While on my first trip to Baltimore, me and my boyfriend were looking for the exclusively rare Phoenix Wright game. He finally found it and we started playing the first two cases together...

Course, I had the tendancy to read the script out loud. I think I had fun reading April May's script.

When I got my DS Lite last year, I splurged on buying at least 5 games for it. (Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble, Puyo Pop Fever, Super Princess Peach, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, & Guilty Gear-Dust Strikes).

This year, I got Justice for All, even though I had to use a walkthough, due to the fact I had very poor memory and I like that Capcom finally made a dominate woman character that wasn't fan-service. Franziska

Plus, she reminded me of the only female Belmont, Sonia.

Also Pearl was cute too. Pearl The sucky part of getting JFA was the price, since we have a 16% tax rate, but it was money well spent.

Since I have a tendancy to like white hair male characters (Dante, InuYasha, Alucard & Seph), a friend of mine did this objection, which probably lead to my likeness of Mr. von Karma too. Von Karma
http://objection.mrdictionary.net/go.php?n=1042802

And did the following comic for it. One of my first Phoenix Wright related comics.
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/yinggirl/tsaa94.gif

Anyways, just three weaks ago, I finally got the first one. I haven't started playing it, but I am getting help from one of my classmates.

I guess I like this series because it brought me some friends, meeting people I never knew, and I never had any friends to begin with.

Although, Phoenix and Edgeworth look like Dante and Vergil from the DMC series.

I heard about it on the internets, and when my friend got it and told me about it I was determined to get it. I luckily received it as a birthday present two weeks after my friend got the game, along with the equally awesome Trauma Center: Under the Knife.

Heard about it on the internets. Bought the first one. Played the first one. Loved the first one.

Yeah, not much of a story there. I've lent it to all of my friends, though, trying to get them all into the series >.>

I was in Japan, and I had just bought a DS Lite, after waiting a bizillion years... And a friend of mine had gotten PW from her boyfriend in America before we left. She lent it to me and I was HOOKED. Of course, I didn't realize that the Japanese version of the game had an English track on it, or I would have bought it when I was there, instead of just staring at it a bunch. Gregory

I became interested in purchasing Ace Attorney not long before JFA came out, but I decided not to buy it the first time saw it (before Christmas). I couldn't find it anywhere so when JFA came out I bought that and I've just recently bought Ace Attorney...

Boy, I actually didn't pick it up because I saw the box.

I saw the trailer on G4, and just started laughing about it. I was thinking "Geez, a LAWYER game? How stupid!" So, I did a bit of looking into it and saw that it really wasn't that stupid. So I bought it.

And I love it. <3

I heard about it for awhile. Two of my friends had played it, and I was going to borrow it, but I never got around it it. Wasn't terribly interested. Then, that day came. I was set to go to work at a crappy job at Panera immediately after school. All day, i worried about it, because I had so much other crap I needed to deal with. Finally, I checked my rights as a minor in the work force, and found I was given way too many hours. 4 to 10! Fucking crazy!

I went in with my mom and we talked to the manager. I teared up because of all the stress of my senior year combined with this crappy job. My manager, a real nice guy but part of a highly incompetent team of managers gave me a new schedule, and I had 2 hours before I had to go back. I go back to the car with my mother and sister, and I finally cried tears of relief. (My managers were still incompetent, thou, but that's a different story for a different time).

So, with two hours, my mom suggested we go get something for me to eat (I hadn't eaten since my lunch period at 11:30 in the morning), so we picked up Chinese food. I found that I had $5 and a Gamestop card loaded with $30 on it. I asked my mom to stop on our way out of the shopping center (all three stores were close together; so close that after early shifts, I would walk to the Gamestop and play the Xbox 360 while I waited). I walk in, just looking for something good. I looked the DS section, and I found Phoenix Wright. New copy. I head heard that it was extremely rare to find. I had to. It was destiny. I asked the clerk for the game, and he found the copy. "You're lucky. Last copy we had!" the nice clerk told me (same guy who sold me Elite Beat Agents, Justice for All, my DS Lite, and God Hand). "It's a short game, but the cases are long. You'll like it." I played a little of the first case before going to work, then over the course of a week and a half, I beat the game. But, I was hooked. Now, the games remind me of the span of two hours, where I felt an incredible weight lifted off my shoulders. That's why I love the series so.

A friend of mine got the game and I was like "buh? text-based? Must. Own."

I originally bought my DS because I wanted the Lunar game. What a joke that ended up being.... I hated that game. I never got much farther than the very beginning.

Bwah~ I completely blame Proto for my obsession now. x3

No, seriously. And he doesn't know it yet.

