It was a dark and gloomy night in Tokyo, it was late so all was quiet, except in the house left of Agara street. A boy panted as he wrote in his notebook furiously. He would then maliciously look up at his TV screen, which was tuned into Sakura TV, to see more names and faces of criminals. He would then write their names in the notebook while thinking of their faces. " I will purge the world of such villainous scum!" he exclaimed as he killed a murderous psychopath. After the names were written in the notebook the men had exactly forty seconds to live, before they died of a heart attack. The boy had just finished killing a serial rapist when his chest began to hurt.

" I knew he couldn't be trusted" exclaimed the boy as he fell to the floor violently. His chest felt like it was going to burst, he was going to die. He knew exactly who it was who killed him too. He was almost out of time, ten seconds were gone, the boy quickly grabbed his notebook and began to write the name of the one who killed him. He had written down the first name but then his time was up, his heart had finally given out. His body ceased to draw air, he was now dead. Then a figure entered his room, he moved silently, with only one goal in mind. He reached the boys body and bent down to pick up his notebook the man then said in a taunting voice "sleep tight Light Yagami, Ill be taking your Death Note." Then the man turned dramatically out the door, he was determined to be the new Kira. (Kira=God)

Ok now that everyone has a basic idea of the premise the rules should be up shortly. Depending on how many people we actually have playing, they could change. So just post if you want to actually play so that I can get a basic estimate, if not I will just assume like 10 even though the rules shouldn't change drastically if more come. But until I figure everything out please post a name for you to use in the Role Play.

Her name is Alice. Her real name is a secret, unless you HAVE to know it. She's one of the many orphans that were brought up at Whammy's to succeed L. I presume this takes place after the series ends. She doesn't think Near does a good enough job of keeping "Kira" in check, so she's stepping in to get the job done herself. She's 17-18 years old. Finally someone joined! and yes it does take place after the series considering the prologue. Ok now to post the rules. You can sign in and play as long as you name your character and give a brief summary of your characters history. All other rules need to follow the Role Play rules posted on this sight. So heres how its going to go down, their are four different classes. Potential Kira's (could hold the Death Note eventually when the New Kira is caught). Police officers (Any of L's apprentices or relations fall into this category as well as normal police officers). Shinigami (Death Gods that eventually give away their notebook when you get the green light in the Role play). And Criminals (Criminals may also eventually hold the notebook but kill for more selfish reasons unlike the potential Kira class). I also ask that no one post less than a paragraph. Also do not use characters names from the series as your own, you may reference them while writing but do not name your original character from someone in the existing show. Also, as of right now no one knows that they have the Death Note, thats part of the fun. I will PM someone to tell them that they have the Death Note when the time arises, as of now just post in character. Thats all, have fun!

After a thousand years of watching the same thing, Ningen has decided to go down the the human world. He wanted to go out of boredom and sensed that a human was becoming quite powerful. He went to find this human and to entertain himself. The problem was, the human did not posses Ningen's Death Note so Ningen can not sense him. Therefor Ningen will have to find him on foot. Its already been made public that the Death Notes have returned. Therefore the human will not be able to move around easily with the Note book, since the police already know of its existence.

This is mostly due to the fact that Zero is borderline narcoleptic. Not that he's tired all of the time... he just doesn't care. Basically, if he finds something boring he'll just fall asleep. Lately however he's taken an interest in the Kira case.

History: Grew up normally in Liverpool, england, around the age of 14 something happened to him that affected him deeply, no-one still alive except him know what it was. But it also gave him a large mental leap, he suddenly became more aware, hard-working and focused. He joined the police at 21, made CID (detective) at 25, and then again, something happened, he tortured and murdered an (unknown to him) mafia member. An extremely strange thing for him to do due to his religious nature, but thought to be related to his childhood. Because of this, his friends in the force helped him destroy every record of his real name and profile to escape the vengeful mafia. All official and unofficial records where destroyed or modified. Everyone who knew in the police were killed by the mafia (after interrogation of course) and all of the mafia family were 'supposedly' killed by 'Kira' in one of the many international killing spree's. With no-one and nothing left for him, he moved to Tokyo Japan to begin a new life as a private detective.

