I had known about the GBA Gyakuten Saiban games way before there was even talk of a DS release, but only really in a "You play as some guy called Naruhudou Ryuiichi and you are a lawyer" sense. I did some more reading up on the games prior to the game's release, then I got some guy from the US to buy it and ship it to me.

Shortly after the DS came out I heard about a game for it where you were a lawyer defending clients. The premise alone got me interested so I made it a point to buy it once I got my DS (along with Trace Memory and Trauma Center). Once I actually played it, the game turned out to be even better than I could have imagined.

So I'm a AA/GS fan for life now.

I saw a trailer for it and I was hooked by the OBJECTION! I saw it and laughed. Ever since i was always intrested in trying the series but i could never find it. Around xmas of 06 i found 1 copy at gamestop and bought it instantly. Ever since I was obsessed with the game. I then learned JFA wa coming out and bought it like 2nd or 3rd day. Since then some friends borrowed them and now I have like 5 more people loveing the series for the story and great characters.

I actually heard of PW way before the DS came out. I was checking out the list of future DS games, and "Objective Court DS" by Capcom caught my eye. Fast forward to E3 2005, the Phoenix Wright trailer is played over and over in my computer. Then, when the game is release I don't buy it, but I decide to ask for it for Christmas. The problem? Can't find it anywhere! So I get my parents to order it (from Amazon) and, after being adicted by Osu! Takei! Ouendan! for a while, PW takes over and the rest is history.

Nintendo Power. One of their issues came with a DVD with trailers on new games comming out for the Holidays. (Including the first trailer for Zelda:Twilight Princess.) Anyway, that's when I first saw Phoenix Wright and I was all like "Wow this is so cool! It must be from some anime..." *shot* Beef

Well, when I was planning on getting a Nintendo DS Lite, one of my close friends highly suggested Phoenix Wright. I was a bit skeptical about it because it looked boring, but I was immediately sucked into the game. I can't say it's hard for me to be get into things easily, because I don't have many interests in anything. But if I do get into something, I become obsessed.

Plus, Phoenix Wright art helped me improved or influence on my anatomy drawing skills. :]

Someone at the Videogame Recaps forums was using a Phoenix Wright avatar (if you've seen one where Edgey goes Your Mom, then Phoenix goes No Your Mom, it's that one). Then at AWA, someone cosplayed as Phoenix. Then I went around reading some fanfic. Then I acually found the game. The rest is history.

One of my friends kept doing desk slams and saying "objection" at me and continously told me to get Phoenix Wright even though I dont have a DS. But I went to his house one day and played the first case and got HOOKED. So I borrowed a DS from another friend borrowed the game from my first friend and here we are today one day after beating JFA.

I first knew about the series when I heard about it's original name (Gyakuten Saiban) being changed to "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" outside of Japan off of IGN and scoffed at the idea of a game about a lawyer and courtroom drama. When it came out, I saw the game at GameStop, picked it up to look at the back of the box and put it back still having the same nonchalant attitude. It slipped outta my radar at that point. By March the next year, I picked up on the cult following, the game's rarity, and the surprisingly good reviews of the game (mostly on the game's sense of humor in the writing). To find out what the fuss was all about I watched both the E3 '05 trailer and the TGS '05 GS:YG trailer (the one with voice acting) and from that point I knew I had to have the game!! Since it was out of print at the time, of course all the stores, online and local, had it out of stock. I did see Trauma Center, which also was a rarity (not as much as PW) and received the same cult following and surprisingly good reviews, but picking that game up and playing it made me want PW more than ever. About a few days later, I was lucky enough to bump into somebody at the local arcade who had both his DS and the game with him. After exclaiming to him about how much I've been looking for and wanting to play the game, he lets me try the first case out. The game hooked me like a drug addict Yanni Yogi ! I couldn't believe that I missed out on this game the first time around due to my ignorance. When I got finished I almost didn't want to give the game back. Mid-May rolled in and I still didn't have my own copy of the game; it was still out of stock everywhere. That was until I remembered one online store that was guaranteed to have it-Toys 'n Joys. They had it in stock, I bought it, it was delivered to me the following week, and I stayed up past midnight every night to complete each and every case!! From that point on I was so much a fan of Phoenix Wright that it was my debut cosplay Phoenix (second cosplay costume) at Otakon that year.

The rest, as they say, is history.

In late 2001/early 2002, I was reading a video game magazine and the the import section had a small article for the first Gyakuten Saiban for GBA. I really liked the premise of the game and the art style, but it wasn't being released in North America so I just considered it another interesting game I'll never get to play. I tried playing the demo of the first case on the official Japanese web site. The opening cinematic really grabbed my attention. I fumbled through the first couple mintues, but not knowing any Japanese hindered the experience.

Over the next few years, I would periodically see news about the Gyakuten Saiban series on the internet, still very interested in it but with no means of playing it. By the time Gyakuten Saiban 3 was released, I was really depressed that Capcom hadn't taken the opportunity to release these games in North America and beyond.

Cut to a several months later when Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney was announced for the DS. I was very excited to actually get the chance to play the game I heard about 4+ years ago. I picked it up on release day (the stores in my area got very few copies so I had to search around a bit) and was hooked from the very first case.

Seriously? I got a DS around the time the first one came out, but I just thought it looked stupid, so I never got it.

Fast forward to about 4-5 weeks ago, my brother's girlfriend got a DS, and I know that she enjoys any sort of game that contains puzzles and any sort of test of wits. I remember seeing the TGS gameshow video, and thinking "Oh yeah, she might like that game." So, I bought PW2 thinking "I guess if I hate it, she'll probly like it..." Well anyways. I got it on a Sunday night, and beat it like at 6 AM on Thursday. I made it to class late almost every day that week.

When I heard about the game I searched YouTube for trailers or gameplays, and used the GameFaqs to see the history... I got curious and played the GBA version with the script of the first game open. Only now I will have a DS and the games to shout Objection =P

Around a year ago, I heard about this quirky lawyer "simulator"(not the best word to pick, fortunately) in an Italian forum I used to be a lurker in. I decided to give it a go and imported a copy of the American version...I've been addicted to the series ever since, especially because of its characters and character design(which I mind a LOT in games), and, of course, its nature torn between humor and drama.

As for me, I can't think of a more interesting recipe.

My story isn't that interesting. Around November 2006, I just happened to see it on Gamefly, and because of all the hype about it, I went ahead and got it. Needless to say I was hooked.

I think I've told my story before, but I still think it's funny.

Yaoi got me into it XD

People kept posting Phoenix yaoi on the internet, and I just went "Oh hay, I've gotta get this game for the hot characters"

Then a little while after I found the yaoi, I saw a review on X-Play, and it sounded like the perfect game for me. It's the reason I even got a DS.

My mom got it for me for Christmas two years ago. Fortunately she heard me talking about it and figured it was something I really wanted. I still keep hearing about how hard she had to look for it.

I found Court Records because of Y!Gallery XD

YEs, Yaoi agian. I was bored, so I went into one of the chatrooms, and Pirotess was there, we talked, she saw I was a fan, and demanded I come check this place out.

Ahh, that was so long ago...Memorrieeees

Everything started with the Remote Island Syndrome episode of The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi Larry
After that my sister showed me some comparision pictures of the SuzuHaru and GS characters that she found in an anime forum and thereon I watched the GS TGS trailer on youtube.
I can still remember that I found it totally hillarious Edgy
Some months later my other sister has gotten hold of the US-version of the game,
which a friend had imported and my expression was: Ack

One day while viewing a Gamestop at the mall my cousin, a friend, and I were looking for good games to buy. My cuz notices the single store copy of PW on a shelf and tells me to buy it just cause it looks interesting. I was reluctant but bought it out of sheer curiosity.

Needless to say, it was the best curiosity choice I ever made.

I learned about the series long before I got into the series. I think I saw like a small preview in Game Informer and went "Okay, Lawyer Sim. DS? Don't care." At the time I had a GBA and wanted a PSP and at this point I still don't have a DS, but I borrow my friends Edgy . After that I saw the trailer and thought "Eh." After that I saw the reveiw for it on X-play 4/5 and then the reveiw in GI 7.75/10. Yet it wasn't until Ashford Pride released Phoenix Wrong 3 on Newgrounds, I hadn't seen the first two. I have something where when I see a parody of something, I get into the original: when I sae Yu-Gi-Oh the abridged series I got back into Yu-Gi-Oh, when I saw Parody Rangers, I got back into Power Rangers. As you can see that's what got me here.

I first heard about Phoenix Wright/Gyakuten Saiban from a commercial from G4. When I saw it, I was all like "LOLZ, LAWYER GAME." After that I pretty much forgot about it, until my friend showed me the Objection! generator. After that, I got so into it and ended up looking up the game and eventually found this site. When I finally did get a DS, it was the first game I picked up.

