Ermm.... We're not doing the fifth case. ^_^;; We're just doing the cases that are in the original GBA version, cases 1-4. (d'oh!)

I made some changes again to the Spanish translation. After going over it again and again in my head, I found some ways to make a couple syllables match better and a couple grammar mistakes. Anybody who speaks Spanish...?

I'm back. XD

Just some things I wanted to say:

ff3girl, JFA in Spanish made me laugh for some reason. Anything in another language other than English usually does.

Also the "Pasta Shop" Storyboards are great. ^^ Wish I could finish mine that fast. XD

Also, I've been drawing out my ideas from other songs that I'm not doing the storyboards for, becaus they were giving me more inspiration than "Trial By Fire." Especially "Awakening", I've had that stuck in my head for days now.

Spoiler: Concept Sketches

Color coded because I felt like it. Probably obvious what songs they're from, though.

Aw, thanks for the complements but these aren't exactly what you'd call the best example of what we're doing for this project. I was able to get them out fairly quickly because;

-It's a short song. That's part of why I finished these storyboards first.
-I sped through all my ideas and usually didn't even bother to erase things I messed up. The most time I spent on one panel was about 5-7 min. Most of the others were done in about 2.
-These are just concepts. I know they need a lot of work before they could be anything we actually use.

Besides, your stuff is super cute! I wanna see more of your TbF storyboards!:yani-fist:

(Edit: Typo)

Well, I kind of do the same thing, about 10 minutes a panel. I just run out of ideas really fast, and I'm really picky. Thanks, I'm glad you like it, anyway. :edgy:

Here's a little song I wrote called "Tell Mister Edgeworth". It takes place, I don't know, probably the first or second investigation day of Act IV. (Thus, the "I'm his lawyer, don't you know" line is optional.) It's Phoenix, Maya and the prison guard, and Phoenix is trying to talk to Edgeworth-but nobody is cooperating, and Phoenix is starting to get angry. It's not really sung, per se, but spoken rhythmically (like Bohemian Rhapsody, but slightly slower tempo, around 144 or so.) Background music is probably going to be a simple tuba/drums affair (like Sabre Dance sans melody), except during the "snappy/angry" portions, where it's just going to be an ascending/crescendoing marcato note on beat 1 of each bar. Each line is one bar, and for the most part, each syllable is an eighth note. Capitals denote emphasis/anger. People's lines usually start at the end of a bar, so that's why the spacing/line breaks look so odd.
Spoiler:
(Phoenix:)Hell-
o, is this by any chance,
The visitor's room? (Guard:)Yes it
is. What is your name, and who
would you like to talk to? (Phoenix:)My
name is Phoenix Wright, and I'll
talk to Miles Edgeworth. I'm his
lawyer, don't you know that? (Guard:)Very
well.(Guard walks off)
(Guard walks on, calmly:)I'm
sorry, but your client is in
questioning right now. (Phoenix-snappily:)So let him
out! (Guard-still calm:)I can't, 'cause he's in
questioning right now. (Phoenix-more snappily:)So let him
out! (Guard-slightly snappily:)I can't, 'cause he's in
questioning right now. (Phoenix-yelling:)SO LET HIM
OUT! (Guard-snappily:)I can't, and if you'd
LISTen, I would tell you that your
CLIent's answers to the questions
ARE of great importance to
THE investigation, BUT,
IF you insist, I shall
PUT in a request for a
BRIEF conversation to be
HELD within this room at the
END of the affair. (Phoenix-calmly:)Very
well.(Guard walks off)
(Guard walks on, calmly:)Mister
Edgeworth has informed me that he
does not wish to talk. (Phoenix-slightly snappily:)Ask him
why.(Guard walks off)
(Guard walks on:)The
man has simply said that he just
does not want to talk-(Phoenix-snappily:)Ask him a-
gain.(Guard walks off)
(Maya-worriedly:)Nick, I don't think this is
such a good idea-(Phoenix-snappily:)I think
so. (Guard walks on:)He has informed me that if
you continue asking, then he
will be invoking his right to
self-representation.
(Phoenix thinks)
(Phoenix-angrily:)Please
tell Mister Edgeworth to go
represent himself, for all I
care. (Guard)Very
well.
(Guard walks off)
(Maya-more worriedly:)Nick, I don't think that you should
argue with the man-(Phoenix-more snappily:)I'll handle
this.
(Guard walks on:)Mister
Edgeworth has informed me that
that's what he plans to do.
(Phoenix thinks)
(Phoenix-more angrily:)Please
tell Mister Edgeworth he's a
backstabbing weasel. (Guard-still calmly:)Very
well.
(Guard walks off)
(Maya-even more worriedly:)Nick, I really think that this
won't be any help-(Phoenix-even more snappily:)I think it
will.
(Guard walks on)
(Guard-still calmly:)Mister Edgeworth has informed me you're an
idiotic dodo.(Phoenix writes something down on a sheet of paper and hands it to Guard)
(Phoenix-becoming even more angry with each line:)Please
GIVE Mister Edgeworth my pen-
ULtimate rebuttal which
I have written down be-
CAUSE it contains language that I
WOULDn't use out loud in
FRONT of this young girl (Maya-interrupting:)Hey! (Phoenix-ignoring Maya, and yelling:)Or in
FRONT of a poLICEman like your-
SELF. (Guard-still remaing calm:)Very
well.(Guard takes the paper and walks off)
(Maya-condescendingly by now:)Nick, I really think that you're just
making it all worse-(Phoenix-yelling:)I SAY I'M
NOT.(Guard walks on)
(Guard-still remaining calm:)Mister
Edgeworth has informed me that be-
cause of your persistence and out-
right determination, he will
grant your request for a
brief conversation to be
held within this room at the
questioning's conclution. (Phoenix-relieved:)Thank
God. (Guard-snappily:)However, that e-
vent has not yet happened. Until
then, Mister Edgeworth is
unable to talk. Good
bye.(Guard is about to shut the window)(Phoenix-relieved:)Please
thank Mister Edgeworth. (Guard-calmly:)Very
well.(Guard shuts the window and walks off)

