked Iris.

"I-I..." Iris stammered in a state of half-shock. Her eyes, which had previously been locked on Phoenix as he made his escape, now travelled to the vacant, upended chair next to her. "...I don't know..." she admitted sadly. She wasn't sure if she should follow him or not, she wasn't sure if she should tell anyone about these moments of distress she'd been noticing in him more and more frequently, even if they were friends...she just wasn't sure anymore. All she knew was something was terribly wrong.

Chris looked at Iris as she stared at where Phoenix originally sat. "Do you know what's wrong with him? I mean, maybe we can help if you do. But whether we can or not, we all need to check on him and see if he's alright." He could tell something was wrong, and he saw a hint that she might know what's going on. He didn't want to push the subject, however.

Phoenix splashed his face with the water that was rushing into the sink. A quivering hand turned the knob that halted the flow and he stood upright. The only thing he could see at the moment was his face. His index finger pulled down on one of the bags that had crept under his eyes. It had actually been Bikini's idea to blend them out with make-up, which she had a surprisingly large amount of. 'Even boys need to look their best for their sweethearts.' she'd said when she yanked him into the room by his scarf and pushed him into a seat. It didn't really occur to him until that moment that she might have noticed his recent sleepless nights and was actually trying to protect Iris from any guilt she might have felt if she'd learned of it. The trip over was the first time he'd slept in at least three days and when he saw that woman he suddenly remembered why. How he'd managed to push the nightmares from his head this long he wasn't sure, self preservation probably.
He probably shouldn't have washed his face. Iris was sure to notice these thick dark rings.

Iris lifted her head and shook it. "I'm...I'm not sure, but..." But something was very wrong, and what was she doing? Sitting there, moping, not doing anything helpful at all. She could just slap herself. Didn't she just say not more than half an hour ago that she wanted to be there for him? This wasn't 'being there.'

"E-excuse me," Iris spit out quickly, jumping to her feet. She ran for the door Phoenix had just used, and upon leaving the cafeteria, began asking passing students if they'd seen a tall, handsome man in a bright pink sweater.

If he was cautious he could probably slip out of the men's room, into the hallway, and make it to his dorm without any trouble. Then he could just pretend to be sick and lay in his bed with a blanket covering his face. If he locked the door Iris would eventually give up and-
"More deceptions, Feenie?" Rolled a much too familiar voice. In the mirror he could see the shadowed form of Dahlia, but when he turned around there was no one there. His heart started to pound again.
"Calm down, Phoenix." He grumbled at himself. He had to hold tightly onto the counter to keep his balance. "People see things when they haven't slept in a while. You're just overexerting yourself. You're not going crazy...then again...talking to yourself out loud probably isn't helping matters." He took a breath, steadied himself, then was about to enact his sneaking off plan when he was suddenly startled by Iris on the other side of the door. "AH!" He jumped.

"EEK!" Iris countered. She held her heart in an effort to calm it before speaking. "I, I'm sorry, I just...when you left, I...are you..." No, if she asked him that, he'd just say yes. She already knew he wasn't okay. Time to be strong. Deep breath. Good. "Tell me what's wrong...okay?"

