RE: Kiero
I love that drawing. She looks like she's on fire.

RE: WhiteElephant
Thanks for clearing that up. Mime as Morgan's personal spy... a bit of a background role, too, which isn't so bad, but it is essential when it concerns Dahlia and Iris.

RE: Pie
I think the Borginian Cocoon has the opportunity to play a larger role, rather than a character-specific one, and if we have to spread the character-specific scenarios to other characters, then it becomes a redo of the "Venom Possession" riff I was on a couple weeks back. It's a big, fat no. But if the Borginian Cocoon is just an episode-long gimmick, a gadget of the week for Hairaiser to find, then they're kinda meh, you know?

And personally, I like what's been offered for Regina Berry's newfound place as a villain. It should be relayed here.

Aaah, okay, I see what you're getting at now. Hrmmm. Yeah, admittedly, if they were used, it'd be better to let other characters have fun with them (I did, after all, say that it'd make more sense for them to apply to natural powers in general, not just Hairaiser's), but I can see how it starts to take on the theme of the nail polish thing. Even if it's more power!enhancement and less evil!enhancement...

And making it a one-shot thing... well, doesn't seem worth it. Hrrrm. And I suppose balancing the two would be difficult? Like rather than any major arc (as I believe the black polish thing was going to be, correct me if I'm wrong), it's just something that comes up now and then as a footnote to other plots? Only real arc would be the introduction, when Hairaiser first uses one? Completely scrapping any major overdose idea?

Cocoons or not, I still think, given how much it's come up, it's worth looking into some way for Daryan to do temporary upgrades. And I've already considered generic ideas I'm not too keen on - like the DBZ method of, "I was just holding back, now I'm going to change form and show you my TRUE power!"... that doesn't seem like how he'd fight. And then doing something like in Power Rangers where some sort of Rita Repulsa character makes him grow - I cracked a joke about that with Yuu, but really, that would just be horribly lame. And like a really bad version of that whole thing with The Edge. So I think those are both out.

All right. Regina! This started with me talking about how no one from Turnabout Big Top has come up at all, even though several of the characters are such nuts they could be superheroes as-is. Which Bee suggested might be why they've been overlooked. Either way, it somehow spawned the idea of Regina as a villain.

The concept I have is that Regina is Yet Another Magical Girl as a little girl, assisted by a little version of Leon, much like Kero from Cardcaptors. But given that she's a little girl, and this is before a lot of heroes get killed off, I don't see her as needing to do much actual fighting with these powers. So, instead, perhaps she uses them for performance. Maybe she even has her own magical girl series, though I worry about that seeming too much like Matt Engarde in a way.

Anyway. Whatever happens, somehow she loses Leon (if she has a show, I suggested that the show be canceled and Leon gets taken away as company property; she gets upset and destroys the studio because the people running it are obviously evil), and a new assistant steps in to help this naive and charming girl.

Regent. Either a chibi version, much like Leon, or maybe a full sized Regent that she could ride. Either way, Regina loves animals and doesn't realize that this one is evil and taking advantage of her naivety to skew her sense of good and evil. So, while she turns into a villain, I imagine that Regina might still believe she's a magical girl warrior of justice. And that the heroes, therefore, must be the bad guys!

Rivalry with Yuu is a must. They would probably be BFFs at first, and then insert shoujo drama as it becomes painfully obvious that Regina is actually evil. And possibly the biggest, pinkest catfight of all time if Regina starts using any of her Pretty Succubus powers on Luke.

I keep asking, though, what would become of Leon. There's actually a potential for a happy end for Regina, if Leon comes in, drives off Regent, and pulls Regina out of the scene to teach her what is good and what is evil. Otherwise, though, there's just gonna be a sad little lion abandoned out there somewhere, wondering what happened to his magical girl best friend.