I'd post a demo, but my microphone is being crap.

Here's a link that should have it. This is in TriforceBun's sig.

Oboewan--Funny idea for a song! Possibly could be some could comedic relief during some of those tense parts in the 2nd act. Though we do have "Gotta Be The Butz!" and "Guy You Can Trust" for comedic relief too.. hm...

Even if you think your mic isn't very good, why don't you record it just so we have a more clear idea for how it sounds? I'm curious. ^_^

WOW 116 Pages?(that is less then I was promised on the site, Over 9000, can the forum even handle that much epic?)
But its still a lot, I think my last post in this topic was on what, Page 64?(the one where I ranted about how terrible I was it was filled with self-loathing?)
Anyways, all of these new songs are amazing!
I definitely think that after its over, the cast call should be done with a reprise of Pasta shop XD.
That or the obvious overture that changes to each song depending on the character(like in what, every musical ever made? except the ones with specific Cast Call Songs, like Green eggs and ham in Suessicall)

Anyways, Considering how complex the average human mind is the weirdest things come to mind in the most unrelated times.
I FINALLY got T&T in the mail and as soon as I saw the cover I thought "Hmm, when the Phoenix Wright musical project reaches Apollo Justice would it start out with a quick rendition of Case 5 from the first game so Ema Skye existing makes sense?" and then while I was playing it, I thought about how if Case 1-3 WAS taken out how it would have to be stuffed at the beginning of the second Phoenix wright musical or else the entire overarching plot would fall to pieces"
And now that I'm typing this I think of how the perceive system would be rendered in a musical.
Man the human mind is weird.

Anyways, It took me about an hour to listen to all the NEW(to me) songs, and considering that was only about half of them, I'm not sure if there is room for anymore songs in this musical! unless you turn it into an opera.

Just some random rant about how amazed I am with this project.
Kay had two daddies. Trucy had THREE daddies. Clearly Trucy is the winner.

I really like Tell Mister Edgeworth! It made me giggle. :3 Can't wait to hear a demo~! I don't even mind if you use a lame mic, because I want to hear. x3 (I will, however, probably be like "I NEED TO BUY YOU A NEW MIC".)