( The Death Note has been given to a potential Kira. I have also made another rule since most of you are intelligently hiding your names. If the Death Note holder has to really kill one of you, like if you get to close to finding out who the notebook holder really is, that person can make the Shinigami eye deal now. The Shinigami eye deal is a little bit different here than in the series. If you make the Shinigami eye deal here, you have the power to kill one person without a name, once you kill that person you will lose the Death Note for an extended period of time and a new potential kira will get it. Also if you should happen to die you may make a new character since I expect some of you to die. Anyway heres the first death of a criminal.)

Sakura TV came on during its usual time, but the newscaster and something unusual to say this time. They looked depressed. Finally the women newscaster spoke.
"Today a convicted criminal by the name of Terry Fawless (no relation to PW) died today. Terry had been convicted as a serial killer who had claimed six victims. But thats not the real news. The reason why we have reported this is because of the way he died. All of you still remember the Kira case that happened three months ago. The killings had been carried out by giving the victims a sever heart attack, the killer could kill from a distance, and no one knew how. Then three months ago the killings just stopped, well today Terry Fawless has died of a heart attack,we believe Kira has finally resurfaced and is making up for missed time. If you have any information on Kira our operators are standing by, just call 1-800-stop-kira. Join us as we keep you informed on the latest kira killings. We now must go to commercial."

As the cameraman signaled the cut to commercial, the female newscaster breathed a sigh of relief and made her way to her dressing room, cutting across the now buzzing room she quickly entered her room. She stepped forward and looked at herself in the mirror.

"That was an interesting report"

Alarmed she span around and saw the source of the unexpected comment. There, sat in the corner of her private dressing room was a strange man dressed in a coat and suit.

"Who the hell are you and how did you get in here?"

Smiling to himself the man got up and walked towards her.

"Tell me everything you know about this 'kira' guy."

She scowled and grumbled at him.

"Get out before I call security"

The man stepped closer again.

"If you do that I might have to call your husband, it'd really be a shame if he found out about the affiar"

"How do you kn-" The visibly shocked woman began before being cut off.
"You can learn a lot about people if you pay attention, for example, the way you and that camera man look at each other, the fact that this whole station shuts down about... 4 hours before you arrive home, but you only live 20 minutes away... you tell you're husband you've been working all that time. and considering the cameraman gives you a ride home almost every day-"#

"Alright enough!" She cried, visibly shaken, she stepped back and submitted to the strange man.

"Kira was a serial killer who killed criminals by hear attack durin-"

"Oh don't feed me the common knowledge bollocks, you work for one of the most prestigious channels in Japan, you had some suspicious activities going on around the time Kira operated, everyone knows the basics, I want what the public never heard about, and you know that. Now cut the bollocks"

'That's it, you have her' he thought to himself, 'you didn't get this far by being nice, finish her off'

"I looked into some of the companys financial records, I see that cameraman also got several suspicious raises around the time he transfered to your slot, do they have 'conflict of interest' in Japan?" The man spoke in a strange accent, foreign sounding but imposing.

"Unless you want to lose your job too, you should start talking"

An hour and a half later, John exited the building, armed with new knowledge of what had happened during the 'Kira killings' he began listing names and places to investigate in his head, he began walking home, he expected the newscasters husband would be waiting for her tonight, and that her boss would be receiving his 'anonymous letter' tomorrow. She had given him all the info he wanted and more, but he had already called her husband and told him about the affair, and mailed the letter to her boss. Smiling again he began to hum as he walked briskly through the street.

"This is going to be fun, I can tell" he muttered to no-one in particular.

Harumi glanced at the T.V. with a mad grin, "He's back!" She called her fellow occult members. She and a group of others stared at the T.V. until a phone call came in on her cell phone.

RRRRRIIIIIINNNNGGG.

"Hello this is Harumi..."

"I'm sorry to say, but we need more people to assemble the task force again."

"Captain?"

"Yes, It seems Kira has returned."

"L is on the case?"

"...Apparently he is somewhat surprised that Kira is back."

"I see."

"Special Investigator Aiga, we need you to go to SakuraTV, and gain any information you can about Kira's sudden reappearence."

"Yes sir."

