I was joking to make my point. I realize that it takes a lot of skill to fold a crane that size, but there's a difference between skill and talent. Edgey probably devoted a lot of time to honing his |337 0ri94mi $ki||z, but I hold that in general he's probably not very good at tactile things (like Pearl).

Zeon Twilight wrote:

I agree. Miles and Maya don't have a lot of character interaction and they definitely aren't close, but they both seem to care about each other to an extent because of Phoenix. I think that Edgeworth would do a lot for Maya and Pearls (and maybe even Iris) because of his loyalty to Wright.

Zeon Twilight wrote:
I hardly see him as a coward, and given his Physique (He's clearly not fat, nor unhealthy thin, seems to have a little bit of a build to him) I'd say that if push came to shove, he could fight, but he would avoid it at all costs.

Agreed. He's clearly not unhealthy, though I'm not sure about how well he takes care of himself. I imagine him to watch what he eats and such, but I can't imagine him working out or anything (in Turnabout Crossover he does mention that he doesn't get enough exercise). I don't know how well he would fare in a fight, but he definitely would be able to fight if he had to.

I'd like to say he isn't fat, but he does seem to be sporting quite the beer-belly in this picture:

Addressing the question of Edgeworth and murder, one has to remember that he believed he had accidentally killed his own father for quite a long time. I don't know how that would affect his "taste for blood," if at all, but you have to realize he's dealt with a lot of deliberate murderers throughout his career while compelled by the trauma of an accidental one. Since he is a firm believer in justice, and most or all of the convicted murderers were given the death sentence, he is probably very familiar with having the fate of a human life in his hands.

Now that you bring it up, I don't really understand that. I've always seen him as having a very high regard for human life, especially after DL-6. But for 4 years he was the 'demon prosecutor' who never failed to reach a guilty verdict, and he concedes that some of those people could have been innocent. I know that after DL-6 (and von Karma) he developed a hatred for criminals that was probably almost to the point of vigilantism, but having someone's life in your hands is a lot of weight to bear. His job is to make sure that people get the death penalty... I'm sort of confused by it.

That picture certainly isn't his most flattering. I think it was funky shading, because in court he doesn't have the moobs, one can surmise that the belly might shrink a little too, same when you are talking to him in investigation mode.

Yeah, I'd say it's the shading. Grossberg should be the only PW character with Moobs. He does look a little...well...lets say overweight in that picture though.

My vote is that it's shading. Besides, he looks pretty svelte in the art for the spin-off. (Perhaps because he started running. Hehe.)

Did he ever mention he started running? Honestly, I can't really picture Miles running 1 mile in shorts. Thats a disturbing mental image, that is!

I think that was an offhanded reference to the new spinoff game and the fact that before all Phoenix Wright characters just seemed to teleport around.

Oh! Yeah, the running pictures. At least that you don't teleport now! Teleporting isn't possible! Now Edgey runs everywhere...but I think Edgey has a drivers license. I remember seeing some official art of him getting into a car.

Well I haven't played 1-5 in 2 years!

Yes, Wright doesn't have a license. It is mentioned at least once (1-3 is all I remember) that he has no license.
Also, that picture completely destroys the moob & fat theory.

Lol the moobs weren't really a 'theory'. I was just making fun (because it's so EASY). Pretty much all of Edgey's sprites and official art show him as being average, if not trim. Maybe he just ate a lot of comfort food in the detention centre.

Edgey really does have the worst luck when you think about it though. Especially with getting his witnesses to say their names. :-P

Come to think of it...Isn't Yanni Yogi the only witness (And he was Karma's) that did that? I can't remember any of his witnesses that didn't mention their names.

Redd White and Oldbag are the ones that immediately come to mind, but I think there might be a few others. Redd White rambles about "So you would like to know the title of my personage?" and subdues Edgey with several nonexistent words, and Oldbag insists that he call her 'Grandma'. At some point Nick says "Edgeworth really seems to be having trouble introducing his witnesses", or something like that.

I'm totally going too after I'm done with AJ (And after my ma is done with it...I've got her hooked now too)

So, any theories on what would have happed to Edgey without the "Wright" kind of intervention? Do you think anyone could have gotten him to stray from his demon prosecutor path?

I dunno, I'd like to think it's possible. I think he was never really a bad guy, it was just that he addressed his intellect in sort of a wonky direction.

Besides, wouldn't he have just ended up convicted of murder for the incident in 1-4?

I don't remember when Edgeworth punched Gumshoe. What part of 3-5 was it? Do you have to present something?

I honestly dont remember. I uhh...was unconscious yea. ( hey, it worked for half the defendants didn't it?)

I was stuck and so just showing every single piece of evidence and profile I had.So its entirely possible that I presented something to him. I think Edgerworth punched him for saying something Pheonix being an idiot for saving Maya and that he may not recover.

I vaguely remember punching Gumshoe now. I think it was Maya's profile you presented.

It's when you're in the Courtyard and you present Pearl's profile to Gumshoe.

Spoiler: 3-5
Present Pearl's profile
:edgeworth: "What about Pearl...? Has no one seen her at all since last night?"
:eh?: "Seems that way... Apparently, she hasn't gone back to Kurain Village either, sir."
:edgeworth: "But it's true that she was with Elise Deauxnim at some point last night?"
:eh?: "No doubt about it. Ah...! Y-You mean that maybe whoever killed Ms. Deauxnim also...!?"
:edgeworth: "D-Don't jump to any crazy conclusions!"
:sadshoe: "Oooooouuch! ...You sure have one mean punch, Mr. Edgeworth...!"