By the way, anyone that's saving up for a new mic, I'll say this again: Expensive =/= Good. The worst mic I've ever had was $40, and the mic I use now was $15 at Wal Mart (though it has since inflated to $20, I hear). You don't need an expensive mic! You just need a headset mic from Radio Shack or Wal Mart. Logitech and Radio Shack are my preferred brands.

In other news, I thought of an opening scene. (It came to me in a dream the other night... after I had stayed up until 12:30 watching all three Indiana Jones movies back to back. Damn the Sci Fi Channel.)

Spoiler:
Cindy Stone: Hello everyone, and welcome to the *insert acting troupe name here* production of the Pop Drivel musical *insert name of musical here*, based on the video game "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" by Capcom. Before we begin, I'd like to read a few announcements:

About the comic relief: I felt that the fourth act really needs one of those get-the-audience-going numbers. It just seems like the entire act is, for the most part, a bunch of people sitting around and being emo.

Posting to say I'm alive!

And I like that intro for the musical idea! I'm sure we can rework some of it to make it mesh perfectly with what we are trying to do.
I don't think language will be a problem, we have been making sure we don't have any so that we won't have to worry about people not wanting to use language.

I just had an Indiana Jones/Star Wars trilogy(IV,V,VI)/Jurassic Park marathon with my grandmother and a projector my dad let us borrow.
Good times... good times...

That was also something originally done very early on and it wasn't really fully finished from what I remember.
Plus I remember it being said that we wanted to try to make sure this could potentially be something the entire family would be able to enjoy.

Ugh, I hate that I'm so off-topic, but I have to do it one last time (last? yeah right).

So... remember that NHS speech? I got a rough draft that's going through some cuts and edits and everything, but I thought it'd be nice if I let you all critique it, you know?

So... here you go!

Spoiler: National Honor!
This is going to be an interesting speech, I can tell. I had originally joked around with the idea of me running for president because it was kind of nonsensical–due to being in three out of the four shows in the theater season last year, I had a sub-par attendance rating and often missed out on the events. However, the more I thought about it... the more I realized that my intentions weren’t a joke. They were completely serious. This organization is important to me, and its message is important to me: to take the exemplary members of our school community, and give them the ability to be leaders to the rest of the student body.
As your NHS president, I would respect that distinguishing trait. A lot of people think that we are in NHS because we are inherently better than the average student, that we’ve already achieved greatness. But that’s not why we’re here. NHS isn’t about being better than anyone else. It’s about leadership ability and being able to connect with your community, band them together, and do things that really matter. That is why we’re great, not because of our academic prowess or our artistic talent; our ability to create greatness as a team.
That would be my number one policy: teamwork. We work as a team, we act as a team, and we grow as a team. Therefore all meetings would be communal–everyone works together, and everyone’s voice is heard. Every single person’s opinion is important to me, because, as NHS is built on cooperation, everyone should have an equal say and everyone’s opinion matters. Every bit of contribution from every member is considered. Of course, on the other hand, I would expect teamwork, cooperation, and most of all, respect to all fellow members from everyone. But I don’t think that’s an awful lot to ask. It’s your NHS as much as it is mine, and together, we can make it great.
Now I’ve probably preached enough, and you can probably tell how much this means to me, and now we’re in the home stretch: need something tangible? Basically, my ideas are thus: we’re going to hang onto our staples like Teacher vs. Teacher Basketball Game, and Teacher Talent Show. But why let the teachers have all the fun, right? There’s so much room for more student activity. A Student Talent Show, for example. So often we’re caught up in fundraising that we never get to participate ourselves, and we all have so much talent that we could use for benefitting others, why don’t we tap into it more often? I’ve also heard that many people have opportunities for outreach programs, like the Maryland School for the Blind program that several of our peers have been involved in, or that awesome STAR program at St. Vincent’s. Of course, I would be more than happy to keep these ties and create others.
I see next year’s NHS as a great opportunity to take everything from this year, and just let it expand, while allowing ourselves to be open enough to create new opportunities for members and just further expand the scope of what we do. And while I covered my downfalls, I feel that if I can’t be honest with you, how can I expect you to trust me as your NHS president? Ultimately, NHS is important to me, and you all are important to me, and I would be honored to be your NHS president.