*CLICK*

"Kira-sama..." She practically pranced out the door, on her way to SakuraTV.

"Kira... huh..."

The woman's face on the t.v. screen fizzed out into black, throwing the already dimly lit room into darkness. Rustling could be heard as a rectangular box, most likely the t.v. remote, landed on the floor with a dull thud. A button was pressed and the sound of machinery starting up filled the room just seconds before yet another screen came to life. The long and generally confusing strings of light blue text on black served as little source for light but the eyes that scanned over them hardly needed it. Spindly hands raced over the keyboard that only they could find hidden in the shadows, entering endless commands of letters and numbers that most people could never even begin to comprehend.

The Kira case... he, as well as the majority of the world, had assumed that case had come to a close. Of course one couldn't assume that Kira had returned based on one or two odd circumstances, but after everything that had happened...

L.

Everyone thought L was going to take up the case again. But he knew the truth.

L was dead. He died trying to catch Kira.

Mello, one of two who were supposed to succeed L, also died for the "cause".

Even Matt whom he had personally respected as a friend and rival hadn't been spared.

And Near... well, he'd never liked Near to begin with.

The point was everyone who tried to catch Kira either died trying or completely failed. The Kira case was a case best left untouched... unless, of course, you wanted to die.

He paused, tilting his head with a thoughtful frown, finger hovering over the "enter" key. This case was dangerous. This case was...

With a click of the enter key the computer screen monitor to life, millions of files and data flooding the screen. The sudden splash of light revealed a cocky and almost crazed smile.

This was a challenge.

A challenge that he had chosen to face.

Ningen, the king of the Shinigami world flew through the brightly lit city of Tokyo. He had just seen the News Report on TV, although he had known that the killing was going to happen hours before it did since the Death Note had come into contact with a new malicious owner. Ningen had heard tales of Ryuk traveling with a boy named Light Yagami. The story ended quiet well. Since Ningen was so bored with the Shinigami world, he decided to have a little adventure of his own. The only problem was he had no idea where the now active Death Note could be. He searched the city looking.
" Go ahead and hide Ive got all the time in the world." Ningen said to himself as he let out a malicious laugh.

(2nd Criminal death)
Alex Tobies sat in the cold courtroom in America. The judge began to recount his crimes.
" Maki Tobies, you are charged with seven accounts of serial rape and one account of murder. How do you plead?" The judge announced before the court
Maki smiled, he knew that his brother was the Chief of Justice and that he would only spend at the most seven years in prison. So he decided he might as well enjoy a short vacation and drag his trial out for as long as he could.
"Not guilty" He pronounced nonchalantly.
"Well then let us begin will you-"
but then the judge was cut off by a bloodcurdling scream from the defendant. Alex Tobies grabbed his chest and struggled to stand up. He soon was on the floor, gasping for air. He wiggled around violently, until he finally ceased to move. It happened in a matter of seconds. The hospital was called, only because it was procedure to do so. But everyone in that courtroom knew that man had no chance. Everyone knew he was dead. And everyone knew it was kira who had passed his judgment. Silently everyone exited the courtroom along with the paramedic's who carried the corpse. This was a very big case, it carried international attention. Everyone knew this guy was just going to get a slap on the wrist so they watched just to see if the judge had something else in mind. But too many what happened was a better ending than Alex Tobies only getting seven years. And once the media outside saw a corpse being carried out of the court house. Kira was finally officially back. Many people celebrated, while many also began to weep for society.

History: Has been studying to be a detective, and has been pretty good at it. He's been studying with his dad, his dad went away to America for reasons. James hacked into his dad's computer and saw all the files kept into his dad's computer, baby pictures, family photos, e-mails and articles. They were all about Kira and what he did to society, James decided to find out why he did this and was confused on which side he needed to be in, Kira's or the society's?
Appearance: Wears a school uniform like Kira's, but in public he wears jeans, a white or dark gree sweater with a white or light green t-shirt over. He has green eyes and black wavy hair going back, you'll know in his stare that he's serious at some times. He has a bracelet with encrypted writing on it, only him and his younger sister can understand it.

John sat back and admired the pile of documents and random clutter on his desk. It was a decent haul for one day.