For a while- I don't know if he still has it now- he had a PW moodtheme on his LJ, and I believe an icon with pinkcheeks!Larry, and I remember thinking how utterly gay he looked like that. I didn't know where he was from, just... gay man in orange. I was interested. xD

So fast-forward to Christmas '06 (:3 Yeah I'm really new~) when my dad hints heavily that he'll be getting me a DS Lite and I give him a long list of games, one of which was Phoenix Wright because by this time I pretty much knew it as "that lawyer game with the gay guy." (Fear my naming skillz) Since I was already asking for Trauma Center, I figured what the heck, might as well ask for another quirky game.

At this same time, I was doing a five-page paper for English on how anime had affected American culture. A part of it was dedicated to video games. The Tales of Series, Disgaea, Trauma Center, Phoenix Wright, and Katamari. After a little research into PW I was all "Need game plz." so I kinda double-underlined it on my list. xD

I didn't get it for Christmas. D: Got the DS- he's pink and his name's Zelos- but my dad couldn't find AA. I did get Trauma Center, though. xD

Fast-forward again about five days. January 30, my dad drags us into Circuit City looking for something. I make a beeline for the video games and- lo and behold!- see ONE copy of Ace Attorney on the shelf. Cue greedy grabbing, a stifled fangirl squeal, and an abrupt loss of $25 of Christmas money.

I take it home and spend 2 hours on the first case the first night. Then after that, I stay up until about 2 am fininshing the SECOND case that night. Next day, I'm sleep-deprived and I have to go to a New year's party... um, at my house, but still, it's a party and there were people. I spent that whole evening lost in the third case and giggling with my friend about Oldbag. :3 Up until about 1 or 2 am again, but it's been beat!

Next morning it's on to case 4, and that one seals my position as Edgey fangirl. x3 Day after, case 5 with the help of a guide. I'm so glad I was out of school for Christmas.

My birthday (Feb 23) I get a target giftcard (and a driver's license!) so I drive to target with the same friend that was giggling over Oldbag, and HELLOOO JFA~ $24. I got lucky. And I bought it with my giftcard and some extra monies I had. x3 Spent most of that night giggling with my friend over how gay Wellington looked, went back to school after the weekend was over, and hid in the back of the classroom with Zelos and my friend JFA. xD

And then I'm here. ;3 Hello!

Oh, and I'm trying to ley a friend in Canada borrow my copy of AA, but I'm not sure how it'll do for the trip- does Customs use and magnetic stuff? I needs help~

*chuckle* How did I get into the series? Heh, Well at first, I really didn't.

I had heard about the game, in fact I think I read something about it in Nintendo Power, but I kind of just ignored it. From what I could tell, it would just be some text-based game about a lawyer, and how good could that possibly be? Besides, the main character's hair is just... weird.

But my brother, who has excellent taste in games I might add, was interested in the game and ended up getting it for his birthday soon after it came out. For some reason I thought it was funny that he actually bothered to get the game. Well some time passed, and I noticed how much he was into the game, so I did a little more research on it (did a lot of lurking on the GameFAQs forums, which is where I discovered that the game was full of puns and amusing quotes), and I became only slightly more interested. I still didn't really want to play it myself, so I constantly asked my brother for all of the interesting storyline tidbits.

...And it frustrated me that he refused to reveal all of the juicy stuff. So one day, as I was sitting on the couch with my DS, I was talking with my brother about how a second PW game was going to come out sometime in the future, and somewhere in this conversation I realized that I didn't have any other video games to play at the moment so I said "Darn it, gimmie that game, for I had might as well see what all the fuss is about!"
...Or something like that.

He gladly agreed to let me borrow the game, and I was hooked ever since Case 1. I remember waking up every morning and playing for a few minutes before going to school and yelling "objection" at my friends. ...Which is highly ironic, since I never once yelled at my DS.

So now as I look back, I feel like a jerk for not being open-minded about the game and missing out on what is now one of my favorite video games of all time. I mean I got really into it by the end of the first game. Heck, I nearly cried during Case 4. Though... part of my emotionalness I blame on my fangirlism, but that game is seriously an excellent piece of work. And I'm glad that my brother didn't spoil all the cool stuff for me.

...But I still think Phoenix's hair is weird. =3
I'm more confused than Wellington with a bunch of bananas.

It's all this guy's fault. And I love him for it (among other things... ;]). <3

Admittedly, I tried resisting for a while, since everyone on the internet back in 2005 was all "LOL! Ace Attorney is so cool!" and I don't like following internet trends. Later, the guy I mentioned came to visit me and then played it in my view. It was cool.

