Maybe Ike isn't for them I guess. Personally because of Ike's being slow but has lots of strength I think he's definitely more for those who are very unpredictable.
I have a friend who uses Ike and he is very deadly with him. He's the type that reads others really well.

Sure, the Pikachu spammers are annoying, but that doesn't rule out Pikachu altogether. I play as him pretty well, and I rarely use Thunder or Thunder Jolt. You should cheer whenever you see a decently played Pikachu online.

Bowser is fine I like how they adjusted his side-b move into a kind of grab and going Giga is always fun if not effective.

Actually I prefer having a more offensive recovery move (like aether) rather than one designed to simply bring folk back (Sonic's spring or Pit's wings)
I like Ganandorfs new powers with his side B having a satisfying grab move as well as driving them into the ground if airborne.
It seems these grab special moves are popular with Bowser and Ganondorf getting them

Now a few people have dubbed the yellow rat "Cheapachu"... and yes you get lightning spammers. But with great power comes great responsibility... you need to know when to deploy the lightning properly to be a good player. Like using it to send someone out the top of the stage when they are already quite high up in the sky. And he has great other powerful moves that you have to be wary of; his smash attack left/right has tremendous reach for example, and his down smash is terrific at dragging in opponents, doing multiple damage and sending them upwards (ready for a lightning!). He is quick, he has a fast headbutt and his left/right B special can catch people out and smash them from the stage.
So yes, the yellow rat has a lot of weapons at his disposal, but you have to know properly when and where is the right place and time to execute them. Oh, and the lightning is highly useful for getting that smash ball, so much for Lucas' up B move heh...
As for Kirby, I like him for three main reasons: he's a pure brawler (more my style), he has a great recovery move and that BanHammer (TM). That has killed more than enough people to give me victory in matches. Along with his smash left/right move and the Death From Above (TM) rock trick (which you can pull out of mid drop if you time it right just as it hits the opponent, into another move straight away such as the Final Cutter) gives you an awful lot of killing power. And he's so damn hard to kill as well, I just love the white ghost puffball (my preferred colour, the colour of your doom heh)...

Personally I'm thinking Snake is my favourite. Most of his weapons are explosive which pack a lot of knockback. His side smash is really powerful, his basic combo's have great knockback and then you have his C4
Theres something so satisfying about marking someone with C4 then detonating at high percentages.
Happiest moment in smash for me was duping a Link that had been trying to stick me with one of his arrows in sudden death mode into stepping onto C4 before going sky high.
Maybe it's just cause I thought he looked so hard to use at first on the dojo, what with his delayed move (mines) and arsenal of projectiles (which I never thought were that good) but they turn out alright (especially when you nikita and nikita someone off-screen) but he actually is very fun to use.
More of my favourites are Luigi, Ganondorf, Falcon (theres just no weaknesses!) and hmm Ike. Also like playing as Sonic but I find he just lacks the power and...to be honest I can't tell the difference between his down special and side special besides how they charge up and I'd like to know what the difference is so I can know which one needs using.

You don't have to use them, especially near the stage too.
I think it's easy to stay on the stage using his B moves as well but yeah I don't think you should be using his B moves.
For me I rarely use his B moves.
But yeah as long as you avoid the Big Red Button suiciding will happen less, since he does have multiple jumps, a glide, and then an Up + B move which leads onto another glide.

ITS THE META KNIGHT SPAMMERS DAMNIT!(They kept using side+B T_T)he's actually my main...well along with ZS Samus/Samus and Sonic...and R.O.B
also Sonic's homing attack is'nt cheap for whoever said it cause its easy to dodge and you can get hit while using it >_>

Everytime I play, the only character that seems to commit an accidental suicide is Falco with his Up-B fire move. As well as Pit if you're playing on a stage with ledges that are too high.
I used to like playing as Mario, but they fucked him up since his Down-B move is now FLUDD instead of that spinning attack. Just the small fact that FLUDD is useless in battle makes Luigi's strange movelist superior.
I had doubts about Olimar at first but when I played as him for the first time in Brawl, I thought to myself: "Don't underestimate the power of the Pikmin!"

Yeah, I like bowser. I use him and Dedede in Multi-man brawls. I hate Ike.....he's just too predictable and hard to play as. He has too many cheap attacks.

Thanx for pointing that out but I already knew that. My point beforr was that putting FLUDD in as a move was pointless. It does nothing at all.

They were better off keeping the tornado as his down B but I never found Mario much useful anyway, a suicide recovery and a weak deflection special move as well as a useless projectile. HAH! He's poorly represented in Brawl I think.
Also don't whine about Meta Knight's specials sure his side b can send you right off the stage but only if your an idiot. It's easy to adjust your drill pattern to veer up onto another platform or away from the edge. Furthermore
his basic B move when mashed is an invinicible recovery move as it has great mobility in most directions, his down B is weakest but still not entirely useless...the attack is pretty powerful albeit hard to aim.
