WHEW that was a fun recording session. :uramidn: XD I've got a few more goodies for you all than I expected:

First, we have the new version of "April May's Testimony." It took me SO many takes before I was happy with it - the new tempo took some getting used to. XD'
http://media.putfile.com/Lady-Vincira-- ... ew-Version

THEN just for fun, I recorded the song again in my natural voice. It sounds...a lot less sultry. XDDD
http://media.putfile.com/Lady-Vincira-- ... ural-Voice

Next up is my version of "The Objection Song." It's one of my personal favorite songs in the musical, so I just wanted to play with it. XDD I pretty much just used my normal voice for it, and did it in one take. XD'
http://media.putfile.com/Lady-Vincira-- ... ction-Song

Last but not least...my audition for Lotta Hart. XD'''' I was in the zone, so I figured I may as well play with it now. Southern accent + slightly stuffy nose = good times? XDD

Tell me what you think? XD <3

Lady Vincira! Those were all wonderful recordings! Thanks for making my evening!! :maya:

It was nice to hear another person sing The Objection Song, too! Sorry my voice doesn't sound very manly as Phoenix in that.. ^_^;; TB, maybe you wouldn't mind sending me a link to your audio as Phoenix so that I can put up a version that has you singing Nick instead of me? Though it has been a few months, so you might not even have that recording anymore... hm...

Haha, so, I know that I've been nothing but off-topic the past few weeks, and really haven't done much that's helpful or productive... but I have one other off-topic thing to ask about:

I've been weighing it around a lot in my mind, and I think I want to run for my school's NHS president. I'm writing my speech, but I want to flesh it out. I think one of my main problems is that I'm a naturally funny and carefree kind of person, so the fact that I'm even running seems like a joke in itself.

Anyway, now I'm appealing to all of you at this thread, pretty much all of whom I respect on an intellectual and creative level...

What qualities do I have or what abilities do I have that would be both necessary and unique from any other potential candidates? Or any other help or suggestions about what to put in my speech.

Or just suggestions in general.

And again, sorry to be off-topic, but it would really mean a lot if anyone would help me out.

Thanks!

How often do I say that I love you guys? :P

Well, Lady Vincira...wow...how can I put this... It's like my ears went parachuting into a beautiful bowl of song whilst a montage of awesomeness was in the background... That may be a slight exaggeration, bet close enough.

And actorman, good luck on that AP test.

Actorman: I didn't follow NHS much during my time in high school, but I did listen to some of the candidate speeches one year. They tend to be fanciful and high-strung, full of a lot of ideal and metaphor. The first one you hear sounds nice, and then they all start to sound a bit samey. The absolute most important thing, I think, is to make your speech different from the others so that it sticks in peoples' minds.

As for a possible theme, I can think of one idea ofif the top of my head. A core paragraph would probably sound something like this: "National Honor Society is known for two things: high grades, and community service. For those of us privileged with the honor of joining this society, it can be easy to make the mistake of thinking that because we are in NHS, we have already achieved greatness. That we are somehow inherently better than 'ordinary' students, perhaps even that we're perfect. But being in NHS isn't about being perfect. In fact, it's almost the opposite - being in NHS has nothing to do with being perfect, and everything to do with making mistakes. Because it's how you deal with those mistakes that matters - NHS is about recognizing that every mistake is an opportunity to learn something new, an opportunity to become better than we were before. Through our failures we can learn about ourselves and ensure that each day sees us stronger than the last. That strength, forged in the crucible of our past weakness, is the strength upon which the National Honor Society is built."

Whoops. I didn't really mean to write that much. Anyway, that would be a possible way to go, with a theme of "Mistakes only make us stronger." How that would relate to you specifically as a candidate is something you'd probably have to reinforce with examples from your own life.

I was a member of the NHS at my own school and... I don't even remember having a president. I guess we must have had someone as our president, but I don't remember who, let alone ever voting for them. :/

If we did have elections for a president, though, I would have voted for the student who I thought was most responsible and mature enough to handle running a club as renowned as the National Honors Society. On the other hand, a majority of the elections at our school were exaggerated popularity contests, so maybe focusing on your natural carefree and hilarious nature would be beneficial (I'd certainly use it in your speech). You should emphasize your amazing ability to multi-task, too (balancing 3 APs on top of this musical is no easy feat); not only is it a useful skill as club president, but it demonstrates that you can fit this into your academic career and still have some semblance of a life.