It wasn't until a couple of months later that I wanted that game. I got the game eventually (after finishing GS3) and have enjoyed it and the other games in the series. :3

Wow, similar to my story. I got some Nintendo preview DVD and saw Phoenix Wright. I also thought it was stupid looking and didn't give it a second thought. Then I noticed all the great reviews on GameFAQs and how rare it was getting. So I thought I should buy a copy if I see it. Bought it at Game Crazy and loved it.

Okay, my story is rather long winded. I'm prone to long winded explainations. Here we go! Contained because it's got spoilers and just because it's pretty long in general. Please forgive the overall annoying tone of speech...

Spoiler: You ready?
Well it all started with those VGCats comics. At first I thought, "...A lawyer game? That interesting. *moves on*." And then my friend got into the Objection! generator and I was like "Hey! I know that guy! Scott made a few comics about him! ... This Objection! generator is kinda fun!" The first link I explored at that site brought me to Court Records, where I read a few things. Edgeworth was the favorite among my friends in the Objection! generator due to his clothes, cravat, and overall air of arrogance, but I myself didn't really pay much attention to him... Until I read his character profile here... After that, I was like "O_O HOLY MOLY! HE AND PHOENIX WERE BEST BUDS IN GRADE SCHOOL AND NOW THEY'RE BITTER RIVALS?! THAT AIN'T RIGHT! DO THEY EVER MAKE UP AND BECOME BEST BUDS AGAIN?!" That's when I started digging around the site OBSESSIVELY. Even though all my questions were answered and I KNEW what was going to happen (right down to the last detail at that), I just HAD to have that game. In fact, I had to have the game BECAUSE I knew what was going to happen. (I'm weird that way. I love spoilers. Eat them like candy.) To me, it wasn't really a game as much as a very very interesting book. So I pleaded with my mom to get me it and she said she'd get it for me as an early christmas present once finals were over. And so, we got me a DS, but we had a hard time finding the game. We eventually found in at a specialty store and the store owner said, "Hey, we got the Japanese import of the second game too!" and I was like "MUST HAVE!!" And Mom bought that for me too, although it cost me my allowance (TOTALLY WORTH IT!)

A-hem, that's my story. Again, I apologize for the overall annoying tone of speech, but that was really how I felt throughout it all.

Gee, it feels so long ago...Well it started when I saw a preview of it in Games Master magazine. I said to myself that looks good. I was interested in looking into Trauma Center as well.

So in the July 2006, four months after PW was released (In Ireland). I picked up a DS Lite and PW. I thought that I would like TC:UTK better but I loved PW and when I eventually picked up TC a month or two later, I still played PW way more. And that is my story. Maya Fey

I guess it was 2006, I read a review of the game from a finnish website, but I wasn't interested because there weren't any hot interesting characters on their small collection of screenshots (seriously, who would be interested in the game if there was Payne in the screenshots?)

Yaah, but I still had the name behind my ears until the very beginning of 2007, where I finally made the decision to buy a Ds lite along with Phoenix Wright.

And yes, It was love at first sight Godot Like the scent of lemon, you know.

Phoenix Wright actually started as a joke in my family.

Both my parents are defense attorneys (albeit not criminal defense), so when my brother and I heard of the "lawyer game" that had just come out, it became a sort of running gag. We didn't really think much of it.

I received a DS this past Christmas, and my brother bought one for himself in early January. When he found out that I hadn't gotten any games along with the DS, he dragged me to Best Buy to buy Mario Kart. I honestly didn't really want it, so when we got there I just settled on poking around the DS section.

My brother mentioned Trauma Center to me, about how he heard it was a good game (read: FANTASTIC), but since there was only one copy and I only had a certain amount of cash on me, he let me have it.

He, on the other hand, was considering buying two games. Mario Kart was one, and he was checking to see if anything else interested him.

This was all happening just a few days after JFA had come out, and I, lo and behold, happened to spot a single copy of it left on the shelf. I was actually joking when I said, "Hey, look, the lawyer game. You can be like Mom and Dad."

He bought it.

The following weekend, I was bored (and a tad bit frustrated with Trauma Center as it was) and decided to pick up Phoenix Wright - you know, just to see.

I finished it in one day, as I recall. It was just that addicting for me.

So, by mid-February, both my brother and I had a copy of Trauma Center (he'd tried mine and snatched it up immediately) and both Phoenix Wright games between us (I had AA and he had JFA). They are referred to as the "doctor game" and the "lawyer game", respectively, in my house.

The Phoenix Wright joke has also evolved into asking my parents if they have "lawyer badges".