In the dark dreary apartment the dark brown walls made him feel claustrophobic, but this was all he could afford, he had learned quickly that most Japanese had no jobs for a 'gaijin', let alone ones that compromised there security. The small desk in the corner, his real home, housed a small laptop, a pile of paper documents and numerous cameras and several other pieces of miscellaneous surveillance equipment. On the wall he had stuck numerous news articles and generally all the trivia he could find on 'Kira'.

He still couldn't figure it out.

Leaning back John let his thoughts run wild, all of the possibility's he found confused him. He was missing something, he still didn't know what. He knew that kira had originally killed after school hours, implying he was still in high school, after 'L' had found this out, he changed his times. There's no way he could kill 24/7, he must have some way to schedule someones death... Some sort of delayed poison? No, too many murders too far apart. Airborne toxin? No, he wouldn't be able to target people so specifically...
'
After that 'L' suspected it was someone connected to the police force, and they gradually separated. Thats where the official paper trail stops. Kira held Sakura T.V hostage... To broadcast messages, well, a Kira, there must have been at least two. And the fact they had to contact each other that way... They couldn't have been working together from the start. And for no need for further messages, they must have made contact some other way too. 'L' created his own task force to pursue Kira, so following the story got harder and harder the further it went.

Next big event, Kira's killings started building profit for some company who's name escaped John, neither Kira would have done that... A third Kira? Maybe...

The weapon was the key, however Kira was killing he needed a tool, and that tool kept changing hands or being reproduced... No, if you could make one then more would have it. The weapon was changing hands.

Yotsuba! That was the company's name, there had been a car chase, quite a large incident, John assumed that this was the third Kira being found. After that, everything just fizzled out... Kira didn't stop, in fact, the investigation just seemed to end. For years Kira had free reign. L must have been beaten, no, he wouldn't stop investigating even if he was outwitted, he was dead.

But 'L' was still officially alive, it must have been covered up.

And then it hit him, like lightning. Kira had been connected to the police, and 'L's original team, he had won, and then he must have replaced 'L'

That made sense, "that wasn't so hard now was it?" John said aloud to himself in celebration.

But this is were it got real weird, another 'L' started fighting Kira, and from a building that had mysteriously popped up soon after 'L' separated from the police, must have been his headquarters, whoever made it must have had major resources, and to have a new 'L' take over meant it was a group... So 'L' had an organization behind him, a strong one, that had brought in a replacement too... How strange...

Kira had support then though, an attack happened on the building, so that well ran dry too. The new 'L' must have been beaten too...

'Well shit' he thought to himself. 'So much for help on this'.

He collapsed into his chair resigning, "This is beyond me" he admitted to the wall, as if it had bullied him into this.

But then he saw it, the article out the corner of his eye. The small picture of the dead, red-haired boy with goggles, lying in a puddle of his own blood. He gently leaned forward and took the clipping off the wall, handling it like it was the most valuable thing in the world.

It spoke to him, he had seen the boy before. But where?

'Kidnapper shot dead in Takada abduction'. Takada was Kira's spokeswoman... This definitely had something to do with the death of the last 'L'...

The house! That orphanage he'd ran into just after arriving in Japan, looking for someone long lost son, he had investigated this strange orphanage, the children there were different... Strange, smarter than they should be, he broke in and found the records, thats were he had seen him, in the orphanage he also had found the mans kid, but the kid had been taken into a 'gifted children's' program...

That was it, it all made sense, 'L' must have been one of those kids, the amazing intelligence, the resources, the replacements, the fact he was like a ghost, it all made sense.

This was big, it took all Johns strength to resist shouting out in celebration, he threw all the documents and articles hastily into a small briefcase, he stuffed his laptop in there too for good measure.

He had to find someone, he couldn't take on this alone, the orphanage was a good place to start looking.

As he got to the door it hit him like a ton of bricks. He had forgotten the name of it. "Slammy house? Bammy house?" He could think about it on the way to... Where ever he was heading. All he knew is that he needed allies, fast, smart ones.

Closing the door he wandered into the busy streets of Tokyo, briefcase in hand, coat on back, heart on sleeve.

