*I know I didn't add Franziska or Von karma, but I figure since this is the first Apollo game, they might add their counterparts later in. So for now, they lie under the "Other" category. Along with Winston Payne I guess.
Now for personal Opinion. I vote Phoenix because he started the franchise. He was the guy that made this game what it is, not to mention he's just an awesome character on his own. I've grown to accept Apollo, but he doesn't quite match up to Phoenix.
Maya is alright, but Trucy pawns. I love her character design, and her silliness just about matches Maya's, which I like as well. Her scared pose is pretty cute too. Easy win here.
Edgeworth was a formidable adversary throughout the series. Gavin barely does anything and when he does, you usually end up pawning him right back anyway. Not to mention that "Herr forehead" bit is incredibly boring as a taunt and get's old really quickly. Franziska ftw when it comes to taunts.
I like Dick (rofl) better than Ema only because of how much of an idiot he was. Ema still helps you (much more willingly mind you) than gumshoe, but doesn't leave much for an interesting conversation. Mostly just *MUNCH MUNCH MUNCH*. Too bad, I liked her as a teen much better.

Trucy. She rules. And she likes pudding! Plus, my friendly neighborhood Mr. Hat is awesome.
Edgeworth. Klavier was boring as hell and then some. Bring us a prosecutor with an interesting background for AJ, guys!
Gumshoe. Ema was just stupid and grumpy. It was all Snackoos and munching with her.
Kristoph. Why the hell hasn't anyone voted for him? He's got my three Cs: cool, calm, and collected. With all the stuff he's got under his belt, he can't be beat. Mia, especially at the end of T&T, just lost her touch. She only came in the nick of time to save your ass when you couldn't figure a way to get yourself out of the hole you dug.

Phoenix Wright: Because for one, I'm not that fond of Apollo. He just can't ever hope to live up to Nick, in my book. ;-;
Maya Fey: I don't have much of a reason really, except the fact that spirit medium trumps magician. I think it's more original.
Miles Edgeworth: This was the closest one, really. But I like Miles too much to just back down on him like that.
Dick Gumshoe: Same as above; Ema might have possibly taken the prize here had she not gotten irritable. Gumshoe being my favorite character has nothing to do with this, I swear /sarcasm
tbh until Apollo lives up to Nick game-wise, this will continue to be an unfair contest.

Phoenix: After seeing him through 3 games, it's hard not to like him.

Apollo: I don't know~ My sister pointed out how I liked him MUCH more, and it kidna unnerved her. XD There really is no specific reason why I like him more. My mind is strange. Honesly, though, it's pretty close with Phoenix.

Trucy - she doesn't constantly get herself in trouble, and she's just generally smarter than Maya while staying cute.
Edgeworth - he has a very rich character which has developed quite a bit throughout the three PW games, but is always "Edgeworth". While I like Klavier, all his development seems to have happened within one game and is much more shallow.
Gumshoe - Ema was cute, but she will never have the same level of lovability as Gumshoe. I'd rather have the "I can't do anything right, but I'll do it with passion anyway!" than the "BAWWWWW I HAET MY JOB" attitude.
Kristoph - he just seemed cooler in general. I love Mia

Prosecutors: Edgeworth. I like Klavier, but Edgeworth has so much emotional complexity. Not to mention his hysterically deadpan reactions to the madness he is daily surrounded with.

Phoenix - Apollo doesn't change at all through AJ. It still feels like he's a complete rookie after 4-4, mostly because everyone keeps building his cases for him. There's no real sense of accomplishment like when you took down von Karma and Gant, and at least by the end of AA, you know why Nick became a lawyer.
Maya - BUR = SPAGHETTI FESTIVAL
Trucy is cute and all and has a couple amusing lines, but I just didn't care much for her as much as I did Maya.
Edgeworth - Again, Edgeworth actually changes in AA. Klavier just puts all his faith in Apollo right off the bat for no real reason and usually does a lot of Herr Forehead's work.
Gumshoe - Ema's kind of a bitch most of the time in AJ.
Plus Gumshoe has superior theme music.Toss-up - Kristoph is interesting. Saying much more would be spoilers. I actually didn't mind Mia too much until her unneeded cameo in 3-5. At least she doesn't build Nick's entire case for him like some AJ characters.

Maya, Trucy, not sure I like them both the same (I wonder how they get on with each other, I would like to see that in the next game)
Edgeworth, Cool just cool. He better than Gavin *shoot* mainly because we help the character, unlike Gavin who just starts out being nice there no depth to him.
Gumshoe, I love Gumshoe his personality is awesome. His puppy dog look *sniff* gumshoe is more a friend than Ema *cough* *munch* *munch*
I was 17 when I joined this forum. During this time I participated in a thread that made light of sexual assault and event making jokes about it. I didn't think much of it at the time other than portraying a villain. I am older, looking back see how unacceptable & disgusting. I removed the comments because I do not wish to condone this behaviour. But of course fragments remain. I can only apologise for any hurt of distress caused.

