Story
It is the year 2552.
Humanity has logn been at war with the terrifying alien civilization that collectively calls itself the Covenant. This monstrous conglomerate of warlike species sees Humanity as a form of heresy against their religion -- a faith based in the single minded belief that a Great Journey awaits its faithful.
Unfortunatey for the galaxy, this "Great Journey" must begin with the firing of a series of ring-like weapons scattered throughout space. These vast, terraformed rings are called Halos and have been long-abandoned by their mysterious ancient creators, the Forerunners.
This conflict, terrible and destructive though it is, has been complicated by a series of cascading events. One of thse artificial worlds, these Halos, was discovered and subsequently destroyed by Human forces. Led by the last fighting member of the legendary Spartan II military program, Spartan 117 - the Master Chief, a small band of soldiers managed to defy the Covenant and obliterate the Halo installation.
A clash at the second Halo installation became a galaxy-spanning catalyst for destruction as civil war erupted within the Covenant. Driven by revelations that the Covenant leadership, the Prophets, had been deliberately deceiving its populace for millennia, the Covenant entered into a brief and complex civil war, and formed new alliances within its ranks. The final result of that conflagration was that the Elites now find themselves allied with humanity.
The truth was these Halos would not take the Covenant on a Great Journey, but rather eradicate all sentient life in the Galaxy. The cataclysmic structures were built by the ancient Forerunners as a last resort defense against the most terrifying menace the Galaxy has ever known -- a menace the deluded Covenant has reawakened for th second time in a hundred thousand years.
That horror is the Flood, a sentient all-consuming parasite that makes monstrous puppets of those it kills. The Flood will not stop until every last thinking creature is absorbed into its ferociously intelligent plan.
Now, the second Halo has been activated, putting all of the remaining installations in a dangerous state of emergency standby -- they are primed to fire.
Worse still, the Covenant has discovered the long-hidden location of Earth. They have crushed almost all human resistance as they seek vital clues to the nature of the Halo array -- some of which may have been hidden under our very feet for untold millennia.
Even with our newfound allies, the Elites, and their valiant and honorable leader, the Arbiter, we are still hopelessly outnumbered and at the mercy of the Prophets, and the single minded force of the Flood.
With all time running out, all hopes for the Galaxy lie in the hands of one soldier, Spartan 117 - the Master Chief.

M6D Pistol
The M6D Pistol is a typical UNSC sidearm. It fires high explosive bullets with a relatively fast rate of fire and good accuracy.

Winkey's gonna get the hating from Jadius. Although, I have to say I'm growing higher and higher hopes for Halo 3. I'm not hyping it by any means, but it looks like it'll be be a major improvement over the last two rather mediocre games.

I never got interest in Halo, perhaps it's my lack of Xbox (although one of my friends got one and we played Halo 2. I found it... well, lackluster, as most, if not all, console FPSes... and most FPSes in general).

Are you kidding? If you had the pistol in Halo 1, you were set. Add in the fact that it's a default starting weapon, and you didn't really have to get any other weapons, except maybe the sniper rifle. At least you actually had to find good weapons in Halo 2.

The pistol in Halo 1 was a very fair weapon. Especially on the PC, where most players are inexperienced gamers who only have the intelligence to fly around in a banshee, nuking things. In Halo 2, find two needlers and you've won.

As for the energy sword, sure - it's cool. It doesn't make you l33t online though. It's an unfair weapon if used all the time. However, I see little wrong with matches where you all must look for the energy sword. Like a mini juggernaut game.

And true that - it's annoying if you're playing in a small map like Wizard. But create your own games for others to join if you want to avoid that. One without banshees, pistols, rocket launchers and fuel rod cannons. 
I do love flame throwers though.