Hi. I applied to write for this thing via the popdrivel website, and apparently I'm on the team now, so I expect I'll be hanging around this thread for a while. :)

This is very exciting, isn't it?

NEW SONG: "I'm the Bellboy."

The Bellboy is singing. He tries to make it sound like a big musical number. But Phoenix keeps interrupting him.

Spoiler:
Phoenix(spoken): So what's your name?

Bellboy: I'm just the bellboy.

Yes I'm the bellboy at the Gatewater Hotel
The bellboy at the place that's really swe-

Phoenix (spoken): HOLD IT!
I just want to ask you a few questions... first, what are your thoughts on the whole affair?

Bellboy: I'm just a bellboy...

And I don't think my opinion counts for much
And I'm all shook up by all this murdering and such
And for the victim I have the greatest sympathy
But you've got to admit, it's great publicity
For the Gatewater Hotel, the Gatewater Hotel
It will be known as a place that's really swell
It will be known as the place that's really hot
The perfect vacation or murder planni-

Phoenix (spoken): HOLD IT!
Um... that's enough. Anyway, this guy... Have you ever seen him before?

Bellboy: Yes, I've seen him...

This man checked in that night with Witness April May
But I didn't see him again at all that day...

Phoenix (spoken): All right, all right... Can I get that in writing?

Bellboy: Sure...

'Cause I'm the bellboy.

Yes I'm the bellboy who will write the affidavit
I believe in your case and I think that I can save i-

Phoenix (spoken): Thank you.

Bellboy: I haven't finished yet!

Yes I hope that I can get my recognition
As a man whose statement helped the contradiction
And helped put the rightful murderer in jail
And as a man whose testimony never fails
I'll get money, fame, a spot in the next game, even my own name...

But, until then, I'm just a bellboy.

IT'S CALVINBALL!!!

Phear my calvinball mask.

Haha... you do have funny ideas, Oboewan. XD I think you wrote the bellboy's character very well, too. I remember him wanting to be more important than he was.

Here's what worries me,though... ^_^;; We already have a very similar joke song for Grossberg by Actorman and Pooleterson--Scent of Fresh Lemons. I'm afraid it might be too similar. <_<

Aw, ff3girl, who cares? :3 I think we should write and create as MANY songs as we possibly can, and some will make it into the musical, and some won't, and then every single one can go onto a Director's Cut soundtrack. :)

Oboewan, nice song. :D

Whoopsee, just realized I had been reading and not posting! Anyone else ever have that happen? But hey, first off, you guys have no idea how super-happy the compliments about the "I'll Be There" recording made me! Seriously, I love you guys.

See if it were a french of german translation I'd be able to help you... but no espanol for me.

I've got a MacBook, so my mic is built in. It's pretty good quality I think. Now I'm not saying to switch computers to get a good mic, haha, but if you're in the market for a laptop that's certainly a perk for the Macs.

I love the silly YouTube video....... a lot. :will: And MasumeSakura, your Maya is A-DORABLE!

Regarding the Bellboy gag song, I guess basically I'd say take a listen to the Grossberg gag song, and if you feel like it could be different enough, go for it! It's on Actorman's putfile so I don't have the precise link...

EDIT:
Found it!

I do that ALL THE TIME, Pooleterson XD I'm constantly lurking on this thread, but I kind of forget to post my reactions >>

I think I just might be obsessed...yesterday, I wrote the word "letter" on my hand to remind myself to get something signed, and then when I noticed it half an hour later, the first thing I thought of was Maya's line, "I let him take the letter", from "Tomorrow's Trial". AND IT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A DEMO YET ASJKHGUYHGFTR. I fear for my sanity, really.

In other news, been working on the storyboards as well as recording stuff. Masume, you make the most adorable Maya ever! Why couldn't I have been born with a cute voice?! ;_; Also, oboewan, I'm quite fond of your intro idea, especially for a live performance, and I hope you can get a demo of "Tell Mr. Edgeworth" up soon, because I like the lyrics but I'm having a lot of trouble imagining it.