Well this was a bit different. Iris was demanding to know what was wrong with him instead of the other way around. Well, if you could call that demanding. It was more of a attempt at a demand with a timid request at the end.
Phoenix let the breath he was holding rush out of his lungs and it was as if his entire body deflated. He'd been focusing so much on making sure Iris didn't have to worry about him that he just ended up neglecting his own feelings on the matter. Talking about it would probably make the nightmares stop, and ease his mind, but when he opened his mouth to do so no words slipped out. Anything he tried to say just got caught in his throat and it wasn't long until the unsaid thoughts started to choke him. He'd almost accidentally spilled the whole thing only a few seconds ago, why was he having so much trouble now?
"I'm not used to so much physical labor, I guess." He let out a pathetic lie. "Plus with all the stress about upcoming classwork and stuff..." He threw in a sprinkle of truth to make it sound more feasible, but he was way too tired to put any reassurance behind it. "and the-" The words stopped again. All he had to do was say nightmares.
It took a moment for it to dawn on him. The reason he couldn't bring it up was because he'd have to explain them, and to explain them he'd have to tell Iris what he'd done. If she ever learned what he'd said to Dahlia right before she...what made this all worse was that he'd meant every one of those words. Had he...had he really commanded Dahlia to die? "I'm so sorry." He said softly and with eyes cast off to the side so he wouldn't have to look Iris in the face. "It'll be nice to sleep in a warm bed again." He pulled his lips into a smile, but he wasn't entirely sure if it was actually there or not. It was sort of a lame attempt at changing the subject.

Back-to-school anxiety? That's all it was? Then why couldn't he look her in the eyes? What on earth was he hiding from her?

"...you're lying..." Iris dropped her tone, hoping it would hide the shaking in her voice. She'd never been this forceful with, well, anyone, but she wasn't ever going to get to the bottom of this if she didn't make a stand. "Look at me," she begged, taking Phoenix's shoulders firmly with both hands. "I can tell you're in pain, Feenie! Why won't you talk to me? I want to help you, but I can't if you keep pushing me away!" She knew she was probably trembling at this point; it was taking everything she had to not just break down in tears.

As Doug reached the canteen he got the feeling that something was wrong. When he entered the room, although he could see most of the people walking around normally he also saw Greg sitting moodily in a corner and two of the people from dusky bridge were looking around anxiously. He began to walk towards where Greg was sitting, but he suddenly stopped in his tracks. Suddenly everyone in the room was staring at him with have in their eyes... and they were all Dahlia Hawthorne. He screamed in terror and fell backwards into...

Pure whiteness. He slowly sat up and looked around him. There were clocks of all shapes and sizes all around him, each with a different time on it.
"Hello?" he whispered quietly to anyone he hoped could hear him. And then everything happened. A cacophony of sound filled the air and the whiteness gave way to frantic colours; he stumbled around trying to look for somewhere to hide from his senses and suddenly...

"HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT ABOUT MY DOLLIE!" Doug suddenly found himself flying through the air, as he was pushed by a familiar guy in a pink sweater. He felt the crunch of the ground as he hit it, and heard the footsteps of the man he now realised was Phoenix Wright running away. And then he heard another set of footprints. He looked up, to see the Face of Dahlia Hawthorn. She was smiling as she helped him to his feet, and then without warning she shoved him towards the electric cable that had come loose. He felt the surge of electricity singe his vital organs and then...

He was back in the whiteness, staring at a clock in front of him. He could see, in it's reflection Dahlia standing in front of his lifeless body.
"This... this would have been what happened to me" he whispered again. It was then when he saw a clock shuddering and quivering in the distance. He ran towards it and as he did he could see that this was something in the future. He touched the clock and...

It was pitch dark outside and the wind was up, but Doug Swallow was worried. Someone had gone missing, and he needed to find them even though he couldn't remember any of the circumstances. He flashed his torch around the shell of the old burnt out building before spotting something in the gloom. He moved closer to where the object was and then suddenly screamed... someone was hanging from a noose, dead. Then he felt something hit his cheek and...

He opened his eyes. He was lying on the floor. "Ow..." he moaned, "that hurt, Greg!"

Phoenix pressed his lips together. Iris was doing her best to be forceful, but she still looked sweet and kind. He hadn't wanted to hurt her, but not telling her what was going on was just making things worse.
"Iris, I-" He'd force the words out if it killed him, and it felt like they were going to. "It's noth-" He was about to dismiss it again, but he squeezed his eyes shut and forced the words out. "I've been having nightmares!" He snapped loudly and wanted to run to the bathroom so he could throw up. She was going to ask him what they were about. She was going to ask him and he was going to have to explain. He...he couldn't...he just-
Phoenix bolted through the door behind him.