You know, one thing you could do to set yourself apart from the others is sing.... :will:

ETA: Listen to arimnaes, for he speaks great wisdom.

Good luck with both the speech and the last AP test!

Me as Phoenix in Objection Song

I find the best way to download from Putfile is to right click on the song bar itself, then save it to your desktop. It works in Firefox, at any rate.

As far as songs that stick out to me, I've always found The Objection Song very catchy and characteristic of the game (and the first case in general). It's also one of the songs that feels the most "complete" to me--i.e., doesn't seem like we'll need many (if any) tweaks to it.

I'm trying to upload The Samurai Always Wins' Accompaniment on Putfile...maybe it's a problem with the file itself, because Putfile isn't taking it. This is frustrating.

EDIT: OH WAIT NEVERMIND, HUR HUR

Wow. XD' Thank you, exaggeration or no!

I've seen from you important things: Creativity, dedication, and because it IS important - A SENSE OF HUMOR. I did something productive today! *dances*

So as far as I can tell, it was pretty much agreed that 1-3 would still be in the musical, but it would be condensed to two days, right?
Well, I did my best to hammer out how that would work today. There's only one part that I'm unsure what to do about, which is bolded for your convenience:
Spoiler: Wow, this is kind of long. Also, 1-3 spoilers, of course.
The original game script is here for comparison
Day One: Investigation – no change
Day Two: Trial – no change
(It’s not until this first trial day that Phoenix finds out about all the other people who were there, an important development in the case. Changing these two parts would require changing that fact.)

Day Two: Investigation –
-Maya and Phoenix visit Powers in the Detention Center.
-Go to Employee Area, talk to Penny, rip open the grate
-Go to Main Gate, talk some more to Penny
CHANGE: When talking about “The director, et al”, she mentions the incident but refuses to elaborate (“Oh, I probably shouldn’t have said that.”)
-Go to Dressing Room, talk to Sal
-Go to Studio Two, hear the noise in the trailer, proceed to freak out
-Go to Main Gate, talk to Oldbag
-Go to Employee Area, talk to Cody
-Go to Main Gate, get trailer key
-Go to Studio Two trailer, talk to Vasquez (Script song goes here)
-Go to Dressing Room, present Dee’s note to Sal
-Go to Studio One, get script
-Go to Studio Two, give script, talk to Dee, find out about monkey
-Go to Office, Mia shows up
-Go to Main Gate, trade keycard for trading card
-Go to Employee Area, see Cody
-Go to Dressing Room, talk to Cody
-Go to Trailer, trade with Penny (song: “A Diehard Fangirl’s Rant”)
-Go to Dressing Room, trade with Cody, talk to Cody, Gumshoe comes in, Mia says she has to go and “disappears”
CHANGE: This is the original end of the first day, but in this compressed version, Maya would just “reappear” and the day continues.
CHANGE: Penny comes into the dressing room
[PN: Oh, hello! I was just coming to clean the dressing room, since WP won’t be using it anymore…”
M: Wha!? What!? Why!? But WP's innocent!
PN: Yes, and I'm really grateful for all you've done. But…this week is the last episode of the Steel Samurai...
M: What!? Nooooooooooooooooo!
Talk -> “The last episode”
Talk -> “Studio policy”
Present -> Path to Glory
Talk -> Five years ago
(Basically, the only change is that they don't talk -> "Mr. Hammer")]
-Go to Main Gate, talk to Oldbag
CHANGE: In the original, they got Oldbag to talk by proving that Hammer stole the costume. Since they don’t know that Hammer was the one in the costume or that the crime happened at Studio Two yet, they have to get Oldbag to talk a different way. Any ideas?
-The rest of the day is the same: talk to Vasquez, Mafia shows up, Gumshoe saves the day