Anyway, back to work...

And here is Diana after a sick day where she didn't go to school!

She was very bored, you see...So she auditioned for every female character in the musical. 'Cept Oldbag.

...and also for one of the male ones.

For the lulz. In order of appearance:

Cindy Stone-
The Opening Written by Oboewan

I thought that was just too funny and I HAD to do it. xDD Hope you like it, Oboewan!

Larry Butz-
It's Gotta Be the Butz!
Lines

Just for the lulz, but it IS a serious audition. I can't tell whether or not I sound male, so I'll let you be the judge. I do think I'm a pretty epic jury, though.

April May- (because everyone was doing it xD)
April May's Testimony
Lines

I'm not a very good April, I just couldn't resist. xD I love being...sultry.

Penny Nichols-
Lines

Just 'cause I can.

Dee Vasquez-
Lines

I had "Script" recorded, but I didn't listen to it when I was mixing, so the background music eats me alive. Buuuut there's plenty of me singing in the world. You don't need that. :3

Lotta Hart-
Redneck Woman (I recorded this a really long time ago, I swear! XD)
Lines

This was suggested to me, actually, I didn't plan to. xD And I recorded that Redneck Woman before I saw it on the thread. It's been sitting on my Putfile for a while. xD

Polly-
Lines

I'm...not the best parrot.

Sooo...yeah. That was a long post. :O If you got through all that, good for you.

Yes, yes, very true... but maaaaybe we could try to concentrate our song-writing skills for areas that still need songs. I know there's not many left, but I think the trials in particular might fit more songs. I don't think :yogi: :sal: :snap: :sawit-2: :bellboy: :redd: :eh?: or :lotta: have songs for their testimonies, and a lot of the testimony songs we have right now are still in the very early stages. I know we don't want all the testimonies to have songs, but this is one area where I believe there is more room for some composing to happen without having to compete with so many other songs... if that made sense?

Diana---nice job reading that intro.. haha... me likey. I am impressed with how low your alto range can go in Gotta Be The Butz! 0_0 You almost sound like a tenor in some of spots of the song. Nice harmony in the choir at the end, too! ^_^ You sounded like you were having a lot of fun in the April May song! (ooh-la-la) The extra 'ooh!' at the end nicely punctuates the whole thing.. heehee

@ff3/lalalei: Thankya for your feedback! <3 The "ooo" in April May (at the end) was when she allegedly "loosens up her top" in the song--at least, that's where I pictured it. xD And yes, I actually used to be a tenor. :O I played a loooooot of males back when...But it's been forever and Larry's a hard guy to do. I'm better at manly men. x3

Also, 10 points to the first person who can tell whose voice I was somewhat imitating in my Cindy Stone reading. It's kinda subtle and it's not the same all the way through, buuuuut I believe in you guys. :3

Also...French? Whatever are you talking about? ...>.>
<.<

Spoiler: This isn't a French translation.

That's only halfway done and I probably made a lot of mistakes (I'm only in French 1), but I needed to practice my French...So yeah. If you want me to finish I will...? I'm sure there's a bunch of people on this thread that are much better at French than I am, though (Clarounette, I know you're a native speaker xD). So if anyone wants to edit and finish that off they're more than welcome to!

Mmmmh... Yes, there are a lot of mistakes. But I know verbs are difficult in French.
I might try to translate it, but not tonight.
And I'll listen to your recordings tomorrow too, Diana :edgy:

Yeah, I was going to try a French or German translation (I'm in French IV and German I, but I took German for nearly five years when I lived in Switzerland...backstory lolwhut?!) But then I remembered that we've got Clarounette, who's a native French speaker, and I remember hearing somewhere that Ethed's from Germany...? Anyway, that pretty much killed any confidence I might have had in my translating skills XD

Anyway, haven't had time to listen to all your recordings, Diana, but I loved the ones I did hear! I'll listen to the rest tonight/tomorrow.

EDIT: Whyyyy does the thread die after I post? :larry:
