I agree with that. They also mentioned in 1-5 how the prosecution has to have complete trust in the police department and all that jazz, and Edgey believes in that 100%. I think it's because of that trust that Gumshoe has the utmost respect for him. Not to mention that even though he's cut his pay several times, he's stuck up for him and saved his job too.

The Edgeworth/Gumshoe relationship is one of the sweetest relationships in the entire series. I think Edgeworth cares about Gumshoe a lot more than he usually shows, he just has trouble breaking through the boss-employee boundary. If you present Gumshoe's profile to Edgeworth in the latter half of 3-5, he says that he bought Gumshoe some instant noodles earlier that day. Of course, as Nick swiftly points out, he could have just raised his salary, but we know Edgeworth struggles with stuff like that. Not to mention that Edgeworth gets Gumshoe reinstated after he's fired in 2-4, and Gumshoe is the one Edgeworth chose to wish a happy new year to at the end of 1-4.

I think Clarissa Gavin is right, Gumshoe doesn't care about the salary cuts as long as he has validation from Edgeworth. Also, note that Gumshoe expressed no such feelings about either of the other main prosecutors he worked with.

Are you also excited about Gyakuten Kenji? I certainly am! Edgey's gonna get his very own game. :) How great is that? But I guess he won't be in GS5, then. I find that a little sad because I really want to see Older!Edgey... Anyway, still thrilled.

(Yeah, that wasn't really a contribution to the ongoing Gumshoe/Edgeworth discussion. So here I go. I don't really see them as lovers, I just think that Gumshoe really admires and respects Edgey. I love their relationship but I'm kind of iffy about the idea of those two as a romantic couple.)

You win. Have a cookie. :cookie:

I missed that part in 3-5... I must replay it nao! :grey:

And it seems like we can't go anywhere with this thread without bringing up the immortal "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!" It really was precious in the credits when Gumshoe said that Edgey had wished him a happy New Year, and it creates such a clear image in your head of Edgeworth standing on Gumshoe's doorstep cardboard-box-step, forcing himself to do it. I think he realized that maybe he wasn't giving Gumshoe the credit he deserved (the original whoop was meant to be a thank you, so I always thought that the "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP! DECTECTIVE GUMSHOOOOOOOOOOOOE!" was also, in Edgey's awkward way, a form of thanks).

You're right: Gumshoe definitely isn't as close to Franziska or Godot as he is Edgeworth. Gumshoe quite often mentions the 'bond of trust' between the police department and the prosecutor's office, but I think what he's really referring to is his relationship with Edgeworth.

And I feel the same, polkadot. Edgey and Gumshoe are great together, but I feel that just because they have a lot of trust and respect for each other doesn't automatically make it a romance. Even if Gumshoe did somehow harbour those sort of feelings towards Edgeworth, I don't think he would act on them because he would know what it would do to their relationship.

Don't give up on Edgey in GS5! :larry: He's just gotta be there!

I agree that Edgeworth and Gumshoe are unlikely to have a romantic relationship. But then, I'm generally not that into pairings. Except Ron/Dessie, but then almost everyone seems to support that at least slightly.

I don't actually mind that Edgeworth probably won't be in GS5. He does have his own game now, after all. The only reason I'd want to see him in GS5 is because I have this weird idea that Apollo would constantly get his name wrong, to hilarious effect. I have no clue where that idea came from.

Double homicide then, after all, it was :odoroki: screwing up his name

The idea of Edgeworth suddenly going Solid Snake and taking out Oldbag and Apollo is oddly humorous to me...

I don't think he would really be capable of murder. He really despises criminal behavior, and prosecutes it fiercely. Unless he got some more Manny influence, there'd be no murderin' Edgey.

:udgy: It's been 3 hours, when is Mr. Wright coming back?
:edgeworth: He called me during the last recess. He said he planted my fingerprints on his neck and broke it himself.
:udgy: Okay then.

I never understood that either, but there could be an explanation.

It could have some special significance to him, maybe it was Gregory's.
Self defense. He doesn't carry a taser like Manfred...I hope.

