You have to remember that A: Iris was impersonating Dahlia for those six months, and B: Phoenix only met the real Dahlia twice, so it'd be hard to notice a difference between the two.

I agree with Franzise that Iris couldn't have told Phoenix the truth without throwing her sister, whom she loved and felt sorry for, to the wolves as well as putting Phoenix's life in danger. Dahlia killed anyone that she believed was a threat to her and if Phoenix had known, Iris's pleas wouldn't have been enough to stop Dahlia anymore. On top of that, Iris loved her sister, desperately wanted to save her from the fate before her, and believed that she could protect them both by retrieving the necklace from Phoenix without giving her sister away. Of course it didn't work out and she ends up losing the two people that she loved the most, which is so sad that it makes me want to cry.

Now on a happier note, here's a picture. Another one where the pairing is implied (I'm working on finding pics where the pairing isn't just implied, but it can be hard <_<).

It certainly could have been. That would fit in the timeline as far as I recall and its never specified when he got it. Who knows. But I'm pretty sure Phoenix would have kept it somewhere safe. I don't think he would have sent it back to Iris for that matter.

Oh, I'm sure that sweater is still around. Phoenix has always been very sentimental (after all, he takes good care of Charley in Mia's place as well as still having all her old law books which he never reads).

He would never get rid of something that was so important to him. I can't imagine he would have even done so right after Dahlia's apparent betrayal. Phoenix admits at the end of the game that he always believed in his "Dollie" and throwing that sweater away would be about the same as giving up on her. I simply can't see him doing that.

I thought he was just being stupid when I first read that. I was shocked to play it again and realize that he was on the right track. He really did love her... And Iris, poor thing. She just might have loved him more.

Just finished the game so I can finally comment on this (yeah I'm an Phoenix/Iris shipper too; not against Maya, just that Iris seems better imo).

Given how much the game featured various flashbacks to remind players (obvious or otherwise), I'm surprised this one wasn't shown. Would've been a great effect to show it after she calls him Feenie (awww) again :ayame:

. After all not everyone thought back to that moment either; or at least it would've been better than the faith statement he gave afterwards.

I too was kinda annoyed at how "stupid" you/Phoenix were for that case, but yeah, it was true all along.

Anyway for the purposes of PxI, when I go play GS4 I'll just pretend it's completely unrelated :phoenix:

Well, GS4 is technically told from Apollo's point of view so I wouldn't count it as part of Phoenix's story. More like a sidestory if anything else...

I don't recall any talk about them having a picture taken together, but if they had one I do think he'd still have it. Sort of like how I doubt he would have tossed the sweater, I can't imagine he would get rid of any pictures of them. It would basically an admission that he had given up on her and we know that he never did. I doubt that he would have carried any pictures of them around with him after that incident though or put them where Maya could see them. It would just spark too many painful questions. ... I just had a really depressing imagine flash through my mind of Phoenix keeping the pictures of them in like his dresser or desk drawer and crying over them periodically... now I've depressed myself. :nixiesob:

Well Phoenix would still have feelings for her so i'd doubt he would throw them away.

I actually think that Pearl would cope pretty well if Phoenix and Iris explained it correctly. The reason Pearl is so set on Phoenix and Maya being a couple is that she is terrified that Phoenix will leave them as all the men in her life have, but believes that if he's in love with Maya then he won't leave. Iris would work as well as Maya in that respect though. She is Pearl's sister and Maya's cousin, so Iris's becoming Phoenix's romantic partner wouldn't threaten Pearl's family in the long run. I do think she would probably be grumpy for a time, but she's a smart girl and I think she'd end up being okay with it.

Arghhh...why is it that I have to come up with topics? At this rate, I'll have enough fat to last me through winter....

Hmmm...I can't really think of any that can be expanded on as everyone knows enough and the rest is left to fan-interpretation. I do really wonder if Iris will leave the temple for Phoenix's sake as I do know that shrine maidens can leave the temple if some calling is greater than their commitment to the temple (usually starting a family is that calling). If that's the case, where do we go from there?

IrisWright, I'm pretty sure Iris gave that sweater to Phoenix. I doubt Dahlia in her right mind would give it to him and besides, Iris told him that he and Dahlia only saw each other twice. The rest were Iris in Dahlia's place...simple.

Anyway, I think Iris would leave the temple. I didn't get the feeling she was really devoted to the temple, although she clearly loves Bikini a great deal. Iris states that she was there to make up for her past sins, so as long as she felt that she had made up for what had happened (which I think she probably would feel was finally settled after Phoenix forgives her so clearly at the end of the game) that she would no longer feel obligated to stay as a shrine maiden. I imagine she would still visit Bikini, but she loves Phoenix and I do think she would be willing to go with him. As for after that, I always pictured Iris going back to school and becoming an elementary school teacher. Just with her kindness and general temperament, I could see her being very good at that. We aren't led to believe that Iris is stupid, just naive and sheltered, so I think she would be fine going back to school particularly if Phoenix was there to help. ... I clearly spend too much time thinking about this. :P