I cracked up when Gumshoe tried to eat the Magatama. I love the interactions between Edgey and Gumshoe in 3-5.

Ah. Well, I'd have to restart the whole case. Then again, it would be worth playing as Edgeworth.

Heres an Edgey question: WHY DOES A PROSECUTOR KNOW HOW TO PUNCH? Better yet, why is it better than the punch of a trained police detective? :eh?:

:nick: Besides that being TOTALLY out of character for Edgey, Gumshoe would probably do what any human being would do and act in self-defence. If someone's coming at you with a knife if doesn't matter if they're your friend or not, you just care about not ending up dead. Gumshoe would probably do his best to stop Edgeworth without hurting him, but I can't imagine either of them leaving the dispute unharmed.

And seeing as this discussion is totally getting distracted from Edgeworth, I'm returning to Zeon's question.

It's hard to say how things would be if Miles had never met Phoenix. I hate to say it, but he would probably be pretty much the exact same as he was in 1-2, and would continue his downward spiral into evil-prosecutor-ness. Also consider that if he had never interacted with Phoenix, von Karma would be a free man and Edgey wouldn't have left that suicide note, and he probably wouldn't have confessed to killing his father. He would have remained in America, likely. Maybe Gumshoe would be the one to give him that push in the right direction... I just imagined if Edgeworth were the prosecutor for 3-3.

(Love your sig btw Miles)

I always figured Gumshoe not to really be the type to really...well...DO anything about that. For 1-2 and 1-3, he wasn't exactly "Attorney's best friend." He supported the way Miles did his job. (At least that I remember) He Started assisting Phoenix during 1-4, when Edgeworth was accused of murder.

In 3-3 Edgeworth would probably be the type to force an awkward silence until Armstrong acted normal.
von Karma would taser him into submission.
Franny would whip him.
And we all know what Godot did...nothing.

If Edgey had never met Feenie, then things would be entirely different. They would just be mere 'enemies' in court. Not exchanging so much of a conversation with Feenie. I see that they would only cross paths in the court room, as there would be no other significance.

Also, if they had never met, why else would Feenie have wanted to become an attorney? He hoped of one day battling THE Miles Edgeworth in court, and that happened. Butz, being the middle school dropout he is, wouldn't push Feenie and have as much influence on him.

Larry was an idiot, and STILL IS.

Yes, his life would be very different if he never met Phoenix. He would be a jerk, who believed in GUILTY AS CHARGED whenever someone was arrested. He would probably support you know...imperialism. Monarchy. That stuff.

Shit... how did I miss that? This is what happens when I pull an all nighter and I don't have any energy drinks to keep me going. I also had to work this morning from 6am to 2pm and my work is quite tiring.

Actually, Von Karma's plan was to get Edgey tried for murder all along. Whether if it was for murdering Hammond or murdering his father is the only question. If Phoenix had never stepped in to be Edgeworth's defense attorney, he might've even been tried as guilty from the start, since no one wanted to defend him. So in short, if Edgey never met Phoenix, he would've been in jail (maybe even death row, still not sure how the judicial system determines that kind of thing), and Von Karma would've had his revenge. And the world would cry for Edgey. :larry:

:larry:

UGH. ^^ I don't even want to think about that. It hurts me.

What you speak is truth, though, as much as I don't want to admit it. :sadshoe: And if it wasn't for Gumshoe's metal detector, we wouldn't have known what Karmy was really up to. He hid it so well, but not well enough.

Hey, has anyone thought that maybe DL-6 would have been a little different had Edgey not met Phoenix? It's quite possible that it couldn't have occurred entirely. Had Gregory and Edgey not moved, of course. According to my memory (which could be wrong) the game doesn't really tell us where Edgey was at before he transferred to Nick and Larry's school. For all we know, Edgey and his papa could have been in a different part of the country, or even a different country entirely.

It doesn't tell us, but It's reasonable to think it was still in the same city. When the earthquake happened, they were trapped in an elevator with Yanni Yogi. He also says he was a bailiff in the same court Edgey was tried for the murder.

However, I think he moved AFTER DL-6 happened. I don't know who took him, because Karma went on that long "vacation."

Wait... How did von Karma get past the airport metal detectors with that bullet in his shoulder?

I SMELL A CONTRADICTION!

DL-6 had nothing to do with Nick, and Miles transferred to his and Larry's school before he met them. The long and short of DL-6 is Miles goes to watch Daddy in court, Daddy thumbs his nose at Karma, earthquake happens, Miles shoots Karma, and Karma shoots Daddy.

Phoenix had no bearing on these events, unless we fancrack it.

Spoiler: Fancrack a
- Phoenix
:edgeworth: Daddy, I'm emo because I don't have any friends. I'm too busy cutting myself to stalk you in court and shoot your rival.

Spoiler: Fancrack b
+ Phoenix
:phoenix: Psst!
:karma: Wot? Who are you?
:phoenix: I'm your conscience. Now object and call my best friend's dad a jerkface.
:karma: :objection: Edgeworth is a jerkface, Your Honour.
:udgy: PENALTY'D
:gregory: 8D Take that, bitch.
:karma: i did it for the lulz.

You get my point. But Phoenix was clearly the earthquake.

And as for what happened to Edgey during Karmy's six month vacation, he was probably in foster care.

This thread is now about why Edgey should become Chief Prosecutor.
