Phoenix's head turned slightly and he watched her catch up with him.
"You shouldn't worry. I'm probably coming down with the flu or something." He told her, but his eyes never left the ground while he did. While the rational part of his brain fully believed this comment, something inside of him was still nagging him for lying to her. He stopped walking, turned towards Iris, and grabbed her by the arms. His hands felt like death. "My nightmares have been about your sister and what I said to her on the bridge." His tone was flat and serious. It seemed the cold creeping through his body was numbing down the fears he'd had before. If she hated him when she heard this then maybe it would be for the best. He couldn't hide the truth from her...
Phoenix turned her around and he held Iris exactly the way he had when he was restraining Dahlia. His lips brushed against her ear and he whispered the words with the same smugly twisted anger he'd used then as well. "Death and despair. That's all you know. I'm going to enjoy watching you burn. After all, you're so good at killing. Killing yourself must be the grand finale." Phoenix closed his eyes and tone changed. He didn't sound guilty or remorseful because he honestly wasn't. He was just getting tired. "I told Dahlia to kill herself...and she listened to me..."

Iris' eyes swelled in horror as those words pierced her heart like shards of glass. Her strength had been sapped, and as she slid out of Phoenix's hold, she threw an arm out to the wall to keep herself from falling over completely. Never in her life would she have imagined this was what he was keeping from her. Dahlia... Yes, her sister had tried to kill them both, but...but even so, to hear this... Was it really true? Could it be?
"...why?" Iris choked weakly. She turned her head around to Phoenix, her face a mess of incredulity and tears. "Why did you say that?"

((OOC: I'm going to make the nightmare the next couple of posts. So I can get it out of the way.))

After saying goodbye to Meghan, Chris walked back to his dorm. After what had happened, they both decided to go to their dorms and let Phoenix and Iris handle themselves. They wanted to help, but they felt they would only get in the way.

Chris shut the door behind him and laid on the sofa. As he drifted to sleep, he kept on wondering just what the hell was going on...

((It starts next post. In case anyone has any complaints.))

"I was angry." Phoenix answered dully. "I wanted to see her suffer...and maybe...maybe I thought that if I said it she'd be shocked stiff and..." Phoenix sighed. "No, now I'm just trying to cover up for it." He looked Iris dead in the eyes. "I don't even feel bad about it. I couldn't care less that your sister died." He was lying again...he had to have been...why was he saying these things? It was even worse than when he couldn't admit to this at all.
Despite these thoughts Phoenix didn't look surprised by his words. With a soft huff of air he took off the pink sweater. "You'll probably want this back now." He muttered and started to walk towards his dorm again with the same dejected slump as before.

Watching Doug fumble for words in front of Emi, Gregor inwardly smirked. So he does have a soft side. And of course, it shows up around women.
"You saw bits of my vision. That's amazing. Do you mind if I...?"
Is he telling the truth or is that a come-on?
Listen to yourself! Do you have any idea how petty you sound? You saw the effect that vision had on Doug. Connect the dots!
Okay...in all fairness, clocks aside, it does square with what I've observed. Maybe I'm reading too much into this.
There. See? You're too vigilant for your own good.
"I'm sorry, but that's all I can do for the moment."
Maybe you're right.
"Thank you. May I ask your...um...name please?"
Heh heh heh. He has a crush on her after all. Can't blame him, I guess.
"Emily Brown."
Ow. That must've hurt.
Finally, Doug turned to Gregor. "Um, thank you for helping me and all that. I need to eat now, so I'll see you in a bit." And with that, he walked directly to the counter.
So that's my thanks, huh? Well, I know exactly how to repay that gesture: in kind!

Armed with bittersweet purpose, Gregor walked toward Emi with more boldness than was usual for him. "That was an interesting drawing. May I ask what else you've been drawing?"