(Wow everything is going perfect so far. But just a little note, The original L is dead this far and Light became the second kira but the RP introduction told you that the new Kira has killed him. Therefor Near is the new "L" of course your character could still think that the original L is still alive since it was covered up. Just thought I would make that note. Also the current Kira [you know who you are] will have to make a decision soon.)

Ningen continued to fly around the city aimlessly. It was just good to be out of the Shinigami real for once. The city was so alive, of course to the king of death this meant nothing. It was completely pointless to Ningen to care about anything. He was here for one thing and one thing only, entertainment. He carried no emotional attachments to any human. The truth was he was afraid to get any emotional attachments to anybody. The only thing that caring about a human could bring is death to a shinigami. Ningen had seen it time and time before. Then most recent being Rem, a female shinigami. And no shinigami knew what would happen then. Most were to scared to see. So they lived forever, writing peoples names in their Death Note's. Ningen had thought about his own death, and then came to the conclusion that it would never come. He would be around until the end of time.

That conclusion would depress most people, but not someone who loved seeing death. It never got old, when he was in the Shinigami world he would write people names and laugh hysterically when he thought about the kids that would soon be orphans. Ningen was truly evil. Or maybe just bored. He was human once, thousands of years ago. That part of him so over, Ningen can no longer even remember his human name. So you have to have fun with what you have left. And Ningen has the Death Note, and thats it. Maybe thats why he's going to all this trouble in the human world to find one person, he thought as he fluttered a nearby market place.
" Im close, so close." Ningen said with an annoyed tone.

Harumi twirled her hair as she entered the producer's studio of Sakura T.V. The place looked completely hysterical, with employees constantly shouting, "I QUIT!" and ran out the door looking petrified with fear. She smiled as she headed to the office. "Ummm, is the producer here?" A man looked up and sadly turned away.

"Are you here to ask for a job application?" He asked, looking miserable. Harumi looked around the office. Newsapers scattered around the floor, all with "KIRA" in their headlines. Apparently these were from the last incident. Harumi stashed them away in her bag and said, "No, I'm researching Kira for an assignment." She smiled. The producer asked her to leave. However, something caught her eye. A stack of a couple of videos entitled, "KIRA'S MESSAGE" lay in the corner. She pulled out her badge and said politely, "Sorry, but those tapes could be evidence." She took the tapes and the files containing the Kira broadcasts from the station. "Thank you."

"Ok, next stop, Police HQ." She was sure the police had plenty of files left from the last incident. Next minute though, her phone rang. She picked it up.

"Hello Haumi speaking."

"Special Investigator Harumi Aiga?" Harumi didn't know who it was, but she had a pretty good idea.

"L?" There was a large pause on the other end...

"Yes." The voice paused and continued. "I'm welcoming you into the task force for the latest Kira incident."

Harumi smiled immensly. "You sure L?"

L didn't reply, but hung up. A text message appeared saying,

Jake stayed home as he sat all day on the computer, researching articles on Kira and on the Government. What is the Government going to do about Kira... He clicked on a news report, Hmm, nothing here... He hacked into the Police File's, ...The Police have nothing either, He thought, He looked around his room and saw his phone lighting up, he looked at it. Hmm...It must be her, Jake answered, "What do you want?...Hmm?...Hmm, okay, I'll be right there...Hold on a sec," Jake plugged in a port connected to his computer and plugged it into his phone, This call leads to...A hotel? Jake heard the words the person said to meet at, was at the park. Something's definitely wrong...I'm going to the hotel "Okay, I'll be there..." Jake hung up, he printed out the directions to the hotel. Jake grabbed his phone, and ran out, "Umm, where are you going brother?" Jake looked at his little sister, "Oh I'm going out for a bit, don't go into my room please!" Jake ran out of the house, "Oh, Okay!" His little sister yelled as she ate ramen. I'll be able to gain some info on both parties this way...L, he knows a lot of information. He ran toward the hotel sprinting but still keeping his presence unknown, because he knows someone is watching him.

Ever since he was 7 he had been trying to capture Kira by himself, not having any success his luck now has changed now since the Kira killings have sprung up again.