Spoiler: SL-6
Image
Meet the Super Lightning 6, a classic team of superheroes that were the face of justice for many years. Headed by the legendary "Lightning," a long-standing respected superhero, these half-dozen rangers would infiltrate villain's hideouts and foil their dastardly plans, even apprehending criminal masterminds and bringing them to justice! Sadly, that all came to an end when it was discovered Lightning had laid down an elaborate conspiracy to secure himself a place of political power at the expense of his teammates. The other five heroes decided to expose him and ruin his plot. It was in this battle that Damon Gant revealed his true form as the Kiddy Fiddler, and though he lost his chance for power he managed to escape after killing Neil Marshall. The SL-6 broke up, each of the heroes distraught and despairing from the depths of Damon's deception.

"Dusk" Jake Marshall fell into depression and brooding, becoming a part-time vigilante gunman, working for no one, living for no one.

"Icecap" Lana Skye put away her superhero garb and became a public prosecutor, but was later contacted by Kiddy Fiddler with threats towards her young sister, Ema. The nature of this threat is as of yet unknown, but it is something that makes her his pawn in the local government, allowing him to manipulate her from the shadows.

"Vision" Angel Starr and "The Shadow" Bruce Goodman were the intel and covert ops specialists of the SL-6. While Bruce was able to use psychic powers to make himself invisible, Angel was blessed with true sight that could draw the truth out of any individual. Naturally, Angel could always see through Bruce's illusion, and it was rumored that the two had developed a sort of relationship behind the scenes. Angel found little glamour being the information-gathering mastermind and workhorse for the team, but found a kindred spirit in Bruce. They, too, however, went their seperate ways...
Spoiler: Bruce Goodman and Angel Starr
The lyrics are from "My Selene" by Sonata Arctica.
Image
Image
After SL-6 disbanded, Bruce Goodman made it his goal to investigate the Kiddy Fiddler's plans and find a way to put a stop to them. He was alone in this endeavor, however, as the others had lost much of their pride and spirit from his betrayal. Eventually, Bruce confronted the Kiddy Fiddler by himself, and by all accounts was killed... Knowing full well that he could not reunite the wandering members of the SL-6, nor could any of them face Kiddy Fiddler alone, Bruce Goodman had to fake his death so as to continue working in the shadows. Until the time was right, everyone would have to believe he was dead, especially Angel Starr, as her powers could make her a liability.

Heartbroken, Angel Starr gave up on her sense of justice and heroism, using her intelligence-gathering capabilities to become an information-mongerer, growing wealthy and powerful through blackmail, industrial sabotage, and other conspiracies great and small.

Writing under spoiler cuts.
Spoiler: Icecap's Breathing
This is the first concept for Lana's "breath filter." At its base, it is a moisture recycler, as an aura of cold surrounds Lana whenever she activates her ice powers. This causes her body to drop temperature, and freezes the moisture in the air around her, making it difficult to breathe. She can still use her powers without the protective measures, but quickly becomes weak if she exerts herself.
Image
Spoiler: Icecap's Suit
Possible suit idea for Lana. Doing away with the bulky backpack in favor for a high-tech mask, and using a more sporty ski suit rather than a bulky coat and such, or using a fanservicey spandex number. I'd like to see what other people come up with for her.

Double posting.

In preparation for the new website, I've been poking about available information and trying to create new characterization summaries that more wholly describe each character, for use in the new profiles. Naturally, I'm starting with Makoto. Here's a preview:
Spoiler:
Makoto aka Super Makoto
female art student, 19

Description
Makoto is very shy and withdrawn, shrinking away from strangers and even struggling to express any emotion in her face, often resorting to sketching out images in her drawing pad to get the point across. That said, she can be very jumpy, especially when it comes to physical contact of any sort. Makoto struggles with her fear of the outside world conflicting with her growing curiosity, as well as a love for the people and things she discovers. She especially enjoys stories about fantasy and magic, and admires modern superheroes with a distinct gusto: it's one of very few subjects that gets her to smile and laugh.

If she ever goes out in public, she carries a number of good luck charms with her: her favorite plushie, her signature pink headscarf, her preferred brand of clear nail polish — but what makes her feel really secure is clinging tightly to the arm of her close friend Takita.

