Phoenix wright wasnt based off nothing, it was based off being a lawyer and what a lawyer would do with the added touch of it being set in the future, which is how they were able to pull most things off that wouldnt happen in our days.
All of it has complete accuracy to what you'd do
Defense would cross examine, prosecutors would prepare witnesses, judges would declare verdicts. It does reflect real life, only without the fictional additions.
Being able to stand in court and present evidence to the jury just sets my insipiration alight and makes me want to do it even more despite what you all think or believe.
I asked who was considering taking law as an option, not because it's related to phoenix wright
For those who believe that it's wrong to do this, then I pity you not only because you're wrong but because you are disregarding a very well paid job in condition with it being related to phoenix wright.

Yikes, can you imagine!?) Anyway, both the defense and prosecution team cross-examined and set-up witnesses.I want to get into the criminal-justice circle; I've known that since I was younger. I'm thinking of forensics or a criminal profiler-type person. I don't think I'd enjoy going into law; but interestingly enough, I seem to have this strange, lasting interest in it
for whatever reason, criminal law, at least, refuses to bore me. In fact, after I did my report on the Lindbergh Trials, I really wanted to rent that one book again and read it (very thick book). As I was doing this tiny report for school (it was realllllly tiny; I did waaaay too much research on it), I found myself reading page after page of this book. So who knows? I don't know why law hasn't bored me to death yet, but it could be a career option.Oh, and last I checked, Japan had a 'guilty before innocent' system.

And i will happily acknowledge that i don't know a thing about real law besides being dragged to networking parties by a girlfriend while she studied for her degree and being a juror, but i think i can safely say GS is more then a little off the mark, i mean you stuff evidence into your pockets for gods sake....
Also it's not disregarding a well paid job because of GS it's because as being a barrister looks pretty hideous for me and money isn't everything, i'd much prefer to drift amongst the archives with at least a dr in front of my name for peanuts

Well it's a matter of opinion then as what ever I want to achieve in life has no barings on yours what so ever.
I really shouldnt have to start arguing with people over this because I take law seriously and I would probably start to resent those who interfered with my career, being that those who undermind people to become lawyers because they think it's related to Phoenix wright
Now please lets bring some positivity back into this and have people who are going to become lawyers post!

just like young phoenix was so happy when larry and edgey stood up for him in the fourth grade, i wanna be able to help people as well. someone has to stand up for abused husbands and wives trying to get a divorce. someone has to fight for a mother or father trying to get custody of their children. if someone in the family's some crazy drug addict and they need to tear apart the family because of it, i want to be there to help make sure the legal work pushes through. i want to make sure mommies and daddies who left their family pay child support instead of leaving their kids hanging. and when it comes to dividing property after a divorce or death, i want to be there to help mediate the problems instead of having them kill each other over it. sometimes you need to cut off an arm or leg to save a person. and sometimes you need to legally divide a family to save it.
of course my world views are probably childish and simplistic...but meh.

well, to go along with prosecutorx here, lots of people do get their career choice influenced by the media. video games count as media. i took a career development class once and when we did a class survey, it turned out that most people leaning towards the medical field were fans of scrubs, house, general hospital, ER and the like. those who leaned towards the law field leaned towards law and order, boston legal, or whatever. since i'm not a TV girl, i'd say phoenix wright games were the final nail in my career decision coffin.
oh yeah, and i picked up a copy of trauma center just for kicks. no way in hell am i gonna be a doctor after that. it never actually occured to me that i'd have to actually touch my patients in places i probably wouldn't want to see or touch. bleh. i'd rather do an attorney's paperwork any day.

and again if a game makes you research what the job would involve for real and base your decision on that then fine, but if you're delusional enough to base your decision solely on the game-playing then that is where i have a problem, in the same way i would have a problem if someone watched ER and decided to be a doctor solely on that basis without actually taking a real hard look at what it involved
but i have worked in an ER and that is vaguely in the right ballpark although i don't knwo if its just for tv and to make the doctors and nurses look sexier but can you really have loose hair in a hospital? I mean OMG might as well stop washing their hands after going to the toilet........... again i digress, but i mean GS is so wide of the mark that its just very strange to use it as anything more then as the realisation that there is a job called being an attorney out there

lols...when i was 17, i was stuck between the whole "lawyer vs. doctor" thing for college. my parents always wanted one or the other in the family, and in the end, i chose law. so i walk into the video game store one day and i'm stuck between phoenix wright and trauma center. i picked PW and i figured, wow. i think i might actually like being a lawyer after all. i download trauma center a few months later, and i'm panicking like crazy during the first operation. and seeing as i'm panicky and passionate by nature, i'm not sure that makes for good bedside manner if i'm going to be a doctor. of course if i put that passion into litigation, i just might be able to convince people in court.

Probably going to go off-topic here but... I work in Pharmacy and I worked in the IV room at our main hospital here for 3 & 1/2 years. After working in the hospital, I never want to see medical TV shows ever again. ^_^;; The hospital killed those shows for me.
I personally don't think that there's anything wrong with games/media influencing you to look into careers that you might not have thought about beforehand. As long as you don't believe that the job is going to be exactly like how it's depicted on TV/in the game. ^_^;;

Just go to a local Courthouse and watch. Most Trials are open to the public. Some are pretty good.