Of all the files and personal recordings and news stories stored on the Sakura Television database it seemed that none of them would serve of any use to him. With a heavy sigh he slumped back on the bed cluttered with countless cds, floppy disks, even stray circuitry. Lazy crimson eyes stayed trained on the computer screen as one of the various surveilance videos taken on the day of the news story played but the young man barely payed attention. Sakura T.V. was useless. But then he shouldn't have expected anything different. After all, they didn't have a very... nice reputation.

Several minutes passed and the so-called "genius" had started to drift off to sleep. Boredom was a fickle mistress, and it seemed as though she was willing to embrace the young boy once again in her warm, dream-like arms.

Until something.. unusual caught his eye.

He couldn't remember ever moving so fast in his life. Before the image on the screen could disappear he sat upright and hit the "pause" button. He stared at the grainy screen.

There. Right there.

A man had entered the news anchor's dressing room.

Unfortunately he didn't have footage from inside the dressing room. Sakura T.V. at least had some modesty and they weren't about to set up cameras in a lady's dressing room. However, whoever this man was... he could tell he didn't belong.

Fastforwarding the tape he saw the woman enter the dressing room. The man was still in there. Then, about an hour so later he left. Several minutes later so did she. Also... she looked rather distraught.

An enemy? Or an ally? Was this man also interested in the Kira case...?

He needed allies. He wasn't stupid. He knew he couldn't do this on his own.

"I see. Alright. I'll play the game."

James quickly ran into the hotel, he asked the clerk who was reading Shojo Beat, "Is there a way that I can access a public computer here?" The clerk blew up a bubble and pointed into a room. James quickly ran there and opened the door but as soon as he touched it, he heard an elevator ding. He looked at it and there he was, James quickly hid inside the room the clerk directed him to. L walked with two police officers and rode in a car, C-Crap! He's going to the Park! James quickly ran he saw a bike outside of the hotel and got it, "H-Hey that's my bike!" The clerk yelled, James cycled his way to the park, I should take a shortcut! James turned to the left and went into the alley, he then jumped off the bike and sprinted his way to the park.

(Sorry I haven't been on today but I had a huge test to study for. Lets get on with it, this event should be very interesting.)

The Sakura TV station was rather shaken up over the recent incidents and also the constant visits by police and sometimes even vigilantes. But ratings were up forty percent and they had no where else to go but up so the board decided to continue to broadcast. And soon the new male newscaster took his place in front of the cameras.
" Hello Japan, my name is Ichigo Naka. As you may already know I am not the normal newscaster but my female correspondent had to leave due to persona issues. *cough*affair*cough*"
The cast room began to chuckled a little at that comment.
"But let us get to the real news, today taxes rose another-"
But the newscaster was then cut off before he could finish the report. His coworker then walked on screen. He then handed Ichigo a white piece of paper and then quickly walked off.
"People of Japan we have breaking news of a crime! A few moments ago an Orphanage by the name of "Whammy house" was raided by a group of armed men. Their is an estimate of fifty armed attackers in the house. They have sent a letter to the outside that they want read aloud over the station, Is it ok if I read it?" he asked waiting for his bosses approval.
His boss nodded very causally.
" I will now read from the letter."
He began
" Japan, we are an organized group of Kira supporters. We have reason to believe that Kira's greatest threats are raised her, we would even go as far as to say that the only thing that stands in Kira's way is raised here. To the ignorant masses out their L, the one that everyone knows nothing about started this house. Its sole purpose was to train a replacement for him if he should die. We have no idea if the original L is still alive or if he has indeed passed, but it doesn't matter we will make sure their will be no more replacements in the future. We all worship Kira and would do anything to keep him alive. With Kira around crime and inhumanity have dropped to an absolute zero. When he vanished we were all so frightened, crime rose back to an all time high. But now that hes back crime is slowly going back to zero and we will let no one stand in Kira's righteous justice. By the time that his letter is read on air it is already to late to stop us. We have already one."
Just then the police raided the station and forced them to stop broadcasting. It truly was madness.
(Alright Kira decision time. These followers pledge to follow you, and will eliminate some of your greatest threats. But they are also going to kill small children and many police officers. Are they right to kill them or wrong. PM me if you want the followers to live or die. That is all.)