Maya- I think Trucy is cute and likable, with a great theme and design. But as a character goes, she's woefully flat and underdeveloped, she's too 'perfect' and exists as nothing other than a simple cardboard cutout to say something cute and then continue not getting any character development. Maya, in contrast, while childish at times shows more emotion in 1-2 than Trucy does in the entire game, and her insecurity in 1-4 leads to some of her most awesome moments. Whereas the only hint of character depth with Trucy is Phoenix TELLING us she feels sad--which is sloppy writing.
Edgeworth- Like Trucy, Klavier suffers from cardboard cutout syndrome. He's cool, he's fun, no doubt about that. But he's got very little depth to his character, he doesn't change over the course of the game, and they really underdevelop him when they had the chance (twice). Plus, he's boring in court. Edgey is much more interesting in court, has actual motivations and changes over the course of the game--not only as a person, but as a prosecutor.
Gumshoe- Ema is cute when she's in SCIENCE!!! mode. Otherwise, she's dull, bitter, and annoying. Gumshoe is lovable and funny and awesome.
The cast in the first game simply blows their AJ counterparts out of the water. AJ has a better supporting case-specific cast though.

1. Phoenix: Even when he's a rookie, he seemed much more capable than Polly, who couldn't stop being a nervous scared little puppy for 5 seconds. Plus, Phoenix has taken a whole shitload of physical abuse: whipped, tased, coffee cupped, punched, smacked, and hit by a damn car. Polly, if you want to prove yourself a true defense attorney, take a little pain first...
2. Trucy: I liked Maya during the PW era, but Trucy is just plain better. Plus, she isn't a friggin' damsel in distress. Maya get arrested twice, and kidnapped once. Trucy fakes an abduction to buy time for Polly. Also, magic panties.
3. Klavier: You Edgeworth fangirls are probably going to kill me, but given the choice between having sex with Edgeworth and having sex with Klavier, I'd go with Gavin everytime.
4. Gumshoe: Main reason: Ema was a bitch in GS4. I like Gumshoe and his lovable idiot personality better.
5. Mia: One word: tits. But besides that...

Maya - She's much more enjoyable to work with. Plus, her personality meshes well with Phoenix's, while Trucy and Apollo were kinda bland as an investigation team. (Although I do like Trucy).
Edgeworth - I just dislike Klavier... sorry. =(
Gumshoe - I *adore* 1-5 Ema, I really do. But I don't like what she's turned in to in the AJ series. Gumshoe is just a lovable goofball, and I enjoy every moment he's on screen, while there were times when I dreaded talking to Ema.
Mia - While I don't really think you can compare Mia and Kristoph, if I had to choose... I'd choose Mia. No reason, really.
Poor AJ characters... I don't dislike all of you, I promise!

1) Can I put in a vote for both Phoenix and Apollo? I love them both so much. They both have this amazing determination to find the truth which I found particularly endearing. Also, I love Phoenix's sarcasm and his courage, but I also got a kick out of Apollo's naivity and enthusiasm. I can't wait to watch Apollo develop over the rest of his arc and get to know him better. I actually always felt Phoenix developed into an ace too quickly in the first game, so I don't mind them developing Apollo's skills more slowly. Feels more realistic that way. If I can't choose both, give my vote to Polly. He needs more love!
2) Okay, I have to say that Trucy kicks ass in my personal opinion and that is including Maya's development over the course of three games. Cute, perky, smart, and she manages to stay out of trouble. I really like Maya, but I have to say her childishness drove me nuts at times. No, it is not acceptable in a 17-19 year old. It's just not. Trucy, while certainly having moments of immaturity (and it drove me less nuts in Trucy because it is simply more acceptable in a fifteen year old), they were less frequent and therefore less annoying. Also, Trucy actually helped to solve the cases, rather then making silly comments that are not useful (or getting in trouble) like Maya.
3) Klavier. Yes, I said it. I really love Edgeworth, but in the first game I only really came to like him from the end of 1-3 on from there. Klavier though, I liked right from the start. He's just a great character.
4) Hard question simply because they're very different characters. I'm going to go with Ema because, while she may have been cranky, she was actually a decent detective. She just doesn't much like her job and considering how much she loves forensics, the grumpiness is understandable. And she brightened up when science was mentioned which I found adorable. Besides, seeing her throw her snacks at Apollo amused me.
5) I love Mia so much (as if you couldn't figure that out from name and avatar)! Anyway, I love both Kristoph and Mia, but Mia wins here, although...

3. Even though Klavier is kawaii, I definately have to say Miles Edgey-worth: like, Miles would do anything to get a guilty verdict and it was much more challenging, and Klavier was just looking for the truth and stuff. BUT I WILL SAY KLAVIER BECAUSE HES JUST SOOO HAWT. I'm not an Edgey-fangirl :].
4. Gumshoe/Scruffy/Whatever: He was like a lost dog, he made me want to hug him a lot. PALpalpalpalpalpalPalPALPALpal. I didn't really like Ema because she was sometimes grumpy and annoying, while Gumshoe is nice, funny, and determined to win the trial :D.