Superhero
Makoto inherited the Power Perfect, which grants her the ability to shape the world around her, primarily by conjuring things that she draws. Because of her exacting artistic abilities, she can work with nearly any medium to create nearly anything she can imagine, from complex structures to rainbow beams. She often uses this very flexible power to outsmart and trap villains, though she has been tempted at times to abuse it for her own purposes.

Although she is terrified of supervillains and other dangers in the outside world, her motivation for becoming Super Makoto is driven partly by a desire to get a closer look at and even take part in the fantastic adventures of her favorite superheroes. Over time, her inspiration comes from getting to know more about the world she lives in, and the people in it, and a growing desire to protect them.
Now, from what you can see here, I'm trying for a relatively exhaustive description of a character's personality, specifically their motivations for their actions. These summaries ought to get across the concept of the character, as well as display their potential for development in the story.

I intend on working on a history/background section that will give a similarly general/detailed description of a character's story — however, these parts are incredibly malleable and subject to change, and as such I encourage, even demand that people give input on every character's profile. Remember that this project thrives on new ideas and concepts. Don't be afraid of reworking established ideas.

On that note, when the new website comes up, I'm currently going to be alone in my writing endeavors - all content must go through me, as editor and project leader. Do not be afraid to contact me with any questions and such you may have, because as a one-man operation I am quickly going to run out of energy, and need your support to get things done! I am perfectly willing to allow other people to write up character profiles and other articles (such as glossary entries).

I'm unsure how diamonds could tie into Dee's role... but first we'd have to come up with a good role for her. I can definitely see her being somewhat ostentatious in all regards, and I'll definitely keep that idea in mind.

As for Franziska, we've already defined her abilities early on. Besides, mind control and such are usually tools of the villains.

"Tegaki" is the colloquial term for a drawing-based weblog, where all entries, comments, and information must be in illustrated format. There's the original Japanese site, and there's the Western one hosted on unowen (also accessible at tegakie.com, incidentally).

Did you all know that in one month, it's SMako's one year anniversary? I hope to have the website set up by then, in between my finals, Ethed's finals, and my girlfriend visiting for the summer. But even if I'm not around to work on the project, I want everyone to keep contributing. Feel free to craft ideas on your own and with each other outside of my presence - always share ideas!

Speaking of ideas, I've been on kind of a No More Heroes trip lately, and I just gotta say I'm personally warmed up to the idea of Cody Hackins being an otaku punk rather than a bonafide superhero. (I mean, come on, who wins a beam katana off a web auction?) What's more, it gives him more reason to tail after Pink Princess/Pearl... he thinks she's totally moe.

So! I got bored, and needed to practice some anatomy.~
Plus I wanted to put a few minor changes to the outfit from before.~ Soo. <3

Image

The sleeves are the tiniest bit smaller, the ribbons on them are now pink instead of blue.
The bow on the back is a little smaller and the ribbon on her arm now has a blue ribbon instead of pink. x3
Also a tiny colour adjustment, its much brighter now.~

P.s.: Shes not angry, she can't get her ribbon to tie up properly, so shes a little aggravated. xD Bad memories come from that and cosplaying Franziska Von Karma... .-.

Right, so, SMako came up in the paintchat as it always does. A silly conversation about WWIII breaking out because Borginia won't hand over the damn cocoons needed to heal the dying American children.

But then, suddenly, there was an idea for something about the nature of Hairaiser's powers, which will certainly decide their origin and might have an impact on his motive as well.

His powers are a sickness. Specifically, it seems it'd have to be some kind of crazy mutant power, which means it'd either have to be something he inherited via genetics or something that happened to him. And since I follow the school of thought that radiation and lab accidents are too overdone, I'm almost tempted to say it should be the former, but the condition wasn't as... acute with his parents. (Maybe the Almost Lost Pompadourian Shark People wasn't as much of a throwaway joke as I thought.)