Emi looked up at him and then handed the sketchpad over. Her hand was beginning to ache, so she wouldn't be able to draw much more to it anyway. There were several things in this particular pad, random drawings of trees, animals, crowds of people, the last page had several sketches of Doug's startled expression at her eyes, then his getting up, and even one of Gregory walking towards her. The sketches themselves were shaded and exact, like she'd taken a picture and printed it out in monochrome. In fact, the way she drew was a lot like a computer prints. She never had any underlaying sketchings that she refined and shaded later. She started at the top and made her way down and the result was the object in her mind. For her art was mostly just tracing the precise pictures in her head.

Iris quivered in place, her mouth agape as Phoenix walked away. This was what she asked for, right? The truth? She had no place to complain when she'd brought this pain on herself...
Don't cry, Iris. Don't you dare cry, she ordered herself. Clutching the sweater tightly to her, she wobbled off in the opposite direction, quickly building to a full sprint back to her former dorm room. She yanked the door open and threw herself on her bed, finally giving in and weeping loudly into her pillow.

As he looked through the sketchpad, Gregor was seized with childlike wonder. "Wow...you're a good artist! I sure wish I was this good with a pencil..." A little more than halfway through, he found the sketches of him from before Doug arrived. "You drew me? I'm touched! ...You captured the moods pretty well." Near the end, he found the sketches of Doug and finally, the last one of him. What he saw left him horrified. I look almost like Rasputin in this picture! What have I become? Shaking his head in self-reproach, he added apologetically, "Oh my...I hope I didn't frighten you."

As reality turned into darkness, Chris found himself launched into a dream.

He was running down the hall, his laptop held under his left arm. He turned around. She was still following him. Her, that parasol-wielding fiend... with that psychotic grin on her face. He kept going forward, until she suddenly appeared right in front of him.

"Why, hello there..." she said, still wearing her grin.

"What do you want?" he demanded, keeping his laptop tucked away.

"Quite demeaning tonight, are we not?" she asked. "And yet you shouldn't be asking me what I want... not after what YOU'VE done..."

"What I did?" Chris found himself grinning. "I don't think what I did matters."

"Does it not?" She tilted her head. "You stuck your nose in business where it didn't belong. You helped cause my death, along with those FOOLS."

"You deserved to be found out, Dahlia Hawthorne."

"Did I?" She shook her head. "Then did I deserve to die? Hm? Are you going to now tell me... that I deserved death for my actions?"

"Nobody deserves death... however, it was going to come eventually... you brought it on yourself."

"I didn't drop that damn lighter on purpose!" she found herself finally screaming out. "That fool tackled me and it dropped from my hand!"

"Lies." Chris' face turned serious now. "You said you wanted us all dead, even if it killed yourself in the progress!"

The scene suddenly changed. Instead of Dahlia facing Chris, now it was Meghan. Meghan put her hands on her hips and spoke: "Why do you keep dragging me around, Chris!? Do you want me to get killed?"

Chris took a step back; he hadn't expected this to happen. "I'm not dragging you around... I thought you wanted to come with me!"

"Well, I didn't!" she shot back. "You drag me into danger, again and again..." her eyes glinted as she said these words.

Chris caught the glint. "... You're not Meghan... come out, Dahlia!"

Meghan disappeared, and Dahlia reappeared. "Ha ha ha... did I upset you? Was the truth too much to bear?"

"The truth? My ass!" Chris shook his head. "You don't know!"

"You keep dragging her around, place by place... you put her in danger," Dahlia pointed out. "Do you not feel remorse?"

"Look who's talking about remorse!" Chris shot back. He kept from clenching his fists; the last thing he wanted to let her see was him getting angry. "You found pleasure in torturing people, even killing them! Look what almost happened to Suzumi! Look what almost happened to ME!"

"Ah, yes, the failed poisoning..." smirked Dahlia. "Were it not for that stupid drink you had, I would have killed you."

"And there's the crux of the matter... you enjoy killing people!" Chris pointed at her. "Why are you getting on MY case about what YOU did to YOURSELF!?"

Dahlia suddenly disappeared. And Chris woke up, standing up immediately, looking around, as if Dahlia would appear again suddenly out of nowhere. "... I have to go talk to someone about this."

"That's okay." Emi said if only because it was required of her. Her expressionless eyes blinked at him and stared. She slipped down from the statue and, with no respect for personal space, stood very close to Greg. Her eyes gained a yellow hue as she looked directly into his. This lasted about a minute before she backed off, got another sketchpad, and started to draw again.

Phoenix wasn't entirely sure what he was doing anymore, but the second he gave up that sweater his body had numbed from the chill. This was a strange feeling. Phoenix had been depressed before. Like the day his Christmas puppy got hit by a car, or the month after Miles moved away when he realized that Mr. Von Karma wasn't letting Miles answer his letters or come to the phone when he called to see if the letters had even made it to him at all....wait...Miles...he was here now, wasn't he? Bah, not that it mattered. Phoenix didn't really feel like trying to rekindle an old friendship. Actually, he didn't feel like having to deal with people at all. People were such a nuisance. He wouldn't be feeling this bad if they'd just left him at the temple blissfully unaware of them all.

A traveling student bumped into Phoenix's shoulder and a tingle went down his spine much like the feeling one gets when they move a leg that's fallen asleep for too long. This was rather unpleasant.
"Watch where you're going." Phoenix muttered at him and was going to continue on his way, when the student stopped and turned around.
"Excuse me?" He was a big fellow, probably a jock when he was in high school. In fact, he looked to be pretty fresh from it. Normally Phoenix would have smiled, apologized, and went about his business. Instead he gave the boy a dark glare.
"You heard me." He growled.
"You were the one that bumped into me, buddy." The jock cracked his knuckles. Phoenix smirked. For some reason his body warmed up at the thought of beating this kid down.
It only took one solid punch to the jaw to knock him down. Phoenix was stronger than he looked. He was also pretty light on his feet, so dodging the oncoming swings was easy when the guy got up. Phoenix cracked in a second punch, this one to the stomach, then he plowed his knee into it while the guy haunched over. When the guy was on the floor he placed a foot onto his ear and bent down with a smug grin on his face.
"Who bumped into who again?" He asked.
"I did." The guy grunted.
"That's what I thought." Phoenix used the foot on his ear to push himself upright. Then he turned around and walked away feeling quite a bit better than he had before. He even started to whistle as he walked down the hall.

Emi's reply came as something of a surprise to Gregor. "That's okay." It wasn't voiced with much conviction, but for some reason the calm of it had a powerful soothing effect on him. More than this, however, it was her actions that put his fears to rest. She established and held eye contact with him, came within two feet of him, and stayed there. Time seemed to stand still as she looked directly into his eyes, apparent interest coloring her own. He could feel his senses sharpen. Never before had he felt so blissfully alive. It was as if her spirit had extended itself through her eyes and into his, slowly flooding into his soul and touching a deeply buried part of him that had never been touched before. It was a little invasive, but at the same time immensely pleasing. For a solid thirty seconds, he was utterly open to her and oblivious to everything else. A full minute had passed when she gradually backed away, fetched another sketchpad, and resumed drawing. He remained still for another five seconds and then slowly sat himself down again, settling into a fond gaze as he watched her draw. Still waters do indeed run deep.

Stefan watched Phoenix's fight with the jock without expression. Sure, the spiky-haired male hadn't been as violent when he was at the temple (but Stefan had seen little of him then, anyway) but the jock may have just snapped the man's temper. Stefan moved, and lifted the jock to his feet, then he walked away. He followed Phoenix, but far enough away to have the man suspicious of him. Hopefully, anyway.

Emi glanced up at the man that was still there. Usually people walked away at this point. And the way he was starting at her...she wasn't sure how she was expected to react.
After some time of sketching she turned the pad around for him to see. It was of him walking a few feet behind a large crowd. The crowd itself was faceless, but the talk amongst themselves was joyful and loud. Gregory simply followed behind and watched, but his shadow reached out to them as if it could grab them.
She tore the page free of the book and held it out for him to take.

Was there someone following him? Phoenix slightly turned his head to look behind himself, but when he saw no one he returned his sight to his front. He couldn't help but laugh a little when he thought back to how that guy's ribs cracked when his knee crunched into his chest. He felt like he was on fire, but it was dying down too quickly. Just the glow of the embers resting in his chest now. He huffed a sigh and headed to his dorm room.

Chris walked down the hall, wondering what to do. He didn't get much sleep from that nightmare he just experienced, and no matter where he went, he couldn't get his mind off of it. This was strange. He was usually able to get anything off of his mind with enough willpower... but it's as if Dahlia's spirit had lodged itself into his mind, refusing to budge. As if the moment he fell asleep, she'd enter his dreams and try to chastise him for something else.

As he passed by the dorms, however, he heard crying.

Loud crying.

He walked over to an open door, and was surprised to see a familiar black-haired woman lying on her bed, face in her pillow, weeping.

"...Iris?" He stood by the door, knowing not to come in unless he was invited. "Are you okay?" He knew that this was probably because of Phoenix, and he wanted to get to the bottom of this mess, both why she was crying, and more importantly, what was wrong with Phoenix.

Even if it meant he had to fix it.

Dark, bloodshot eyes peeped out of her pillow as Iris heard someone call to her. Had she actually left her door wide open so anyone passing could see her in that pitiful state? How disgraceful. How long had she laid there like that, anyway? Half an hour? An hour? Wait, that wasn't important right now. If she didn't answer soon, he'd get really worried about her.
She quickly dried her eyes and spun around, getting back to her feet. "O-oh, hi there," she smiled unconvincingly. Getting her voice to steady was proving to be quite a task. "S-sorry we didn't go back to lunch... C-can I get you something to eat?" Iris hurried to her kitchen, paying no mind to the layer of dust on everything. What she couldn't ignore was the faint but distinct scent of spoilage from her refridgerator upon opening it. Well, she had been gone two weeks... "Um...maybe not...sorry..."

While in his room Phoenix found his old black hoodie and put it on. It seemed that no matter how many layers he put on he couldn't shake off the chill. After some brief grumbling to himself he looked up at the clock and realized he was already late for one of his classes.
"Feh." He stuffed his hands into his pockets and walked out. Not with the intention of going to class, mind you. He just wanted take a walk, maybe get something to eat. Something spicy. Curry was bound to warm him up. There was a noodle stand not far from campus, wasn't there? He checked his wallet for some cash, but discovered it was empty. "Damn." He stuffed it into his back pocket. Then he remembered he had five dollars sitting in the heart of that sweater. The stitching had come loose so he'd been using it to hold things. Nothing heavy or bulky, just stuff like notes and cash.
With a heavy breath he took out his cell phone and called Iris.

Chris was not one to be deterred. "Iris, something's wrong, and I can tell. You've been acting weird today. Phoenix as well. That doesn't even begin to explain what happened to Phoenix at the Temple two weeks ago." He tried his best not to look stern; he didn't want to look like he was trying to chastise her. "I'd like to know what's going on. You must know what's going on with Phoenix, and I want to know what it is." He decided to let his voice soften for the next part. "Meghan and I are your friends. We want to help you with whatever we can, especially when it seems like nobody else is able to." He realized Meghan wasn't there, but pressed on anyway. "I want to help you, Iris. Knowing what's going on will allow me to help you better, and even help Phoenix."

"H-have I?" Iris cocked her head; she didn't think she'd been acting any differently today. Maybe she wasn't as good at hiding her emotions as she'd thought. She sighed in defeat and walked back to her bed, waving Chris in. "I'm...not quite sure what's going on, to tell the truth..." she mumbled as she sat back down. She lowered her eyes and folded her arms in her lap. "At first, I thought...maybe he was just in shock after what happened, you know? But then I tried asking him about it today, and..."
Iris' cell phone rang out suddenly, and she promptly reacted by jumped out of her skin. She held her hand over her heart and breathed deeply a couple times before fishing the noisy thing out of her robe. What is wrong with me today? Once she saw the name on the caller ID, her heart started pounding again and her face practically burst into sunshine...but then she recalled their last conversation and the euphoria died in an instant.
She nodded to Chris apologetically, "I'm sorry, I have to take this..." and shut her eyes before flipping the cell open. She slowly pressed it to her ear, took another breath, and answered with what little cheeriness she could muster. "...Feenie?"

"There's a five dollar bill in the heart of the sweater I gave back." Phoenix informed her. He didn't sound happy to be talking to her, but he didn't sound a if the conversation from before had even occurred either. "Could you tell me where your room is? I need the cash for some ramen." It wasn't that he'd forgotten he said those things to Iris, it was just that at the moment he honestly didn't care. It was an odd feeling for him, but tons easier to deal with than the turmoil from before.

Chris walked in as Iris spoke, and once the cellphone rang, and she apologized, he waited. He didn't know why he was waiting. ... Wait, Phoenix was on the phone? What was going on here? Iris already confirmed that something was wrong, and yet, he's calling her. 'Maybe he's calling her to work things out,' he thought to himself. 'Yeah, that must be it. Whatever's wrong, maybe he's fixing it. ... Maybe I should also stay, just in case. I don't want to run out in case something else goes wrong. ... I'm confusing myself!' He continued to wait as the conversation went on. He paid courtesy not to listen in to the call, as the matter was most certainly private.

((OOC: Oh boy, I can see a confrontation later on. Keep in mind though, that Chris is a pacifist. So in the event a fight breaks out... well, I guess he'll lose. >.>))

Five dollars? That's why he was calling? She checked the sweater still sprawled out on her bed, and sure enough, there was a five stuffed behind the embroidery. Should she have stitched pockets into it? More importantly, why was he asking where her room was? He'd been there before.
"...It's at the corner of Oak and Sumac, room 2619," Iris answered flatly. "I'll be here," she added pointlessly before hanging up. She turned back to her guest and put on another fake smile. "He...needs some money he left with me..."
She slumped down on her bed again, returning to her position before the call. Holding this in was killing her, and clearly Phoenix wasn't in a talking mood right now. "...He says he keeps having nightmares from what happened two weeks ago... Not just what happened, but what he said. He..." Iris felt her throat tighten in objection to what she was about to say but forced it out anyway. "He told Dahlia he wished for her death... At least, that's what he thinks, it could just be part of the nightmare, I'm not sure...maybe he isn't either... I...I can't blame him for hating her, of course, and I'm sure he just blurted it out, we all say things we don't mean in the heat of the moment, but hearing that still upset me so much, so I asked why he would say that and he just stared at me, no emotion on his face at all, and told me he was angry at her and didn't care if she was dead-" She gasped and covered her mouth, and found herself wishing she could turn back time even a few seconds. "P-please forget you heard that last part..."

Chris stood there, listening to her explain what happened to Phoenix. As she explained the last part, she covered her mouth as if she had just uttered a disgusting swear word. ((OOC: Points to whoever gets the reference.))

He shook his head. "I'm sorry, I'm afraid I cannot forget it, but it does shed some light on what's going on. What I do know is that he did grab Dahlia from behind on the bridge... but I never heard what he said. He did seem like he was whispering to her, though. That's not even what bothers me. What bothers me is, I've known the kid long enough to see that he doesn't normally act like that."

Thinking back, he went on. "He's coming here, right? Let me talk to him. Perhaps I can try to figure out what's going on. If nothing else, I can at least give it a shot. But before that, is there anything else you can tell me about what went on? Anything will help. Did he tell you about what happens in his nightmares? ... Was it like my nightmare?" Like a mallet to the head, the memory of his nightmare jumped right back into his brain. "Did... she haunt him too?" He stopped talking there. He realized that he didn't need to be telling Iris about how her twin sister, post mortem, decided to haunt his dreams, and maybe Phoenix's too.

