Some of you may remember me from the "New Casemaker" topic.

I decided to open this topic to clarify stuff about PWLib and give a complete explanation of it.

PWLib is a casemaker I'm working on using an engine I'm developing (named AIGE). PWLib is a script in library-format for AIGE, so AIGE can be used with it to create PW games.
Differently from the other casemakers around, PWLib doesn't come with a cute, user friendly editor. You program directly in AIGE's language using PWLib commands, thus it gives you total control of the results (you don't have sections, but just a linear code. So you're not limited to call examines at only the court, for example). In other words, it is an advanced casemaker, but still easy to medium to learn how to use AIGE's language (AHLSL).

An editor might come out if there is enough need for it (user requests).

AIGE's PWLib Casemaker Preview:
http://www.ksatechnologyhq.com:1357/aigeimg/pwlibdem.png (updated: April 10)
New - Reorganized and retook all shots with latest build.

There is also a video if someone wants to have a look.

I hope this clarifies what PWLib is. Feel free to ask any questions about it.

PWLib Hayase Released. (PWLib Internal 1.0)

Last Notes:
- Update Your Video Card Drivers (this is mandatory. MS Drivers and Old Drivers may cause AIGE to fail.)
- Install DirectX 9.0c (to get d3dx dlls)
- Install Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 SP1 Redistributable (search on ms site)
- Read the tutorial http://www.ksatechnologyhq.com:1357/pwlib/PWLib_in_a_Nutshell.pdf

Please define "won't work". And have you actually made a script and tested it, or just run AIGE.exe?

You mean AIGE.exe?

Sounds like you don't have a program to open .rar files. If so: http://www.rarsoft.com. Get Winrar.

Not found GFX. You need to make your own buttons GFX. The setvars with the 90000's numbers set the graphic for the buttons.

You need to use a valid image. Try putting PW/ElisePhoto.png.
I don't recall witch font i used to make the tutorial ones (as I did it aaages ago).

Ah, the autoloader is working. Now you can put the script files (no subfolders!) on the auto folder and AIGE will automatically load them for you. So no more "edit startup.aigehls" required.

The Debug Program Roadmap

1) Try to make AIGE run for thosewho got a "Needs to close" issue (Donald Serrot, etc). Those who had this issue, please, contact me. I have an exe to test.

2) Try to make AIGE render textures for those who could run AIGE and PWLib but got wrong textures (white boxes, etc)

Great.

-------------
What is currently new in the intern exe of AIGE:
1) Unified EXE for both Simple and Accelerated text renders. No more AIGE_S. Configurable using the config file.
2) Automatic Script Loading. Scripts placed on the auto folder will be automatically loaded by AIGE. No need to use startup process.

What is new in the intern version of PWLib
1) Initialization doesn't show fps counter while loading.
2) Inclusion of Serio's Franziska Set to the Character Standard Set.
3) Fixed issue with Ema's excited pose.

First you need to fins witch video card you have.
Control Panel, on Display.
Then you go to the appropriated site and on Support/Driver Updates (or something similar). Select your video card model and you will download a package. install the package and ta da, you have updated video drivers.

Sorry if this has been asked, dealt with, or is in the tutorials (I didn't see it) -

Is there any way you can just release a compilation of sample code and code alone? Not within the tutorials? It'd help as a quick check (did I do this right? I don't want to find the right page out of 104 pgs) and as an example of a working program so we can check our own stuff against a finished game segment.
(also, FWIW, I learn through looking at others' code and screwing with it until I get something that works. I know a lot of programmers do, too. I don't have patience for tutorials alone unless there's a weird function I can't figure out on my own. It could turn out that I need the tutorials, but it's easier for me to figure that out myself.)

Obviously, if you don't want to open-source your PWLib code, I can appreciate that, but I'd do much better if I had a sample case. I don't care so much about investigation if you don't have that written out yet.

I have tuto code for tutos 0 to 10 from Basic and Court 06.

The tutos from 0 to 10 aren't ok with the new evidence format, so I didn't release it yet.
BTW, on the tuto's 0 to 10 basic there is a complete source for the game until that point. You can use that reference for now.

It's me - the installer guy. Wine works with text objects for me, but not with the pwfont. I think wine can't "see" it. I've got a graphic up of it working.

Works on my OpenSUSE Factory (11.0 RC 1) with the latest Wine and following my tutorial.

My installer uses NSIS and creates a folder on the desktop. It downloads and unpacks the pwlib rar file and downloads the PDF of in a nutshell if requested. As such the installer is VERY small, but does require access to the internet to run. I'm also planning to provide an updater, which does pretty much the same, but rewriting registry entries and only downloading changed files, as well as an "offline" version containing everything, but less up-to-date.
I will not be releasing my installer until PWLib (I had a chat with KSA_Tech) is more stable.

If anyone wants Vista UAC support, please either PM me or contact me via IM.

New AIGE.exe released at 16/June/2008.

http://www.ksatechnologyhq.com:1357/pwlib/aige_latest.rar

This exe makes AIGE_S obsolete.

What's New
1) Unique exe with support for both text renders. To use Simple, edit the 3rd line of the config.cfg to Simple. For Accelerated, use Accelerated.
2) Automatic script loading. Create a folder named "auto" and any script you put inside will be loaded automatically.
3) Ability to force pow2 resizing. To force, use Force on the 4th line of the config.cfg. For normal, use Normal.
4) New Direct3D initialization code. May work for those with issues.
5) New Texture loader. May solve some issues.

I'm having an odd issue with this newest release. Trucy's name box shows up as ??? for me. Did you change her name box function name?

Worked fine with the very first EXE you released:
