Do you not care how hearing something like that would make me feel, either? You storm into my room and snatch money out of my hand like I owe it to you, you force yourself on me, and I come out here to find you about to start a fight with Chris? Why are you doing this to me? Why are you treating me this way? I admit I've made more than my share of mistakes, but I've always tried to do what I thought was best for you! Have I done something to you to deserve this? The ice in Phoenix's eyes cracked when she slapped him. It wasn't long until it melted into tears. What had he been doing? He felt terrible. Phoenix nearly collapsed onto Iris when he hugged her.
"Oh God, I'm so sorry." He was still shaking like mad. "I just didn't want you to worry about me. You worry about so much and-" He choked. "And-" The warmth didn't return until he broke down completely. "It was just so cold I can't stand the cold IthoughtIwasgoingtogoINSANEatthetemple!" He took in a breath and popped upright in surprise. "Wow, I feel a lot better. How weird is that?" His face scrunched in confusion, then it relaxed into a warm smile. "I didn't hate your sister. Well, I mean, I was mad at her, but I really did only say it to shock her. I wanted her to stop long enough so that Chris and that other woman could restrain her...I was just kind of an idiot about it." Everything was just spilling out of him now. He pulled her into another tight hug. "I love you so much. I never want to hurt you again."

Chris took this time to go talk to the man who had appeared. "I think we should leave them alone for a minute. Either way, it looks like my prediction was right... that woman was haunting our dreams. Somehow." He shook his head. "I don't think I ever introduced myself. Name's Chris Hall." He stuck out his arm to shake Stefan's.

Was it over? Was he back? He seemed to be the warm, loving, slightly silly man she remembered. She wanted to think everything was okay now. She wanted to forget the things that still didn't make sense.
Iris twisted her lip in doubt and pulled away from Phoenix. "...If you didn't want me to worry, you should have said that in the first place...and you still haven't explained what happened in my room..." She shut her eyes and turned her head off to the side. "I...I'm sorry, Phoenix...I want to believe you, I really do, but...how can I? How can I trust you just like that after all that's happened?"

"I really am sorry, Iris. I-" He stopped. The cold creeping feeling was starting to seep back into his spine. "AH! WHY IS IT SO COLD IN HERE?" He snapped and fell back onto the wall.

Iris jumped at Phoenix's outburst and rushed to his side. "A-are you okay? Here, try sitting down..." She offered her shoulder to help him down gently. "Maybe we should call a doctor..." A doctor? That wouldn't be of any help. How Iris knew that, even she couldn't say. Right now, she needed to figure out how to get things back on track between the two of them. It was foolish to think about that at a time like this, she knew, but...it just felt like the right thing to do.
"Phoenix?" Iris leaned over him to get a good view of his face. "Can you look me in the eyes and tell me what you've just been saying is the absolute truth?"

)Iris pulled a glass from the draining rack next to the kitchen sink. She almost turned the water on early to let the water run cool, but then realized that might be harder to drink what with his complaints about having the chills, so she filled it halfway with just-below-room-temperature water instead. She then rummaged through the cabinet above the sink until she found the small bottle she was looking for and removed a couple tablets. She returned to her bedroom, passed these things to Phoenix, and sat next to him, watching him curiously. "You really can't control yourself...?" She pressed her finger to her lips in quiet contemplation. "Do you think it would help if I hit you again?" she asked with a completely serious look on her face.

Chris nodded. "Indeed, it was. I want to believe it's merely a coincidence, but if those nightmares Phoenix were having had to do with Dahlia as well, there might be a connection. I think I need to go in and talk to him about it still, but on the other hand I think it's best to leave him in Iris' care for the moment. Still... it feels like the moment I fall asleep again, that... woman... will appear and chastise me for something else."

Stefan stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Methinks you have an onryō. She'll probably chatise for you for talking to me." He stopped stroking his chin. "I can attempt to explain what the hell's going on, from my understanding anyway, if I can get access to a table." He paused. "Or we can assume there's soemthing in the water here... such as LSD." Stefan applied a layer of sarcasm to the last sentence. He had no doubt that most people here were psychoctic WITHOUT the drugs.

