Two months since Doomsday. Two months since the world went to Hell. Two months since I've had a hot shower, Peter thought as he forged for non~biohazard edible garbage. We shouldn't have survived. Getting bombed is better than being forced to eat this crap. He looked back at the village and sighed. He looked to the sky. Why all of them? (This is a post-doomsday RP. The village is full of refugees who do some job. Post your name and job and anything extra. Enjoy.)

Cara stood soberly in front of a gravestone. It smelled of freshly cut stone, just like many surrounding it in the crowded cemetery. It had been two months since she lost her brother, her only real family. It had been mush longer since she had been able to cry. She knelt down, placing her pale hand on the cool stone, feeling the neatly carved words, and placed a daisy at its foot. After Jack was gone, she was all alone. Cara whispered a prayer, then stood up and walked away.

Peter lit a cigarette and sighed. Cigarettes were a waste of life when life was gone. He came back to the dirty, decrepit, makeshift village carrying a dead... Animal of some sort. He noticed Cara there. Her job was ironic. Flowers were beautiful anywhere else. In this world, of decay, ruin and sorrow, it was like a diamond in a pile of crap. "I brought 'dinner'," he grunted to her.

Cara recognized Peter's voice; it was rougher than it had been a few months ago. "Thank you, Peter," she smiled, "for taking care of me recently. I'm sorry for being such a burden to you..." She wondered how she could ever get along without Peter. Ever since two months ago, life had become extremely difficult, but she always found something to smile for... Right now, that something was Peter. "You sound hoarse," she observed. "I can make you some tea if you don't feel well..."

Peter couldn't help but smile back. She had a tough life, but she never felt the full force of it. "If it'll help wash this garbage down." He lifted the rotting animal and pat it on the head. "I'm sure whatever this little guy was, he would have made a better meal alive."

The animal's smell made Cara wrinkle her nose. "I'll make Ginseng," she said. "We haven't had that in a while." She started to heat up the stove, then reached for the spices in her cabinet. "But first we'll cook the food." She gestured toward the table. "Sit, sit, you've had a tough day."

Peter sat with an exhausted grunt. He dropped the creature on the table and lit another cigarette. "Did you visit your brother today?" Peter had made all the tombstones himself. They were all clumsy; the work of an amateur. But Cara's brother's was made with special care, for her. He took another drag on his cigarette.

Nathaniel wandered down the hallways of the slightly crumbling Village center, rugged rusty dagger, the only weapon a low ranking militia member like him was allowed to have, clanked against his side on his belt as he walked. After taking a few more steps, his stomach let out a ravenous roar. " Damned hunger. I'd most likely of rather starved than eat these tasteless rocks a few months ago." Nathaniel grumbled as he took a bite out of an ash cake (bread cooked on warm ashes). Bored, he went out into the small space that was the villages center, conatining the barterer's trading goods in one fourth, a graveyard in another, houses in the third fourth, and a mostly blank patch of land made up the rest.

It appears I have started a roleplay called A World of Super Humans. You should join it.

"Yes, I did." Cara remembered her brother's death quite well; it was the same day she nearly died from the fallout. Miraculously, she survived the radiation poisoning, but it had rendered her blind. At first, she thought it a curse, but after a short while, she realized that her nose, ears, and fingers could paint a picture far more vivid than her eyes ever did. She brought the finished ginseng tea to the table. "I left him a daisy. He always loved simple things like that."

As Nathaniel walked through the town central in a bee-line towards his house, he passed by Cara's home, and could smell cigarette smoke from under the shabby door. " Peter must be visiting. I doubt she'll want me to drop in then." Nathaniel thought as he continued to walk.

Peter never talked about his feelings or anything that hurt him, but he had been bitten by a mutant animal. "I wonder if Ruthe's around," Peter muttered quietly, looking at the spot where the bite was.

She picked up a small pot with a bright red snapdragon in it and handed it to Nat. "Sorry," said Cara, "I'd forgotten it was your birthday the other day."

Ruthe was wondering whether or not to wish Nat a happy birthday as she stared at the house. She stood there debating with herself for a long time. She finally decided that the best gift she could give him was to leave him alone. She stumbled back to what was now a run-down building, looking like it was going to collapse any minute. She sighed and entered.
