I disagree. I think she's still cute. I think this is an example of good dubbing. Unlike when 4kids does things like this, there's actually a reason for doing this, it's to symbolize how she's from the south.
Also watch the whole of an English dub before judging it. Azumanga Daioh has a good English dub.