She didn't want to believe it, but she could probably still forgive him. As she mulled over the afternoon's events again, the last few words Chris spoke finally clicked in Iris' mind and snapped her to attention. "Wait...you said you've been haunted with nightmares about my sister, too?"

Still a little drunk on the sustained eye contact and close physical proximity, Gregor was quite happy to approach Emi again and accept the picture. This time his image did not frighten him, but he couldn't rid himself of the suspicion that this image might hold a deeper meaning. To be quite frank, he wasn't sure how to feel about it. Could she indeed have prophetic gifts? Of course it had occurred to him that she might have no more of an idea what it meant than he did--if indeed it meant anything at all--but he simply had to ask. "Very interesting...Is there a deeper meaning to this picture that I'm missing? If there is, could you please enlighten me?"

By this time, Doug had finished his meal and was sauntering towards the exit, but he quickly saw Greg and Emi together and moved closer to the wall. This was worrying. It was obvious that both him and Greg had taken a shine to Emily, and that could only spell one thing. T R O U B L E. It was strange really, 99% of the time he would have given up and let the other person win, but it seemed to him that his feelings for her must be the 1%. He decided to test the waters and see what he was up against, so he decided to walk in their general direction and try to engage in some friendly banter. Or at least try anyway, since he had the feeling that the conversation would end up in a punch up.

Chris had hoped she wouldn't have heard that. And now he wished he hadn't said anything; if he told her more bad things about her sister, he would only make matters worse. But he knew he was bad at lying to anyone; he also didn't have the heart to lie to someone who was broken.

He nodded and continued. "I don't know. I just think it's me. The situation on the bridge... it was almost half-traumatizing. But before you and Phoenix came on the bridge, she... Dahlia... spoke to me that day. She chastised me for the entire situation, seeing as Meghan, Suzumi and I were the only ones on the bridge at the time. In my dreams... she did the exact same thing." He shook his head. "I just think it's me, but it seemed almost as if Phoenix's nightmare and my nightmare are somehow connected. As if... as if she's actually alive in our minds or something."

Emi shrugged. She only drew what she'd seen when she looked into his eyes. To her it meant nothing, but people took it to mean whatever they wanted and were often right. Her brother had called it self fulfilling prophecy.

Phoenix wandered up to the doorway and and leaned against it. With her arms crossed and his brow crinkled he looked like a stern dad that was just about to scold Iris being out past her curfew and trying to sneak back into the house. When he saw the five dollar bill in her hands he walked over and took it. He didn't even mutter a thanks on his way out.

Briefly glancing to one side, he saw Doug approaching, wearing a look of concern. Having come to regret his earlier spiteful attitude and lost his anger amid the unexpected bliss of the last few minutes, Gregor hailed him. "Oh! Hi Doug...Is something wrong?"

Chris watched as Phoenix came in, took the money, and left. Noticing that Iris looked after him, ad his not giving a response, Chris had had enough of this. He turned around. "So that's it? You're going to come in here, take the money you called Iris about, but not even acknowledge her presence, or for that matter, even speak to her? What's gotten into you, man!?" He found himself pointing an accusing finger at Phoenix, suddenly looking stern.

Phoenix lifted an eyebrow at Chris, turned his head to look over at Iris, then looked at the finger being pointed at him. The thought of breaking that finger made the embers in his chest glow brighter. He'd have acted on that impulse if Iris hadn't been in the room. Stifling cold or not he couldn't bring himself to do anything that would upset her. Just being in the room had her on the verge of tears. God, she really was weak. What did he care if the delicate flower got crushed? For what she did she deserved it...what she did? What did she do?
Phoenix shook some of the numb from his head and for just a moment he wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but the chill settled back in soon enough and it frosted his eyes over.
"Do you want any noodles?" He asked Iris in a dulled tone.

"Well, I'm not sure" Doug replied truthfully "But I have a feeling that whatever it is doesn't really matter much in the great scheme of things." He looked down at his shoes for a couple of seconds before adding. "I hope I didn't upset you with my apology... I'm not too good with friendships" After a couple of seconds of looking down at his shoes, he looked up again at them both. "I need to go now; nice to see you again Emily". He then walked off towards his next lecture, leaving the other two in the cafeteria.