... I rather like that story, actually. X3

Oh boy let's see if I can remember the dates here...Ace Attorney came out in September '05 yes? Well earlier in that year, perhaps during E3, I'd read some reports online (mostly from IGN) about a game where you play as a lawyer and defend clients. It detailed part of the first case and talked about using evidence and testimony to solve the cases. Being the fan of mystery stories that I am (thanks to Encyclopedia Brown and CSI for that), the concept of doing that in a stylized game format was really interesting to me. It wasn't something that I'd really taken to right from the start, but as time went on I kept thinking about it.

When the game neared release, I was in one of my "I haven't gotten a new game for a while" moods, so my interest in Wright was rekindled. I wound up buying it on the first day it was available at my nearby EB, before there was really any hype to it. After beating the first two cases on the day I bought it, I headed to the home of my sisters. From there Croik watched me beat case 3, after which she did some more digging and unearthed the Gyakuten Saiban roms to give them a spin. It didn't take long for both of us to be hooked. I think it might be the first time that Croik's gotten into a series that I reccomended instead of the other way around. Larry

I saw the first game message board on the top ten most active for DS for the longest time and I was like "WTF, lawyers? Don't they suck?" So then I looked at the reviews there and finally got curious enough to buy it to find my judgement quite the opposite of what I thought. I then grasped the idea of never judge a book by its cover firmly.

I remember hearing about it when it came out. I didn't look into a whole lot, and despite all its great reviews I decided not to try it right away because it didn't look like a game that would appeal to me at first glance. A few months later, I heard someone I know tell somebody else that he had Phoenix Wright and that it was "really good", and somehow that got me to look into it again. I discovered that the game had become quite rare and high-on-demand, and I was impressed at all the great reviews it had on gamefaqs (there were none below 7 at the time if I remember correctly). I used Gamestop.com to track down the closest one to me. I called the Gamestop and had them hold it for me, and that night my dad and I drove down to get it. I've been a fan ever since.

Now let's seeeee........

I think I read a review in some magazine, about Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All. And I thought like, "A lawyer game? Weeeird...." And approx. 6 month or.. um.. I dunno, later, I bought a DS, and the first game I bought is that.. thingy!! Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney!! Not the sequel.. I just bought it in. um.. last January this year! Why did I buy it? Because I didn't have any choice. XD

Hahah, I remembered my first impression when I saw Nick: WEIRDO. Ahahahahahah~ XD But after I played it (AND saw edgeworth *drools) I became.. Ooohh.. *drools*

I dunno if I posted here already, but I first heard of Gyakuten Saiban several times in the internet. Japan-only GBA game, obviously I didn't pay much attention. Then Phoenix Wright came out and I saw a review in Nintendo Official Magazine, now that was awesome.

I did some research and found out that was actually Gyakuten Saiban, and then bought Phoenix Wright. Great game, now I'm trying to get the sequel Von Karma!

I hope they do #3 and #4 too!

I just found it From my brother (Prosecutor Payne) He was playing it, halfway into the third case of the first game......cross-examining Cody....he couldn't find the contradiction, and I looked over his shoulder........He explained everything to me...and I found it...... From that point, I played the rest of the game with him, got addicted after case 4 of the first game, .....and other stuff.......
You know, this is a sig.

Randomly watched a Phoenix Wrong movie on Newgrounds, thought they where amazing.
Went on YouTube and 2 hours later (I have AOL Dial-up) a managed to watch a trailer.
When I was out a few days later, saw it for £20 so I bought it. FUN!

Now I have played 1 and 2 and know alot about 3.

We better get 3.

Or I'll jump out that window.

As for me, I read about it in a games magazine and decided to get it. Little did I know how many hours of my life I'd lose to this game.... :)

I got a DS the day the DS came out. It was a great console. Until it broke. But anyway, I got bored of it, for a few reasons, like... I lost Feel The Magic and had beaten Super Mario 64, but then I got trauma center. Wait... this thread isn't about my DS. Oh well, if it wasn't for my DS, wouldn't have gotten this.
Well, I was on GameFAQs. Y'know, checking Final Fantasy III DS board for Final Insanity. The guy who started the thread had a PW quote in his sig. I investigated. I found the ASCII art thread. I had to get the game, it seemed really funny.
So, my sister insisted I got a ROM of it, but I wanted to buy it. She did get a ROM, but I'll buy it for my birthday, now that Pokemon Diamond will come out a month after it...
And now I'm a fan, joined the fanlisting, gonna rename my PC after something related...

I saw a comic on DeviantArt and I thought it was hilarious, so I looked into the game, but I could only find JFA, so I got that ^_^ I was immediately hooked.

Then I had to buy AA online and I am eagerly awaiting T&T
Too lazy... hur hur.