This means, though, that it does tend to get worse - making him stronger and more dangerous at times, but more likely to hurt himself. And if it goes too far, he'd end up taking himself out. I note that this seems to be a pattern with me, since Jake's powers also had the potential to kill him, but that's only if he pushes himself to extreme limits - this one is a much more real danger, since it more depends on what Daryan doesn't do than what he does, and will start to threaten him every time he can't treat himself.

And thus, this could be the best way to bring the Borginian Cocoons into the picture, one more true to their miracle cure/potent poison role in the game. Rather than amplifying powers, they do the opposite, and - depending on how you look at it - 'heal' or 'kill' them. It'd probably only affect a few types of powers, most notably Daryan's. So, this turns into a dangerous balance game - if he took a large enough dose, he probably could kill off his condition completely and return to normal. But, since Daryan's got plans for his powers, he only takes enough to keep himself under control. And prays he doesn't run out, I bet.

Thoughts?

There was also the issue of limited supply with the cocoons, since supposedly Borginia was embroiled in a massive war over the commodity, hence Grossberg's unit - Diego, Mia, and Phoenix - being sent in. Perhaps Morgan also wanted a hand in the cocoons and sent Dahlia there to secure a position, thus resulting in the Borginia Incident so heavily referenced in SMako.

And there's also another character who may have to deal with the cocoons: Machi. Maybe he's searching for the last remaining specimens, too, for purposes of repropogating the species after the Borginian Conflict made the country unsafe for growing/gathering cocoons or producing the medicine from their silk. It could be a point of contention between him and Daryan, and later on something for them to cooperate for (Daryan could reduce his intake to grant Machi the samples he needs, with the promise that more will by synthesized as they work together to find them).

Of course, now they seem like a short cameo, as they would have to go globe-trotting to find all the missing cocoons that made it out of the country. Any teary goodbyes for the main characters left behind? Hmm... Machi/Trucy pls

Hmm. Well, that would depend mostly on how long they'd be gone compared to the timeline of SMako, wouldn't it?

...

Speaking of which, how long IS the timeline? The beginning and end are referenced constantly, but have we even looked into all the events that happen in between? A story's only as good as its plot, after all; otherwise, this'll seem like any Saturday morning cartoon, where most plots seem to have spawned when the writers asked themselves, "What can we do this week?"

Which, um, well, maybe that's what we want, but I'd like to get some clarification first. Since we do seem to be coming up with potential subplots already, such as Machi's Training.

The Borginia Incident is set a stellar 7 years before SMako's beginning, following the PW arc's sync with the AJ arc. This makes for some interesting age-fudging...

SM -7
    Makoto is 12 years old
    Machi Tobaye is 7
    Daryan Crescend is 17
    Borginia Incident
Mia Fey killed in action (30)
      Diego Armando exiled (34 )
      Phoenix Wright injured (26)
SM
    Makoto is 19 years old
      Makoto becomes Super Makoto
    Phoenix Wright is 33
    Diego Armando is 41
    Machi Tobaye is 14
    Daryan Crescend is 24
    Dahlia Hawthorne is 32 D:

Certain characters, like Luke Atmey, are held back to keep from advancing into their 40s...

Well, I was curious more about what happens from that SM milestone on - is there a set limit on how long events will last after that point?

Also, something I considered... Machi might have Daryan agree to slow his intake, but remember, he's not taking them because wants to, but because he has to. So to reduce his intake would, actually, be a dangerous decision, even if they had some sort of secondary way to keep his powers under control... something Machi will have to be aware of and will doubtlessly deal with sometime during their cocoon-hunting sidearc.

It also still begs the question of how they'd be finding those cocoons. I mean, it's not exactly easy to comb the world for candy-things, and I don't see how they'd be able to get many leads on ones that got out of the country. I'd bring up Pie-the-bug-whisperer again as an option but I'm scared I'd just get snackoo'd for it... (though if she was involved in such a side-arc, she'd have to interact with both Daryan AND Machi, which would already start to break her out of any role as purely an accessory to Daryan. Poor kid, having to cooperate with not one but two villains, with all three of them having spats about what to do about the cocoons... no! Not the snackoos! *ducks*)

I'll just sit down and be quiet now. ;~;

(Blame the fact that I grew up on the Sonic comics, by the way. Where sideplots and mini-sidearcs were just routine.)

