I've just recently started playing this game again and I was just wondering if anyone has played this short lived series on the GBA and if so, what your opinion is on it?

it's garbage. clichéd plot, cookie-cutter characters, lackluster storytelling, boring gameplay.

Yea, I had heard about that a while back too, but I don't think they are gonna do anything about it now. I really wanted them to have Alex as a final boss and I would have felt so happy kicking his butt and wiping that smug smirk off of his face.

Golden Sun and The Lost Age were very good in my opinion. I will admit that they were like every other RPG, but at least they pulled it off well. And the Dijin system was pretty cool. Adds a bit of strategy (like Summon Rushes XD).
What I want to know is...
Spoiler:
What happened to Alex at the end of The Lost Age? He had the possibility of surviving that whole ordeal at the end, so what happens when the mountain disappears? o.o

I'm more confused than Wellington with a bunch of bananas.

Spoiler:
I didn't really understand it too well, but from what I got, the wise one already gave a bit of the golden sun's power to Isaac so when Alex had obtained it, he didn't obtain the full power and thats why he wasn't invincible and was defeated. I think the mountain probably disappeared because there was no sanctuary to host the power anymore. Then again, I'm not real sure, but thats just my idea.

Hmm... Yeah that whole thing was weird.

Oh and did anyone tell Flint (the first Dijin you find) not to go with you? Because if you keep responding with "No" you can drag out that conversation for a really long time before he stops begging and goes with you anyway. XD

Yeah that game had some pretty cool summons. The best ones were in The Lost Age though. I still love Eclipse and uh... I think it was "Haures"? The thing that is made up from fire and earth if I remember correctly, and he's this blue monster that comes out of a crimson blob and slashes across the screen. I'm not sure what he was supposed to be, but he was cool.

I did. Iris is AWESOME! But like all really cool summons, she'll probably leave you vulnerable afterward. It requires about 9 waters and 5 fires after all.

Yeah, I remember fighting Dullahan for that summon and that was probably one of the most near impossible fights I had ever had in the game. He made the final boss look like a sweet innocent kitten. And after I beat him, I only used the summon once in a random battle, just to see what it looks like. I felt like it was kind of a waste but I just had to complete the game 100%. Man, if these optional bosses tried to take over the world, our heroes would be in big trouble!

Yea, I agree that the second game was better as well, seeing as the first game started off kind of slow and it was about 3 times longer than the first. And my first reaction when I saw Felix was Felix the cat! Maybe you could do some Golden Sun kitties once the PW ones are done Doylie! *shot, brick'd, stoned, hanged, and stabbed, all at once*

Sounds like a VG Cats idea.

Ah Golden Sun I adore that game. ^^ I really like both the mains ( Aiga + Matt ). They're so cool. I always thought Felix had a huge Matt Engarde like scar(s) hidden under his hair.

Of course I completed both games and I love the arena in GS1.

My favourite RPG, one of the best games ever.

I liked it even more than FF5 and FF7.

By far the best GBA graphics, fantastic and touching story, great characters, a nice battle system with a lot of variety and tactics (but still fast and dinamic), beautiful music, a lot of secrests and a really long gameplay (1st game 40 hr, 2nd more than 60) and etc.

A must have imo.

I played both games, first one I hated deadbeard, probably took 9 tries to beat him, second one, god dammit I prepared so much, reviving, summoning, and just attacking....

I actually thought Deadbeard was easy, but then again, I trained my butt off because I had heard how hard he was. The dungeon was pretty awesome though, as I was able to obtain a ring that conquered the evilness of cursed weapons!

I always gave Garet the cursed weapons because he was more of my heavy hitter. Isaac and Felix were more of my all-around people who were good at about everything. Out of all the healers, I'll pick Mia over Jenna any day.

Seriously? Its for the Gameboy Advance and if you ever get the chance to find it and buy it go right ahead! I'm just warning you though that the first game starts off pretty slow, but once it picks up, it gets pretty good imo.

Me and Golden Sun have a history <3 It was my first RPG ever back in like, third grade. I was obsessed with it for a few years...I loved the gameplay, story, characters, graphics, fandom...

I must say though, now that I've played more RPGs Golden Sun doesn't seem as...brilliant?...because the plot is average and the characters are not developed at ALL. They have only one expression, they're not really developed past their roles of "polite cleric" etc, there's almost NO nonplot-essential dialogue so we don't know how they interact on a daily basis when they're camping out on their way to the next town :/ We only know them as heroes, not people, with the exception of a few scenes between Jenna, Garet, and Isaac at the beginning of GS1. They're given pretty great character in fanfics and such, but while playing the game it feels a little...cheap. However, since like I said it's way nostalgic for me, I still love it anyway.

With that said, the graphics are AMAZING, better than anything else I've ever seen on GBA and especially impress considering when it came out. Even if there's little character development I still love the characters and the fandom's great. I LOVE the gameplay. The Summons were AWESOME looking. And overall I find it to be a fun, good-looking game.

I agree, but I was pretty impressed with the battle system and the way they incorporated the Djinn and the whole summoning thing, especially on the second game. And you do gotta admit that Isaac's hair is similar to Cloud's, but its not as exaggerated.

Yea, I forget, but there was this one really good place that you could train at on one of the eastern isles if I remember correctly. I don't remember the name of the dungeon off the bat, but you need to have Teleport to get to the good part of the dungeon. You get a hidden Water Djinn and a hidden summon here.

Edit: Found out the name of the place. Its the Sea of Time Islet in the turtle's hidden spot. You get more experience from the Wonder Birds here than you can from any enemy in the Mars Lighthouse. I brought my characters up to Lv. 57 here before I went to beat the game.

I think thats right. The one you get from Dullahan, right? The only time I ever used it was in a random battle just to see what it does. I tell ya though, once you get in your 50s, the last boss (a 3 headed dragon if I remember) is a piece of cake.

I've been playing it again, and I just beat Colosso on the first one. I forgot how fun Colosso was. I've been getting lucky finding Djinn though because I've forgotten alot of their locations, especially the ones that hide on the world map.

I remember the first time I fought Poseidon and was wondering why he was such an invincible boss and it frustrated me for the longest time until I figured out I needed to get all 3 pieces of the trident. I was so dissapointed because it took me forever to figure it out too! -_-'

It was the same way with Gaia Rock for me too. The first time I went there, I didn't know there was a place you could climb up outside, and instead I just went inside, tried to fight the boss, and got myself killed. I felt really dumb after I found out about climbing up the rock on the outside.

Yea, and you had to get that dancing idol at the top of the rock so you could move the statues inside to get to the mirrors. The boss was significantly easier after I found all this out. Apparently, the bosses have more strategy compared to the first game, and I learned that out pretty quickly.

True, but the puzzles was the one thing that I really liked about the game. I admit that there were times where they got real frustrating, but I think it was because they were so confusing that I would usually be over beefy when I would go and face the next boss. Now if the game had intolerable music to accompany the puzzles, I probably would have destroyed it in advance, but I think it was because the music was so good that I was able to like the puzzles.