Amanda, who'd been idly sitting in her college dorm room, sat up a bit straighter at this latest news bulliten.*

"I wonder what he'll do next," she muttered to herself, waiting for Kira's televised response.

It seemed like a good day, sunny, but with a cool breeze, perfect.

John had made his way to one of the many parks located in one of the... Less desirable part of the city. It was familiar to suspicious activity, so there it wouldn't exactly be shocking to anyone if a strange man was seen digging.

Examining the medium-sized hole he had dug, he decided it would do and threw the small spade away. He then dumped his entire suitcase in the hole. He began piling dirt back on when he remembered it. He pushed aside some of the mud and opened the case again, he took out his tazer. It looked like a gun, but with a fatter barrel, it was set to fire two small needles connected to wires, once the needles hit the target (and stuck of course) you would then pull the second trigger and a high voltage shock would shoot down the wired and into the target, it was more than enough to take down anyone, and had decided that with all the chaos Kira created last time it would be useful to have it with him. He slid it into a under-arm holster and closed his coat to cover it up. He then buried the case and made his way to the train station.



Stepping off the train John headed for the... sammy? wammy? danny? WAMMY HOUSE that was it.

He had gone around so he would come up on it's back entrance rather than the main gate, he would have to go in the same way as last time, and that meant going through the roof. He stopped at the back of the building and took a deep breath, this was the part he hated.



It was dark, and sometimes wet, and it was one of the stuffiest places he'd ever been, but he tried not to think about that part. John felt his was through the dark tunnel waiting for the softer ground.

Then he felt it.

He found the corners of the soft square and lifted it up, the tile rose effortlessly and he pushed it to the side, then dropped down into the light.

There was a loud splash as he landed in shit.

One foot in the toilet, John tried to regain his balance by leaning on the cubicle door, unluckily, the door was open and he fell forward with a crash. He looked up and examined the rest of the wammy house toilets. Extremely clean, and yet they apparently didn't flush. He stood up, normally he'd try to wash or dry his shoe in a sink but he didn't have time, this place had a lot more security and anyone who didn't belong would be instantly found out. He threw the shoe to the side and hobbled out the door.

Taking an immediate right he stepped into an extremely neat office, he went straight for the filing cabinet on the right and opened the first drawer, he then slipped out the folder marked 'registry', it wouldn't be of too much use, not much info was recorded, but it had code names, levels of intelligence, experience, threat levels (John tried not to think of that one) and some even had pictures, he took out his camera to take a picture.

And then it all went to shit.

There was a sequence of loud bangs, frantic yells and crashing sounds filled the building. panicking John took the folder and ran back to the bathroom and threw it up into the hollow ceiling, he quickly thought that whoever this was could be the police, and threw his tazer in there as well. Before he could climb up himself someone had barged in and began kicking open cubicles, whoever it was didn't sound happy. He pulled the tile back over to cover his exit and sat down and hoped for the best.

The cubicle door nearly broke off from the force of the mans kick, in seconds John had been grabbed and thrown to the ground, he didn't get a good look at the man, but he saw the AK in his hands on his way down, the man shouted frantically at him and began to throw him toward the door. 'Shit' John thought, as he was flung out into the corridor.

The man marched him into a hall, where it appeared every other person had been taken, all sat down with their hands on their heads, a hostage situation if he ever saw one. He was thrown in between a young boy and an older man, everyone in the room had seen him and knew he wasn't meant to be there, but he knew he was the least of their worries.

Sitting their with his hands on his head, in the middle of the building he was braking into, taken hostage by people he didn't know, he knew this one would be hard to explain if he even lived.

'And it all seemed to be going so well...' he thought as he looked down avoiding the strange looks from the residents of the wammy house.

The broadcast came as a shock to Harumi and immmediately after, she dialed the Police Commisioner and asked how they were going to handle the situation. A scheduled S.W.A.T. operation was planned, however, Wammy's house was quite a long way from the precenct.

"Idiots...those are innocent children!" She ran towards the hotel, when she recieved another message from L.

She rushed over to the park after reading it and crashed into a boy, apparently still in his teens. "Sorry, I'm in a hurrry."