Gregor had almost finished mustering the courage to approach Emi when Doug Swallow walked in, froze, looked around with unseeing eyes, let out an inhuman shriek, and collapsed only a few feet away. Concerned for his friend and morbidly curious, Gregor approached Doug's supine form. It was plain that he was in some kind of altered mental state. His eyes, while open, were rolled up into his head. In a voice that sounded as if it came from a deep pit, he called to someone. "Hello?" Almost immediately, in a paroxysm of what might have been pain--mental or physical Gregor could not tell--Doug thrashed against the floor as if jerked up by his shirt and thrown back down. Three seconds later, he cringed and tensed as if his internal organs were on fire, eyes squinched shut against the pain. Again he spoke and again his voice sounded distant, feeble. "This...this would have been what happened to me..." Soon his legs started moving in an apparent effort to walk. Gradually, his legs stopped moving, but now his head was moving side to side. His eyes were closed, but it looked like he was searching for something...or someone. His chest began to heave. The search must have been becoming frantic. Another scream escaped Doug's lips, seeming to scrape his throat on the way out. I can't let this continue.

"Doug," Gregor whispered, tapping his unconscious friend on the shoulder. This wasn't helping. "Doug!" If I shake him, who knows what that might trigger? Forgive me, Doug. Raising his right hand one and a half feet away, he gave Doug a sound slap on the side of the face. "Doug! Wake up!" At last, Doug opened his eyes.

"Ow...that hurt, Greg!"
"Sorry, Doug...I couldn't let you go on like that. You were in some kind of altered state. If you were to die of fright, I'd never be able to forgive myself. You okay?"

Emi looked at the sketches that had resulted from Doug's display. She wasn't sure why she'd decorated them with clocks, or why she'd drawn him laying under a cut electrical wire that wasn't actually there. It wasn't often that he hand did things without her consent. She slipped down from her perch, walked towards the two, and held the sketchbook out for them to see if they wanted to look over at her. Her face remained expressionless and she never said a word.

After dealing with his business with the toilet he sat up and hit his back against the metal stall when he leaned against it. Cold usually felt nice after one tossed their lunch, but the chill of the room froze his bones and fractured needles of ice through his muscles and into his skin. Maybe he was coming down with the flu? Yeah...that had to be it.

Doug slowly began to breathe easier and relax. That was one freaky... whatever it was. He had the feeling that it was a vision, but he really didn't want to think about it too much. Then, he saw a young lady come up to them, and she held out a sketch pad. He smiled a brief smile and took a look at it. Clocks and fits and wires...
"You saw bits of my vision" he said thoughtfuly "Thats amazing." He sat there for a few more seconds. "Do you mind if I...?" she was still for a second before she shook her head and slowly gave him the pencil. He slowly began to draw the last thing that was etched into his memory, the person who had been hanged. It took him a while, since he wasn't too much of a drawing person but soon he had gotten the background and the rope done. He'd even made a brief outline of a figure, but then he'd hit a roadblock in his mind. There were hints here and there that he'd filled in, but apart from that he had no idea who the person was.
"I'm sorry, but thats all I can do for the moment" he said politefully to her, and passed back the pad and paper.
(OOC: Sorry for possibly mini-controlling Emi, but I couldn't think of any way to get the pad :( )

Stefan looked around the canteen. The man in the pink sweater, and the woman from Hazukura ((Is that the name of the place?)) had left, the man in the pink sweater obviously distressed. And that had distressed the woman... However, the little show put on by Doug, he raised an eyebrow. It probably was something in the water here. He made a mental note to buy some bottled water.

He observed the events unfold from a distance, keeping his eye on Doug, Gregor and the drawing-girl.

[OOC: I don't mind. Emi's an easy character to use. As long as you understand her basic personality (her lack thereof) then it's easy to figure out what her response to things would be.]