Iris squirmed a bit and tried to look at something besides this dark, cold man apathetically acknowledging her existance. She was becoming less and less certain she even knew who this person was; that thought made her horribly uncomfortable to say the least.
Biting her lip, she buried her pain for the moment and replied in the same emotionless tone. "...Do you want me to come, or are you just asking out of courtesy?"

"I'm asking to get this guy's finger out of my face before I feed it to him." Phoenix answered bluntly. "Though I'm seriously considering doing it anyway." He growled slightly and there was even a hint of a smile on his lips. There was something so adorable about the way Iris bit down her frustration. "Then again, I wouldn't mind having you along." His tone warmed, but it sounded more hungry than kind.

Emi watched Doug come and go, then returned to sketching.

Chris rose an eyebrow. "I think before that happens, you and I need to have a friendly chat." He lowered his finger, and his stern look was getting darker and darker. "Before things get worse." His tone got deeper than he thought it could have gone. Perhaps his anger was reaching a high point due to Phoenix's earlier comment; or maybe he wanted to set things straight before he felt like dishing it right back.

It was all so sudden. The urge rushed over him and he acted on it. He snatched Iris by the wrist and pressed her against the wall. His breath rushed down the neck. Then he heard it, it was barely audible, but there was a squeak from her throat. His heart jumped and when he looked into her eyes his own filled with fear. "Oh my god." He choked and pulled away. "Y-yeah..." His voice and body trembled "Maybe...maybe we should..." and he rushed from the room.

After walking from the room, Chris turned to Iris. "It'll just be a minute." He then shut the door behind him, and turned back to Phoenix. "Alright. I want to know just what is going on here. This isn't right, and I know it isn't. She said something about you having nightmares, and I'm starting to get the feeling that, for some odd reason, your nightmares might be connected to the ones I'm having. And, ion top of that, why are you acting so cold to her?" His voice had finally lifted from the coldness it had been earlier. Now it sounded more or less stern again. "Keep in mind that I'm doing this for both of your sakes."

Phoenix fell against the wall, grabbed his hair, and slid to the ground. Not all of Chris' words made it through, but he did hear the word 'cold' pretty clearly.
"Is it cold in here?" Even under the long sleeve sweater and hoodie his hair was standing on end. "Did they break the heat? What the hell?" He grumbled. With a hard huff of air he got up. "Whatever." He muttered. "I got what I came over for." It was as if he didn't even see Chris there the way he walked past him.

Chris turned around, suddenly getting angry again. "Hey! You can't just walk off like that! What about Iris back there!? And you still haven't told me what the hell's going on! What the hell has gotten into you!?" He tried his utmost best not to lose his cool. Thinking about how hurt he had made Iris, whether intentional or unintentional, made him even angrier than he was before.

Iris nodded silently, her face still frozen in place. Once the door clicked shut, she slid to the floor and hugged her legs to her. Maybe she was the one that needed sleep, she was starting to hallucinate. He'd been awfully cold today, even...disturbing at times, but he would never do what she just imagined he did...right? He'd never force himself on her...not her Feenie... She pushed herself back up weakly, not sure if she should be scared to death or sick to her stomach. Either way, she needed to know what was going on now. She pulled the door open to see the hoodied walking off and yelled after him.
"Phoenix!"

"I DON'T KNOW!" Phoenix roared when he turned to Chris. "I'M NOT SUPERMAN, OKAY? I'M NOT INVULNERABLE AND I DON'T HAVE THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING!" With a snarl on his lips his face got dangerously close to the man's. "So stop asking me." He growled. His body was still quivering, but it was hard to know if it was from rage or fear. It wasn't until he was about to strangle Chris when he realized Iris had called his name. His breaths were hard and uneven when he turned his head to look at her. "I think...I think something's wrong." He said weakly.
