I did a few takes and finally got a semi-decent recording for Justice for All:
link - I'll keep working on it though, I'm not as happy with it as I could be. Still new to Audacity so it took a few tries (and botched recordings) to get a recording at all. I plan to work on the Steel Samurai theme next, as well as continuing to work with Justice for All.

You have a lovely voice, Rose! I can't wait to hear more from you. On a related note, where did you get a higher version of the JfA accompaniment?! I require a copy at once! If, you know, you don't mind?

Also, would anyone be up for a Teamspeak weekend? I figure it's been awhile since the last one (not that I was actually there for it), and it might actually help get some ideas moving...

Teamspeak weekend could be fun. Be a nice chance to talk to some new people (since the last weekend was ages ago, and before several people joined in). And seeing as I'm like an old man in this thread, I'd sure like to meet the young'uns!

I'd like to do that, but I don't know what a teamspeak is! :D

Also, depends when you do it, 'cause I work at different times all weekend. :P

Thank you. :)
I just tweaked the JFA accompaniment up a key (2 half steps) in Audacity. I was having trouble hitting the lowest note and making it sound nicer than a grumble so I raised it just a bit.
EDIT: Another recording: Steel Samurai Theme - it's a bit campy but it was fun to do.

I was there for the last "Teamspeak Weekend." I put that in quotes because it ended up being just lalalei and myself for the entire day, and we exhausted Phoenix Wright-related topics after a while and ended up having to talk about fourth edition DnD of all things.

So don't hold out on us this time people! :zenitora:

You have a very clear and precise voice, Rose. I like it. Just one thing for any future version of JfA you might do: the T in "rapport" is silent, hence why it's rhymed with "war" in the lyrics.

I don't know about the Teamspeak Weekend for me. I do have some things planned already (family coming in from out of town, haven't seen them in about a year) but I really would like to connect with ya'll soon!

Don't worry, Rose, I did the exact same thing when I first recorded it ^^ And I had no idea you could change the key in Audacity 0.o Thanks, that's a huge help! I'm definitely going to record it again, now that fully it's in my range.

I should definitely be able to be on Teamspeak on Saturday, and part of Sunday. Should be fun!

Yeah, you'd think after seven years of French I'd be able to speak it fairly well, but noooooo >> I can really only form coherent sentences if I work it all out in my head before I say it. Sigh. But we'd love to have you on Teamspeak, Clarounette! ^^

In other news, Here's my new JfA recording. I had to move it four half-steps up, to the key of A, just to be able to sort of properly hit those low notes. Obviously I'm not meant to be Mia >>
And just for the heck of it, I also recorded lalalei's JfA for Dahlia. There's multiple obvious mistakes that I didn't feel like taking the time to fix, because it really was just for fun. There's also HUGELY ENORMOUS SPOILERS FOR 3-5, so if you haven't played that case/game yet, don't listen to it!

Arri: the Dahlia version is very spooky! Completely spoilerriffic of course. The calm, pretty way you're singing these bloodthirsty lyrics is really in character for Dahlia (All sparkles and butterflies, you know).

I recorded a version of Maya's part in "I'll Be There" because I think the song is so very cute - I'll Be There
I had some trouble getting the soft parts to be heard without background noise, hope it sounds ok. Singing for Maya is a lot more fun than singing for Mia. :maya:

Hi.. Um, on the progress pages do the songs without demos need music? Because I was kinda messing around with some tunes they could go to.

I feel happy to have anybody take their hand at the songs. ^_^ Just remember that at this point, we're going to have to cut a certain number of songs (sorry to have to bring it up...) so many of the songs are not guaranteed spots in the musical.

But the more songs that are written, the more we can choose from, and the better it will be in the end! So I say, bring it on! :godot:
^_^ Alright! I get the whole 'too many songs' thing, I just figured I'd give it a go. The worst that could happen is that the song doesn't make it in, so no big. I wasn't going to respond till I had something to show for it, but its coming pretty slowly, so I'll post it when I can. Thanks :will:

Haha, I love when people ad-lib in the songs. Very nicely done.

This is sort of an out-there suggestion, but I'm sure we've all noticed how many very eligible people are trying out for a select few roles. When some places do musicals "In Concert" (just the songs), they sometimes pick multiple people for one part. Since we're not doing this live, this is an option. At the same time though, if we're still recording the entirety of the script, it may be distracting to viewers involved in the storyline, so I dunno. At the very least, it's a possibility if we want to include more people on certain parts.

Good suggestion! I have an idea that kind of works off that and then involves less confusion, though.

Who's to say we can't do multiple productions? We could have different casts for each one (if we have enough people--if not we can overlap some parts or something) and each cast is a certain "troupe" and they each release their own version of the musical. That way, since there's sooo many good people for each role, we can have a huge variety and just listen to our favorite! Or listen to all of them. ;3 It'd be extra work, but if each troupe had their own mixer (or team of mixers) then it wouldn't be that much trouble. What do you guys think? There is a troupe in Japan that does a very similar thing (the all-girl acting troupe Takarazuka).

Also, Rose, your adlibs are adorable! x3 And psychoDahlia scares me.

Heh, Diana, you beat me to it! I was just thinking about multiple casts. It would be a nice way for everyone to be able to participate.

Thanks for all the comments, folks :that-b-word: Heh, maybe I should try for Dahlia...assuming, you know, we actually get that far. Which I totally hope we do, 'cause that'd be awesome. Yep.

aki-bara, I'm probably not qualified to give an answer, but I'd say feel free to join the Teamspeak weekend! We're a pretty open group.

Okay, so, I need to take a poll of the guys in this project, mainly those who plan to audition for Phoenix or Edgeworth - what are your ranges? I want to make sure that the DL-6 song isn't too high, because I'm pretty sure it is right now; it goes up to a D above middle C multiple times. Pushing the finished version down a couple of steps wouldn't be difficult at all, but I'd rather fix it now, if it needs fixing.

Hello, I'm still here! Lurking, sure, but... here...

I don't have Teamspeak but I can download it, although I'm busy for most of this weekend. Should be able to get on in the evenings, though (GMT).

I'm pretty much done with school, now, so I should have some more time to devote to this (in theory), but... I still don't know what I'm supposed to be writing, so... yeah. Not that I want to hurry Gerk, he's explained himself pretty well. I'll try to get on teamspeak regardless.

I'm glad you guys liked my ad-libs! :maya: I was having so much fun with the recording and the song's been stuck in my head all day. Maybe I'll stop working on JFA and just work on Maya stuff. I need to redo the Steel Samurai song now that I've got a "character voice" for Maya and really let loose with it.

I think multiple casts might be a really fun idea, it would allow more people the chance to be a part of it. Or just using different people for different songs.

Will TeamSpeak be going on all weekend long? I may be able to join for a little while, but I know for sure that Saturday early afternoon and Sunday evening are completely out for me. I will need to download it and see if I can figure it out before then. Hopefully I'll get the chance to stop in to say hi.

Possibly, but it could be fun! :O And even if it's complicated, if we manage to keep it organized we could cut down on the complexity quite a bit. Either way, it's not an issue right this second. We'd have to work that out after we have the script and soundtrack all finalized. ^^

I like the multiple cast idea, though it could be horribly confusing if we didn't do it right. However, it could also be loads of fun! :D

We could also give each cast a pet name. <3 Heehee... *rambles off*

ff3girl, that would be hilariously amazing. I think you're trying to base it on the Harry Potter song, right? :P "Script, script, script-ity, script." "Steel Samurai! Steel Samurai!"