I got influenced a lot I suppose. I wanted to be a doctor, then I saw my uncle (a surgeon) going home and he forgot to wash a patient's blood from his feet. NOT happening. And I couldn't handle the fact that a person's life is in my hands! D: that's the reason I couldn't play trauma center at first...
So I guess I'll stick to being an illustrator

Bah how did you manage to say what i meant so eloquently and consisely when all i managed to achieve was to look like an ass.......
mind you i think going for a career because its what your parents want is worse then becoming an archaeologist because Indiana Jones depicts exactly what your career would entail............. and back to being an ass

haha...i got into so many fights with my parents when i told them i wanted to be a lawyer. for years i said i wanted to be a doctor and they were so proud and happy because they always wanted a doctor in the family (lawyer was only their second choice). then when i decided to go prelaw, they were pretty upset when i told them i wanted to be a history major first and then become a paralegal on the side as a fallback (they wanted me to be an english major with a political science minor and not have to work at all during college). but i finally realized that its my life and i'm not going to let them run it. i want to be a lawyer for my own reasons. if they want their dreams fulfilled, they can either beg my brother or have another kid.

My school was pretty pathetic regarding on how they prepared their pupils for the "after-school-life". Nearly 90% of the people that were in my year didn't know what to do with their lives after school had finished. And it was the same for me, because there's literally no possibility to really find out what you want to do - if you didn't like any of the school objects, that is.
How are you supposed to find out if you're interested in being a lawyer, a police officer or something else if you never got any guidance on how to even gather information about these subjects?! In my opinion it's just that the school system is so limited you don't get any idea on what you can even do after school is finished (for example there is a field of study called cultural anthropology - what on earth is that supposed to mean?!).
So it's really no suprise that you take every chance to gather information regarding jobs you have no idea about so I was really influenced by all the media.
So I think even IF someone wanted to do something because of some series in tv or some game he played that shouldn't be a shame, for example if you're just attracted by the basic idea of the media in question. So if someone was to study law because of AA (I know that's not the case here but anyway) I don't think that's really too bad an idea. Because like someone said before you do have to gather evidence, question witnesses and so on.
You just have to remember that there will probably be some things you won't like so much about being a lawyer (all the paper work, I guess??). But I don't think that ANYONE in an age where you normally are when you study, will believe that the field he studies is gonna be exactly what he saw on tv or in the game.

I started down the medical path because i wanted to be a vet but am allergic to anything hairy... very quickly changed my mind though (can't exactly preach on picking the right career choice can i lol) then I tried my hand at chemistry (not because of Ema i hasten to add) because it encorporated a year in the US studying which sounded cool but then i found out I'm not allowed to enter the country so i knocked that on the head.... then it was nursing because in the UK the government pays the tutition fees for that (again not a great reason ha ha) but i was rather bad at that, I'd say my bedside mannor was a cross between

which didn't go down so well so now I'm studying History with English Literature ( 
-eep) on the side which I love and am studying it because i love it even though career prospects all pay peanuts and hoping to go through a PhD and maybe on to be a Proffessor... so basically saying I have very little (w)right to

Just go to a local Courthouse and watch. Most Trials are open to the public. Some are pretty good.

and which didn't go down so well so now I'm studying History with English Literature ( -eep) on the side which I love and am studying it because i love it even though career prospects all pay peanuts and hoping to go through a PhD and maybe on to be a Proffessor... so basically saying I have very little (w)right to at one point, i thought chemistry would be cool because of fullmetal alchemist. *shot* i wanted to be a biochem major, go to med school, and maybe obtain knowledge on creating potent poisons while i was at it. when i took my first AP chem class in high school, i pretty much had to rely on every boy in that class to help me out because i was so lost all the time. i did better in chem than i did in physics, but chem was pretty much hell on earth for me. seeing how i sucked at science, math, and medicine in general, i figured i was better with words (history, english, literature, and politics were always my strong points) i finally caved in to what my elementary school teachers told me for years: you'll make a better lawyer than a doctor.
@ margo: btw, what does it take to practice law in the UK? i'm trying to flee america because our country's turning to one big dump.

Getting a full grasp on elements before the current advances of chemisty would overload anyone stupid enough to do this without any will to run with it. Chemistry alone is enough of a pain. I shouldn't know that though. I skipped chem to go straight into Adv. Bio.

Maybe they allow to style the wig in one's sole discretion. You could make it look like Godots (if the wigs are grey, that is) hairstyle and just say you washed it a bit too long or something like that

yeah, but even in physics, i pretty much had to rely on the boys in my class to "help me out"...a lot. even moreso than in chemistry. i don't like relying on boys.

I have always had a great interest in the law, and like some others it was Gyakuten Saiban that solidified the idea. Of course, I think it was Matlock and too many legal dramas that put it there to begin with.
Not that I haven't sufficiently researched this decision and weighed the positive and negative aspects therein.

no, i think america's going down no matter what happens. both of our presidential candidates are just...eh. but you're right about our judicial system. i mean hell, thanks to miranda vs arizona even criminals have rights and they can get away scot free should the law enforces forget that. but at the same time, it's not exactly easy to get away with murder (if you're an average joe and not rich like OJ).
