Yea.... I'm pretty sure the => Arrow does not fly that fast, or that far either. Yanni Yogi

I was gonna see if i could find a video online showing the speed of it, but it probably would be better if I recorded the animation from my computer.

Also, don't think anyone replied to my previous reply yet. Ack

I just realized something. How will the file size compression be handled? When I checked the EXE of the demo of the first case remake from your trial maker, it's about 6 MB alone. I would imagine it would be something like a range from 10-20 MB just for one complete case, with all the text, sprites, music, audio, and everything coded into a case. Seems kind of big file size just for one single case. Or is all that 6 MB just for the music/audio alone? Ack

PLus you could release case installments as you make them. Therfore lowering the total needed to be downloaded at a singular time.

Most of the filesize is because of the music, graphic, etc.. A full game uses the same graphical and music resources and therefore you probably wouldn't even make it ANY over 30mb if you completely remade PW:AA (with all resources).
Oh and that exe I made, it has quite some unneeded resources in it (like, I dropped Oldbag in it wtf). I tried to remove the uneeded stuff and it was around 4mb.

whoops, forgot one.

The textbox top, where it writes your name, is lifted up above the main textbox.

Look here for how it looks in game:

Actually, I think there's only a small arrow icon over there. I didn't see the igger arrow.

Any who. I made this for you. It's just a simple animation of how the arrow moves in the game. ;)

Animation times may not be accurate though. Detective Gumshoe

About controlling the text, will we be able to control the speed of the text's sound audio? Because it would sound weird if the text was scrolling fast, but used the slow audio. Meekins

Also wondering, will we be able to do voice acting in any scene, not just "Objection" "Hold It" etc. But real voice acting like some of those TGS special case trailers? Phoenix

Since you can select your own audio you could just pick a faster one, eh?

Yep. You could just make it start a Sound Effect (the voice) right before it plays the text. No biggie.

Now I've got the Hebrew name. Phoenix Thanks for changing the thread topic. I understand how not many questions are being asked about my case maker, as I'm still preparing footage of the tool in action. There are some questions that need answering nonetheless...

Gerkuman wrote:
Ok's, I am now starting to make the 'CaseMaker's' website. I need to know from both of you what you want on your opening 'about page' ^_^ It needs to be a quick opening overview, and then your latest beta and the features your casemaker can do. Please send them to me ASAP :3

<-Also, Look at ma Avvie ^_^ Custom sprites FTW! (It's for one of my test cases...)

Erm, I'm not sending any betas yet. It's hardly in alpha stage yet. There's no way in Hell I'm rushing my program. Gymshoe I want to give everyone the best case maker possible. Treating this whole thing like a race won't help me accomplish that. I can, however, provide you with screenshots soon enough, and that video I promised. I'd rather talk to you online about this. Maybe I'll catch you tomorrow.

WOW, and the court/trial scenes for this hasn't even been made here yet! I'm already excietd! Godot

Also, how will the camera panning work, for scrolling from Prosecutor/Defense to the witness stand?

IIRC, the entire courtroom from left to right (from defense, to witness, to prosecution desk) is all attached to each other, as one single image when I ripped the background myself.

Is your case maker going to use the example above like this, or are the court blur lines going to be coded in a different way, rather than camera panning?

I accomplished it myself by using that image. In my case maker, you'll be able to select courtroom images, whether it's from GS1-3, GS4, or your own custom ones.

Oh, and MechaBowser, I can't open your case maker from here. It must be the fact that PowerArchiver sucks. I'll try it at home though. But seriously, having everything packed into one big, fat EXE is not a cool move.

Not your actual BETA, just the name of the beta you're at, the features it can do and either a video (like what you want to do) or a test case (Like MechB did) that illustrates it.

Sorry If I confused you Shaun :F

It's like, 0.1c at the moment. XD I'm working on it quickly, but I'm not rushing like some people may be. The thing I don't like about MechaBowser's way of working, is he jams all the features into it as quickly as possible. In theory, that's good. In practice, it's not, because it makes it ten times harder when you try and add a new big feature.

So, I think a video of the tool should be sufficient. And it'll be done when it's done.

....why? I'd much rather have one .exe file than 140 diffrent .dlls and whatnot. Much smoother, and usually require less space. Much more easier for the user to handle, to boot.

Damn, Shaun. You so jellous that it's laughable! Larry

I'm not sure, but will it be possible to have diffrent cases under one .exe? You know, to make some unlockable?

I'm not jealous. I'm sorry that you're unable to see the problems. In fact, I feel sorry for MechaBowser for also not being able to see the problems. By the way, no DLL files will be needed. Oh, and when my case maker is out, and each case is at least three megabytes smaller, you'll see my point.

MechaBowser wrote:

No. This is a simple mistake that can be made when it comes to any kind of programming. Seriously, if you do everything else now, it'll be hard to implement psyche locks, for example, later on.

Shaun if you don't mind me saying can you stop trying to prove some kind of empty point here? MechaBowser's doing it his way and you're doing it yours. All you're doing is making yourself sound like a dick by attacking MechaBowser's way of working. Just... work at your own pace. If yours is REALLY going to be better, you don't NEED to preach so much about it.

Wait A minute. Why does our animations have to be a certain size? That isn't fair on the people who make their own sprites (Like my Strong Bad one. Can you make a tool that centers the sprite in the right position?

That sounds tricky, it would be difficult for the program to determine exactly where to place the sprite (especially if there's random transparency about the place), so you might end up with the key witness being a torso magically floating in mid-air.

I'm sure some basic functionality could be created, but to get the best results, why not just make a transparent image with the right dimensions and copy/paste your sprite exactly where you want it to be?

I'm pretty sure any kind of sprite/character can be resized, sprited/edited with th DS's dimensions of 256x192. What, is that not enough dimensions for you? Maybe you can cut the lower body of your characters more so they would fit in that dimension area.

I mean, how much more dimensions do you need? Nick

BTW, out of curiosity, will we have an option to change resolution size of the game? For example, if the original screen size is 256x192, would we be able to have the option to resize of the window x2 of its original size (like 512x384)? This would be good for computer monitors that are currently using a high resolution size.

Not sure if this has been answered yet, but weill we be able to test certain scenes after we create them?
In other words, besides going through the entire game we make, just to test out one particular scene would seem a bit too much. Like if we only needed to test some animations, or only test witness testimoneys, or cross examinations, etc.

Well, ehh, you could split the game up in ActionLines and then make it start at a certain ActionLine when you preview your game.
