Even though Capcom confirmed it, I must admit I can't help but get this feeling of shananigans.
This game...this concept....it just seems so unreal. Like something a fan would think of. Not in a million years did I think a game like this would come out...yet...
Its like if they remade FFVII as a special version where you play the whole game as Sephiroth from his perspective. Fans would crap themselves...

I still can't believe it though. Never before have I seen a game come out in a series that's surprises people with how fanservicy it is. Its like when Snake was introduced into Smash Brothers, all bets are off.
Furthermore with the advent of further GS news later this month, damn its a good time to be a GS fan. Holy crap!

And this is why we don't feed the dumb fandoms. Phoenix Wright is a good fandom, so it deserves the fanservice it gets.

Out of all my games I've ever played, I can't think of a single one aside from the AA games where after I beat it, it not only can get no harder, but it loses all elements of skill (save for a memory of the last time you played it), had no customization, etc. and I'll still be loving my next playtroughs just for the story alone.
I think Capcom understands that about us, and I just hope they are treating Edgey right and give him a good story and not just call it good at “You get to be Edgeworth, Yayz!”

Really, because after I saw the trailer I got really excited.
(not in that way! get your mind out of the gutter!)
I love the AA series - but I love the writing more. Final Fantasy has found all sorts of different gameplay mechanisms to use that story. A different sort of gameplay for the AA series means new stories, new concepts, new gameplay. This is all good. If GS4 proved anything to me it's that the concept is getting a little tired (to me, the perceive system wasn't exactly a radical new use of the DS and the DS stuff in 1-5 was better than the whole of GS4) but the writing is still great.
Same quality writing but new concept = WIN, to me at least.

OP is right though -- it does seem particularly fanservice-y, kind of like an April Fool's joke (like that stupid LoZ movie my friends wouldn't shut up about). I'm kind of concerned how the series will keep up it's well known twisted story lines if there's no court phase...

I really, really hope the whole "NO COURT SCENES LOL!" is just a joke so when the game comes out it's extra epic, I've been praying for that since I heard it was solely investigation.

However, I don't think this game will be like those at all. I keep thinking of it as a detective game, with a markedly different style and new gameplay elements. So to me it seems like that would be awesome! The focus may be more on solving a mystery rather than fighting to prove a particular person guilty.