Edit:

Spoiler: I AM SO SORRY ABOUT THIS

Edit:

Okay, so I might as well list the other thought I had last night, around 4 AM... (Sleep? What is this sleep thing people talk about?)

You were the one who brought up the globetrotting, but it seems like searching far and wide for more cocoons would cause a few problems to the plot. It'd cut them both out of the main story for a while and there's the question of how they'd find them, which inevitably leads to me getting snackoo'd...

So maybe there's some way to make their search more... local? Because there's plenty of Americans who would've snatched a cocoon for their own for some purpose, if only as a failsafe in case they get Incuritis? And maybe even have someone else go after ones that may be hidden abroad (since Daryan is afraid of planes anyway :V )? There's still the question, though, of how they'd track them...

I also had a very dark thought, right when I finally went to bed last night... it's a cure AND a poison, right? The thought crossed my mind that in its two states, the drug manufactured from the cocoons isn't actually particularly different. And with his acute condition, to 'cure' it Daryan might have to take a potentially lethal dose, which is why he doesn't. Damned if he doesn, damned if he doesn't.

Of course, that might be needlessly depressing and excessively mean. Making his condition an illness is cruel enough, ne?

After discussion in PChat, this is the new concept for the cocooons (and involved parties).

The Borginian Cocoon can only produce one thing: a potent poison known as atrocinine. Incidentally, it is this substance alone that can counteract the deadly disease known as Incuritis. While still a rare disease, slowly rising numbers of cases on a global scale over the decades have sparked controversy over its production, as it is a species that resides only in the remote country of Borginia.

Super Makoto -?
Enter the young Daryan Crescend. No more than ten years old, he was diagnosed with an acute condition where his hair had mutated into an extension of his body. Although earmarked for superpowers at this young age, it had terrible consequences on his health, and in desperation his parents submitted him to experimental treatment at the infamous Holy Trinity Hospital...

Holy Trinity was known for its eccentric directors: the enigmatic Hotti, the decorated Pal Meraktis, and the temperamental Turner Grey. It was also renowned for the medical miracles it consistently produced - and the rumors of nightmarish horrors that lurked the lower levels, the results of experiments gone wrong. Some say that these were freak accidents, while others maintain the doctors had more sinister intentions.

The latter would turn out to be true, for the three doctors were in fact working on creating a line of "super soldiers" at the behest of a mysterious authority figure known to them only as Von Karma. Von Karma operated from the shadows, at a remote distance, but promised great wealth and power to the "good doctors" if they could produce for him the perfect superhuman soldier.

The doctors of Holy Trinity found that Daryan had great potential as his powers increased, but had to discover a way to replicate his transfiguring condition in a stable manner, and possibly a way to keep it in check. The answer to this was the Borginian Cocoon and the atrocinine it could produce - in regular doses it could keep the growth of Daryan's powers at a stable level while he grew up. As Daryan grew older, the doctors implemented seperate regimens and training to make Daryan into a servant for them as they carried out more hellish experiments.

Eventually, however, Daryan would rebel against his "creators," and escape with a stash of the precious Borginian Cocoons to keep himself alive as he went off to form his own plans and live his own life...

Super Makoto -7
Seven years ago there was an international conflict when multiple underground groups and nations pressured Borginia to supply more of the cocoons. Borginia became a battleground, and many of the cocoons disappeared - some stolen, others rightfully captured, many destroyed in the crossfire. The ongoing hunt attracted the attention of a particular shadowy figure known as Dahlia. Tracking her movements, the American government sent in a special ops team led by Marvin Grossberg, consisting of Diego Armando, Mia Fey, and Phoenix Wright, to put a stop to her plans. This was the infamous Borginia Incident, where Mia lost her life, Diego was charged with treason and exiled, and Phoenix Wright was gravely injured and retired from active duty.

