Okay so, I know it might be a little early to be speculating on this BUT. Considering that, with the fact that you can walk around and talk to NPCs who are standing around in places, it's doubtful that PP will be as linear as the other entries in the Gyakuten Saiban series, right?

So, this makes me wonder.

Does anyone else think that sidequests that don't really have a bearing on the cases but involve a silly overarching miniplot and/or give hints to characters and plot points in GS5 would be really awesome? I think it would be a fun way to get people hyped up for GS5 and stuff 8D 8D 8D And besides, I loooove sidequests in RPGs. The only downside I can think of is that there wouldn't really be a reward for them, but as long as they were fun I think that would be reward enough, right?

Sidequests that reveal informative and intriguing but relatively useless-to-the-main-gameplay details would be made of very much win.

:wendy: Oh Edgey-Poo! I have this vital piece of evidence here! All you gotta do is water my lawn, do the dishes, vacuum the house, and fetch me my pills at the pharmacy.

:edgeworth: Detective... you know what to do.

:sadshoe: On it sir. I'll go fetch the hose.

Seriously, I don't think sidequests would be TOO bad, just as long as they don't make them take too long or make them too over the top. That would seriously suck.

I'd think having lots and lots of dead ends would improve the gameplay and make it appear unliniar. I mean, normally investigators should have extensive ammounts of leads and clues that arn't really significant. I mean, in 3-1, Payne threw an important evidence into the 'unimportant evidence bin' thinking it was unrelated.

Such a system would very much so improve the standard Ace Attorney standard, but for a game of this construction, it should be easier to execute.

if the side quest means collecting evidence as many as possible, I'm in it! :jazzron: I've always thought AA games are too hint-ful, almost all the evidence would be used.

Or whatever the developers come out with, as long as it's good :redd:

Still doesn't hurt to imagine, yeah?

Anyway, I took a look at the trailer a few more times and I couldn't figure something out...

There is a bellboy in the zooming-in scene of the trailer. Now, if we recall, there were two people in bellboy outfits in the series: the bellboy introduced in Case 1-2, or Mr. Shelly de Killer. I can't figure it out!!

Back on topic...

:edgeworth: Okay. Now we just need one piece of evidence for a guaranteed conviction... and it's in the files of this computer...

I hope they have these fun little mini-games like at the berry big circus(example only) you get to do a ring toss game or use the touch screen to walk on a tightrope (that would be fairly enjoyable)

That's pretty damn hard to do in a storyline compelled game as this.

I mean, if it's worthwhile, it can't be done with a 'sidequest', as it would essentially mean that it's needed in the plot.

Unless there are several diffrent ways to find the truth. Which, I think, WOULD be a good idea. But than the idea of sidequest is kind of lost.

It'd be nice to find out important parts of cases via sidequests, like with your three clients in 4-2.

See how many times you can catch Gumshoe goofing off, every time you catch him goofing off, you lower his wage! The lower the wage, the better you are at the game!

There ought to be a sequence where you have Edgeworth and Gumshoe investigating a crime that has garnered a lot of media attention. Meanwhile, there's another murder case that no-one seems to care about. Who will step up to the plate of investigating this low-publicity crime while our regular heroes are busy? That's right, it's the head detective from the criminal affairs department, with the novelist detective as his assistant! Come on, those guys deserve their day in the limelight, do they not?

And then, at the end, Edgeworth and Gumshoe get their man, and the criminal affairs folks solve their case as well. But because of media circus surrounding Edgworth's case, he and Gumshoe get lavished with attention while no-one cares about the accomplishments of the other guys. But the head detective and his friend don't care - they've brought a killer to justice, that's all that matters.

Um..yeah.

In terms of sidequests that have a plot...no thanks. I actually really like it when, at the end of a PW case, all the things that have been happening tie together in some way. Making some things optional would detract from their value.

I'm a great RPG fan and I can say that the Side-quest are funny, and we can have some sidequest that ends helping in our case, we can have to care a Dog and that dog accidentally finds the real murder weapon of our case for example D=

Spoiler:
Remember Case 2 in Apollo Justice, you started by finding the guy who coiled Phoenix, finding Eldoon's Noodles Stand and Trucy Panties and all of those things finished to be involving with the murder...

Side-quests... hmm... probably wouldn't work in PW format, but who knows with the new style of gameplay. It could work. It does seem interesting to have Edgeworth doing various odd-jobs. XD

Now what they should do for sidequests is borrow a page from Animal Crossing - each successful sidequest, and you get another piece of furniture or wallpaper for Edgy's house. Or a fabulous new outfit. :edgy:

Or if the sidequests are Gumshoe-based, maybe he can finally start earning back some of his lost wages... and the reward dinner at the end of the game reflects how good you were at the minigames or sidequests (meal at Tres Bien or instant noodles again).

I think, if they did have sidequests, they should be for offering extra tidbits of info about the case. Like, you can get your verdict, but there's one thing that seems off. Which means you missed something, and if needed, can go back for a sidequest.

Quote:
:lotta: Edgy have to photos celebrities scandals for her

This could actually be awesome. Edgey gets equipped with a camera, and gets to photograph important things to bring up later.

Perhaps he could even encounter a murderer, and take a photograph to show incriminating evidence against him. But eh.

I would like to see a side-quest regarding on what happened to Godot and how Miles knew about his coffee adiction if he never met him nor Gumshoe told him about him... Well, minor details.
