How would they work?

When you you decide what to do and can you prep your witness before hand to say what you want them to say?

And remember its only a "what if" question

Perhaps you have to use the stylus to rearrange Miles' face into his most fierce interrogation face to 'persuade' the witness to tell the truth on the stand.

I think it would be like, the defense has witnesses and you have to cross-examine them. I mean, actual courts do it.

That would be kind of odd in this game series... since we have grown used to defense attorneys doing the cross examination.

But most of the time you end up having to prove another person's guilt... Like a prosecutor. I often start to think, "This is how it would feel to play as Edgeworth, I know that."

Thats true, I guess it would be different in a way, a slight difference that could possibly change into a new experience. I dont think we'll ever know until they release info on the court scenes.

I want to (if there are court scenes) be able to present forged evidence and updated autopsy reports, tell witnesses what things to skip over/keep vague, that kind of thing. :karma:

I was kind of thinking the same thing, except for the forged evidence, but that would make it even better :gant-clap:

Spoiler: 1-5, 4-4
He presented forged evidence unknowingly in the SL-9 case (basically the same thing that happened to Phoenix, except Edgeworth even got his from a trustworthy source). In 1-5, he says how forging is against his moral code, which he follows strictly or something.

Ahh... yes, thank you for reminding me.

that would indeed be an interesting way to put it. Like, there should be more than one way to win a trial? That would be very cool, and maybe one could get different endings... only if it were real. :odoroki:

Yeah. I'm pretty sure it was just "rumors" that he forged evidence. When he was the "Demon Prosecutor" and all. :edgy: Ah, Bratworth. XD

Isnt that what everyone wishes for in the new game? well... I guess not everyone, but a lot of people are expecting to beat some kind of defense attorney.

I can't figure out how the courtroom could work...considering AA has always been linear, it'd feel like a cheat telling witnesses to say one thing and one thing only. They'd have to give it a slight bit of variance and a penalty system so that even if you screw up on feeding your witness you can keep on the right track.

...but the whole storyline that's developed around Gyakusai has been focusing more on how those sorts of tactics are BAD for getting to the truth :| Since Gyakuten Kenji takes place after 3-5, Edgey's character shouldn't be so...unscrupulous is too strong a word, but you know what I mean. Coaching witnesses to hide the truth and all...I'm pretty sure Edgey doesn't do that nearly as much as he used to.

Also, it's still a "turnabout" game, even if you are the prosecutor - and how's Capcom going to deal with the "turnabout"? I don't think the prosecution can just randomly switch defendants, and knowing when the case is le fail against the current defendant, and "resting", isn't climactic enough.

Final note: how much say does a prosecutor have in a case, anyway? I know these are state trials, but are the prosecutors appointed through bureaucratic circles or do they choose the cases they want to take?

Edgeworth was unknowingly presenting a forged evidence however this whole case is filler

and about the courtroom gameplay, I bet its probably something like this.

-When the defense attorney is making his cross examination, when he slips up, theres probably an objection button and you point out the contradiction of his statement. Sort of like a defense attorney cross examination.

-Like in certain instances you point out certain impossibilities and proof that something happened or support the witnesses testimony just like in Phoenix Wright.

You probably have to find evidence then present it whenever the defense screws up or says something objectionable. In the Ace Attorney, the prosecution doesn't seem to do much but talk coolly or like object when the defense messes up. It seems to me that the prosecution doesn't seem to do much at all. I sure hope the Gyakuten Kenji will show the actual works of the prosecution. :edgy:

I personally am really hoping that there will be trial scenes, if only because I want to see Miles facing off against Kristoph so badly. A righteous prosecutor duking it out with a corrupt defense attorney? Now that's my kind of game.

This is probably why there's an emphasis on the crime scene itself instead of the courtroom - the Prosecutors in the AA world seem to have to do everything in terms of preparation. Keep in mind that the burden of proof in these courts is on the defense, and it's not very satisfying to have the person who was accused be guilty without resorting to some odd tricks, so I'd say that court scenes are unlikely.

However, if this game does feature courtroom portions, I think it should introduce the Direct Examination system, where you choose which witnesses to bring to trial and which questions to ask them to testify about. The defense will then refute the weaker arguments, in which Edgeworth will present evidence to respond. The trial ends when the defendant is proven guilty by concession.
No, I seriously don't have anything else to put here besides a link that gets me rewards when people click on it.

Hmmm... yes, it's a "Turnabout" title still, but they cant make a game EXACTLY like PW but the other way round (if you see what I mean).