In the years since Daryan's escape, the doctors of the Holy Trinity had perfected the replication of Daryan's superpowers, first transplanting them into an unwitting subject: Miles Edgeworth. However, the formula was too resistant to control through atrocinine, and he broke free and went rogue, with little memory of what had happened to him once he returned to his normal life, but forever cursed with transforming into a werewolf.

Holy Trinity's next product was the bestial Tigre. While stable and easier to control, Tigre was still primitive in design, another zooanthrope like the Edge before him. They employed him as brute force while seeking to create something closer to the original perfection they had in mind...

Super Makoto
Makoto has grown up and become Super Makoto, fighting villains wherever they cross paths and making new friends with all the superheroes, even as she ventures out into the world on her own.

Daryan has become the infamous Hairaiser, using his superpowers for his own ends, such as gathering more of the valuable Borginian Cocoon, especially since his supplies have been running low. His crime spree to gather money and information for the cocoons attracts the attention of various heroes, Super Makoto included.

But a challenger appears, someone else interested in gathering the Borginian Cocoon: El Mariachi Machi! Wielding his dual pistoles across the globe, he is on a mission to gather all the remaining cocoons for the noble purpose of producing more cures, and keep them out of the hands of nefarious villains such as Hairaiser. Eventually, Hairaiser and Machi come to an accord of sorts as they agree to work together to find more of the cocoons. Hairaiser is promised to have the atrocinine he needs to keep his powers in check before they consume him.

Eventually, their hunt for illegal stashes of Borginian Cocoons would take them back to Holy Trinity...

Meanwhile, the "Win a Date with Matt Engarde" sweepstakes were quite an adventure for Makoto. Entered on a lark, she never expected to actually win, let alone be taken with the charming actor Matt Engarde. The one date from the sweepstakes became a second, and then a third, and soon enough Matt was a regular part of Makoto's life (much to Takita's dismay).

Matt's true nature, however, would be revealed to be that of Repast, an unearthly creature that had not only increased strength but also energy-siphoning abilities and above all an unwavering obedience to its masters, limiting the need to use the atrocinine "kill switch" on his powers. Yes, the Holy Trinity had rigged the sweepstakes to place Matt Engarde in a choice position: the perfect channel for the Emperor Von Karma to sneak in his ultimate plan to undo Makoto...

I can't stop thinking about how awesome this idea is. Do you have any idea how distracting it is from my work?

In trying to focus on something else entirely, something occurred to me which made my love this idea any more - you notice that bracelet around Daryan's wrist? The one that's almost hidden by his sleeve? I picked up on it while doing a portrait of him, and at the time I figured it was just more jewelry, with a design possibly intended to hint at a handcuff.

But now that I think about it... is it just me, or does it look suspiciously like a medical bracelet?

*evil*

Also - I almost completely forgot about this, again. But there was a very minor idea I had regarding Hairaiser on top of this stuff...

It's not completely under his conscious control, basically, right?

For some reason, I can see unconscious thoughts accidentally getting relayed as actions to his hair. Usually just his hair sort of showing his feelings at the moment - kind of like how it already does, but more defined, like a stray lock pantomiming an emote - though if we wanted to, it could escalate into moments where he gets caught up in a daydream and then snaps out of it to find his hair's been acting it out.

... this is the sort of stuff that I only think of when I should be sleeping. Please feel free to ignore and return to discussing the cocoons. :yogi:

By the way, to prove I am a horrible human being: I firmly believe that Hotti should be like Hojo. And maybe, just to hint at this inside joke, Daryan's mother should be named Lucrecia Crescend?

Estuans interius, ira vehementi, estuans interius, ira vehementi... SHARKIROTH!

That bracelet looks more like a chain and plate in his pointing animation, but we can always parallel designs in SMako. :P

And... what kind of daydreams were you thinking about? Or need I guess?

