Then we could get some back story for some of the trials. What happened after and stuff like that.

Do you really want to repeat a bunch of cases for the game?

Not repeating, seeing the trial tat comes after. I still think they get a trial to get their sentence.

I think the Hallelujah Chorus played in my head when I read about this game.

I hope there's some sort of trial segments in this game, but it should be awesome regardless. I will play this game, even if I have to learn Japanese to do it.

Hey, if this is early in the series, timewise, then...

Wouldn't Prosecutor Manfred von Karma be the mentor?

if you think about it,
if the prosecutor proves them guilty then what?
the game will no longer be the same defense attorney trying to help someone who was framed,
but will be to help the wrong person.
idk sounds cool.

Er - I think there's a misconception there. No, even as a prosecutor you don't have to know who's guilty. Just because some of our AA prosecutors have been assholes who knew, it doesn't mean you always will.

Sorry for the double post but I just had a thought:

What if the game took place during the time Edgeworth was practicing law abroad?
It'd be between games 2 and 3 I think, and that way we know what he's been up to.

I dunno if I'd want to play as Edgeworth Abroad anyway, though the gap filler would be nice I guess.

Am I the only one who thinks this looks like the lamest thing ever? You guys can't be that big fanboys that you will think anything looks awesome as long as it has something to do about Ace Attorney, no matter how lame it looks.

It's like, I'm a fan of Linkin Park, but I still didn't buy that last CD, because it sucks.

Anyway, my point: This looks lame.

I beg to differ. The point-and-click genre has been very well-done in the past -- just look as LucasArts classics like Sam and Max, Monkey Island and Maniac Mansion -- and there's no reason a Gyakuten Saiban game in that style couldn't be just as good, if not better. In fact, a point-and-click GS title might add more gameplay to the complex plots the series is celebrated for. Speaking of the plots, this game will probably add significant details to the series' ever-growing universe, something which I believe every fan appreciates.

Plus it has Edgeworth and Gumshoe. How can it go wrong with that?

I can't belive you are actually comparing this to Monkey Island. Gah.

Anyway, the whole consept of this game is like taking the worst part of the previous games (investigation, duh), and give it it's own game, thus excluding what made the other games own so much.

But seriously, this game is about a prosecutor, who investigates, and you don't get to actually prosecute? Have I understood that correctly? How is that even going to work?

What makes this so different? They're both point-and-click adventure games, and the GS series, like Monkey Island, is known for its humor.

While I agree that the investigation phase of GS is generally weaker than the trial segments, this game doesn't use the same investigation system as the others. Point-and-click adventures can be much more action-oriented than visual novels. I think a point-and-click system of investigation would open up new possibilities for the series.

We actually don't know a hell of a lot about how it'll be done, if there will be trails, if Edgeworth might actually be able to be hurt or attacked in the game (It does mention his sprite will change if he's running in a panic for example, and I can't imagine Him Panicking unless someone was trying to kill him...or rape him in the case of Wendy Oldbag.)

It's too early to have such biased opinions Lars Enaahl, Here's a thought, Remember Resident Evil 4? Now, they reworked a tried and true System there to make the game almost toitally different, something that could have ended in massive failure, however, many many people felt it was the best Resident Evil to date, and it was selected as game of the year by several places that year.

However, before it was released, there were no doubt Naysayers like yourself who, upon learning the most basic concept of it (It's going to have Leon as the star and be more action oriented) would say "Man this is going to SUCK so hard."

My point? You don't have enough information to make a case against this game yet, none of us do. All we have right now, is the knowledge it's in the works, and it will be point and click, other than that, Ziltch.

Don't take offense to me, I'm just saying it's a little too soon to be saying it'll be the worst game in the series.

I WANT! x3 I don't care how much nay-saying goes on! If there is a spin-off to a game that I really, really like, I get it! ESPECIALLY if it surrounds a character that I really like, and Edgeworth is one of my fave characters in the series. :edgy:

You got a point. Still, I was just saying that we shouldn't think this game is good just because it's a spin off of a series we happen to be fans off. As in, the game looks lame to me, so it will have to prove to be a good game on it's own, it can't just live on being a spin off.

One thing I will say though: gief GS5 instead of this.

I agree that the game needs to be able to stand up on it's own, but, I agree with Root beer Junkie up there, if the same staff is making this that made the first four games, I think it'll be just as fun, it at least deserves enough respect that I'm not going to judge it not worthy of existence yet with what little I know about it.

He looks for overlooked evidence IN the dolphin, and oldbag is shocked, how Edgeworth is pulling out the dolphin from the water and cutting it open to retrieve the evidence the dolphin had eaten.

Yep, defenitly it.

It's actually being done by a different team, while the normal Gyakuten Saiban staff is currently... doing something else that we don't know about yet.

IZ is right - it's not the original team. Of three staff heads we know about, Iwamoto (the designer) worked on GS2, and has been doing group art for quite a while. But Yamazaki only joined the team with Rise From the Ashes, and the director...whose name escapes me...hasn't directed a GS game before. The original creator, Takumi, is not in charge of this spin off.

Which doesn't mean that the game will be bad or anything. They obviously have the support of the rest of the team. But it's likely there will be a noticible differences in style and such.

Hmm, I do hope that it has the same Heartwarming Drama/humor mix though.

I wonder if the localization team will be different or not?

:edgeworth: Alright so Wright got a spirit medium and a forensic junkie, and that Apollo kid got a magician. I hope Capcom isn't planning on setting me up with some freaky female sidekick.

:sadshoe: Um well actually sir... You better take a look at this...

:edgeworth: WHAAAAAAAAT?! Just who is this woman? Why's a key in her hair? Is she supposed to be some kinda samurai or ninja?

:sadshoe: Sorry sir it seems like she's going to be in the game with us.

:edgeworth: You've GOT to be kidding me. That's it I'm calling my agent about this. Capcom won't live this one down or my name isn't Reiji Mitserugi... er I mean Miles Edgeworth... I mean.... WHATEVER! ::stomps out of the room::