Lol, I think the knife was for slicing open tea bags. Edgey prolly doesn't want to waste time and go through the effort of tearing it open.

It could also be self defense, like it was mentioned. When you're a prosecutor, you can be dealt very weird situations. And people are cold. Who knows, your witness may pick a fight and try to kill you.

But then I don't really see Miles as the type to fight back. He'd prolly just try to hide (I can see him running in the women's bathroom in a panic, crouching himself in a stall, standing on a toilet so no one could tell he was there, lol.) Wow, interesting thought. What if someone was in the stall (LIKE OLDBAG) and they forgot to lock it? AHHH!!!

If Edgey was holding the knife at that time, we'd have to try him for the murder of Wendy Oldbag.

I have messed up thoughts. If you couldn't already tell.

Yeah, I could see Edgey crouching on a womens toilet until Gumshoe arrives. I'd see him more of a target of violence when he's working on an organized crime case. These mobs could always use a hitman to take him down. Without an ace prosecutor, the case against the defendant is hopeless. Lets just HOPE that Oldbag remembered to lock the door.

Realistically, I'd say that he would onlt be able to kill someone if there were no other option (ie life or death situation). Underneath it all, it's obvious that Edgey's quite a compassionate guy. He values life a lot, and I think that if he actually did end up killing someone he would spend the rest of his life being emo because he wouldn't be able to stop thinking "God, what have I done?"

I agree. The knife was really random. If he was going to use it for anything (especially self-defence) why the hell would he keep it in his trunk, of all places? It would be more believable for him to have a penknife or something in his pocket than a ten-inch blade in his trunk.

And I don't think that Edgey's very dexterous. It took him 17 years to learn how to fold a paper crane, case closed.

Nope, just played 1-5. Lana says she just picked up the knife that happened to be there, and Edgeworth confirms that it's usually in his trunk. Phoenix even wonders why Edgey would have a knife like that, but no answer is given.

And that's a half-inch paper crane, thank you very much. That requires almost inhuman folding skill.

Well, in answer to my own question, I do think aforementioned life or death situation, but I think the only other thing that could set him off is if someone were to hurt or kill one of the people he cared about (Wright, Franny, ...Maya by proxy of Wright, but only if he had to protect her, he has shown that he cares a little about her, at least for Wright's sake) I hardly see him as a coward, and given his Physique (He's clearly not fat, nor unhealthy thin, seems to have a little bit of a build to him) I'd say that if push came to shove, he could fight, but he would avoid it at all costs.

If he did kill someone, I do think he's be shaken up really badly though, even if it was justifiable, he seems to fall easy prey to his inner demons.

It wasn't a ten-inch blade, it was a ten centimeter blade. That's not even four inches... a small item like that could be found in a utility kit.

...His "Earthquake Survival" kit... :edgy:

Addressing the question of Edgeworth and murder, one has to remember that he believed he had accidentally killed his own father for quite a long time. I don't know how that would affect his "taste for blood," if at all, but you have to realize he's dealt with a lot of deliberate murderers throughout his career while compelled by the trauma of an accidental one. Since he is a firm believer in justice, and most or all of the convicted murderers were given the death sentence, he is probably very familiar with having the fate of a human life in his hands.

I believe that Edgeworth could personally take a life so long as it were justified. Very thoroughly justified.

I'll have to remember to make a sign like that when school starts again. Especially if the person hates being touched. It will amuse me.

Not to mention he glares at the weirdest things. I love when in 3-5 he glares at the Detention Center guard and the security camera.

AHHH!!!

Dont you remember Edgeworth punching Gumshoe in case 3-5?

I dont remember what it was he said, but Gumshoe said something to make Edgey mad and then says " Oow! Youve got a mean punch sir!"

If he wont even think twice about punching Gumshoe, theres no doubt in my mind he'd fight back in self defense.

I don't think that's weird. He was in the detention center himself, and he's certainly the type to hold grudges, and yes it was awesome. Like hes saying " what now bitch?" XD

He's definitely the type to hold grudges.

I don't remember when Edgeworth punched Gumshoe. What part of 3-5 was it? Do you have to present something?