Yes, the fact that it's a chain and plate is what I mean. If you google "medical bracelet", you'll see that's the exact design often used for steel medical bracelets, a chain and plate. See?

DIRTY ONES. Actually, no, I didn't have any specific examples in mind, it was just a general idea that crossed my mind.

Oh, right.

...Hmm. The wonders of examining evidence scientifically. I wonder why he never got it off, though?

Why would he want to? If it's a steel medical bracelet, it would be on his wrist to notify people about his condition in an emergency. It's something purely for his benefit, not the good doctors'.

I'm more curious what the symbol for the condition would be. Shame he's the only one who'd need a bracelet for it, since the others are stable.

Other implications of Holy Trinity:

Mimi Miney and Alita Tiala, assistants to Turner Grey and Pal Meraktis respectively, would have been coworkers at some point.

Mimi Miney, instead of a fatal medical accident, could have been assassinated by Grey because she became a liability to their experiments below Holy Trinity Hospital. This leads up to her transformation into Mime.

Alita Tiala could have murdered Pal Meraktis so she could usurp his position and become a part of the Holy Trinity. Being medical director and lead researcher would be a very profitable position, one that Grey may have wanted to prevent Mimi from getting herself... hence Alita planning to kill Meraktis before her aspirations were nipped in the bud.

This would mean that in present day SMako, the Holy Trinity would consist of Hotti, Turner Grey, and Alita Tiala. Eventually, Grey would be eliminated by Mime, and only Hotti and Alita would remain. As Hotti's experiments become more dangerous, Alita may turn against him, even recruiting the heroes and pretending to aid them while she really used them to help her infiltrate the depths of Hotti's laboratory and steal all his data for herself.

Another thing about Alita Tiala, if she's got all the money rolling in from being a hospital director and lead researcher at Holy Trinity, why should she date a lowlife punk like Wocky? Easy answer: Makoto. Wocky and Makoto are nearly inseperable. Alita needs to monitor Matt/Repast's progress with Makoto to make sure he stays under control. Alita tags along with Wocky to keep an eye on Makoto and Matt.

Imagine their double dates: Wocky is keeping an eye on Matt to make sure he doesn't do anything dishonorable with Makoto, Alita has the atrocinine killswitch device at the ready in case Matt gets out of control, Matt is doing his best to woo Makoto lest Alita pull the trigger, and Makoto is HAVING A WONDERFUL TIME.

New concept for Sadistress' origins, one that deals with the issues of Makoto's inability to create people and retaining Kristoph's evil persona as a unified, rather than split, personality.

In the midst of Kristoph's rage in the defendant's lobby, a frightened Makoto draws a small doorway for herself to escape. Kristoph, not wanting to lose a VIP in this manner, follows after her. Makoto commonly expresses herself through her artwork, so the doorway actually leads to a dream realm that reflects her feelings. For the most part she is scared of Kristoph and wants him to see this for himself.

In this realm, there is a magic mirror that can show the true nature of those who look into it. While chasing after Makoto, Kristoph sees himself in it - an evil, twisted dark creature. In his frustration, he throws his fist into it, shattering it and getting a shard of the mirror stuck in his hand. Disturbed by the fantastic nature of the place she has led him into, he continues after her.

Eventually Makoto and Kristoph return to the defendant's lobby, and Kristoph finally calms down as he ponders what the little girl was trying to tell him. He approaches her with a friendlier disposition, unaware of the power that had just taken up residence in his body...

(Unfortunately, this doesn't account for how this transgenderfiguration transfers to Konrad. Help? :< )

My theory is that Konrad already had a superpower - the power to copy his brother. This would have had subtle effects for his whole life but never manifested significantly until Kristoph had his own powers manifest.

It works with that 'echo' in his Japanese name, and allows him to not get directly involved in the connection between Makoto and Kristoph, since keeping that personal is best for their characters. The pink hair might also be more than just a way to help disguise his identity, too... could be symbolic for him trying to separate himself from his brother, be more of his own person.

This is also a very good reason for him to get along so well with Lydi.
