I watched all of it...and never found out what is so good in this anime
Alphonse is a crybaby and annoying,Edward just doesn't fit as a main character
The rest of the characters lacks development and the whole story is random
There is no humor and a few mediocre fight scenes,so wtf?
Well...there is only one good thing about this anime-Episode 7

Have you looked into the Seinen genre? I think thats where all of the tough series went.
I thought the Azumanga Daioh anime was a overrated, the manga is a completely different story though.

The Fullmetal Alchemist manga is where it's at, if you're wondering why it's so "good". The anime was okay, up until it branches into its own storylines.

Seinen manga might have too much plot for what he's looking for; I suspect he's enjoying manhwa because what gets translated tends to be nothing but martial arts fighting series of questionable sexist degrees; art tends to be nice, anyway.

I personally think Eggman is cooler than Sephiroth *shot* XD
But seriously, I love FFVII and all in general, but it's way overrated.
As for anime, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I mean, it was an okay anime with an orginal plot but I didn't think it was the greatest series in the world.
I personally thought Ouran High School Host Club was better than Haruhi Suzumiya. :/

Ok kind of mean but well who says because its action and tough boy stuff it can't have a story. I mean just because the story is about a high schooler who wants to grow up to be a championship winning boxer (rokudenashi blues) that doesn't mean it has to be worse then any non- tough series like hey let's throw a random dude in a house with a bunch of hot ladies! (Love Hina). Also is preferring manga (or manhwa for that matter) with predominately male characters make me a sexist?

As for the sexism, it's not the predominance that makes a series sexist (IE, having more male characters than female) but instead either how the absence is treated (where ARE the women, if there are any) and HOW those women who do appear in the series are treated; in Zero: The Beginning of the Coffin, for example, the main character basically chokes his girlfriend almost to death because she disagrees with him, and no one else in the scene seems to find this particularly troubling--basically it's that he's a guy so this is a-ok.
Anyway that's a different debate for another topic.

When it comes to books, Eragon is pretty overrated. I actually think the movie was better, because then I didn't have to read Paolini's writing. Lord of the Rings really just bored me... I thought the movies were more entertaining, but that's just me. Harry Potter is good, but very overrated. There are so many good fantasy books out there but people talk about this one as if it's the best of the best. I prefer Discworld. I do feel bad for Rowling, though. I wonder what she thinks about all those crazy fangirls out there making Dumbledore impregnate Snape, or something crazy like that.

I definitely agree with you on that. While the anime has some good animation and music, the manga is just so much better when it comes to the characters and the overall story, which are much more important, in my opinion.
I hope Hiromu Arakawa's new manga gets good. So far it's felt kind of cliche with "chosen" people and all that.

Contrary to popular belief, or preconceptions, manga comes 90% of the time before the anime, (Other things like game based anime (Tsukihime, Fate Stay Night) are obviously different) and the other 10% are manga published afterwards to 'fill in' gaps or to 're-tell' the story. Eureka Seven is a pretty modern example; Abenobashi Mahou Shoutengai is another.

To be honest my biggest gripe with dubs tends not to be about the actors (although some of them are pretty bad) but they tend to...try either too hard, or not enough. It's a weird balance; I prefer though to watch my Japanese television in Japanese.

If I understood Japanese and could listen to anime/manga without missing anything, I'd do it in Japanese no questions asked : Original language always beats translated language in that sense.
However, seeing as I don't, and I find most Japanese voice-actors to have so few variations in their voices that eventually, all character archetypes end up sounding the same, I'll take the english dub (unless it's so badly done that it grates my ears... Example : KoF Maximum Impact 2. The problem here being that the Japanese voice-acting wasn't better.)
EDIT:
And to add some fuel to the fire, what's overrated? Titanic. That movie sucked the big one. James Cameron, as a director, is even worse.

I think the best dubs I've ever listened to were Fruits Basket, the newest dub of Gatchaman and Prince Arislan (until they switched EVERYONE'S voices).

Oh man I KNOW. I hated that about Arislan, it totally ruined it for me back when I rented it. I was like 'what happened to all of their voices. :<'

However, I stopped watching/reading FMA after Hughes died (he was my only favorite), so.. I guess I have no say in that series... And I CANNOT stand Ed's enligh actor. Hate that guy... and his fangirls/fanboys. I am also quite sick of being the only Roy/Hughes fan among all the Roy/Ed fans. x_x
InuYasha... was the worst kind of hero I ever laid eyes on. For a over 100-year old half demon, he sure acted like such a obnoxious teenager. Phoenix >>> Inu Yasha. 'nuff said. (No. we're not going by SUPER POWAHS11one!, either. *rolls eyes)
These are the only series that I can think of that ABUSE the idea of adding episode/chapter fillers. I wonder if Death Note is going to suffer the same fate... But.. at least it has a decent plot. x__X
Ouran Host club's starting to suffer the same fate of being over-rated, for sure.. but at least not THAT badly.. .>.>

Ah~ good to hear. I didn't mean to be offending. I mean, I remember when I used to think Roy/Ed seemd cute but that, along with AL/Ed was hard to weed through. o_o
Oh. Don't worry. You were actually as nice as you could've been about it. Her stories were hard to get into. I only saw one episode of Ranma 1/2 and didn't even bother anymore. I even traded out the forst 2 volumes of the mangas for something else. She seems to thrive off of Ranma and InuYasha, though. I don't even like her art-tyle, either, personally. D=

Woah that's no good! I do not approve of that kind of stuff at all. Not all "tough" manga is about beating up girls though right? I do not read anything like that. Also what about mamiya in HnK she was a fighter right? Sure I'm not going to say that yoko in Ashita no Joe is some big bad brawler and I guess it is sexist that her major role is to cheer on Joe in the end of the series but um if you find a boxing manga with a girl as the main character sure I'll read it. Just because I like tough manga does not mean in any way that I think women are less then men.

I remember while reading Saint Seiya that the female characters impressed me a lot, for an older example.