Emi took it and tore the page free. Then she held it out for him to take. Her mild curiosity had gotten the better of her and as usual her eyes open more. This let in the light and turned them from a dark brown to a honey gold. Other than that her face held no real expression. She considered offering a smile of some sort, but that never had positive results.

Phoenix would have to leave eventually. He'd have to face Iris and finish what he'd started. "Death and despair. That's all you know. I'm going to enjoy watching you burn. After all, you're so good at killing. Killing yourself must be the grand finale." The words echoed in his head. Why had he even said that? True, he'd been angry, but...was that the kind of person he was? Did he even really deserve a sweet innocent girl like Iris? Maybe...maybe he should just break it off with her...

It's amazing how sometimes a moment in time can last forever, and for Doug, that moment was when she opened her eyes. He'd never seen eyes like that before, the colour was new to him. But all too soon, the moment faded. He slowly retrieved the piece of paper from her and smiled again.
"Thankyou" he said happily. "May I ask your... um.. name please?" Doug was suprised at himself, he never usually was that blushy around other people, but for her he could make an exception.

"Emily Brown." Her voice was soft but firm. She never used unnecessary words in her speech. Her moment of curiosity had also faded and her eyes once again looked bored and dullishly dark. Once he'd taken the paper she turned and walked back towards the statue. She climbed onto the shoulder with swift ease and was drawing again soon enough. She captured that look on Doug's face before he took the page in a few corners before moving on to other things.

Doug just sat there on the floor for a few seconds, not really thinking of anything. Sure, she was a bit abrupt with him, but he had a feeling that that was just the way she was and he respected that. Still, he did feel a bit of dissapointment too, but he knew it'd pass. Friendships take time to start and grow, and it probably would just have to be longer between them. Then he noticed that Greg was just standing there not doing anything so he got up.

"Um, thanks for helping me and all that" he said quickly. "I need to eat now, so I'll see you in a bit" He got up and walked to the counter; he was happy to find out that the people there had saw the incident in the canteen and made him something special.

Iris stood dumbfounded at the restroom door for some time. Now that he'd mentioned it, he did look rather tired, and were those bags under his eyes? Still, she didn't understand why he couldn't have just told her he wasn't sleeping well in the first place. Then again, she'd felt awful for even entertaining the thought of bothering him for the exact same thing two weeks ago, so maybe he...

This second- and third-guessing herself was getting nowhere. Clearly there was more to this than simply 'nightmares', but Iris couldn't ignore the possibility that maybe she'd been a little too insistant on getting Phoenix to spill and only ended up making him feel more uncomfortable. She wiped her eyes on her sleeve and turned to a random passing student to bum a pen and sheet of paper. If the direct approach wouldn't work, she'd write him a letter, and sat against the wall next to the mens' room door to do just that.

The men's room door opened and Phoenix looked out of it. His eyes seemed a bit blacker than usual, but it was probably because they were contrasting with the dark circles under then. It didn't help that the expression on his face was colder than his body felt.
"I'm not feeling well. I'm going to go to my room." He informed Iris. His tone had nearly no inflection to it at all. He stuffed his hands into his pockets and made his way through the halls. He was being silly. There was no reason to break up with Iris. After all he loved her...didn't he? He had strong feelings towards her, but were they really love? Maybe Iris and her sister really were alike...but Iris was better at it...
Phoenix shook those thoughts from his head. He did love her, and she wasn't Dahlia. He was just getting all emo because of sleep deprivation. It felt sort of weird questioning himself like this. He chuckled softly. Maybe Iris was starting to rub off on him.

Iris had been lost in thought until Phoenix's statement broke her concentration. She looked up at him as he passed; the sight she beheld gave her chills. Did he look that bad before going into the restroom? Her brain hadn't quite processed what he'd told her until he was already several paces down the hall.
"W-wait!" she called after him, scrambling to her feet and stuffing her note into her robe. "I'll walk you there!"