Day Three: Trial –
-Begins the same way, with Mia and Will in the lobby
CHANGE: Phoenix is pretty darn certain that Vasquez did it; he just doesn’t know how, since it supposedly took place at Studio One and the path was blocked.
CHANGE: After the opening statement:
[J: Very well. You may call your first witness, Mr. Edgeworth.
P: Objection!
The defense would like to request that the producer, Dee Vasquez, be called as a witness to testify as to what happened in the trailer that day!
J: Mr. Wright! This is highly unusual…
E: …And entirely unnecessary. The prosecution calls Mr. Sal Manella to the stand, to testify as to the actions of those in the trailer that day.]
CHANGE: There will need to be some small script changes, since Phoenix actually knows who did it. For example, after Sal’s first testimony, Mia would say, “Phoenix. Let’s start by picking this testimony apart. You know that Vasquez did it, so use this testimony to prove it!” or something.
-Sal’s testimony is the same
-Cody is called to the stand (song: “The Samurai Always Wins”)
-OH SNAP it was actually Jack Hammer in the suit and the murder happened at Studio Two?!
-Present sleeping pills
CHANGE: Instead of the trial being suspended for the day, a thirty minute recess is taken while the detectives analyze the bottle and the plate. During this time, Mia leaves and Maya comes back.
CHANGE: When the trial starts again, the results of the analysis are presented.
- Vasquez testifies. No more changes from here to the end.
Let me know what you think, and if there's any gaping plot holes that I missed.

Lady Vincira, I'm just about to listen to your recordings, so I'll edit this post once I have ^^
Edit: Fantastic! I love your April May voice. And it's so different from your normal voice! 0.o

*ahem ahem*

I AM DONE.

I AM COMPLETELY FINISHED WITH ALL CLASSES FOREVER. FOREVER.

Hooray!

In other news, very nice job with that compression, Arri. That's the sort of critical thinking we'll need to begin pursuing at this point. As for getting Oldbag to talk...well, it's tough to say since it's been awhile since I've played the first case. Would it be too much of a stretch for her to just blurt it out? Maybe it could be one of those accidental things ("Oops, I mean, uh...I don't know anything about that!").

What could Kemi be planning?

Hey, I just noticed something cute in I'll Be There.

Phoenix says as a caretaker he reeks, and fatherhood isn't his forte.

And about 3 years later he's Trucy's adoptive father ^_^

The first thing that came to my mind when I heard that verse was Trucy singing in a flashback duet with Nick in PW- The Musical 4.

Congrats on finishing school, TB! I'm getting there... unfortunately, I'm a little behind. I'm not very smart in the classroom, see. D:

Anyways, I'll give you two hints on what I'm planning.

1) The two accompaniments I asked for are for two ENTIRELY different things. One you'll see after next weekend, and the other you probably won't see for a good while, sadly.

2) It's probably not as extravagant as your talented little minds are thinking. Like, really. ;D

I am a pretty good writer, though I did steal the bowl thing from a youtube video called I love noodles. I think I might join the writing team once school is out though.

Also, TB, do you have any other links to that where I can download that accompany to Decree, because for me it says I need to buy quicktime pro before I can get it.

Heh, yeah, I thought of Trucy at that part too ^^ YAY IRONY.

Congrats, TB, and thanks! ^^ Well, ordinarily, I'd say it wouldn't be a problem for her to just blurt it out, as it's a very Oldbag kind of thing to do, but in the original script she's actually kind of calm at the point. She says she's "tired of holding it all in," and tells the story quite seriously. She also gives them the five-year-old photo, and that'd be kind of hard to do accidentally. But, that's just how it was in the original, and we don't have to keep to that necessarily! If everyone thinks it would work for her to blurt it out, then that's fine. Maybe she could drop the picture or something.

Hmm...or maybe, since they gave her the keycard to Studio One, she feels like she owes them, so she tells them about the incident when they ask. Though she did give them the trading card, so she probably wouldn't feel like she owed them...unless we changed that, so that they give her the keycard, she goes ambling off and accidentally drops the card, which they then pick up. So then she would feel like she owed them. Don't you just love streams of consciousness?

Arri--Nice job there with the script ideas. I agree: just what we need right now. ^_^ Idea: how about if we have Oldbag blurt it out by accident at first and THEN decide to tell the story seriously and show the photo (Just something she happened to bring along, *wink nudge*)? Would that work?

Edit: I'm a Prosecutor now! WHEEE! And now all the wasted time on these forums has caught up with me and I must finish my two papers tonight that are due tomorrow. -_- d'oh!

Hey guys! Plane rides and working out what I'm doing this summer haven't left me with a lot of time lately, but I don't feel right if I don't just sort of... make my presence known every couple of pages, hahaha. So just popping in to say I'm keeping up with the latest posts and loving it!
