SPOILER ALERT! I DID WARN YA IN THE TITLE!
Terry was being used by Dahlia-you could just tell. Like Celeste Inpax was being used by Matt. Like, first of all, I think Dahlia knew that Terry would drink the bottle anyways. She knew of the murder plot, since she knew Valerie arranged to meet with him at Dusky Bridge. So, she kills Valerie before Terry comes, and is already on the bridge. Now, in the fake kidnapping, she purposly jumped off the bridge just to keep the millions to herself. When her identity was revealed at the end and she was accused of killing Valerie and Terry was testifying, it's no wonder he felt that he betrayed her. Because he was testifying, and that was bad for Dahlia, even if he said that it wasn't Dahlia who he met on the bridge. Mia even proved Dahlia was on the bridge instead of Valerie. I just feel bad for Terry...

But then I felt reeeeally bad for him when she said that no one had taken his case...then I was like "Aww, he's cute and sweet and stuff."
And at the end I teared up. Didn't think I would, but I did.
Terry didn't deserve anything that happened to him.

One question I had though: how in the world did Terry manage to pull off being a tutor? ^^;; If I was looking for a tutor for my daughter, I would've made sure they could at least speak properly...

I was spoiled about the ending, so the in whole episode I felt sorry for Terry all the time
he trusts Dahlia too much, but that's exactly why Dahlia used him in the first place... Terry doesn't deserve any of that.

"she was alive when I left! she was alive! it-it's true!" A lot of explanation marks but competant english and grammar.
second meeting in the lobby "Wrong! No protect sister! Valerie betray me! Betray us!" "Dahlia's family rich. Jewelry business. We get one jewel...That's what we thought... Me and Dahlia wrote kidnap note. We send to her dad. Asked for 2 million dollar diamond. Tell him make exchange on Dusky Bridge. ...We tell him Valerie make transfer 'cause she new detective."
just ugh, seems that talking about Dahlia seems to make him talk like Tarzan or something.

I wonder if his dialogue in the Japanese script was any different? Croik once commented that she thought he came across as less caveman-y in the original but she wasn't sure.

Right about now I'd post a dump of awesome art for one of my fav characters, but there isn't much...

a) A little mentally off. or

I doubt you could get a speech impediment from a few years in jail, but sice he was all alone...

To be honest, I've never had sympathy for Terry. I don't know if the original or the localization really intended for you think of him as mentally challenged, but I never got that impression. So when you put that aside, you have a 20 year old man who was planning to elope with his 14 year old "student."
I guess you'd have believe he was mentally challenged not to find that at least a little creepy (or even REALLY creepy). Also, illegal.
Of course, he didn't deserve what happened to him by any stretch of the imagination. But even if Valerie had told the truth from the start, he was still guilty of trying to con a man out of millions of dollars. I find it hard to believe he didn't at least understand that faking a kidnapping and then staging a ransom collection is wrong: he was able to describe the plan to Mia well enough.
"Dahlia tricked him" can only work as an excuse for so many things... B:

You can't forget just how Manipulative Dahlia is, though. It doesn't account for everything, but it does explain a lot.