I heard one or 2 people mention it a couple of times on another forum. I got a supercard at the beginning of 2006 and put a bunch of games on it, including Phoenix Wright. I still didn't know too much about it. It was more like one of those games that seem interesting, but you have other ones you wanna finish first. One day I was at a friends house with some of my friends and I showed them my new toy. One of my friends asked to try Phoenix Wright so I let him have a go with it. He played for about 2 hours laughing at all the right spots and praising it. I asked if I could play. Never again have I played a game for so long without taking a rest. I played from 10:00 PM to 5:30 AM. Needless to say I was hooked.

My cousin lost some of my games and in return, his dad offered to purchase 2 games for me. I went to Gamestop with my dad and we picked up Mario Kart DS. I've heard Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney was a rare game so I thought to myself "What the hey, I'll get it so I can sell it for a profit". Picked it up too. I don't remember sleeping that night

Nintendo Power. I thought it was pretty cool, but I never really intended to buy it.

Then I saw it all over the internet. OBJECTION! meme, Phoenix Wrong, members at forums I go to talking about it, etc...I even came across here more than once, and found the characters really cool. I decided if I ever found it, I'd buy it.

but I never found it. then I had to move. then I still didn't find it.

then my friend, back where I used to live, said the gamestop over there ALWAYS had them now...xDDD

SO HE BOUGHT IT FOR ME. AND MAILED IT.

I mailed him back a check. XD

and I kinda got hooked instantly. THE END.

Basically, my netfriend Kneaz borrowed it from her RL friend Kevin and got addicted, then recommended it to me, so I ordered it online for the plane trip to China.

One very long trip and a DS later I was on case 4 and subsequently also got addicted~ Ordered the Japanese version of JFA off the web and finished that shortly too, impatiently waiting for 3 now. :D While waiting I've also lent my DS and PW to other friends of mine, who were instantly hooked. <3

For me, it all started with the famed Objection! generator. Then I saw the Haruhi spoof, then I found Court Records, then I saw the subtitled TGS trailer of GS:YG, then (since I didn't have a flash card) I searched out the first PW. Having no luck, I preordered PW:AA, and here is where I am now. Both a fan of the series and Toccata and Fugue.

I first tripped on this lovely game accidently. After a first glance I looked at it and read about it, until I decided "I want this game". Of course being the poor loser I am I couldn't afford it. So of course I did nothing. Looking around I saw something about translating GS3. I downloaded the translation of it's first case.

OMG! Spoilers!... Not really. The first case of the third did nothing to truely spoil me, it did tell me a couple of things i already knew though. I loved every minute of it... except when I had no idea what I was supposed to show to prove this and that, it was fun though.

So I had a taste of the Gyakuten Saiban series, but was i satisfied? Absoloutly not. When it was shown my dad owed me a gift I looked for the game. Many head banging later I decided to just import it via play-asia and that was that.

Well, I got it for Christmas in 200...5? I think? Maybe? I never had a head for details. Anyway, my parents randomly got it for me for Christmas on a whim, since my mother thought my Dad had gotten me something for my stocking and my dad had been under the impression my mother had done so. So apperantly on Christmas Eve they were at Target searching the video game aisle frantically, spotted Phoenix's intense-looking face on the box, and said "Well she likes murder mysteries, right? RIGHT?"

So of course when I got it I was like "Um...okay?" And figured it would be semi-amusing but 96% a waste of time.

Hah. Wrong. So, so very wrong.

The End. *bows*

I read about it in Nintendo Power before it was released, decided that it sounded pretty neat, and resolved to pick it (and Trauma Center) up whenever I got around to buying a DS.

Ages later, I was reminded (through the parody in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, I believe) that, oh yeah, there's this awesome-sounding lawyer game out. I promptly researched the game a bit more, and actually became familiar with the plot and characters before playing it (I even read a few fanfics). I became a huge fan even before I played, so of course I had to actually get it at the next possible opportunity, which happened to be my birthday. At that time, domestic copies were hard to track down, so I just imported. Incidentally, I had a vacation coming up, so I had great entertainment on the trip (the vacation sucked; PW was easily the best part). Phoenix Wright also sparked my interest in text adventures (although I haven't played very many) and reminded me why I enjoy playing unusual games.

I actually haven't gotten Trauma Center yet. Payne