God, Iris was so cute when she was upset...CRACK!
Phoenix looked down at his had. He'd fractured the glass that was holding the water. It wasn't enough to let the water escape, but if he squeezed any harder he could do some nasty damage to his hand. He cleared his throat, set the glass onto the table, and decided to take the aspirin dry.
He had no idea what this stranger wanted him to explain so he just offered him a glower for a response. This was so stupid, he was fine, why was he hanging around here anyway? He was going to get up, but something was keeping him there. It was the worried look in Iris' eyes. It would devastate her if he just left, and as much fun as that sounded he was too tired to deal with her possibly going off on him again.
"Don't know what you're talking about." Phoenix decided to answer his question after at least a minute of silence. He tucked his hands behind his head and flopped back onto the bed.

Phoenix started to laugh so hard it caused him to roll back. With a clump of his hair gripped tightly in his hand he sat back up.
"I am such an idiot." He said when the laughter calmed into chuckles. "I just let her make me into a puppet. Of course I didn't kill her. So I told her to kill herself? If you told me that right now I wouldn't go off and do it. Sure, it was stupid of me, but I didn't even mean it. I was just desperate to make her stop." He was babbling again. The cold feeling was still there, but now that he understood what was happening he wasn't going to let it control him. All of those urges before to hurt the people he cared about, those were all Dahlia. He felt so much better just knowing that. But then...what about with Iris earlier...surely she didn't want to... Phoenix shivered. She probably didn't, but making him do something like that... Phoenix could feel the anger boiling up again.
The look that he gave Iris was dark and serious. It matched his tone perfectly. "Iris, I would never hurt you. What happened before. I couldn't go through with it for that reason." As he spoke he could feel the cold seeping out of him and he, and likely Dahlia, came to the same conclusion. "As long as I'm with you no amount of evil can overtake me." He smiled as soon as the warmth returned. "You're my rock."
Meanwhile a chill rushed over Emi. She paid little attention to it. Nor did she notice the sudden dark turn her sketch had taken. In only a few strokes two people pulling away from a hug became one strangling the other. She turned to a fresh page.

By this time, Chris felt weird. It was as if his fear had suddenly left. "... That was strange." He shook his head, and continued speaking. "So it looks like everything's back to normal for now, right? I hope you didn't mind me kind of putting my nose where it didn't belong." He scratched the back of his head nervously, running through his mind what he felt like he shouldn't have tried to do without asking first.
Meanwhile, Jade had decided to come visit her brother. On the way up, however, she spotted Emi drawing, with someone near her, watching. She decided to greet them, knowing the man who was standing there. "Hey, Mr. Gregor! Long time no see! Is this your friend?" She looked at Emi. "What's your name? I'm Jade. Jade Hall. Chris' brother, if you know him."
((Correct me if Gregor's not there. I thought Doug had left already.))

"Um...have we met before? I felt like I've seen you somewhere." Phoenix was going to apologize to Stefan for all the drama, but that would start getting redundant after a while. He was right in a way. It would be foolish to assume this was all over now. Just because Dahlia seemed to have let him go didn't mean she wouldn't dig her claws into him again later, or even someone else. "We should probably tell everyone who was at the bridge what's going on." He declared. He'd nearly forgotten that he asked Stefan a question just seconds before.

It was Mr. Wright, Iris and one of the people he'd spied in the cafe, and they were arguing. After a lot of shouting and pleading the truth was finally uncovered; Dahlia was giving people bad dreams and was trying to take over Phoenix's mind. It seemed as if the ghost or whatever it was had left him, but Doug still felt as worried as before. Almost as if... he felt something behind him and turned around, and there she was. She had a smug look on her face, just as if she was gloating at him.
"Oh I see now" Doug said quietly, "This is a challenge." The apparition nodded and laughed at him before fading away. "Looks like she's going to strike again, I need to be prepared." He got out his phone and began to dial the payphone at the strange temple that Mr. Wright had been found at. He hoped that the lady there knew what an onryō was, for all their sakes.

))Gregor had given up on pursuing Doug and started writing a poem in honor of the moment he and Emi had locked eyes and the sketch that came out of it when he was jolted out of his sweet creative oblivion by a high feminine voice.

"Hey, Mr. Gregor! Long time no see! Is this your friend?" He opened his mouth to speak, but she quickly turned to Emi. "What's your name? I'm Jade. Jade Hall. Chris' brother, if you know him." Emi replied in her typical terse fashion. "Emily Brown." After answering Jade's questions with a short "no", Emi went back to her sketching. An awkward silence fell, then Jade broke it once again.

"I can if you want." Emi replied dully.
Seeing that Jade was highly distractible and outspoken, he gave up on the poem for the time being and resigned himself to watching her interact with Emi. That wasn't so bad. After all, it gave him an excuse to let his eyes drift in Emi's direction every now and then and Jade could be amusing when watched from a distance.
