Well, I guess the official English name is "Hayate the Combat Butler"...
It's a hilarious anime that started just recently in JP.
Though, the manga is being translated into english. I just saw vol2 the other day...

Hayate no Gotoku is probably my current favorite manga and anime, second only to (manga wise) Kekkaishi and Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. (At most it's my favorite comedy.) The writing is sharp, the parodies are good and range from obscure to timely, the art is simplistic and expressive and the plot and characters are likeable and paced well. (No sudden jumps in character attitudes.)

The anime is being animated by a newcomer to the field, and I'm pretty impressed.

Personally this here is my favorite scene in the OP, and the anime right now:

I will give moderate respect points to the first person who can name all THREE shadowy figures.

While you all guess,

I am kind of suprised that the anime is jumping around in the timeline; I wonder if that means that Hayate's anime will only be 25-6 episodes long, or continue on.

Nope, you're way off. You're kind of right about the shape, though.

The anime has a LOT more references than the manga does, though. It's kind of fun to watch it and pick up on all of them; I get the feeling that the animators are really big anime fans; that might sound weird, but what I'm saying is they really love the medium. It makes it more enjoyable to see how they work in all of the gags while not messing up the storyline.

The third one you guys are screwing up with looks like Tetsujin-nijūhachi-gō, but I think that's not it. Anyways, I'm pretty sure I know what the other two are, but I'm gonna check more pictures because I don't want to look lame in the face of the mighty Kenji.

Mazinger Z and Tetsujin-nijūhachi-gō are what I believe the left and right one are.. but the middle one I'm still stumped on. I guess no points for me. I'm pretty sure I'm wrong anyways, as they don't match up close enough. Whatever the correct answer is, I know I'll be hitting myself for not realizing.

If you're going the pirate route for the manga, Musashi Quality is up to around vol. 6 or 7; they're doing a really good job too.
