I'm curious as to how many votes attributed to both Gant and Phoenix ended up coming from zero-post dummy accounts created simply to stack the odds in favor of one or the other.
The election seemed far too close to be real...Then again... our real presidential elections lately have been very similar to this.
So who knows.

That's not really possible or even a good idea. Personally I don't think people with zero posts should be allowed to vote, but even then it could be considered unfair, honestly.
Now if you have zero posts AND your account was created within the scope of this poll (or the last one), that's a big red flag in my opinion.
Regardless, there's no way to tell what would happen if those particular votes (if any exist) were eliminated. It might mean Phoenix would win, but it could just as easily mean Gant would have a 90% majority. There's simply no way to tell unless the admins painstakingly go through each and every vote.
But... I'm curious enough to ask if they're willing to do such a thing.

The other option would be to rig the board up so you had a particular post count or above... which is a bit unreasonable, considering you could either spam your way to voting, or block out legitimate members, we do have our lurkers mind you.
Besides, there's no real way to verify the votes. The forums give us a log of who voted for what (as in their ID number), in what topic and the IP address, if you were a guest and you voted then you'd get a nice cookie so you'd be blocked the second time you went to vote.
There's almost 200 votes. To do a background check we'd get get a log of all the voter IDs then have to verify them against the User accounts, then check if that account was registered in the past 2 or so days.
Waaaaaaaay too much work for this size project. And It wouldn't even be worth it for a small poll either.

If it's okay for me to still post here, then allow me to say this: bummer. I honestly still feel as if Phoenix would be a better fit; Gant just can't be taken in as honestly. Still, he will be a good run if character alone is what is searched for: Damon's still a good villain.
I only wish that I had heard of this earlier; that way I could have spoken earlier and maybe have finished that debate with Wooster. Although now this gives me the chance for a lame smily sketch from this:

Remember, we need to focus on candidates that we can come up with the most original and funny campaign points for. I feel like Gant/Manny would end up sounding a little redundant, and I don't think that Lana's personality lends itself to this project very well.

That is why I was thinking maybe someone who gets along with Gant but is nothing like him would work...someone like good ole Udgey
Problem is, while his senility is hilarious (the man couldn't find his teeth when they were in his mouth!) I'm not sure if he can be marketed as well...there's so few sprites for him and only a few official art drawings it seems...but he does have the awesome 2-1 Introduction that we could market somehow.
I think it would be funny to have
as well just because Gant could make the claim that he is a friend of the handicapped. For bizarre comedy...perhaps Shoe and Polly could work...

As Wooster said, this is a 'contest' to approve Gant as president - for the Capcom team. NOT the fans. Chosing Phoenix would marely make them say 'wow, he is as stupid and not-president like as all these other charracters, let us just go with Haggar, he's special'.
Gant is equally special, if not moreso.
