The prospect of having a game where I play as Edgeworth makes me dance inside.
However, I can't help but think it'll be kinda... strange. I mean, looking at the pictures above, the gameplay looks very different. My first thought was actually 'What the hell? Why can you see Edgeworth?'
I'm not saying it'll be bad, it'll just take some getting used to.

Yes, it's definately the New Gyakuten Not Saiban.
At the moment there doesn't seem to be any kind of court phase... which would make sense, really. If you spend your time as Edgeworth and Gumshoe handling the scene, you have to decide who is guilty before even stepping foot in court. Unlike Phoenix gets to do in the AA games, Edgeworth doesn't have the option to just change who he's prosecuting mid-trial, so from a gameplay point of view the case is over once he and Gumshoe have their man. It wouldn't be worth it to have a trial section if you go into it knowing already who's guilty and that you're going to win.
Which is why I and others have argued against prosecuter-based games in the past, but... looks like Capcom's doing it anyway!

Of course, there's no doubt the lack of court scenes will impede on the gameplay. But come on, it's a game with EDGEWORTH and GUMSHOE as the heroes. It would take some serious incompetence to mess up a game with that cast.

That's a really good point. I still would have liked to have seen trials involved in the gameplay if only to be able to see Edgeworth convict a group of deviants that actually deserve it, especially if the DA involved wasn't as, em, righteous as Mia/Nick/Polly; but from a gameplay standpoint it probably would get really old/boring to proceed through a trial that you know you're going to win. Nevermind that Udgey almost always seems to be on your side as soon as the trial starts.