((My original plan for Zero was to have him living outside of the orphanage considering his age. However, as it seems that all the action is now taking place in the orphanage I'll just say he's one of the (very) few residents who decided to stay at the orphanage. It's like living in your mom's basement. He's just that lazy. XD))

It was unfortunate that he had turned the t.v. for only moments after the event became publicized he heard a giant crash. At first he thought perhaps one of the younger kids was causing trouble again, however this was soon proven false as children's screams filled the orphanage.

"Shit...!" He growled, immediately pushing himself away from the monitor. Someone had broken in to the orphanage? Where was Roger!? He could hear countless feet, all heavy and filled with maddened rage, storming up the stairs. One by one he heard doors opening, children being dragged out of their rooms, crying.

This... what was this!?

Then one of the intruders stopped in front of his door. Being one of the older kids he had the privilege of having his own room and a lock on his door. He had a sinking suspicion the lock wouldn't do much to protect him though.

The initial bang actually made him jump a bit. What the hell did they do, bring a battering ram!? Crazy shit heads... either way all he could do was sit there and wait as they pummeled the door, eventually breaking the lock and forcing the door open. Quickly he estimated a total of three people standing outside of the door, one was holding an M-16. Which was ridiculous. This house was filled with orphans and old people, why the hell would they storm the place with M-16s!?

"We've found another one!" One of the people behind Mr. M-16 announced into a walkie-talkie, the person's voice unmistakably feminine. So even women were participating in the terrorizing of innocent children? Just what the hell was going on here?

Mr. M-16 started to walk forwards.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you." He drawled as he sat back on the bed. Of course, he wouldn't give a warning unless he really meant it. Too bad some people just didn't know how to listen.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZT

It was like one of those electric bug zappers. But with 20x the electricity. Roger never allowed him to have guns or any other weapons on the premises of the orphanage, but he never said anything about booby traps. It was such a simple one, too. Trip the wire and you get zapped. Sadly he had built it only to prevent kids from coming into his room and taking his shit, so it wasn't deadly. But it hurt like a mother fucker.

"Stephan!" The other person behind Mr. M-16 shouted as he stumbled backwards, twitching in pain. Nobody touched him though. Static electricity was no fun. "You bastard! You'd better come out, or else!"

A slender eyebrow rose. Or else what? Couldn't they just shoot him if they were that desperate? Or disable the trap? Idiots.

"Z... zero!"

His attention was immediately peaked as he heard that soft, almost weak voice.

Apparently his earlier estimate had been wrong. There were four thugs. And one of them was holding a young girl about 15 years of age.

"Alice..." He growled, eyes narrowing dangerously. "Let go of her, you sick piece of shit!" He actually got up off his bed then, stepping forwards with murderous intent. Alice was one of the only kids that actually respected him in this damn house, and she was cute to boot. She was always so quiet and calm so now that he saw her not only distressed, but crying... well, he was clearly upset.

The same thug who called him a bastard smirked. He knew he had the upper hand now. "If you don't want her to be... hurt... you might wanna come with us quietly."

"....." He had no other choice, he supposed. Though he doubted any of their promises were trustworthy. Either way he conceded, begrudgingly making his way out of his room... but not without stopping and discreetly swiping one of the objects from his dresser.

"Zero...!" Alice once again spoke as he stepped over the booby trap and exited into the hallway. Mr. M-16 had recovered it seemed and was now pointing his gun straight at the older orphan's head. It seemed someone was a little bitter.

"Start walking, buddy." He growled. Zero said nothing as he reached out to take Alice's hand, holding it firmly before letting himself be led downstairs by the gun-crazy group.


When they got there it seemed as though they had succeeded in rounding up every single resident of Whammy's. Many of the kids were crying, others put on braver faces. He then spotted Roger who was tied up and helpless at the hands of the terrorist group.

And then he saw a face that, quite frankly, shocked the hell out of him.

It was that guy. From the surveillance tape. No mistake about it. But what was he doing here? And as a hostage, no less. He wanted to say something as he was forced to sit only feet away from him, along with Alice who had fallen silent once more, but he knew that if he said anything now they would all be screwed.

So instead he waited, biding his time before he could take action.
